He had to come to a decision - and being that he did not trust the soundness of his own judgment, he left it up to instinct. One young woman stood out in his mind more clearly, and he seized on that lest there be any blood spilled while he delayed. It was time.
"ALL RIGHT!" he shouted, causing the others to abandon their current speech and fixate on him. "Then I choose... Malon!"
"WHAT?!" they all shouted, shocked at this news from nowhere.
"Malon is... my one and only," he elaborated. "There. Now you can all stop fighting about it and get on with your lives. I'm sorry."
"I do NOT accept this!" Ruto blustered at once, eyes flashing dangerously as her voice took on a ghastly, threatening quality. "Link of Hyrule, YOU are the one I selected, and it is impossible that you would-"
"TOO LATE!" he shouted down at her. "You're going to have to accept it - I belong to Malon, now! Time to find yourself a new fiancee, okay?!"
Everyone fell quiet for a moment, only now absorbing the true impact of his proclaimation. Link took a deep breath, whisked off his hat momentarily and ran his hand through his hair; he could not look at Malon yet. The others were hard enough to observe, but Malon's reaction to the news was far too much for him to process. Just as he was putting the cap back on, Saria breathed, "Hmmmm..."
"FINE!" Zelda shouted suddenly, picking up the nearest heavy object (which happened to be a rock) and throwing it directly at his head; he allowed himself to be struck by it, as he hadn't the heart to dodge. "I suppose my promise means nothing to you, does it?! The vow we made?! M-my feelings?!"
"Preposterous, all!" Ruto ecohed. "I, a Princess, am to accept losing my betrothed to this common... COW?!"
"She's NOT a cow!" Saria growled furiously, stomping forward. "And better a cow than a big, fetid bowl of tuna salad!"
The sound that escaped Ruto's throat made the hairs on the back of Link's neck stand out; they were going to rip each other to shreds soon enough, so he stepped between them and barked, "ENOUGH!"
"Stay out of this, Link!" Ruto commanded. "YOU might have taken leave of your senses, but I shan't let this squishy bag of entrails besmirch MY name!"
"Link, he's insulting our- YOUR- your paramour!" When he glanced back at her, he could tell she was trying to pretend she hadn't fallen victim to the Freudian slip. "You're really going to let this brine-for-brains THING talk like that?!"
"NOBODY is going to attack each other!" he reiterated. "Like the name-calling wasn't childish enough! Now come on, everybody back off, let some-"
"Link, it's okay."
Malon was walking toward him, hands clasped over her chest, eyes shimmering. Her voice caught as she spoke again, but the smile on her face was bright as a cloudless, noonday sky. "I know you don't really think I'M the best choice for you - I mean, geez, you're a bonafide HERO and all! So, please, you can all stop hissing and spitting at each other over this, 'cause I'm- yeah, I think I'm just gonna go."
"No, Malon, that's-"
"Thanks for saying it, though." She laughed quietly. "Nobody's ever cared enough about me to LIE to make me feel better - I mean, except maybe Daddy, but if he did I never found out about it. So I'm riding out of here, and I don't want you to try to stop me, okay?"
Link took a deep breath. This was hard. What should he say? Frowning, he cast a glance back at Ruto's indignance, Zelda's dismay, and Saria's hodgepodge of emotions he didn't even care to puzzle out. But Malon was mounting Epona, and he had to say something, so he said, "Then I'm coming with you."
"What are- WHA?!"
And they were both astride the horse, Epona whinnying curiously at this sudden, sharp increase in load. A sick, boiling feeling lighting up in the pit of his stomach, Link reached around Malon's waist for the reins and jolted their ride into a gallop away from the small clearing of jealousy and hate.
"LINK!" she gapsed, turning and pressing to him as her hands rested on his shoulders, gazing open-mouthed at the faces of the other girls as they galloped away. Link refused to look for himself; it would only weaken his resolve. "What the hell do you think you're DOING?! There's a kingdom waiting for you to save it, y-you can't hang around with me all day! There's other, way more important things to be-"
"You ARE what's important!" he cried as tree limbs whipped at his face. "Malon, you need to be back on that ranch when this all goes down, and I'm going to personally make sure you're safe!"
"B-but Zelda!" she protested, drawing back to look at him, deep, dark eyes unbelieving. "Weren't you supposed to be protecting HER?! I m-mean- hey, you're still wearing her ring, you have to go back and look after the people of Hyrule!"
"I will," he whispered as he tried to navigate their way out of the forest. "Once you're safe. And I know Saria - even though this is such a mess, she'll make sure Zelda ends up back in Kokiri Village, away from stupid Gannondorf. Don't worry so much."
"Dammit! Link, it's really nice of you to say it, but I'm not so fractured and forlorn that you have to go to all these lengths! Sure, I'm not beating off guys with a stick, but to pass over all those other girls for someone who can't give you ANYTHING you need just 'cause you feel sympathy pangs?"
"But you can give me what I need! I need YOU, Malon!"
That finally made her blink. "No, you don't, I'm just- I mean, WHY?"
"Because your skin is like candy," he said into her ear as they rode along the stream. He felt her clutch tighter to him as he went on. "You are so selfless, and so loving, and bright, and... I don't know, okay? All I know is if I'm going to spend my life with somebody, I KNOW it has to be you. You... feel the best in my arms."
"Fairy boy..."
"And you taste like Lon Lon Milk - which I love." The gasp was not unexpected, but he did not stop to acknowledge it. "Yeah, I like the others - a lot, they're all my friends, but... but the one I have to be with is you. Is that okay?"
"Oh, be with me NOW!" she cried, throwing her arms more firmly around his neck as she planted a wet, sloppy kiss all over his mouth that left him blinking in surprise; her lips were like pillows, but she could put so much force behind them that he felt bowled over by pleasure. Struggling, he brought Epona to a halt. "I'm- Link, I- I'm so happy, I want all of you right now, running through my veins! Let's celebrate our love!"
"We can't," he laughed. "I need to get you back home... and then I have a villain to vanquish."
"Oh, I... oh." Her features fell, then screwed up against an onslaught of panic. "B-but NO, not now! Not when I just found the man of my rosiest daydreams, c'mon, that's not even funny!"
Link frowned, disheartened by this turn of events. "Sorry. I'll be back for you, though, okay? The minute Hyrule is safe, I'll be your own personal knight - from now until the end of time! But I can't ignore him forever, so-"
"Then right here, right now!" she urged. "Take m-my womanhood, mark me as the one for you - a-and then I'll be able to hold you to it! It won't take long, please?!"
"Sorry," he said again, prompting Epona to a trot again. "There's no time to stop and do things like that."
"Then w-we can do it-" The look in her eyes right before she squeezed him again told him she hadn't so much come up with her next suggestion as snatched at it blindly. "Um... maybe we could do it... WHILE we ride?"
