Chapter 9: Confrontation
When Sesshomaru and Kagome reached camp, they parted from each other and went to sleep. Kagome crawled into a sleeping bag Sango had set out for her and Sesshomaru slept against the base of a nearby tree.
Sango and Miroku were closer then normal, but Kagome didn't bother trying to find an explanation and decided that Sango probably didn't know. Kagome sighed as she closed her eyes, thinking about tomorrow and what was to come.
Kagome's dream
It was dark and cold, a dead aura filled the room. She looked around, trying to find out where she was, but all she could see, was darkness and a small flicker of light every so often, showing her the walls with no door to escape from.
This time the lights flicked, she saw someone sitting in a corner, knees drawn up to their chest with their head in their knees and hands wrapped around them for warmth. "Hello?" she whispered.
Nothing
"Hello?" Kagome walked over to the person in the corner when she didn't get a response. She timidly sat down next to the person and brought their head up. He immediately flinched, but she saw that he was a boy. "It's okay, I won't hurt you." This time, the boy slowly brought his head up to look her in the eye.
Kagome gasped. "Souta!" she went to wrap her arms around him but stopped when he turned away and backed further into the corner.
"Who are you?"

Kagome sat up in her bag, her heart was racing. "No." she whispered. "Inu Yasha how could you?" Kagome's tears were streaming freely from her eyes as she sat there. Wrapping her arms around her self for comfort, she continued to cry quietly, but not quietly enough.
The next minute, she was in someone's arms. At first she tensed, but relaxed when she realized it was just Sesshomaru.
"Why are you crying." It was more of a demand then a question. Kagome turned herself to face the taiyoukai, but remained in his embrace.
"He, he doesn't remember." Kagome stared up at Sesshomaru, her eyes begging for help. She needed to know her brother would be okay. She needed to know that he'd be there, as her brother, when they finally found Kikyo and Inu Yasha. She didn't want him to be there as a stranger.
"Shhhh, it's okay Kagome, how did you come to the conclusion that your brother doesn't know you?" Sesshomaru ran his clawed hand gently up and down her back.
"In my dream, Souta he was chained. I went to help him and he asked me who I was." Sesshomaru didn't know how to help her at the moment, she needed to believe that her brother would be okay, but he wouldn't lie to her, he wasn't sure what would happen.
'I swear, that mutt and his bitch will get what they deserve.' He silently promised her. 'No one will hurt her and get away with it, not while I'm alive.'
Kagome had finally calmed down and cried herself to sleep. Sesshomaru sighed and slid them both into her sleeping bag.

"Kikyo, what are you doing?" Inu Yasha asked.
"I'm sending her false images. The more stressed she becomes, the weaker her powers will become. If she drowns herself in her sorrow, her powers will no longer be. She'll have no will, no reason to live and will want to die. And if that fails, her power will not be enough to beat me. I came before her, and will be here after her demise."
"What about her brother, Souta?" he asked.
"So you know him." It was more of a statement, so he didn't bother answering. "What else do you know about her that we can use to bring her down?"
"There' always Shippo. She loves him like her son, and would do anything to get him back along with her brother, even if that means her life. But then again, her maternal instincts are growing so much, that could very well send her into a rage." Inu Yasha said, a little too calmly for the situation considering Kikyo shook her head fiercely and turned away.
"I'll talk to the boy."

"So, Souta is it?" he nodded. "Well, Souta, how would you like to see your sister one last time before her death?" Souta's eyes widened before filling with tears. Kikyo smirked. "Well then , I'll be back for you a bit later. I'll take you to see your precious Kagome today to confront her with the situation, and if I can, maybe kill her. But that depends on whether Lord Sesshomaru accompanies her as well."

