-Chapter 11-
Riku watched the moonlight sparkle on the water as Kadaj's ship sped
across the dark ocean. It had been nearly a month since he'd left the
Black Pearl. Since then his morning sickness had stopped, but his
body was now beginning to feel the first aches of pregnancy.
"Now, Riku," Kadaj admonished him whenever he'd complain, "You chose
to carry it, so you have nothing to moan about."
"I couldn't let her carry it," Riku argued. "She's utterly vile."
"You sound angry," Kadaj observed.
"I'm pregnant and stuck here with a man who claims I'm not even a
real human being."
"Why is it so important for you whether you're human or not?" Kadaj
wanted to know.
"I want to know that what Sora and I feel for each other is real,"
Riku told him. "If I'm a Nobody, then everything I ever felt was
just a lie."
"I told you. You are Sephiroth's Nobody, just like I'm his Heartless,
for lack of a better term. But you have half a heart because we are
sharing the one Sephiroth discarded."
"Is half a heart enough to love with?" Riku asked.
"I don't know," Kadaj admitted. "I've never tried."
They lapsed into silence as the ship glided across the water, Kadaj
deep in thought about what kind of person he might fall in love with.
Riku already knew the type he wanted, and he was sadly wondering if
Sora really was looking for him.
After a while, Kadaj spoke. "We'll be reaching land soon."
"Where are we going in such a hurry, anyhow?" Riku asked as they got
to their feet.
Kadaj smiled mischievously as he took the helm, "Do you like carnivals?"

Leon drew back from the lingering kiss he'd given Laguna. "Your mom
would throw a million fits if she knew you had fallen in love with
your own son." He reached for the top button of Laguna's shirt, but
the older man stopped him.
"Squall..." he began.
"Leon," Squall corrected him.
"Right. Leon," Laguna pulled out of Leon's arms and crossed the room.
"Remember, we promised ourselves we'd never act on our love."
"I regret making that promise," Leon told Laguna. "Right now, seeing
you alive and well, I want nothing more than to make love to you."
"I want that, too," Laguna admitted. "But we can't You know that."
Leon suddenly pinned Laguna against the wall, and captured his lips
for the second time.
"Leon," Laguna gasped. "Someone will see you. This is Merlin's living
room, not a suite in the Galbadia Hotel."
"They won't be back for hours," Leon told him, renewing the kiss and
pressing more tightly against Laguna.
"We managed to find a few items that might be" Cid began as he walked
in. He dropped the items he'd been carrying when he saw what was
going on. "I thought Laguna was your dad."
Leon leapt back from Laguna. "I didn't hear you come in."
"What the fuck is up with you two," Cid demanded. "You sure aren't
acting like father and son. Laguna here doesn't even look old enough
to be your dad. You sure about this?"
"I spend a great deal of time in cryosleep because of my frequent
visits to Adel's tomb," Laguna explained. "As a result, my son and I
are very close insofar as our physical ages."
"Which is why we didn't realize we were related until after we had
fallen deeply in love with each other." Leon concluded as Aerith
walked in.
"That must be very hard for you," the Cetra girl sympathized.
Leon nodded.
"What's hard for Leon?" Sora asked as he and the rest of the
Radiant Garden Restoration Committee walked in.
"That's for Leon to say," Aerith told them. She wasn't going to
gossip about Leon's love-life.
"So, Leon," Sora pried, "care to tell us?"
Leon glanced quickly at Laguna, then busied himself going over the
new items that had just been brought in, studying each one carefully.
"Come on, Leon," Sora fished. "What's up?"
"Busy," Leon reminded himself of Fujin as he helped Laguna store
them, his hand lingering whenever it overlapped Laguna's.
Sora caught this and after a while, he decided to ask Leon about
it. "Are you and Laguna... in love?"

The view of the ferris wheel just beyond the beach was impressive
when viewed from the helm of Kadaj's ship.
"Behold," Kadaj pointed toward in with the dramatic flair of a
barker, "Dark's Pandemonium Carnival!"
