CHAPTER SIXTEEN: Luciola's return

 

Lavi could hear her name but she didn't want to wake up she was having the most wonderful dream and she was so warm and comfortable too. She heard her name again and with a small grown she opened her eyes to see Dio's smiling face. She was confused how she had ended up so near to him and in his arms no less. Her face showed her confusion and she wondered if perhaps she hadn't been dreaming that maybe it had happened. She snapped out of her confused daze hearing Sophia's voice over the intercom saying that they had successfully brought the Sylvana into the air once more.

 

Dio lightly woke Lavi wanting to know if she was hungry he was confused to see her expressions of confusment and surprise when they had heard Sophia on the intercom. He looked down at Lavi as she looked from the intercom to his face a light blush creeping across her face. It made Dio smile at her innocence his heart squeezed almost painfully making him draw her close in a tight embrace. He didn't know why he hadn't realized his feelings for her before but then he had been in a panic about his earth day coming up and the thought of what Delphinae would do to him. His thoughts drifted to Luciola wondering if he was okay hoping that he had been as cautious as he had said he would be.

 

Lavi's eyes went wide in shock as Dio pulled her into a tight hug, she didn't know what to think on one hand this man had raped her and tortured her almost nightly but he had seemed to become a different man all together these past few days. She thought of Claus and how he had also changed these past few days, changed into a stranger that she didn't know anymore. She was very confused she wanted to believe that Dio was different but could this be another one of his tricks to make her do his bidding? Her head swam with questions and she wanted answers but she was to confused at the moment to think straight or even to form the questions she knew that were there.

 

Dio loosened his hold on Lavi and gently brought him and Lavi into a leaning position, she seemed lost in her thoughts and he used this time to gently hold her in his embrace. He knew that she must be getting hungry and the thought was soon confirmed when her stomach growled bringing her out of her thoughts to blush even more. Dio just gave her a smile and said

“Are you hungry? I can get you something if you are.” Lavi gave a weak smile and slowly nodded her head embarrassed that her stomach had given her away so easily. She sat up feeling slightly lonely as she felt Dio's arms fall away. She watched him get off of the bed and stretch out making a few bones pop. He walked to his chair and pulled on his robes quickly spinning around dropping his face to Lavi's giving her a light kiss on the lips. He almost gave a laugh at the surprise that was plastered all over her face. He lifted her chin in the palm of his hand and said

“I will be back soon don't worry about the mess in the room I will pick it up and make the bed. I will also make sure to bring back an apple since you seem to be in love with the fruit.” He gave a small giggle at his joke and slowly slid his fingers from her face giving it a small caress as his fingers left her chin and with that he turned opening the door and quickly shutting it behind him.

 

Lavi was surprised that the metallic sound of the lock never came and for a moment she thought of leaving but then the thought came that she no longer had anyone to go to now that Claus had changed almost as if he'd never even known her. A tear glided down her face and she quickly whipped it away thinking that now was her chance to smooth out some of the many questions that clouded her mind. Lavi tried to concentrate but then she thought about what Dio had said about the room she gave a giggle as her mind asked if Dio had ever made a bed little alone if he knew how. She shook her head and tried to focus she wanted to get her mind all straightened out before Dio came back she didn't know when she would be alone again.

 

Lavi put her chin on her fist and cleared her mind of everything that didn't have to do with the way she had been feeling lately. And finally the gears in her mind started to move and the questions came like why did she actually want to be held by her rapist or could she really believe that Dio had changed? Her mind brought up question after question finally grinding to a halt after asking what do I actually feel for him? She didn't know how to answer that one she wasn't sure she even liked him but somehow she had ended up in this situation being married and pregnant to some one whom had been so abusing and cruel to her and then changing as if he had multiple personalities. Her eyes narrowed in thought as pictures of Dio raping her and then pictures of him holding her comforting her flashed in her mind. And after a few minutes of deep thought all she had decided was if Dio had changed and really did want to make amends then she wasn't going to make it easy for him. Lavi knew that if he persisted that she would most likely eventually give in thinking of the life inside of her, she laid her hand on her flat stomach wondering if she would have a daughter or a son. A small smile grew on her lips as she thought of having someone who would give her unconditional love no matter what happened. And she was truly happy she knew that she would do anything for her child even if it meant forgiving it's father her eyes narrowed her mind adding if he deserved to be forgiven. She would make him work long and hard to win her and their child and if he gave up then she would leave him child in tow she would go were he could never find her even with the guild's help. She wondered silently if there was such a place but she knew in her heart that if there wasn't she would make one.

