hey everyone, im sorry i haven't updated in a while. I've been busy lately, I'm back from my Maryland vacation with my mom and plan to update more frequently. I'm sorry for spelling errors that occured in earlier chapters and plan on trying my best not to make them any more. Now, on to the story.........

chapter 8: Kagome's return and Inu Yahsa's mistake

Sesshomaru stared out the window of his study, watching as Kagome and Rin ran through the field picking assorted flowers and laughing with one another. Kagome seemed more active, even happier since earlier that day. Rin, of course, was a lot happier now that she had a mom.

Kagome finally grew tired from all the running around and plopped onto the ground. She watched Rin run around her in circles, occasionally picking unsuspecting flowers and throwing them into the air.

"Oka-san, will you make Rin a crown?" Kagome smiled and picked some of the flowers around her, tying them together into a beautiful crown. Rin ran over and sat in front of her, bowing her head so that she could place the crown on top.

"You look beautiful Rin-chan!" Kagome said as she stood up. "Let's get some dinner." Rin nodded in agreement and grabbed onto Kagome's hand, leading her into the large dining room where Sesshomaru sat waiting.

Sesshomaru wtched from his window as they approached the castle, and heard the dinner remark. Using his demon speed, he raced to the dining room with ease, watching the two walk into the room.

Taking his seat at the head of the table, Kagome to his left, and Rin to his right. The servants walked in, carrying trays of food which were set in front of the three individuals.

Rin and Kagome quickly ate their food, with Sesshomaru watching them in disbelief. 'How can humans eat so quickly?' he asked himself, slightly disgusted at their lack of table manners. He shook his head, however, and began to eat.

After dinner, Rin and Kagome decided to get to bed early. After tucking Rin in and kissing her sweetly goodnight, she walked across the hall to her own room. Slipping into her sleeping yukutta, she lid under the sheets and fell into a peaceful sleep thinking about Shippo and how happy she'd be to see him tomorrow and bring him back with her.

Sesshomaru turned in as well. Walking into his chambers, he changed and slid into the sliky warmth of his sheets. Taking in a deep breath of Kagome's left over scent, he fell into a dreamless sleep, awaiting the morning in which he would have to appear in front of his half brother once again.

Kagome stirred in her sleep when she heard her door crack open. She sat up and opened her eyes to see Sesshomaru standing in front of her bed.

"Good morining Sesshomaru." she smiled up at him. Sesshomaru let a delicate smile form on his lips. "Good morning Kagome." Sesshomaru said, walking up to her bed and sitting down next to her. "You'd better hurry and get ready so we may retrieve your pup from the worthless halfbread." Kagome almost laughed, but decided better of it. She settled for smiling sweetly at him and nodding her head in agreement.

Sesshomaru sat on her bead recallin the earlier mornings mind argment.

Flashback

Sesshomaru sat up in his bed, relishing the last remnents of Kagome's heavenly scent.

'What is wrong with this Sesshomaru?' he asked himself.

'You, mu dear friend, are in love with the human miko, Kagome.'

'No I'm not. And besides, how would you know?'

'I would know, simply because I'm you!'

Sesshomaru gasped as the realization hit him.

"This Sesshomaru, is in love." he said aloud, but not loud enough for anyone to hear.

end Flashback

Sesshomaru brought his feet onto the bed and leaned his head against the backboard. He put his arm around Kagome, pulling her close to him. He awaited for her rejection, but instead, she snuggled in to his shoulder after getting over the initial shock of it all.

"Kagome," Sesshomaru whispered. "This Sesshomaru has never felt this way before." Kagome gasped. Trying to desipher the meaning of his words, but decided not dwell too far on it, and instead reguard her own thoughts.

She decided that if there was anything she could tell him right now, it would be 'I love you,' plain and simple, but then again. It wasn't that simple. What would he say? He had to have some kind of feelings for her by his actions, but her never ending thoughts were cut off.

