Youkai Love

Chapter 2 - The village

Sesshoumaru watched the figure before him wearily. She was no longer the ningen wench his brother traveled with.. but something far different. She had long midnight blue hair that reached her mid back the tips iced in a frosty silver. Her petite form had also chaged soemwhat to a more dashing one eve none he was slightly attracted to. Two golden stripes blazed across her cheeks and on her brow was a green star. Although everything about her screamed beautful her eyes were probably what caugth him off guard the most. Her eyes were a metallic silver that glinted everytime the sun caught them in their light, and the depths of them of wisdom and determination caught his curiousity. Also her ears had pointed to look elfen and she had a wispy looking silver tail behind her that wrapped around one of her ankles.

She idly lifted a clawed hand and stared at it sadly. he noticed she also had golden stripes on her wrists. Flexing them once she dropped it to her side to look up at him again.

"Why do you hate humans so Sesshoumaru-san?" She said calmly.

He narrowed his eyes.

"You are not my equal wench and what I think is none of your buisness."

She shook her head slightly.

"Whatever you wish Sesshoumaru I won't argue ith you. I need to leave before Inuyasha catches up with me.."

She turned to the right and started walking away. Sesshumaru growled and in flash stood before her.

"Do you think I will let you leave wench? You are tresspassing on my lands and you must pay."

She sighed.

"I had no idea I was on your land and I am TRYING to leave."

He growled.

Suddenly she tensed and her ears swiveled slightly to the east.

He sniffed the air and smelled the stench of an oncoming oni clan.

Before he realized what he was doing he stepped in front of her to protect her. He snorted in disgust with himself.

He felt a cool hand on his shoulder and her her whsiper.

"Be careful. They are carrying three Shikon shards. Spawns of Naraku..."

He nodded long knowing her ability to see Shikon shards.

The waited in silence then all of a sudden several oni entered the clearing they stood in roarign and screetching death insults.

Sesshoumaru snorted, leaping in to the air forming his whip with his two fingers to cut them with.

Slicing two of them in half he was working on his third when he realized one heading for the girl.

he went to jump to help but the demon he was fighting slashed at him to keep him there.

Sesshoumaru growled in anger and fustration.

"DIEEE YASHA!!" It screetched.

He heard another sigh as she raised a hand to the oncoming oni. A violent light shot from her fingertips at the beast severing it in two.

Seshoumaru smirked. At least she knew how to fight.

The finsihed off the rest of them together and when the last was finished he looked up to see her but found no one was there.

he frowned and sniffed the air but only found the faint smell fo her scent and the recent use of magic.

"Damnit.. she used a spell to conceal he scent the stupid wench..." He growled.

"Sesshoumaru-sama!!" A small voice squealed as he felt something latch on to his leg.

He looke down and saw Rin's gap toothed smile.

"Rin you stupid child get back here!!" A toad youkai screamed as he too entered the clearign only to gasp and fall to his knees in a bow before his lord.

"S-sesshoumaru-sama, please forgive this lowly servant...!"

The lord looked down at the frog coldly but jsut walked past him Rin skipping behind him.

When the toad finally realized he was alone he yelped and chased after them.

"M'lord! M'lord!"

"What Jaken?" He asked annoyed.

"You have a meeting with the Eastern lord soon m'lord!"

He nodded slightly as they started off toward his keep. Girl and toad in tow.

Kagome ran through the forest at her youkai speed dodging trees and bushes. When she finally broke out in to an open feild she sighed in relief.

'I only hope that spell worked!' She thought. Her eyes scanned the town before her wearily. It look just like that of Keade's town.

Clasping her hands before her she chanted a spell to hide her demonic appearances, only leaving the silver tips in hair.

But her fangs, claws, tail, everything else was gone.

She looked down at her tattered schoolgirl uniform that bearly fit anymore.

After a few steps towards the village a shout came of a stranger approaching.

Several people came and watched her suscpiciously. She caught bits and peices of thier gossip but mostly ignored it.

As she reached to border where the town she stopped and watched them all with soulful brown eyes. As the village preistess came in to veiw she bowed.

