Inuyasha stopped in mid step and raised his nose to the air, "Sesshomaru!" he ran through the forest and came out in a near by clearing where Sesshomaru was trying to fight off Kagura. "Where's Kagome?!" He shouted and both Kagura and Sesshomaru were surprised to see him. "I know you took her so where the hell is she?" Inuyasha unsheathed his Tessiaga and held it in front of him. "Tell me where she is now!"

"I have no interest in fighting you right now dear brother" Sesshomaru slashed at Kagura who barely dodged it then shouted "Wind blades!" Sesshomaru dodged them with no problem. "The girl is about two miles away, I don't feel much like killing you now, she is in Jaken's care." Sesshomaru said in a bored tone.

"What is Sesshomaru up to?" Inuyasha wasn't sure but he re sheathed Tessiaga and with a wary look at Sesshomaru took off in the direction he had indicated. "Well it looks like I have the jump on that wimpy wolf this time! I'm glad I left last night when everyone was sleeping now I can rescue Kagome without that wolf around."

~*~ at Kagome's location~*~

"A little more and I can cut through this rope!" the knife cut the last remaining piece of the rope "there now all I have to do is get that bow and arrows!"

One of the bandits as if sensing Kagome's train of thought walked over and took the bow and arrows and placed them were an unconscious Rin lay. "Don't want you to be getting any funny ideas Girl." The man said.

"Hey men look at this!" One of the men said as he jabbed Jaken in the back with a spear, "This little guy can dance!" all the bandits dropped what they were doing to watch what was going on with Jaken. "Hey poke him again!" the men roared with laughter as Jaken ran around in small circles trying to put the fire out that had started on his pants when one of the men poked him with a burning stick.

"Now's my chance!" Kagome slipped off the tree and walked over to the form of Sesshomaru. Kagome had just reached out to take of the sutra when the form of Sesshomaru's body began to change. The skin turned red and his fancy wardrobe turned into one of a mountain priests! "It's a Tengu!" Kagome gasped as she backed up. The Tengu's eyes opened and it looked at her. She then noticed that the noise that the men where making when they were torturing Jaken had stopped. She turned around to see that the forms of the bandits were changing back into Tengu's as well. Kagome ran over to Rin and grabbed the bow and arrows up. "There are only two arrows! I have to make them last! But how?" Kagome thought desperately as she drew an arrow. Before she could let it fly a huge red hand whacked her to the ground sending the bow and arrows out of her hand. The giant Tengu who was most likely the leader of the group was standing in front of her. She looked up at the twelve foot demon in front of her in terror. The Tengu lifted up its huge hand and began to slam it down to wards her. Kagome closed her eyes and praised.

"Sankotesou!" The humongous Tengu was torn to pieces in a matter of seconds, "Kagome! Are you hurt?" Kagome ran into Inuyasha's arms and hugged him. "I'm fine!" she mumbles into his chest.

"Not for long you won't be!" yelled someone from the group of Tengu's "you killed our leader and so you must pay with your lives!"

"Keh! You think that I could be defeated by some watered down old youkai?" Inuyasha smirked and held Tessiaga out in front of him. The youkai charged at him blindly like a herd of cattle about to mow him down.

Inuyasha raised Tessiaga in the air. "Kazi no Kizu!" He shouted as he brought Tessiaga down with all the strength he had. The attacking youkai where vaporized in a heart beat. He then turned to Kagome. "Are you sure you're alright? They didn't hurt you? Did Sesshomaru hurt you?" He had both his hands on Kagome's shoulders and was staring deep into her bluish gray eyes. "Gods she's got the most beautiful eyes! Why can't I just tell her how I feel about her?"

"I'm fine Inuyasha they didn't hurt me and neither did Sesshomaru! I'm alright now!" she smiled at him and Inuyasha couldn't help but blush a little. They where brought out of there own little world by the sound of Rin moaning in pain. Kagome quickly bent down beside the girl.

"Kagome-Samma" Rin whispered as Kagome's figure came into focus.

Rin sat bolt upright and looked around in panic. "Where are they?" She gasped as she held her side. "What happened to those youkai that attacked?"

"Inuyasha destroyed them." Kagome said softly and she took the frightened girl in her arms, "everything's going to be all right."

"Where's Sesshomaru-Samma?" She said when she noticed that her Father-Figure wasn't around.