"Do what? What exactly are you trying to get me to do?"
"Pluck my wildflower," she muttered, clearing her throat. "It's a pretty... unconventional idea, sure, but I just can't stand the idea of you running off to your death when we- when we never-" A quiet sob as she clutched tight to him. "Link, I've been waiting all my life for you to sweep me off my feet, even before I met you, and- come on, you can't drop me off behind the barn without something to hang onto!"
"But WHAT flower do you want me to pick?!" he asked her urgently. Suspicions were in play, but he knew nothing for certain and this was exactly the kind of assumption that leads to an untimely demise. "And how am I supposed to do it while riding?!"
"I'll handle it," she said hurriedly, turning around to face forward again and hiking up her dress slightly. "You make sure Epona doesn't bolt the wrong way, and I'll make sure you- make sure y-you don't forget me!"
His eyes shot open - was she serious? It killed him to realize Malon thought so low of him that she expected their memories together to fade the moment she was out of sight. Then again, it wasn't as if she had no evidence to support that theory; he'd already touched two other women since, even if she was present for one of those occasions. The poor farmgirl had every right to be worried, because he'd never given her reason to feel secure in the relationship.
And when he felt the smooth skin of her backside rubbing against his gourd-stalk, he no longer felt secure in the saddle. "WHOA!"
"Shh!" she whispered, leaning further forward and scooting back into him. "Don't spook her, she might throw us off!"
"What the hell are you DOING?!" he shouted, trying to force his adam's apple to swallow. Malon didn't reply - she merely leaned into Epona's mane, slipping her arms up and around the thick, strong neck as they thundered through the outskirts of the forest. If Epona was aware of what her master was plotting, the horse did not betray it outwardly. Link found himself looking to either side frantically, sure someone would be watching, someone would cry out that this was not acceptable behavior while on horseback! Alas, no one spoke up, no one stopped her, so all Link could do was try not to steer them into a tree and stay upright in the saddle.
Though it hadn't actually been that long since their bodies had been connected in exactly this way, the fullness and warmth of her behind continued to fascinate him. True, his experience in such matters was severely limited, but compared to Malon, Saria and Ruto had no padding at all. Her frame was so slight, her features so innocent, but everywhere she touched him he felt strength and maturity. Less than a minute passed in the time it took for this to bring his stalk to full height.
"THERE you are," she said happily. "Oh, I can feel it, now, I feel you! Careful you don't, um, end up herding the sheep into the wrong corral again!"
"Your... 'wildflower'," he breathed in disbelief. "You want me to take your virginity?! Now, while we're riding through the forest?!"
"Well, you wouldn't agree to take a break!" she shouted over her shoulder. "This is way too important to me for any kind of promises, or waiting games! I really didn't want my first time to be this way, Link, but between this and the possibility of missing out completely, I'll take it!"
The bottommost part of her dripping folds were touching his gourd, and he felt himself aching to explore this new sensation, but there were other things he had to say. "You don't have to settle for second-best anymore, Malon, you- wait! Wait all you want, your day will come, and then you can have this on YOUR terms!"
"Don't settle for second-best, huh?" she laughed heatedly into Epona's mane. "Well, second-best to me is putting off the biggest event in my life even a DAY longer! Link, I want to give myself to you right now, and I'm hoping you love me enough to take me!" A slight pause; Link felt her legs wrapping around his as she slid over his length. "But you g- you gotta know that I love you, so... if YOU want to wait a while, I'll be okay with that. J-just- just don't hold out on me 'cause you think it's best for ME, got it?!"
It was getting harder and harder to resist. Link had scarcely even explored the insides of her peach with his tongue, but he knew they felt as wondrous to his gourd as they had to his mouth. "Malon... I'm going to ask you one last-"
"I'm positive," she guessed correctly. "You're my knight, fairy boy. You're Link. I love you."
The vibrations of the horse's footfalls against his pods, the slickness he'd gained from her lower lips against his gourd... they had filled him with so much desire that he couldn't resist any longer. Knowing deep in his heart that what they were doing was so very wrong, that they should neither rush it nor do it publicly atop a horse, he adjusted himself in the stirrups the tiniest fraction of an inch and found himself deep inside her.
"WHOOOOOOOOOOAAAIIIYAHH!" she screamed, head tilting back to whip hair into his face for a moment; the loss in visibility combined with the overwhelming sensation of her inner walls pressing all around his stalk almost caused him to jerk their ride over a steep embankment, but he recovered in the nick of time. "LINK! Link, y-yah, it hurts s-so mAAAAIIIAHH, y- OOOoooh!"
It was an impossible dream. From all outward eyes, he supposed it might simply look as if they were both riding horseback, and Malon had grown tired and laid down; her dress billowed around both of their legs. Panting now, he scooted yet further forward in his seat to better push into her, causing her to buck violently into him and moan into the twilight. He ached to explore more of her, yearned desperately to clutch at her bosom from the back again and cause her yet more pleasure, but he could not do much more lest they veer off-course and become injured. He contented himself with allowing his hands, still clutching the reins, to press slightly into the sides of her udders.
"MMmmh!" she rang out, arching her own back to press her stomach against Epona's. "Link, you're hurting- but it's a good- Link, I- LINK!!!"
"Yeah," he grunted, wishing he wasn't pounding at her so mercilessly but unable to hold back due to the gallop Epona had broken into. "Yes, Malon, it- it's beautiful, I've never felt ANYTHING like this before!"
"You are SO BIG! So, so, SO, SOOOO BIG, it's so big! All inside me, I- YAAAAIIIIIIIHHH!!"
"MALON!" A moment passed in grunts and swearing, and Link vaguely noticed they had broken free of the trees and reached the openness of the plains; they would be there soon. "Malon, I- I'm not sure I can- not in time, with the-"
"BEAT ME!"
His eyes flew open. "What?!"
"B-beat me," she repeated. "Please, hurt me, I- this is too much love, I need a balance, I- Link, I'm begging you, twist my arm around my back, make me suffer so- so I d-"
"NO!" he shouted. "I'm not going to do anything like that, not anymore! You're just gonna have to learn how to survive without the pain!"
Her moans all but overshadowed her words, but he managed to catch them. "I CAN'T, I NEED IT! Y-you can whip me, bite me, yank out my hair, or pull on my udders again, o-or- hey, you could scratch me all over! Scratches make my skin burn white-hot for a second, that's good for a start!"
"Malon, no, stop it! I don't w-"
"Shove the pommel of your sword into me!" she screamed frantically. "Or if y-you tell me to, I'll put the pommel of the saddle in, there's so much you can do to me! Don't be afraid - use your imagination!"
"Damn it, NO! Stop being stupid, I can't hear this! You're-"
"Link... what's... Link?!"