 

Lavi's thoughts turned back to when she had explored Dio's face, she sat there clenching her teeth at the thought of giving her child those horrible marks but she quickly calmed herself down knowing that she would never let that happen no matter if it was tradition or not as long as there was a single breath in her body she would not let the guild mark her child in anyway shape or form. Her child would be free to do as it pleased the same way she had grown up except this time she would make it right by making sure her child had at least her as a parent. It wouldn't ever have trouble sleeping at night because of hunger, she would sell her body before she let her child starve but hopefully she wouldn't ever need to, that is if Dio did finally feel for her she would not have her child growing up in a home that held no love. If Dio wanted them and he worked hard enough to get them she would learn to love him whether for herself or for her child she knew this much was true and would never change.

 

Dio walked back from the cafeteria a tray in his hands he took his time lost in his thoughts of how to get in to Lavi's graces. He was so deep in thought he gave a small jump almost dropping the tray when he heard

“Lord Dio I have returned and I have done what you have asked.” Dio grave a large grin turning towards the familiar voice saying

“Luciola!” Luciola stud before him a small smile on his face. Dio took the tray into one hand and embraced his friend with his free arm. He had missed Luciola more than he thought and he started quietly cry into his dear friend's shoulder. When Dio's tears had stopped flowing he released Luciola taking his hand and leading him to the room were Lavi waited for him.

 

Dio reluctantly let go of Luciola's hand and opened the door walking into the room placing the tray of food in front of Lavi who surprised him with a weak thank you. He gave her a nod and said

“Luciola has returned isn't that great Lavi?” He motioned to the door as Luciola walked inside. Lavi gave a slight blush and said a small hello and then turned to the food on the tray. Dio was excited at Luciola's return he had so much to talk to his friend about and quickly excused himself telling Lavi that he and Luciola were going for a walk around the ship, Lavi gave a nod her mouth full of food and with that Dio and Luciola left the room closing the door behind them. Luciola waited till they had turned the corner to another hallway before he started to speak

“Lord Dio I have done as you asked and spread the word among the guild.” Dio replied

 

“And Delphinae?”

 

“I am sure she has heard the news by now and will be very furious Lord Dio, you know that you were her favorite.” Dio nodded confirming that he indeed knew that Delphinae favored him above the rest. Luciola started to talk again

 

“Lord Dio I have also heard rumors that the Sylvana is headed into battle.”

 

“Is that so?”

 

“Yes Lord Dio it seems the whole ship is talking about it.”

 

“Well then I guess it is time for us to leave then don't you Luciola?”

 

“And Alvis Lord Dio what do you plan to do with her?” Dio looked deep in thought as he said

 

“I am not so sure anymore, I know that Delphinae is furious by now but with the final battle coming I don't think she will have much time to deal with me. And on the other hand Lavi seems to really care about Al….. So maybe we will just take her with us, what do you think Luciola?”

 

“But Lord Dio what if Delphinae finds out she will surely come after us!” Dio gave his friend a reassuring smile saying

 

“That is were Alex comes in.” Dio looked at Luciola's confused expression and continued

 

“I have decided that I will talk to Alex telling him that Alvis will be further away from Delphinae's grasp if she is no longer aboard. The catch is that no one will know she is no longer aboard making Delphinae believe that she is indeed here on the Sylvana.”