"Child, what brings ye here? and dressed such?"

She motioned to her scarcely fitting clothes. Kagome blushed.

" I come from a village south of here by Inu yasha's forest. I am only a traveling miko and these are the only clothes I own from lack of money.."

The preistess nodded.

"Yes. I can feel the miko powers resenating from ye child. Come with me I shall give you some clothes..."

She turned and headed for a hut and Kagome followed relieved.

It turned out the villagers were nicer than Kagome originally thought.

She had gotten a plain purple yukaata from Mira, the preistess, and food in her stomach.. she felt much better.

Kagome tyed her hair up in just a simple bun and walked around the town talking to random girls, balantly ignoring all the men.

The women had found her delightful with her witty jokes and sayings that she remained the center of attention most of the day.

Then when night came she was invited to stay at several homes but decide to stay with preistess and talk.

Mira was a good listener and reminded Kagome greatly of Keade. She soon found herself telling her about all of thier Shikon travels and her friends. Only she felt a little bad because she used the name 'Yuki' here. So if Inu yasha found this town then he would run in to some trouble figuring out it was her.

Her second day was much like the first, as was the third and fourth....

After a week past Kagome was starting to get the foreboding feeling of danger. She spent most of the day saying she was out hunting or making rounds talking to people outside but was really trying to check for danger and get rid of it before anything happened.

Mira noticed her odd pacing and asked her what was wrong.

"Its nothing... really.." She said cheerfully.

That night she couldn't sleep and for good reason.

Around midnight there was loud crashing and she ran outside.

In the middle of town were three human male looking youkai. One had long red hair tied back in a horsetail. he also had bright bored looking purple eyes. The other had cropped green hair and seagreen eyes. The last had dark brown hair and scarlet eyes.

The one with green hair held a man by the shirt, his hand poised to strike the final kill.

"What buisness does ye have here?" Mira asked stepping in front of Kagome her bow pulled tauntly back ready to fire its arrow.

The demons looked up two of them smirking.

"We're on a mission from our lord, but we were getting bored so be having a little fun.." The green haired one chuckled.

Mira's temper flared as she pulled the bowstring tighter.

"Leave now demons and I will not strike." She said.

The two laughed harder at this, but the third with red hair was loking past Mira straight at Kagome.

"What is it you got there behind you preistess?" The purpled eyed demon said.

The others stopped laughing and looked too.

Mira tried shifting to hide Kagome but it wa to late.

"Look at that ningen.." The brown head one said smirking.

"She' pretty enough.." The one with green eyes said.

"Do you think we should have a little fun?"

Kagome glared at them. Finally her anger getting the best of her she stepped out in front of Mira yelling,

"You will not be touching me and if you know what's good for you, you'll leave now!!"

The others laughed.

"A filthy ningen hurt US?"

Kagome's eye twitched in annoyance and stalked over to them.

"Yuki don't--!!" Mira started but it was too late.

Kagome took deep breaths trying to control the rest of her fury. The brown haired one meanwhile was in shock. His cheek sporting a large red handprint.

"There are nothing wrong with humans!!" She said.

Suddenly the green eyes one started growling and swiped at her with his claws.

A blast from Mira sent the demon flying though.

Kagome watched them and saw their eyes flashing with anger and starting to glow.

"Child.. what have ye done?" Mira asked.

Kagome felt guilt strike her heart. But her face hardened in determination.

"Don't worry. I won't let them harm anyone.."

Mira sent her an confused look, but Kagome ignored. Instead she turned to them.

"Please leave. I don't want anyone to get hurt.. including the three of you.."

"Bitch! You have already doomed your village!"

The one with red eyes raised his hand a fireball licking his fingers. He had a malicous smirk playing on his lips as he launched it at a hut filled with a human family.

Kagome gasped.

"No..!"

She leapt after it, cupping it in between her palms smothering its flames as she landed on the ground. She winced as she felt her skin being scortched but didn't realease it until she was sure it was gone.

Kagome turned back to them anger in her eyee.