"Kagome, we'll finish this conversation later, you'll need to get ready and I'm sure Rin wishes to spend time with you before our departure." Sesshomaru quickly got up and left as Rin entered the room and bounded to Kagome's bed.

Kagome got out of bed and dressed quickly while Rin laid in her bed. They then went to get something to eat.

After breakfast, Kagome told Rin that she and Sesshomaru had to go retrieve Rin's new brother and that they would be back later that day. Rin agreed at the prospect of having a new brother and gladely let the adults own their way.

Once outside, Sesshomaru pulled Kagome into his arms and took off towards the place in which his brother had last been located. They flew for what seemed like hours to Kagome who was anxious to see her beloved Shippo. She didn't care though, not with her postion.

Kagome's arms were around Sesshomaru's neck, her face burried in the crook of his neck, hidden from the wind. Her legs were locked around his waist so she would feel safer. Sesshomaru's arms were wrapped protectively around her lower back, holding her lithe form closely to his fine, muscle toned body.

Sesshomaru caught the scent of the monk and the exterminator along with the kit's and the fire cat's, but no Inu Yasha and no undead miko to make the exchange of the kit's care any harder then he thought it would already be.

"Inu Yasha and the dead miko are not with your comrades. They may return to the castle along with us is they have left the hanyou, so I may gather more information on this Naraku." Kagome smiled against his skin, and he felt it. Along with her warm breath as she whispered, "Arigato, Sesshomaru."

He shivered lightly, and touched ground when the others on the fire cat did the same. Sango and Miroku stared wide eyed at the sight before them, Shippo was asleep, and Kirara just smiled knowingly and transfored into her smaller self as to rest for a small amount of time.

"We are here." Sesshomaru gently placed Kagome down but kept an arm around her hips until she blotled towards her friends. Sango, just getting over her shock, almost fell over from force. Miroku just smiled slyly at the demon lord and awaited his hug.

Seconds later, a loud growl, and an ear ringing slap rang throughout the forest. Miroku was now unconscience, and Kagome was protectively in Sesshomaru's embrace.

"Where is Shippo and Kirara?" Sango pointed behind her and sure enough, there lay a sleeping kitsune youkai and a smiling neko youkai. Sesshomaru let go of Kagome and watched as she gathered the two demons in her arms. Shippo woke up and instantly had a death grip on Kagome's waist. Kirara immediatley began purring and mewing sofly.

Once everyone had the'r little reunion, Sango spoke. "Kagome-chan, I'm afraid we have some bad news." Kagome instantly shifted her gaze to the taijiya, a worried expression plastered on her face. Sesshomaru quickly walked to her side and gathered her into his arms. Shippo and Kirara thought it would be better off, and walked towards Sango so that she could give the remaining information.

"Unsurprisingly, Inu Yahsa and Kikyo are mates, but it came with a price. Inu yahsa was to hurt you." Sango continued.

"But I'm not hurt Sango-chan." Kagome said. "And if they're already mates then doesn't that mean that they've already done whatever it was that would hurt me? I mean, you guys are fine, and my family," Kagome's eyes widened, fully aware of what was to be said next.

"Your mother and grandfather are fine, they weren't home." "Sota!" Kagome yelled. "What about Sota?" Kagome's tears were streaming down her face now, she was frantic.

"Inu Yasha and Kikyo have your brother. The well was destroyed. But if your brother is to be safe, Kikyo requires her soul." Sango was now crying too. She couldn't handle her own brother gone, and now Kagome had to go through the same thing. No more fanily, no more little brother since she was to die for his safety. Sango already knew she would.

"Sango, would you take in Sota for me? You and Miroku as his parents since I won't be able to?"

Sango and Shippo dropped to the ground, Miroku had tears trailing down his cheeks, and Kirara was in the same statuse as Shippo. Sesshoaru, however, held the crying girl closer, hatred, anger, and revenge for putting his Kagome in pain burning through his veins, causing his blood to boil.

Inu Yahsa had made a big mistake!
