InuYasha Fan Fiction ❯ You meen the world to me ❯ A strong evil pressance ( Chapter 7 )
Sango poured four cups full of green tea and handed then to Kaede, Miroku, and Shippou.
"Arigato Sango-Chan."
"No problem Hoshi-Samma." Sango put the cup two her lips.
"I wonder." Miroku started.
"Hmm?" Sango muttered draining her cup.
"How far Inuyasha got with Kagome" Sango spit out her tea.
"Can't you think of any thing else? Bakaro!" *smack* Miroku sported a red hand print on his right cheek.
"Will both of you cut it out?" Shippou snapped. "It's bad enough when Kagome and Inuyasha fight without you two at each others throats." Shippou sipped more tea. "If I didn't know better I'd say you two had a thing for each other."
"That's ridiculous!" Sango and Miroku shouted at Shippou. Shippou just raised his eyebrow and muttered, "Oh really."
*Whack* "Now I know why Inuyasha bops you on the head so often" Miroku said massaging his knuckles "You speak before you think."
Shippou had his hands clamped on his head and looked angrily at Miroku. "You have no heart." He walked over and lay down next to Kirara who just yawned.
"You shouldn't have hit Shippou, it might become a habit." Sango looked at Miroku with a piercing glare before turning to Kaede. "You look disturbed is there anything wrong?"
"There's an evil energy amiss and it's growing stronger at an alarming rate." Kaede said in her usual misty voice, she took a sip of tea, "I don't believe that it is Naraku either."
"Do you have any clue as to who it might be Kaede-Samma?" Miroku looked at the old Miko.
"Just an idea," Kaede finished her tea. "long ago, about one hundred or two hundred years ago. A great youkai of the northern lands gave birth to four offspring one to guard the Southern lands, Eastern lands, Western lands, and one to guard the Northern lands after that youkai's demise."
"Than what happened?" Sango looked intently at the old woman.
"The children after reaching an age left to guard their respective lands. The youkai of the north passed on leaving her lands to her only daughter. This youkai was said to have been born without a heart to guide her emotions. She ruthlessly killed humans and youkai alike without flinching. She enjoyed it, what youkai didn't? But that didn't stop her. She had to have more power. She was know as Yuriko the youngest of the Inu youkai clan."
"Did you say inu-youkai?" Miroku interrupted. Kaede glared at him before she continued.
"Hai. Yuriko wanted power over more then just the Northern lands. She moved East and killed her brother and took it as part of her territory. Her brother to the south heard of Yuriko's treachery and sent a warning to his brother to the west before he was destroyed. Yuriko's power came from her hatred of all Males. She set forth to the Western lands to destroy her oldest brother Sugimi. She had one more family member to destroy, after a hundred and fifty years of resentment she was so close to her goals she could almost taste her victory. Sugimi had fallen in love with a human and had told her of the impending doom that was soon to come."
"A human? This was fifty years ago wasn't it?" Sango interjected.
"No it has been sixty years since Yuriko was cast into a different dimension by a Miko from the Northern lands who had sworn to destroy the youkai that had caused her village so much pain."
"Sixty years ago? Then Sugimi must be Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's father." Miroku looked at Sango.
"Do you think so? But Kaede how do you know that its Yuriko?"
"She swore that she'd get even with her brother and his kin if ever the seal on the dimension was ever broken. The only way that could happen is if a descendant of that Miko was sacrificed in a spiritual ritual exactly like the one that Hitomi performed to seal that monster away."
"Ritual?" Miroku stared at Kaede.
"Where the Miko surrenders her soul to another dimension to keep a youkai sealed away for all eternity."
"So she sacrifices her chance of reincarnation to keep everyone safe?" Sango looked awed at the very thought. " That was noble of her."
"That's just the thing. She didn't surrender her soul."
"Then how did she seal Yuriko away?"
"She offered her blood instead, a mistake that might just cause the destruction of the world we know."
"Her blood? Why didn't that work?"
"Blood sours and thins over time. Slowly it disintegrates." Kaede gave a fearful look out the hut door. "When it disappears so does the seal. Yuriko will be set free on one condition."
"What is that Kaede-Samma?"
"That the one person with Hitomi's soul will have to take Yuriko's place in eternal solitude, unless Yuriko is destroyed."
"Who could that be Kaede?"
"I don't know. It has to be a Miko." Kaede stood up and excused herself "I'm tired I shall see you both in the morning."
"It has to be a Miko. It can't be Kagome-Samma, she is the reincarnation of Kikyou-Samma."
"It can't be Kaede-Samma, she's older then sixty." Miroku added.
"I'm stuck." Sango said exasperated. "We have to figure out who it is before that evil is let loose upon the world."
"You are right Sango-Chan." Miroku slid himself next to Sango. "But I think that should wait till morning." His hand slithered down to her bottom. Sango punched him hard in the head before jumping up "Touch me again and you'll be sleeping in a hole! Six feet under to be precise."
Outside a figure could be seen rising up into the sky on a feather. Kagura smiled wickedly. "So Naraku was right there is a way to bring Yuriko back. But why does he want someone as dangerous as that? I don't understand him." Kagura disappeared off into the night.
Kirara was standing at the door of Kaede's hut fully transformed. A growl rumbling deep in her chest as she watched Kagura disappear. Fire erupted around her and she changed back to normal and walked back into the hut with a glance over her shoulder. She stared at the sleeping humans and Shippou before curling up and drifting off to sleep.

Kagome's time.

Kagome woke up and looked at her alarm clock. "2:30am? Why can't I sleep? I still can't get those images out of my head." Tears trickled down Kagome's face. "I can still hear my own voice screaming for my father to hold on." Kagome sniffed and whispered to herself. "I'm sorry daddy, it was all my fault." Kagome closed her eyes and buried her head in a pillow.
Inuyasha sat up and looked at Kagome after he was sure she had gone back to sleep. He smoothed her hair away from her face and watched her sleep, "Why can't you tell me what's wrong? Kagome. What ever it is I swear I'll always protect you." He gently kissed her on the cheek before wrapping his arms around her again. "I'll protect you."