Epona slowly came to a standstill on a slight rise, stopping inches from a patch of daisies. His stalk, despite mad desire and constant assault from the horse, had begun to soften, causing her to literally flip around to stare at him in disbelief. After a few seconds, Malon's hand raised to Link's face as she whispered shakily, "Wh... why are you crying?"
"I'm NOT," he barked uselessly as the tears continued to mock him by rolling along his cheeks. "But if I were, it'd probably be because I can't STAND hearing you talk like that!"
"No... no, no, NO, d-don't cry!" Her own voice was shocked and panicked by this serious turn. "Link, I w-want to make you happy, you can't cry, PLEASE! I'm nothing but a girl from the ranch! Don't let me hurt you like this, don't let m-me shake you!"
"If that's how you feel, then don't ask ME to hurt YOU!" he yelled right into her face, causing her to flinch and pull back. "If there was one thing you could ask me to do that would guarantee I'd feel nothing but misery, it's that! And frankly, I don't care if you get pleasure out of it, because the thought alone of scratching you all over makes me- m-makes-"
"SHHH!" she soothed frantically, running her hands all over his face. "No, Link, no! You can't let me r-ruin- NO!"
"B-but y- y-"
"Nobody's gonna hurt me! I'm fine, really, I- no, I'm f-"
"Malon, they'd better not, because you just became the most important person in Hyrule to me, got it?!"
And she was kissing him so deeply he thought she was trying to find something she'd lost in his stomach. It was still rushed and feverish, but this kiss held so many more emotions, was so full of life and free of encumberance that he gave himself over to it fully, drawing from the well of her soul as his arms held her close. After nearly a minute passed like this, she drew back and squeaked, "I'm sorry, okay?! Link, I didn't mean for you to f-feel- I only wanted to- man, I messed up so bad!"
"It's okay," he replied, having hopefully derailed such a dangerous train of thought. "But... I mean, this is the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with, y'know?"
"But I'm fine, it's okay! I still would have been, even if you'd put the hilt of-"
"Do you know what it's like to hear someone threatening the woman you love with sadistic desires to injure her, knowing that whether or not you stop them she's STILL going to be in some kind of pain? I, I didn't know how I was-"
"Shh," she cooed. "Nobody's gonna hurt me anymore. Not even me. I... do you really want to protect me that much? I'm... that important to you?"
"What do YOU think?!" he half-yelled.
"Link!" Now she was bawling into his tunic, squeezing him so hard he felt a rib threaten to crack. "Nobody- no- I'm- you have- I'm so, SO lucky, and I don't know how to feel, or what t-to-!"
"Malon-"
"Be inside me!" she begged desperately, hand reaching down to tug at his half-limp stalk. "It was so good, so pure, I- and I promise I won't ever ask you to hurt me again, because..."
He waited, but she only continued to toy with him, so he finally said, "Because why?"
"Because... I don't need that anymore," she said slowly, smiling blearily up at him. "To you, I'm so important you would rather take away my pleasure than risk hurting me! That's... I think, or hope, but I'm pretty sure it's more than enough to keep me from wanting punishment ever again. I don't understand it, but I feel lucky - so lucky to be yours! Anyway..."
The full-bodied color in her sun-freckled cheeks, the affirmation of their love nearing and her promise to seek no more torture, all served to re-light the fires of his passion; her nimble, work-roughened fingers quickly brought his stalk back to its full height. It was odd, because he still felt like sobbing into her hair and holding her head to his chest for the rest of the night.
"Heal me," she begged, backing into him again. "Sh- show me how love erases pain, show me how... I know I sound like a whore again, and m-maybe I am, but-"
"No, you're not," he said defiantly, adjusting himself to resume their halted love-making. As he did so, he saw the shining red streaks on his stalk and the saddle and cried, "WH-WHAT IS- WHAT THE HELL?!"
"AAACK!" she cried when she spotted it. "BLOOD! Am I... is my period here?! No, wait, there's- that's way too much blood f-for-"
"Maybe I should get you to a medic," he yelped, turning the horse on the spot. "There's p-probably one in- in Hyrule Town, b-but I don't know-"
"Relax," she sighed, craning around to stroke his face. "I'm... pretty sure it's just menstrual blood... yeah..."
"What kind of blood?!" he cried, far from reassured.
"Oh... oh, nevermind," she said brightly, perhaps realizing he was ignorant of what she was trying to convey. "It only means I'm not injured, okay? This blood is natural, there won't be any more. I'm okay."
His eyes narrowed, wondering whether or not she was telling the truth, but she really didn't seem any worse for wear. "If you say so."
"Crash into me," she asked yet again, rubbing the lips of her peach against his gourd faster and with greater pressure. "Then we'll ride back to the ranch, and you can forget about me once you know I'm safe and-" She took a deep, calming breath, probably to stop herself from crying again. "And then you can do what you have to do."
"Malon..."
"NOW, Link - please!"
As they galloped away toward her homestead, he slid right under and into her, prompting yet another ear-splitting scream from her throat. Now she was pressing right back into him, and he could breathe hot on her neck, feel both their hearts beating as one. The bulbous, enticing surface of her behind pressed against his lower stomach and inner legs as he pounded her, finding his way deeper and deeper in. Then, a moment before he tried to rub against her mounds with his hands again, she uttered, "Bite me!"
"What?! NO, Malon, I TOLD you I won't-"
"It's not like it sounds!" she pleaded. "Just little bites on my neck, I- c'mon, I mean it, I only want it to feel g-good, okay?! All that sensation in my- in my peach, it's too much to take, I need to feel something s-somewhere else!"
Considering for a brief moment, he did as she asked; drawing aside her long, flowing locks, his lips enclosed on her slender neck, revelling in the salty flavor. Then, briefly, he pressed his teeth into the thick muscle between neck and shoulder.
"OOoohhnnh!" she moaned, bucking from the sudden assault. "You are a GOD! You f-feel so- all over me! Devour me whole, Link!"
"MMMhhh!" Though he had been dreading it, the simple bite he'd left on her skin had quite excited him; the notion of inflicting permanent harm was deplorable, but unlike the way she had seemed maligned and victimized when he pulled too hard on her peaks, she only seemeed to be enjoying herself a tad more, which reflected within himself. He told her so. "Malon, you are... delicious! All over, every part of you!"
"YAIIIGH!" she yelped as he bit into her again. "Link, I- I'm going t-to gal- gallop- all my cream, I'm churning, it's-"
"Whaahh?" That information alone caused a swelling within his pods. "No way! Already?!"
"Epona," she elaborated madly. "The running, saddle th- thudding into m-my clitAAIII!" The way she squirmed around him, trying not to give in to the rushing end, only brought him closer to his own. "And you being so big and h-hard, and- and AIIIYAAH, GOD!!"
"HmmmAH!" he gusted as he withdrew from her neck again. All of his feelings were rippling toward his stomach again. "Malon, do it! Give me your best moment - let yourself come undone!"