 

“But Lord Dio will Alex trust you enough to have Alvis?”

 

“I believe so she really isn't much good to Delphinae if she doesn't possess all of the mysterian and since I know for a fact that Alex knows two of the mysterian I will tell him that I do not require any knowledge of them making it clear that if Delphinae ever found out about our little escapades it wouldn't really matter because I wouldn't posses the mysterian making it impossible for her to avoid fighting the Sylvana. I will also explain to Alex that Alvis is safer with us because he is already in danger possessing the two mysterian.” Luciola looked uncertain as he asked

 

“Are you sure that Alex will believe you Lord Dio?”

 

“Yes I believe I do Alex is a man of logic and my idea seems to be the most logical of the choices.” Luciola gave a small smile saying

 

“You have changed since the last time we met Lord Dio.” Dio returned Luciola's smile saying

 

“I guess I have.” The two friends stood in the middle of the hallway a hand on each other's shoulder. Dio tilted his head to the side saying

 

“We are friends are we not Luciola?” A small tear glided down Luciola's cheek as he quietly nodded. And Dio continued

 

“Then let me share the reason with you as to why I have changed.” Dio lightly took Luciola's hand in his leading him down a dark hallway and into the room that had changed everything. He sat down on the edge of the bed Luciola walking over to a chair pulling it in front of Dio a look of confusion across his face as he said

 

“Why have you brought me hear Lord Dio?” Dio looked down at his hands pulling at a string coming from one finger of his glove and he gave a light blush as continued

 

“Do you remember this room Luciola?” And he continued after Luciola gave a nod

 

“Well I have finally come to grips with how I really feel for Lavi. I know I have been heartless to her taking pleasure in her pain but for some reason that has now reversed. I am happy when she is happy and I am sad when she is sad I even feel concern when something is wrong. Now before her the only person I ever really cared for was you Luciola. I didn't know what to think anymore, I had indeed raped someone dear to me. I felt guilt beyond belief once I realized that my love had indeed come from my obsession with her.” He paused giving a small laugh, he raised his eyes to see Luciola's expression and was taken back when he was met with a smile and a sad pair of eyes he got a nod from his friend and continued on

 

“I didn't know what to think at first I knew that I did indeed desire Lavi but I didn't know if there was truly more to it than just that. I finally realized my complete feelings for her when I entered the room one time and there she was sobbing just kneeling there in front of the bed. And almost out of instinct I pulled her into my arms and held her as she cried. It made my heart ache knowing that I had caused her so much pain. I don't know why or when I started caring for her but it happened and now all I can think of his how to get into her heart that is if she ever lets me. And that really doesn't matter because I think that I will try no matter what! I wonder from time to time if there was more to it than just lust I had after all planned to make her the mother of my children Luciola.”

 

Luciola sat there starring at his friend's bowed head he was happy that Dio had finally realized what love truly was. Not the kind that they had as friends but the kind that people are forever searching for. He truly felt proud to be Lord Dio's friend and he was happy that the caring Lord Dio that he had known all along had finally made it to the surface, he had been worried about Dio ever since he had started this obsession with Lavi and his plan for freedom but Luciola was truly happy that Dio had found another way to accomplish his ideals without such heartache.

 

Dio raised his eyes to Luciola's giving his friend a smile as if saying everything is all right now. It was then that he saw the relieved expression on Luciola's face realized that Luciola had been worried about him this whole time. He stood as did Luciola and Dio quickly walked the few steps between them and embraced Luciola once more whispering in his ear

 

“No need to worry Luciola, everything will work out in the end and we will live happily and grow old together forever staying friends.” Luciola hugged Dio tighter surprised at how much wisdom were in his words he then thought of how his friend had truly become a man in such a short time.

Hehe, I have decided that my next fanfiction will be a spirited away fiction called spirited love the pairing I plan on using are Chihiro AKA Sen with Haku, look forward to it and the great ending that I have planed for this fanfiction.