"I told you I didn't want anyone hurt!!"

The watched her slightly shocked but snarled nonetheless.

"How did you move that fast human?!"

Kagome smirked as she slowly tore her seal away on her appearance.

"Simple..." She said holding her hands out so they could see her palm as it healed itself. She felt her hair swirling around her and her fangs poked in to her lips and her face markings returning.

"...I'm not human."

Pulling power from within herself she shot it at them which she knew they'd be able to dodge.

They watched her with interest as she looked at them calmly.

"Ah.. a yasha pretending to be human.. interesting.." The green one said.

"Well this certainly does make our job easier doesn't it?" Brown haird one said.

Kagome narrowed her eyes.

"What are you talking about?"

The two demons looked at her in disbelief.

"You don't know?! What are you stupid?!"

Kagome glared at them about to retort when the red haired one spoke.

"Taka, Hanta... Stop annoying her.."

The two said immediatly did.

Kagome watched curiously as the red haired demon walked up to within five feet in front of her.

He bowed to her.

"Yasha... we are on a mission by Shoiji, demon lord of the east, to call all suitable demonesses to his palace for 1 month's festival..."

Kagome narrowed her eyes again.

"What do you mean by suitable..?"

He grinned at her.

"Sharp... each yasha we bring have to have certain requirements..."

"Which are..?"

"Smart, strong, healthy, honorable, beautiful.." he chuckled at her blush ".. and willing.."

Kagome folded her arms over her chest.

"Willign for what eaxactly and why would a demon lord be holding a festival? there is no point to.. and why only females?"

This time he laughed.

"Your the first women to notice this... Lord Shoiji is holding this festival-- more of a ball -- for Lord Sesshoumaru to find a mate..."

Kagome's eye twitched in anger as she watched the youkai before her.

"Let me get this straight... you want me to go to a festival as a possible mate to Sesshoumaru-sama..?" She asked quietly

He nodded. Seeing this behavior, the ncome the yasha acting saucy and then flirting and..

"I would not become that baka's mate if my life depended on it!!" She practically screamed.

The two demons behind him face faulted the shouted.

"You are an idiot!! DO you know what kind of riches and pampering you get by becoming a demon lord's mate!?!?!!"

Kagome glared at them.

"Of course I do. I just don't care for it..." She turned away from them. "Now go find some other hairbrained yasha to want to be his mate.."

"I can't let you go." He said stonily.

She stopped and looked at him over her shoulder.

"And why not?"

"It would be going against my lord's orders."

She turned away from them again.

"I'd like to see you try to stop me.."

"I know we can't stop you.. but we could kill every human we see from this day on.."

Kagome froze. The angry with herself.

'Damnit... they found my weakness..'

"Will you accept our offer yasha if we swear we won't hurt any of them?"

Kagome slowly turned around, glaring at them warily.

"Only by oath that you will follow your words will I go with you.."

"I swear I and my companions will.." He said solemnly.

Kagome sighed and slowly nodded.

"Fine. I accept. But I still don't like that baka.." Kagome said.

The demons just shook there heads not daring to agree with her for fear of the lord's wrath.

Kagome walked over to mira and bowed remorsefully.

"I'm sorry Mira-sama that I didn't tell you about this. I thought if I did you would--"

"Quiet child.." Mira said laying a hand on Kagome's shoulder " I understand why ye did it. But I think everyone agrees you mean us no harm. You are free to visit us anytime you wish. I thank you for what ye are doing Yuki.."

Kagome shook her head but hugged the old woman.

"Thank you... only my name is Kagome, not Yuki..." She pulled away to look at the old woman.

"May I ask you a favor though?"

"Aye Kagome.."

"If Inuyasha comes thorugh here tll him I was never here. Also keep the girls away from Miroku, and tell Shippou and the demon exterminator that I am safe. They wouldn't tell Inuyasha for anything."

"Alright child I will."

"Thanks Mira-baba..!"

"Good luck Kagome-sama!"

kagome walked over to the three demons as they turned in to the forest heading to some unknown destination.