"He's probably getting rid of that damned Kagura woman." Inuyasha snorted.

"Oh." Rin then looked at Kagome. "Did those youkai things get what they wanted?"

Kagome and Inuyasha looked at the girl with confusion. "Na..Nani?" Kagome asked as she felt the girl's forehead.

"Those Tengu things! Did they get the shard that they were looking for?"

Kagome gasped and then took out the little bottle that held the only shard that they possessed since Naraku took that huge clump that they had put together. "Iie, No they didn't take the shard." Both Kagome and Inuyasha breathed a sigh of relief.

Rin looked at Kagome and then Inuyasha and asked, "What's the deal with those shards?"

"Something you wouldn't understand." Kagome said calmly, still relieved that neither the Tengu's nor Sesshomaru had taken the shard from her.

"Very well put Kagome." Inuyasha whispered in her ear.

Kagome smiled at him then turned her attention back onto Rin "Will you be Ok waiting here for Sesshomaru?"

Rin nodded "Hai! Jaken will watch me! Sesshomaru-Samma always leaves me in his care!"

"What my lord Sesshomaru sees in you child is a mystery to even me." Jaken said while rubbing his rear end, it seems that he was successful in putting out the fire.

" Well then, Kagome get on and we'll go to the others." Kagome nodded and climbed on Inuyasha's back, who took off at a run his goal completed. "I can't wait to see the look on that wimpy wolfs face when he sees that I rescued Kagome alone!"

"Aarigato Inuyasha," Inuyasha turned his head sideways to look at Kagome.

"For what?" he asked dumbly.

"For saving me silly."

"It was no problem! I couldn't just let Sesshomaru take you away! You're important to me! Erp.." Inuyasha blushed, "I can't believe I admitted something like that to her!" Inuyasha gulped hoping that she didn't pay attention to what he said, but another part of him hoped that she had.

"You're important to me too Inuyasha." Kagome said placing her head against his back. Inuyasha's face turned a deep crimson color about the same color as his yugataa. He was glad that Kagome was on his back so she wouldn't see him blush. "Does that mean that she likes me?*gulp*I wonder if she really does like me…even love me?!"

"Is any thing wrong Inuyasha?" Inuyasha was snapped back into focus when he heard Kagome's soft voice address him. "I have to tell her now; I just hope that she feels the same way about me." Inuyasha stopped next to a small pond and sat Kagome on a rock. "Kagome…" he began "I need to talk to you about something…" he trailed off and stared at his feet."Damn this is going to be hard! I have to just swallow my pride and tell her…I'll just say Kagome it took me a while to come to terms with my feelings for Kikyou but…. No that won't work! Kagome, you know how I said that you are special to me? Well I really did mean it and I just wanted you to know that I like you…a lot and do you feel the same way about me? Cause you know that I lo.."

"What is that you need to talk to me about Inuyasha?" Inuyasha's head snapped up and he found himself gazing into Kagome's liquid eyes.

"I…I..uh" Inuyasha could feel his insides turn to jelly and his legs began to get all shaky.

"Hai?" Kagome stared into Inuyasha's brilliant gold eyes and felt herself getting lost in them. Inuyasha's stomach did a summersault then a back flip and he felt completely lost for words. "I have to do this! I can't delay, I might not get another chance for a while!"

"Kagome, you're a very special person…" He began. "And I have something I need to get off my chest…." He paused and Kagome could feel her hear racing a million miles a minuet.

"Hai?" Kagome leaned closer to Inuyasha who did the same. With out thinking Inuyasha clasped Kagome's hands in his own.

"Kagome you know how I said that you where….. Uh….*gulp*…uh" Inuyasha blushed a little "well here it goes it's now or never!"

"Kagome I L…"

"KAGOME!!" Inuyasha was cut off by the joyous voices of their friends and Koga. Inuyasha dropped Kagome's hands and glared at his companions. Sango realized that they had picked the wrong moment to barge in, but what was done was done.

Koga ran up to Kagome knocked Inuyasha out of the way and brought her into a tight embrace. "You're alright!" He shouted and hugged her even more tightly, "That scum bag of a youkai didn't touch you?"