Sango woke up and noticed Miroku had a shocked expression on his face, as well as disbelief. "What is it Miroku?" He didn't seem to hear her so she sat up and turned to see what was so shocking.
Sango gapped at the sight before her. Kagome and Sesshomaru's sleeping bag had become unzipped during the night and was now just underneath them. Kagome was slightly on her side, and slightly underneath the taiyoukai. Her arms were wrapped around his neck, her fingers tangled in his hair. Kagome's face rested against his neck, a content smile gracing her features.
Sesshomaru's left arm was underneath her, coming around her waist to pull her snugly against his chest. His right arm was wrapped around her lower back, with his hand resting on her hip. Their legs were tangled together, and his tail was wrapped around them for extra warmth.
"Sango, would you do me the honor of bearing my children?"
"NO!" she yelled causing the two to stir, though no one noticed no that attention had been directed elsewhere.
"Hm, I thought there might be something wrong with everyone, but I guess you seem unaffected my dear Sango. Maybe we just missed something." They looked back at Kagome and Sesshomaru who were disentangling from one another. They instantly noticed the deep blush on Kagome's cheeks, and the faint line of pink on Sesshomaru's. Though it disappeared a second after they'd noticed it, they were both sure it was there.
"Is there something you wish to tell me Kagome-sama?" Miroku asked. Sango sighed and rolled her eyes as Kagome's blush darkened even more, if possible.
"No, Miroku there's not."
"How about you, Sesshomaru-sama?" This time Sango slapped him and rendered the poor monk unconscious. Sesshomaru just looked at him and turned away to watch Kagome put her sleeping bag away. 'I'll have to make a not to sleep with her more often.' were his thoughts before the wind shifted.
Sesshomaru growled and pushed Kagome behind hum protectively. Kagome gasped when she saw Sesshomaru draw his Toukijin. She drew an arrow and knocked in to her bow.
Kikyo and Inu Yasha emerged from the trees on the other end of the clearing. Kikyo held a sleeping Souta gently in her arms.
"Put him down!" Kagome yelled, stepping out from behind Sesshomaru.
Kikyo laughed. "Shhhh, you don't want to wake him do you?" Kagome drew her bowstring back, and pointed her arrow at Inu Yasha when Kikyo used Souta as a shield.
"Ka, Kagome." Inu Yasha stuttered. "You wouldn't." Inu Yasha crossed his arms defiantly across his chest. When Kagome pulled her bowstring further, he drew Tetsusaiga. Inu Yasha gasped when the rusted katana didn't transform.
"Kikyo's not exactly human Inu Yasha. You can't use a sword meant to protect humans to kill humans can you?" Inu Yasha growled loudly. He threw Tetsusaiga over his shoulder and smirked when he saw the bewildered looks on everyone's faces.
"I don't need Tetsusaiga to kill you, Kagome."

J/k I'm not that mean!
Kagome gasped and Sesshomaru stood in front of her once again. "You will not threaten her Inu Yasha, nor will you take it upon yourself to harm her. If you do, you'll not love long enough to see your death coming." Sesshomaru said, his voice was laced with fury as he spoke.
"We did not come here with the intent to harm you. We merely came to state that Kagome's brother will only be returned with Kagome's soul, or life as some would put it. We give you three days, any longer and Souta could come to terrible harm. Or maybe, we should just relieve him of the stress pain would cause right now. What do you say girl? One as weak as you can not harm me, or beat me for that fact. So maybe you should give up and die here and now."
"I am not WEAK!" Kagome yelled, aiming her arrow at Kikyo once more. Kagome scanned her body, and found a way to hit Kikyo without harming Souta. She let her arrow fly, piercing Kikyo in the side.
Kikyo screamed out and dropped Souta as she fell to the ground. Sesshomaru quickly restrained Inu Yasha, who came running after Kikyo yelling her name. Kagome ran to her brother, lifting him into her arms.
Inu Yasha was now unconscious and Sesshomaru was about to lay the last blow to Kikyo, until s small hand wrapped around his own. "No, Sesshomaru please." Sesshomaru looked at Kagome and nodded. She still held Souta in her arms and was starting to get worried as to why he didn't awaken.
"Do not worry, he'll be fine. They used a potion to make him sleep. He'll be out until tomorrow." Sesshomaru said.
The rest of the group, who realized it was not their place to interfere, walked behind Kagome and Sesshomaru as they left the clearing.