"But I- but I can't, WE can't, I- so soon, it- YNNNHHH!"
Somehow, though Link had been trying to adjust his foot in the stirrup, he managed to work himself into a new position by which he could thrust almost half an inch deeper inside than before. Malon seemed to appreciate this, and let him know by way of screams and writhings that almost threw them to the ground. The relentless pace at which he was now pounding her caused the slapping noise of her backside reaching its downswing against him began to compete with Epona's hooves. Slowly, lovingly, he ran his hands under her dress and along the front of her abdomen, still holding the reins as he came to her hefty peaks. "You can do it whenever you want - all I want is for you to be happy."
"But I shouldn't BE happy!" she screamed, even as she intentionally raised herself off the saddle to slam back down onto him harder. "I'm a h-horrible, evil bitch, a farm slut with no brains or talent, I- you really SHOULD be beating me into a pulp for making a hero like y-you-"
"You didn't make me do ANYTHING!" he reassured her. "Nothing but care about you... because I couldn't imagine my life without you in it! I know who you are, Malon, and y-you're nowhere NEAR evil! Forget about what that creep Lando tried to make you believe, okay?! You're the purest, most good-hearted person I know, and I love you!"
"You WHAT?!" she gasped, spinning to face him - this only sent a fresh, altogether different surge of pleasure through his stalk. Her large, mesmerizing eyes were open to their fullest extent, fresh tear streaks forming by the older ones. "You- no, don't do this again, don't say that just because you feel sorry for- you have to say it again, but ONLY if you REALLY mean it, not just as a friend!"
"I love you," he said evenly, without even a moment's hesitation. "And I can't imagine how anybody could NOT love you!"
"Fairy boy!"
A fresh scream of pure, unadulterated happiness erupted from her, and she turned again as he tapped his heels against Epona's flank and sent them racing over the grass. Her back arched as she half-laughed, half-moaned into the skies. Link's fingers were still pressing the leather straps into her ample chest as he returned his attention to tunneling deep inside of her, now only kissing behind her ear instead of biting. Electricity flowed down his chest and stomach, sweat down both their temples, and he knew it would all end soon.
"Malon!"
"YES!" she screamed. "I feel you - I f-feel it's time! Give everything to me!"
"Are you sure? Inside, just like-"
"EVERYTHING! I want you in me, want whatever you made for me! Whatever our love made!"
"Malon, I- MALON!"
"YAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH!!!"
From that point, every time Epona's hooves fell to earth, a fresh burst of white-hot fluid was loosed into Malon's inner walls, coating her and preventing him from pulling out to spare her undue punishment. That's not to say they didn't enjoy it; on the contrary, Link was astonished at the feeling of having stretched her out and unloaded into her, feeling bare patches of her legs twitch against his, her chest heaving beneath his hands. Malon's viewpoint was obviously favorable, also, as she continued to cry his name aloud, her own hands resting atop his, clutching tight as if afraid he would suddenly let go. Finally, almost purely by instinct, he brought the steed to a standstill as they caught their breaths, the hardened muscles beneath his pods the slightest bit saddlesore.
"Link," she whispered once more, craning her neck around to catch his lips with her own. She succeeded, and they shared a kiss without the weight of worries or regrets. When this broke, she said, "I love you! And I'm sorry I... didn't say it before we... we galloped away, b-but I d-"
"I love you, too," he headed her off. "Wow, I... man!"
"I know!" She giggled weakly, leaning back into him. "That was... something else! Link, you are so huge, I- I wasn't sure I could fit the whole thing in there!"
"Of course you could. We were made to fit together like that... we had to be, if I was going to be your knight."
"You are my knight." Her face was transported. "When I offered to let you hurt me, begged you, I thought it was what I needed to make you stay, but you... gosh, all along, you wanted to keep me, anyway. Only a true prince and gentleman would turn that down out of love and show a girl like me a better way."
Link laughed nervously. "Well, I wouldn't know about that, but I do know I've got NO desire to see you suffer, so the hell with all that torture."
"But y'know," she whispered as he prodded Epona into another trot, "it... wouldn't kill me if you tug on my udders a little. Not like last time- and hey, I liked how you played with them!"
"Me too," he confessed. "But I think I like squeezing them more than pulling on them; they're so soft, and trying to rip them off doesn't make any sense. Maybe if I used my tongue on them..."
Malon gasped aloud. "LINK!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sun was setting over the gentle hills of the Hyrule plains as Link took Malon's hands in his and lowered her from Epona's back. Navi fluttered nearby, remarkably having managed to keep a civil tongue and not interrupt them all this time. Malon's hair rustled faintly on the breeze as she stared up into his features, final golden-red rays hilighting her pleasing features, which showed nothing but deep satisfaction and the pangs of potential loss.
"So I guess this is... y'know."
"Yeah."
She smiled wider. "You don't have to come back for me - I mean, after. You could be with Zelda, or one of those other girls and I... I think I'd be okay with that."
"But it's YOU I want!"
"Maybe." She dropped her gaze, scuffing at the dirt with the toe of her boot. "Sure, if you really do come back for me, I'll be- hell, I'll probably explode! Just saying... if you don't, I won't feel any regrets. It's enough that I got you for today."
Unable to hold back - unwilling - he plunged his face into hers and sucked her bottom lip into his mouth; she started, then returned his advance, hands coming up to cup his head and draw him closer. When they released, his hands fell to her waist, and hers to his shoulders. "I'll see you again. Soon, if I have my way."
"I know." She caressed his face, then stepped back. "Luck be with you, my knight."
"Don't work too hard."
A snort. "Not a chance... but thanks. Take care of Epona."
"Oh, I'm sure she'll find her way back," he said with a grin. The temptation to return for another kiss was strong, but his need to defeat Gannondorf before his evil reign could spread stronger, so he forced himself to return to the saddle. "I hate to leave..."
"You're not," she told him softly, clutching at her chest. "You'll be right here, okay? What we did... we exchanged part of ourselves. You're going to be inside me always! So..."
"Then I'll bring the rest of me back to you."
Her freckles glowed, and she looked away. "Told you when you tasted my nectar I wouldn't be able to let you go."
"Yeah... you did. No regrets. See you soon."
Then, as he turned the horse around, she gasped, "Link?!"
His eyebrows raised.
"I love you."
Even though he felt the same, he couldn't bring himself to respond. Instead, he only smiled down at the whirlwind of hair framing the heart-shaped, enchanting face of the girl who had won him over with ease. Though he could sense her waving behind him as he rode off toward Hyrule Castle, he knew turning to look would only stop him from leaving. Things had to be done, villains taken care of.
And then, and only then, would he be able to whisk Malon away from that ranch and begin their lives as a family. For that, he'd gladly wait a thousand years.
