-Chapter 17-
Riku sat up, the world still spinning around him as he slowly began
to recover from the recent trauma his body had been forced to endure.
His heart swelled with pride as his son did battle with Dark. The
young man was a natural.
Dark gave a cry of triumph as his sword-cane cut into his opponent's
shoulder, knocking him to the ground so violently, that his right leg
was broken.
Yamiki glared up at Dark as the cruel man prepared to take what he
hadn't already stolen of his life. With a broken leg, there was no
way he could avoid the final strike.
Dark made his critical mistake then. Certain his foe was down for the
count, and could be dealt with at leisure, he turned to Riku. "It's a
shame your son decided to fight me," he gloated. "Now, you shall have
the priviledge of watching me destroy him. Perhaps I shall age him
until he is dust and bones. Or youthen him until he has never been.
I really don't want to deal with two toddlers," he gestured toward
the veiled woman who was holding a struggling two-year-old Kadaj in
her grip.
The woman placed a hand on Kadaj's head and began to sing, softly,
erasing the memories of his adult life from him as she watched her
master raise his hand to strike the killing blow.
Yamiki might not have survived, if not for blind luck. For, he was
the child of a sorceress. And in his pain, he hand placed a hand
upon his wounded leg. The break repaired itself, though not quite
instantly.
As Dark gloated, Yamiki slowly got to his feet, Riku's keyblade still
clasped firmly in his hand. He quietly got to his feet, walked over
to Dark, and with no unneccessary words, delivered the final blow just
as Sora, and his party arrived accompanied by Jack, Will, and
Elizabeth.
Not wishing to be naked in the presence of a lady, Yamiki headed into
Dark's trailer.
"Riku, was that..." Sora nodded in the direction Yamiki had gone in.
Riku nodded. "His name's Yamiki."
Yamiki came out of Dark's tent now. He had dressed himself in a pair
of straight-legged pants that were tucked into knee-high black boots
a button-down black shirt from which he had torn off both sleeves. A
black cloak and top hat completed the ensemble.
"Now there's a fine-looking young man," Jack appraised, "even if he
does look a bit green."
"He has his father's eyes," Elizabeth couldn't help remarking.
"And his skill," Will appended.
Wordlessly, having just dealt with her master, Yamiki turned to the
veiled woman.
She released Kadaj who scampered over to Yamiki and climbed up into
his arms.
Then Yamiki turned back to the group and followed them back to the
Black Pearl.

"I hope Sora and the others are okay," Aerith said as she walked over
to Cid and gazed at the computer screen over his shoulder.
"We're fine," Sora said as he stood in the open doorway.
Aerith hugged all of her friends, then turned to Yamiki while Kairi
was hugging Riku and Sora. "I'm Aerith," she told him. "And this is
my good friend Cid."
Cid grunted and gave a wave.
"Yamiki," Riku's son told her, putting the child he was carrying down
and leaning against the wall. "And this little one is Kadaj."
"Sephiroth's Heartless," Cid realized.

"Are you ready to go home, Sora?" King Mickey asked. "Your families
must miss you."
"Not yet," Sora told him. "I'd like to stay one more day. We really
could use a vacation."
Riku, Yamiki, and Kairi nodded in agreement.
"I'll be back on Monday morning, then," the King told them. "And,
Riku?"
Riku gave a small sign of acknowledgement.
"Congratulations." The King told him as he vanished. "And be sure to
congratulate Sephiroth for me as well." His voice came to them from
wherever he had gone.
"What did he mean congratulate Sephiroth?" Sora asked as they
explored the town together. It seemed so much different now that
the battles were over.
"Beats me," Riku shrugged. He smiled as he caught sight of a sign
which read 'Scrooge McDuck's Ice-Cream Emporium'. "Hey, Donald," he
pointed. "Looks like your uncle managed to find that flavor he was
looking for."
"Let's try it," Kairi grinned, putting her arms around her two best
friends and ushering them toward the door as she motioned the rest of
the party to follow her.
"I see you've found what you were looking for."
Sora turned at the sound of Sephiroth's voice. He stared wordless for
a long moment, as his mind tried to wrap itself around what his eyes
were seeing.
Sephiroth was leaning on the jukebox, eating an ice-cream cone.
"Kadaj," Riku said, unexpectedly, letting his heart guide his words.
"This is Sephiroth. He's your father."
"Now just a minute!" Sephiroth protested. "There is no way in hell
that I..." His voice trailed off as Kadaj scampered over to him and
gave him a hug.
"Don't be mad at me, Daddy," Kadaj pleaded, sweetly.
"I'm not mad at you, son," Sephiroth told him. Realizing what he'd
called the child, he smiled in resignation as he led Kadaj over to
a table and gave him the rest of his ice-cream cone.
Maleficent stood at the window, her eyes glistening with tears as she
watched Riku enjoying his own ice-cream with Sora, Kairi, and a man
she realized must be the child she had forced upon Riku.
"I'm sorry, Riku," she whispered as she vanished, having realized far
too late that she had loved him.
