-Chapter 12-

Sora was standing on the bridge that made up the entrance to the
Bailey when a black feather landed on his shoulder.

Looking up, he saw Sephiroth descending toward him, his sword drawn
for battle.

Leaping out of the way, just in time, Sora drew his Keyblade and
lunged at Sephiroth, determined to disarm him. He didn't want to kill
the winged man. There were too many questions that he needed answers

"Good," Sephiroth laughed, blocking Sora's blow. "Its been a while
since I've face a truly worthy opponent. "But you'll have to do a lot
better if you're going to destroy me."

"I don't want to destroy you," Sora told him, "I just want to know
something. Please?"

"I'll tell you if you beat me," Sephiroth nodded.

Lunge! Block! Parry!

After what felt like at least twenty minutes of this, Sora was
beginning to wear down. He knew if he didn't find an opening soon,
Sephiroth would probably win.

Sephiroth sensed triumph would soon be his. Raising his arm, he made
as if to summon the gods themselves to witness the final blow.

Sora saw how Sephiroth had thrown back his head, his eyes fixed on
the heavens. With the last bit of strenght he could muster, he struck
Sephiroth's hand with his keyblade, knocking Masamune from his grip
and sending it flying a couple feet off.

"Fair's fair," Sephiroth said, sounding impressed. "So, what did you
want to know?"

Sora got right to the point. "Did you ever love anyone?"

Elizabeth Swann, or Turner depending on whom you asked, stood aweather
on the deck of the Black Pearl wearing a worried expression as the rain
pelted her face.

"Hey, Liz," Will joined her, putting his coat over her shoulders.
"We'll find them. I promise."

"We never should have let him take Riku," Elizabeth said, scolding
herself along with the others. "That young man needs looking after.
I can only pray that we can find him before the baby comes."

"And what, pray tell, are we meant to do about it?" Jack wanted to know.
"Even if we do find him, chances are he'll still die in childbirth."

Elizabet and Will turned to face him. "Maybe he will at that," she
accepted. "But as least he'll die in a bed, attended by people who
actually care about him."

"You two had better get below if you want to go on helping me to look
for him, then" Jack told them as he manned the helm. "The weather's
not too bad, but better men than you or I have often been felled by
foul weather."

"Thank you," Elizabeth told him as made her way to her cabin.

Gloved hands lowered the telescope that had been focusing on the
swift vessel as it neared the coast.

"Well, Mr. Cooger," the owner of the hands told the short, wretched
man who stood beside him, "it seems our little show has attracted a
pair of lads from a land even further than from whence we came."
He folded the telescope and stuck it in his breast pocket. "Shall
we welcome our new visitors?"

"Be careful," the veiled woman to his other side warned, "The one who
is with child is stronger than even yourself."

"With child?" Dark made a dismissive gesture with his hand. "Pshaw!
Anyone can see those are both young men. And neither is much past
his salad days."

"Young men they may be," the Dust Witch warned, "but mark my words or
you shall fall again as you did at the hands of those two boys so
many autumns ago."

"A minor setback," Dark told her. "But never mind that now. Let us
extend the hand of welcome to these newcomers."

"I do so against my better judgement," the witch told him, returning
to her trailer to make preparations.