He had to come to a decision - and being that he did not trust the soundness of his own judgment, he left it up to instinct. One young woman stood out in his mind more clearly, and he seized on that lest there be any blood spilled while he delayed. It was time.
"ALL RIGHT!" he shouted, causing the others to abandon their current speech and fixate on him. "Then I choose... Malon!"
"WHAT?!" they all shouted, shocked at this news from nowhere.
"Malon is... my one and only," he elaborated. "There. Now you can all stop fighting about it and get on with your lives. I'm sorry."
"I do NOT accept this!" Ruto blustered at once, eyes flashing dangerously as her voice took on a ghastly, threatening quality. "Link of Hyrule, YOU are the one I selected, and it is impossible that you would-"
"TOO LATE!" he shouted down at her. "You're going to have to accept it - I belong to Malon, now! Time to find yourself a new fiancee, okay?!"
Everyone fell quiet for a moment, only now absorbing the true impact of his proclaimation. Link took a deep breath, whisked off his hat momentarily and ran his hand through his hair; he could not look at Malon yet. The others were hard enough to observe, but Malon's reaction to the news was far too much for him to process. Just as he was putting the cap back on, Saria breathed, "Hmmmm..."
"FINE!" Zelda shouted suddenly, picking up the nearest heavy object (which happened to be a rock) and throwing it directly at his head; he allowed himself to be struck by it, as he hadn't the heart to dodge. "I suppose my promise means nothing to you, does it?! The vow we made?! M-my feelings?!"
"Preposterous, all!" Ruto ecohed. "I, a Princess, am to accept losing my betrothed to this common... COW?!"
"She's NOT a cow!" Saria growled furiously, stomping forward. "And better a cow than a big, fetid bowl of tuna salad!"
The sound that escaped Ruto's throat made the hairs on the back of Link's neck stand out; they were going to rip each other to shreds soon enough, so he stepped between them and barked, "ENOUGH!"
"Stay out of this, Link!" Ruto commanded. "YOU might have taken leave of your senses, but I shan't let this squishy bag of entrails besmirch MY name!"
"Link, he's insulting our- YOUR- your paramour!" When he glanced back at her, he could tell she was trying to pretend she hadn't fallen victim to the Freudian slip. "You're really going to let this brine-for-brains THING talk like that?!"
"NOBODY is going to attack each other!" he reiterated. "Like the name-calling wasn't childish enough! Now come on, everybody back off, let some-"
"Link, it's okay."
Malon was walking toward him, hands clasped over her chest, eyes shimmering. Her voice caught as she spoke again, but the smile on her face was bright as a cloudless, noonday sky. "I know you don't really think I'M the best choice for you - I mean, geez, you're a bonafide HERO and all! So, please, you can all stop hissing and spitting at each other over this, 'cause I'm- yeah, I think I'm just gonna go."
"No, Malon, that's-"
"Thanks for saying it, though." She laughed quietly. "Nobody's ever cared enough about me to LIE to make me feel better - I mean, except maybe Daddy, but if he did I never found out about it. So I'm riding out of here, and I don't want you to try to stop me, okay?"
Link took a deep breath. This was hard. What should he say? Frowning, he cast a glance back at Ruto's indignance, Zelda's dismay, and Saria's hodgepodge of emotions he didn't even care to puzzle out. But Malon was mounting Epona, and he had to say something, so he said, "Then I'm coming with you."
"What are- WHA?!"
And they were both astride the horse, Epona whinnying curiously at this sudden, sharp increase in load. A sick, boiling feeling lighting up in the pit of his stomach, Link reached around Malon's waist for the reins and jolted their ride into a gallop away from the small clearing of jealousy and hate.
"LINK!" she gapsed, turning and pressing to him as her hands rested on his shoulders, gazing open-mouthed at the faces of the other girls as they galloped away. Link refused to look for himself; it would only weaken his resolve. "What the hell do you think you're DOING?! There's a kingdom waiting for you to save it, y-you can't hang around with me all day! There's other, way more important things to be-"
"You ARE what's important!" he cried as tree limbs whipped at his face. "Malon, you need to be back on that ranch when this all goes down, and I'm going to personally make sure you're safe!"
"B-but Zelda!" she protested, drawing back to look at him, deep, dark eyes unbelieving. "Weren't you supposed to be protecting HER?! I m-mean- hey, you're still wearing her ring, you have to go back and look after the people of Hyrule!"
"I will," he whispered as he tried to navigate their way out of the forest. "Once you're safe. And I know Saria - even though this is such a mess, she'll make sure Zelda ends up back in Kokiri Village, away from stupid Gannondorf. Don't worry so much."
"Dammit! Link, it's really nice of you to say it, but I'm not so fractured and forlorn that you have to go to all these lengths! Sure, I'm not beating off guys with a stick, but to pass over all those other girls for someone who can't give you ANYTHING you need just 'cause you feel sympathy pangs?"
"But you can give me what I need! I need YOU, Malon!"
That finally made her blink. "No, you don't, I'm just- I mean, WHY?"
"Because your skin is like candy," he said into her ear as they rode along the stream. He felt her clutch tighter to him as he went on. "You are so selfless, and so loving, and bright, and... I don't know, okay? All I know is if I'm going to spend my life with somebody, I KNOW it has to be you. You... feel the best in my arms."
"Fairy boy..."
"And you taste like Lon Lon Milk - which I love." The gasp was not unexpected, but he did not stop to acknowledge it. "Yeah, I like the others - a lot, they're all my friends, but... but the one I have to be with is you. Is that okay?"
"Oh, be with me NOW!" she cried, throwing her arms more firmly around his neck as she planted a wet, sloppy kiss all over his mouth that left him blinking in surprise; her lips were like pillows, but she could put so much force behind them that he felt bowled over by pleasure. Struggling, he brought Epona to a halt. "I'm- Link, I- I'm so happy, I want all of you right now, running through my veins! Let's celebrate our love!"
"We can't," he laughed. "I need to get you back home... and then I have a villain to vanquish."
"Oh, I... oh." Her features fell, then screwed up against an onslaught of panic. "B-but NO, not now! Not when I just found the man of my rosiest daydreams, c'mon, that's not even funny!"
Link frowned, disheartened by this turn of events. "Sorry. I'll be back for you, though, okay? The minute Hyrule is safe, I'll be your own personal knight - from now until the end of time! But I can't ignore him forever, so-"
"Then right here, right now!" she urged. "Take m-my womanhood, mark me as the one for you - a-and then I'll be able to hold you to it! It won't take long, please?!"
"Sorry," he said again, prompting Epona to a trot again. "There's no time to stop and do things like that."
"Then w-we can do it-" The look in her eyes right before she squeezed him again told him she hadn't so much come up with her next suggestion as snatched at it blindly. "Um... maybe we could do it... WHILE we ride?"
