-Chapter 16-
"You can't do this," Kadaj drew his sword, rushing at the strong man
who stood between him and Dark as the cruel man placed Riku back onto
the carousel.
"The child growing inside you will have power beyond even my dreams,"
Dark told Riku, ignoring Kadaj for the moment, "It is most fortunate
for him that you have come here. I shall raise him as my own. And
when he is ready, he shall work in my shadow."
"My son will never be your slave," Riku vowed, crying out in agony as
the carousel came to a halt at the onset of labor.
"Hurry up," Dark demanded, impatiently. "Or must I place you on the
carousel once more."
"Do that, and you won't get the heir you so desperately seek," Riku
warned. He closed his eyes, focusing on remembering how he had once
opened pathways through the darkness. He felt the pathway open in
his abdomen, an odd sensation to be sure. He reached into it and
grasped the child, drawing it out into the world along with the
afterbirth.
Weakened from the effort, he could not stop Dark from taking the
child from his arms and placing him on the carousel.

"We heard Riku was here," Sora told Jack Sparrow as soon as he,
Donald, and Goofy were safely aboard the Black Pearl.
"He was," Jack nodded, "until a young man who looked like his twin
sailed up to us, just as bold as could be, and sped off with him."
"That must've been Sephiroth's Heartless," Sora realized. "Any idea
where they were going?"
"None," Jack admitted. "Only that we're sailing in the same general
direction that they were. If luck is on our side, we'll either catch
up with them or land at the same port they did."

Dark grinned at the boy who lay on the revolving carousel, aging
before his eyes as the ride's magic did it's work. "Now," he said,
as he turned and faced Riku, "we don't need you anymore."
He raised his hand to strike a killing blow, But at that moment,
a burst of dark energy struck him, knocking him to the ground.
Getting to his feet, Dark turned to see who it was who would dare
attack him.
Standing beside the now-empty carousel was a young man who resembled
Maleficent for the most part, except that his skin was a paler, more
attractive shade of green and he had Riku's eyes.
"How dare you attack your own father," Dark demanded.
"I know in my heart who my true father is," the unnamed man answered,
stepping between Dark and Riku, "and I, Yamiki, won't let you hurt
him."
"Nor will I," Kadaj vowed, taking a stand alongside Riku's self-named
son.
*****
"Looks like we might be in luck after all," Jack said, pointing at the
boat anchored not far off from what looked like a seaside carnival.
"That's the ship your friend went off in."
