RETURNING RIN:
THAT NIGHT
Kagome woke up from yet another nightmare. She wanted to cry out from all the pain they gave her, but she couldn't. `No more tears and no more love for the bastard! For now' she thought. She noticed Kahn had passed out by the fire and Souta was curled up next to Shippou and Alara. She put on her cloak and grabbed her dagger. She picked up the sleeping form of Alara and took off on a walk. After a few minutes of walking, she heard distant crying.
“Who's there?” she called out.
The crying seemed to stop. She lifted her hood and looked all around. A small form latched onto her legs and started to cry again. She looked closer to see Rin! The poor girl had dirt all over her kimono and her face was covered with tear streaks. Kagome couldn't help but wonder why she was crying and so far away from Sesshoumaru or Jaken. She picked the small girl up and cradled her in her arms.
“Jaken yelled at Rin, so Rin ran away. Now Rin can't go home because youkai will hurt Rin and Jaken won't tell Sesshoumaru-sama where Rin-chan is because Jaken hates Rin. Will Kagome-chan help Rin get home? Rin is scared” Rin cried.
“Don't worry! I'll take you home, but we have to be quick. I bet Sesshoumaru-sama is looking for you right now” Kagome said.
She told Alara to transform and they got onto her. In the sky, Rin soon fell asleep in her arms. Kagome smiled sweetly and covered her in the cloak. `She is such a sweet kid! If only he loved me, than we could have had kids like Rin' she thought bitterly (the end bitterly, not about Rin being sweet!).
“Sorry Alara. We're almost there! I'll carry you back to camp” Kagome muttered so she didn't wake Rin.
They landed near the golden gates of Sesshoumaru's castle. It was made of a black marble and big wooden doors (Mainly like a medieval castle, but black and smooth and no moat, but gates). There was a garden for Rin to play in and a small pond.
“State your business” a guard said.
“I have something that Sesshoumaru may want back” Kagome grinned.
SESSHOUMARU'S PoV
He sat at his desk, wanting to groan over the massive amounts of paperwork he had to do. `No wonder father was in so many battles and wanted to battle instead of paper work. This is endless and so exhausting' he thought (I know! He doesn't really act like his character in this story, but play along). There was a sudden nervous knock at the door.
“Come in” Sesshoumaru ordered in his icy/normal (and sexy. LOL) voice.
Jaken entered the study, shaking like a leaf in fear. `Something is wrong. He knows I am going to beat him' Sesshoumaru thought almost happily (keyword: ALMOST). Fear almost radiated off of Jaken in waves.
“M-My Lord, RinranawayandIdon'tknowwheresheis.Icheckedthecastleandtheforestandeverywher eelse, butsheisnowheretobefound” Jaken squawked. (Translation: Rin ran away and I don't know where she is. I checked the castle, and the forest, and everywhere else, but she is now where to be found.)
Sesshoumaru got up calmly, went over to Jaken, and threw him out the window. As he gained control over his anger, there was another knock at his door. He fixed his hair quickly and sat back down (His hair sorta flipped into his face when he threw Jaken out).
“Enter” he said calmly.
“Mi'lord, there is a ningen onna who claims to have something of yours that you may want back. She wishes to see you downstairs, sir” a maid said.
Sesshoumaru groaned as he stood up. He went into the main hallway and saw someone in a black and red cloak that looked fat. (He can't see Rin because Kagome is keeping Rin warms so she doesn't get a cold.)
KAGOME PoV
Kagome smiled at the sound of Jaken being thrown out of the castle. He shouldn't have yelled at Rin. She turned to see a very annoyed Sesshoumaru coming downstairs. She let out a soft sigh and got ready to give Rin up.
“And what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?” he said sarcastically.
Kagome smiled, but kept her hood down so Sesshoumaru could only see her smile, but she could see him. She didn't answer, but took Rin out of the cloak and accidentally showing Sesshoumaru her broken arm. He took Rin out of her arm and looked at Kagome.
“How did you know she was my ward” he asked.
Kagome's smile disappeared and she looked down, trying to think of a lie to tell him. Her necklace slipped out and was shown to Sesshoumaru. She was about to turn away when he grabbed her hand. She looked up into his eyes. Those cold and uncaring eyes, that were filled with hope. Wait, filled with hope? Sesshoumaru with hope in his eyes? Now Kagome was confused.
“W-Where did you get that?” he asked icily.
She pulled her hand away and headed towards the door. He called for a maid as he watched her go towards the door. She turned around and let a ghost of a smile grace her lips. Sesshoumaru was still staring at her with his golden eyes. Almost the same color as Inuyasha's, but much lighter.
“My mother gave it to my before she died at the hands of a man I once loved. She said it belonged to me and she told me to wear it and find my father. Good night, Sesshoumaru-sama” she sighed.
She opened the giant doors and exited the castle, half expecting Sesshoumaru to stop her or kill her for being so rude. She went past the guards and through the front gate with Alara. When she was out, she pulled off her cloak and looked down at Alara with a smile. The cool breeze flipped her hair about as she stretched her arm and legs (Remember, one of her arms is broken).
“Alara? Oh, you must be really tired! Poor thing. I'll carry you back to camp” Kagome purred.
She looked up at the moon, which was by Sesshoumaru's study window, and saw the Ice Prince himself staring at her. `Kuso, now he knows it was me! Oh well, Rin was bound to tell him anyways' she thought. She let out a sigh before she heard Kahn's voice in the distance.
“Kagome, there you are my little prisoner!” he joked.
“Oh no! You found me! What am I to do? Man, you should really keep track of your prisoners Kahn! I almost escaped” Kagome joked also.
“Sorry `bout that. Next time I'll lock you in a smaller cell with no windows. Will that be better” Kahn smirked.
“OH NO!” she laughed.
Kahn picked her up and ran back to their camp, not hearing the silent growls coming from Sesshoumaru.

NEXT CHAPTER:
“Rin, koi, listen to me. I want you to go and stay with the others at camp. I'll be okay” Kagome said calmly.
Kagome finally lost her balance when ten of them bit her at once. Rin nodded and ran back to camp. Kagome shot her miko energy and blasted the small worms into oblivion. Tears streamed down her face when she heard Kagome yelp in pain from the far distance. Finally, when she reached camp, she saw Kahn sit up quickly.
“Kahn-kun, Kagome-chan is being attacked by little worm youkai thingies” Rin said.
“Shippou, Souta, protect her” Kahn ordered as he got up and reached for his sword.