"Do what? What exactly are you trying to get me to do?"
"Pluck my wildflower," she muttered, clearing her throat. "It's a pretty... unconventional idea, sure, but I just can't stand the idea of you running off to your death when we- when we never-" A quiet sob as she clutched tight to him. "Link, I've been waiting all my life for you to sweep me off my feet, even before I met you, and- come on, you can't drop me off behind the barn without something to hang onto!"
"But WHAT flower do you want me to pick?!" he asked her urgently. Suspicions were in play, but he knew nothing for certain and this was exactly the kind of assumption that leads to an untimely demise. "And how am I supposed to do it while riding?!"
"I'll handle it," she said hurriedly, turning around to face forward again and hiking up her dress slightly. "You make sure Epona doesn't bolt the wrong way, and I'll make sure you- make sure y-you don't forget me!"
His eyes shot open - was she serious? It killed him to realize Malon thought so low of him that she expected their memories together to fade the moment she was out of sight. Then again, it wasn't as if she had no evidence to support that theory; he'd already touched two other women since, even if she was present for one of those occasions. The poor farmgirl had every right to be worried, because he'd never given her reason to feel secure in the relationship.
And when he felt the smooth skin of her backside rubbing against his gourd-stalk, he no longer felt secure in the saddle. "WHOA!"
"Shh!" she whispered, leaning further forward and scooting back into him. "Don't spook her, she might throw us off!"
"What the hell are you DOING?!" he shouted, trying to force his adam's apple to swallow. Malon didn't reply - she merely leaned into Epona's mane, slipping her arms up and around the thick, strong neck as they thundered through the outskirts of the forest. If Epona was aware of what her master was plotting, the horse did not betray it outwardly. Link found himself looking to either side frantically, sure someone would be watching, someone would cry out that this was not acceptable behavior while on horseback! Alas, no one spoke up, no one stopped her, so all Link could do was try not to steer them into a tree and stay upright in the saddle.
Though it hadn't actually been that long since their bodies had been connected in exactly this way, the fullness and warmth of her behind continued to fascinate him. True, his experience in such matters was severely limited, but compared to Malon, Saria and Ruto had no padding at all. Her frame was so slight, her features so innocent, but everywhere she touched him he felt strength and maturity. Less than a minute passed in the time it took for this to bring his stalk to full height.
"THERE you are," she said happily. "Oh, I can feel it, now, I feel you! Careful you don't, um, end up herding the sheep into the wrong corral again!"
"Your... 'wildflower'," he breathed in disbelief. "You want me to take your virginity?! Now, while we're riding through the forest?!"
"Well, you wouldn't agree to take a break!" she shouted over her shoulder. "This is way too important to me for any kind of promises, or waiting games! I really didn't want my first time to be this way, Link, but between this and the possibility of missing out completely, I'll take it!"
The bottommost part of her dripping folds were touching his gourd, and he felt himself aching to explore this new sensation, but there were other things he had to say. "You don't have to settle for second-best anymore, Malon, you- wait! Wait all you want, your day will come, and then you can have this on YOUR terms!"
"Don't settle for second-best, huh?" she laughed heatedly into Epona's mane. "Well, second-best to me is putting off the biggest event in my life even a DAY longer! Link, I want to give myself to you right now, and I'm hoping you love me enough to take me!" A slight pause; Link felt her legs wrapping around his as she slid over his length. "But you g- you gotta know that I love you, so... if YOU want to wait a while, I'll be okay with that. J-just- just don't hold out on me 'cause you think it's best for ME, got it?!"
It was getting harder and harder to resist. Link had scarcely even explored the insides of her peach with his tongue, but he knew they felt as wondrous to his gourd as they had to his mouth. "Malon... I'm going to ask you one last-"
"I'm positive," she guessed correctly. "You're my knight, fairy boy. You're Link. I love you."
The vibrations of the horse's footfalls against his pods, the slickness he'd gained from her lower lips against his gourd... they had filled him with so much desire that he couldn't resist any longer. Knowing deep in his heart that what they were doing was so very wrong, that they should neither rush it nor do it publicly atop a horse, he adjusted himself in the stirrups the tiniest fraction of an inch and found himself deep inside her.
"WHOOOOOOOOOOAAAIIIYAHH!" she screamed, head tilting back to whip hair into his face for a moment; the loss in visibility combined with the overwhelming sensation of her inner walls pressing all around his stalk almost caused him to jerk their ride over a steep embankment, but he recovered in the nick of time. "LINK! Link, y-yah, it hurts s-so mAAAAIIIAHH, y- OOOoooh!"
It was an impossible dream. From all outward eyes, he supposed it might simply look as if they were both riding horseback, and Malon had grown tired and laid down; her dress billowed around both of their legs. Panting now, he scooted yet further forward in his seat to better push into her, causing her to buck violently into him and moan into the twilight. He ached to explore more of her, yearned desperately to clutch at her bosom from the back again and cause her yet more pleasure, but he could not do much more lest they veer off-course and become injured. He contented himself with allowing his hands, still clutching the reins, to press slightly into the sides of her udders.
"MMmmh!" she rang out, arching her own back to press her stomach against Epona's. "Link, you're hurting- but it's a good- Link, I- LINK!!!"
"Yeah," he grunted, wishing he wasn't pounding at her so mercilessly but unable to hold back due to the gallop Epona had broken into. "Yes, Malon, it- it's beautiful, I've never felt ANYTHING like this before!"
"You are SO BIG! So, so, SO, SOOOO BIG, it's so big! All inside me, I- YAAAAIIIIIIIHHH!!"
"MALON!" A moment passed in grunts and swearing, and Link vaguely noticed they had broken free of the trees and reached the openness of the plains; they would be there soon. "Malon, I- I'm not sure I can- not in time, with the-"
"BEAT ME!"
His eyes flew open. "What?!"
"B-beat me," she repeated. "Please, hurt me, I- this is too much love, I need a balance, I- Link, I'm begging you, twist my arm around my back, make me suffer so- so I d-"
"NO!" he shouted. "I'm not going to do anything like that, not anymore! You're just gonna have to learn how to survive without the pain!"
Her moans all but overshadowed her words, but he managed to catch them. "I CAN'T, I NEED IT! Y-you can whip me, bite me, yank out my hair, or pull on my udders again, o-or- hey, you could scratch me all over! Scratches make my skin burn white-hot for a second, that's good for a start!"
"Malon, no, stop it! I don't w-"
"Shove the pommel of your sword into me!" she screamed frantically. "Or if y-you tell me to, I'll put the pommel of the saddle in, there's so much you can do to me! Don't be afraid - use your imagination!"
"Damn it, NO! Stop being stupid, I can't hear this! You're-"
"Link... what's... Link?!"