"Iie no he didn't Koga-kun" Kagome said slipping out of his embrace and walking over to stand next to Sango who sent her a couple of apologetic looks. Koga walked up to her and was about to bring her into another embrace not caring that Inuyasha was spelling death in the air with his Tessiaga when a brown wolf ran into the clearing and stopped in front of Koga, who squatted down in front of it. The wolf whined and yipped a couple of times before Koga stood up and looked at the group of travelers.

"I must take my leave, it seems that I am needed in my pack. I shall be back to check on My Kagome." Koga made sure to hyphenate my "and Mutt" he turned to give Inuyasha a threatening look. "don't try any funny business with my woman or so help you gods there won't be enough of you left to scrape onto a plate and feed to my wolfs as scraps when I get done with you!" with that last threat Koga tore off into the forest with the brown wolf in tow.

When Koga left Kagome couldn't help but yell. "I can't believe him! Walking around treating me like a piece of property! Ooh he makes me soo mad!"

Inuyasha couldn't help but think that Kagome looked really cute when she was mad at someone other then him. He then cursed his friends and that infernal Wolf for breaking in on his moment.

"I think it would be a good idea if we stayed here for tonight." Miroku said as he put down Kagome's over stuffed yellow bag. They all agreed and walked a little ways away from the pond. They set up camp and Kagome rolled out her sleeping bag. She was just about to get in when Sango took her by the arm and whispered. "I think we should go take a bath I want to talk to you."

"Sounds great Sango-Chan." The two girls walked to the pond and got undressed, then slipped into the icy cold water.

"What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?"

Miroku sat across from Inuyasha and stared at him through the fire.

"What where you doing with Kagome when we barged in on you like that?"

Inuyasha turned his head away from the monk he was still a little pissed.

"Where you maybe trying to tell Kagome that you.. I dunno Loved her?" The monk had hit the right nerve and Inuyasha sighed and looked at his friend.

"You were?!" Miroku asked in mock surprise. "I thought you had the hots for Kikyou?"

"I did but that died away when she tried to kill Kagome and me."

"I see, so you do love Kagome-Samma huh?" Miroku nodded sagely.

"Yeah…" Inuyasha looked away again and stared at the sleeping form of Shippou who was on top of Kagome's sleeping bag. "lucky kid, he's young so he can sleep next to Kagome, he can breath in her sweet sent and be comforted in the middle of the night. I can't because I haven't told her of my feelings yet."

~*~

"So we barged in on you and Inuyasha when he was about to tell you something important?" Sango cleared her throat "Kagome-Chan do you think that Inuyasha was trying to tell you of his feelings for you? I mean was he trying to say that he loved you?"

Kagome blushed and stared at the washcloth in her hands. " I dunno" she muttered and blushed even deeper as she thought of Inuyasha "Was he really trying to say that he loved me? Could it be that he feels the same way as I do? If that's true then I should tell him of my feelings for him." Kagome brought her hands to her cheeks and shook her head vigorously back and forth "I can't do that I would die of embarrassment before I even tell him anything of importance!"

"You love him too? Don't you?!" Sang giggled with delight and poked Kagome in the stomach. Kagome nodded her head slightly her cheeks now burning red. "Hai I do love him." She admitted to her best friend.

"Hey what about you and Miroku huh?" Kagome said slyly.

"I have no feelings for Hoshi-Samma!" Sango said turning bright red and turning her head away from Kagome. Kagome dropped the subject but she new better then to swallow that load of junk from her best friend. The girls toweled off and headed back into camp. No sooner had their heads hit their pillows did they fall asleep.

Kagome again found her self floating in Blackness only to start falling to wards the Crystal Lake and the island and that strange tree. Gravity was on her side this time as she landed nimbly on the ground facing the giant old tree. She again felt herself reaching over to touch the tree even though her mind screamed for her to stop, but she couldn't it was like she was being magnetically attracted to the tree. Again did she touch it and again the leaves turned to stone and fell around her as her copy then reappeared walking towards her hand extended this time Kagome stood her ground and her copy grabbed her roughly by the shoulders. It brought Kagome's head near its mouth and whispered "What you seek will be lost, only in death can you succeed in your task." Then her copy threw her into the Crystal Lake. Kagome could feel icy coldness surround her as the lake swallowed her up.

"INUYASHA!!!!!!" Kagome screamed in desperation as the darkness swallowed her and turned to night.

I hope you liked this turn of events and don't worry Inuyasha and Kagome do tell each other their feelings remember I still have a lemon scene for them in the future!