Epona slowly came to a standstill on a slight rise, stopping inches from a patch of daisies. His stalk, despite mad desire and constant assault from the horse, had begun to soften, causing her to literally flip around to stare at him in disbelief. After a few seconds, Malon's hand raised to Link's face as she whispered shakily, "Wh... why are you crying?"
"I'm NOT," he barked uselessly as the tears continued to mock him by rolling along his cheeks. "But if I were, it'd probably be because I can't STAND hearing you talk like that!"
"No... no, no, NO, d-don't cry!" Her own voice was shocked and panicked by this serious turn. "Link, I w-want to make you happy, you can't cry, PLEASE! I'm nothing but a girl from the ranch! Don't let me hurt you like this, don't let m-me shake you!"
"If that's how you feel, then don't ask ME to hurt YOU!" he yelled right into her face, causing her to flinch and pull back. "If there was one thing you could ask me to do that would guarantee I'd feel nothing but misery, it's that! And frankly, I don't care if you get pleasure out of it, because the thought alone of scratching you all over makes me- m-makes-"
"SHHH!" she soothed frantically, running her hands all over his face. "No, Link, no! You can't let me r-ruin- NO!"
"B-but y- y-"
"Nobody's gonna hurt me! I'm fine, really, I- no, I'm f-"
"Malon, they'd better not, because you just became the most important person in Hyrule to me, got it?!"
And she was kissing him so deeply he thought she was trying to find something she'd lost in his stomach. It was still rushed and feverish, but this kiss held so many more emotions, was so full of life and free of encumberance that he gave himself over to it fully, drawing from the well of her soul as his arms held her close. After nearly a minute passed like this, she drew back and squeaked, "I'm sorry, okay?! Link, I didn't mean for you to f-feel- I only wanted to- man, I messed up so bad!"
"It's okay," he replied, having hopefully derailed such a dangerous train of thought. "But... I mean, this is the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with, y'know?"
"But I'm fine, it's okay! I still would have been, even if you'd put the hilt of-"
"Do you know what it's like to hear someone threatening the woman you love with sadistic desires to injure her, knowing that whether or not you stop them she's STILL going to be in some kind of pain? I, I didn't know how I was-"
"Shh," she cooed. "Nobody's gonna hurt me anymore. Not even me. I... do you really want to protect me that much? I'm... that important to you?"
"What do YOU think?!" he half-yelled.
"Link!" Now she was bawling into his tunic, squeezing him so hard he felt a rib threaten to crack. "Nobody- no- I'm- you have- I'm so, SO lucky, and I don't know how to feel, or what t-to-!"
"Malon-"
"Be inside me!" she begged desperately, hand reaching down to tug at his half-limp stalk. "It was so good, so pure, I- and I promise I won't ever ask you to hurt me again, because..."
He waited, but she only continued to toy with him, so he finally said, "Because why?"
"Because... I don't need that anymore," she said slowly, smiling blearily up at him. "To you, I'm so important you would rather take away my pleasure than risk hurting me! That's... I think, or hope, but I'm pretty sure it's more than enough to keep me from wanting punishment ever again. I don't understand it, but I feel lucky - so lucky to be yours! Anyway..."
The full-bodied color in her sun-freckled cheeks, the affirmation of their love nearing and her promise to seek no more torture, all served to re-light the fires of his passion; her nimble, work-roughened fingers quickly brought his stalk back to its full height. It was odd, because he still felt like sobbing into her hair and holding her head to his chest for the rest of the night.
"Heal me," she begged, backing into him again. "Sh- show me how love erases pain, show me how... I know I sound like a whore again, and m-maybe I am, but-"
"No, you're not," he said defiantly, adjusting himself to resume their halted love-making. As he did so, he saw the shining red streaks on his stalk and the saddle and cried, "WH-WHAT IS- WHAT THE HELL?!"
"AAACK!" she cried when she spotted it. "BLOOD! Am I... is my period here?! No, wait, there's- that's way too much blood f-for-"
"Maybe I should get you to a medic," he yelped, turning the horse on the spot. "There's p-probably one in- in Hyrule Town, b-but I don't know-"
"Relax," she sighed, craning around to stroke his face. "I'm... pretty sure it's just menstrual blood... yeah..."
"What kind of blood?!" he cried, far from reassured.
"Oh... oh, nevermind," she said brightly, perhaps realizing he was ignorant of what she was trying to convey. "It only means I'm not injured, okay? This blood is natural, there won't be any more. I'm okay."
His eyes narrowed, wondering whether or not she was telling the truth, but she really didn't seem any worse for wear. "If you say so."
"Crash into me," she asked yet again, rubbing the lips of her peach against his gourd faster and with greater pressure. "Then we'll ride back to the ranch, and you can forget about me once you know I'm safe and-" She took a deep, calming breath, probably to stop herself from crying again. "And then you can do what you have to do."
"Malon..."
"NOW, Link - please!"
As they galloped away toward her homestead, he slid right under and into her, prompting yet another ear-splitting scream from her throat. Now she was pressing right back into him, and he could breathe hot on her neck, feel both their hearts beating as one. The bulbous, enticing surface of her behind pressed against his lower stomach and inner legs as he pounded her, finding his way deeper and deeper in. Then, a moment before he tried to rub against her mounds with his hands again, she uttered, "Bite me!"
"What?! NO, Malon, I TOLD you I won't-"
"It's not like it sounds!" she pleaded. "Just little bites on my neck, I- c'mon, I mean it, I only want it to feel g-good, okay?! All that sensation in my- in my peach, it's too much to take, I need to feel something s-somewhere else!"
Considering for a brief moment, he did as she asked; drawing aside her long, flowing locks, his lips enclosed on her slender neck, revelling in the salty flavor. Then, briefly, he pressed his teeth into the thick muscle between neck and shoulder.
"OOoohhnnh!" she moaned, bucking from the sudden assault. "You are a GOD! You f-feel so- all over me! Devour me whole, Link!"
"MMMhhh!" Though he had been dreading it, the simple bite he'd left on her skin had quite excited him; the notion of inflicting permanent harm was deplorable, but unlike the way she had seemed maligned and victimized when he pulled too hard on her peaks, she only seemeed to be enjoying herself a tad more, which reflected within himself. He told her so. "Malon, you are... delicious! All over, every part of you!"
"YAIIIGH!" she yelped as he bit into her again. "Link, I- I'm going t-to gal- gallop- all my cream, I'm churning, it's-"
"Whaahh?" That information alone caused a swelling within his pods. "No way! Already?!"
"Epona," she elaborated madly. "The running, saddle th- thudding into m-my clitAAIII!" The way she squirmed around him, trying not to give in to the rushing end, only brought him closer to his own. "And you being so big and h-hard, and- and AIIIYAAH, GOD!!"
"HmmmAH!" he gusted as he withdrew from her neck again. All of his feelings were rippling toward his stomach again. "Malon, do it! Give me your best moment - let yourself come undone!"
"But I- but I can't, WE can't, I- so soon, it- YNNNHHH!"
Somehow, though Link had been trying to adjust his foot in the stirrup, he managed to work himself into a new position by which he could thrust almost half an inch deeper inside than before. Malon seemed to appreciate this, and let him know by way of screams and writhings that almost threw them to the ground. The relentless pace at which he was now pounding her caused the slapping noise of her backside reaching its downswing against him began to compete with Epona's hooves. Slowly, lovingly, he ran his hands under her dress and along the front of her abdomen, still holding the reins as he came to her hefty peaks. "You can do it whenever you want - all I want is for you to be happy."
"But I shouldn't BE happy!" she screamed, even as she intentionally raised herself off the saddle to slam back down onto him harder. "I'm a h-horrible, evil bitch, a farm slut with no brains or talent, I- you really SHOULD be beating me into a pulp for making a hero like y-you-"
"You didn't make me do ANYTHING!" he reassured her. "Nothing but care about you... because I couldn't imagine my life without you in it! I know who you are, Malon, and y-you're nowhere NEAR evil! Forget about what that creep Lando tried to make you believe, okay?! You're the purest, most good-hearted person I know, and I love you!"
"You WHAT?!" she gasped, spinning to face him - this only sent a fresh, altogether different surge of pleasure through his stalk. Her large, mesmerizing eyes were open to their fullest extent, fresh tear streaks forming by the older ones. "You- no, don't do this again, don't say that just because you feel sorry for- you have to say it again, but ONLY if you REALLY mean it, not just as a friend!"
"I love you," he said evenly, without even a moment's hesitation. "And I can't imagine how anybody could NOT love you!"
"Fairy boy!"
A fresh scream of pure, unadulterated happiness erupted from her, and she turned again as he tapped his heels against Epona's flank and sent them racing over the grass. Her back arched as she half-laughed, half-moaned into the skies. Link's fingers were still pressing the leather straps into her ample chest as he returned his attention to tunneling deep inside of her, now only kissing behind her ear instead of biting. Electricity flowed down his chest and stomach, sweat down both their temples, and he knew it would all end soon.
"Malon!"
"YES!" she screamed. "I feel you - I f-feel it's time! Give everything to me!"
"Are you sure? Inside, just like-"
"EVERYTHING! I want you in me, want whatever you made for me! Whatever our love made!"
"Malon, I- MALON!"
"YAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH!!!"
From that point, every time Epona's hooves fell to earth, a fresh burst of white-hot fluid was loosed into Malon's inner walls, coating her and preventing him from pulling out to spare her undue punishment. That's not to say they didn't enjoy it; on the contrary, Link was astonished at the feeling of having stretched her out and unloaded into her, feeling bare patches of her legs twitch against his, her chest heaving beneath his hands. Malon's viewpoint was obviously favorable, also, as she continued to cry his name aloud, her own hands resting atop his, clutching tight as if afraid he would suddenly let go. Finally, almost purely by instinct, he brought the steed to a standstill as they caught their breaths, the hardened muscles beneath his pods the slightest bit saddlesore.
"Link," she whispered once more, craning her neck around to catch his lips with her own. She succeeded, and they shared a kiss without the weight of worries or regrets. When this broke, she said, "I love you! And I'm sorry I... didn't say it before we... we galloped away, b-but I d-"
"I love you, too," he headed her off. "Wow, I... man!"
"I know!" She giggled weakly, leaning back into him. "That was... something else! Link, you are so huge, I- I wasn't sure I could fit the whole thing in there!"
"Of course you could. We were made to fit together like that... we had to be, if I was going to be your knight."
"You are my knight." Her face was transported. "When I offered to let you hurt me, begged you, I thought it was what I needed to make you stay, but you... gosh, all along, you wanted to keep me, anyway. Only a true prince and gentleman would turn that down out of love and show a girl like me a better way."
Link laughed nervously. "Well, I wouldn't know about that, but I do know I've got NO desire to see you suffer, so the hell with all that torture."
"But y'know," she whispered as he prodded Epona into another trot, "it... wouldn't kill me if you tug on my udders a little. Not like last time- and hey, I liked how you played with them!"
"Me too," he confessed. "But I think I like squeezing them more than pulling on them; they're so soft, and trying to rip them off doesn't make any sense. Maybe if I used my tongue on them..."
Malon gasped aloud. "LINK!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sun was setting over the gentle hills of the Hyrule plains as Link took Malon's hands in his and lowered her from Epona's back. Navi fluttered nearby, remarkably having managed to keep a civil tongue and not interrupt them all this time. Malon's hair rustled faintly on the breeze as she stared up into his features, final golden-red rays hilighting her pleasing features, which showed nothing but deep satisfaction and the pangs of potential loss.
"So I guess this is... y'know."
"Yeah."
She smiled wider. "You don't have to come back for me - I mean, after. You could be with Zelda, or one of those other girls and I... I think I'd be okay with that."
"But it's YOU I want!"
"Maybe." She dropped her gaze, scuffing at the dirt with the toe of her boot. "Sure, if you really do come back for me, I'll be- hell, I'll probably explode! Just saying... if you don't, I won't feel any regrets. It's enough that I got you for today."
Unable to hold back - unwilling - he plunged his face into hers and sucked her bottom lip into his mouth; she started, then returned his advance, hands coming up to cup his head and draw him closer. When they released, his hands fell to her waist, and hers to his shoulders. "I'll see you again. Soon, if I have my way."
"I know." She caressed his face, then stepped back. "Luck be with you, my knight."
"Don't work too hard."
A snort. "Not a chance... but thanks. Take care of Epona."
"Oh, I'm sure she'll find her way back," he said with a grin. The temptation to return for another kiss was strong, but his need to defeat Gannondorf before his evil reign could spread stronger, so he forced himself to return to the saddle. "I hate to leave..."
"You're not," she told him softly, clutching at her chest. "You'll be right here, okay? What we did... we exchanged part of ourselves. You're going to be inside me always! So..."
"Then I'll bring the rest of me back to you."
Her freckles glowed, and she looked away. "Told you when you tasted my nectar I wouldn't be able to let you go."
"Yeah... you did. No regrets. See you soon."
Then, as he turned the horse around, she gasped, "Link?!"
His eyebrows raised.
"I love you."
Even though he felt the same, he couldn't bring himself to respond. Instead, he only smiled down at the whirlwind of hair framing the heart-shaped, enchanting face of the girl who had won him over with ease. Though he could sense her waving behind him as he rode off toward Hyrule Castle, he knew turning to look would only stop him from leaving. Things had to be done, villains taken care of.
And then, and only then, would he be able to whisk Malon away from that ranch and begin their lives as a family. For that, he'd gladly wait a thousand years.
