He had to come to a decision - and being that he did not trust the soundness of his own judgment, he left it up to instinct. One young woman stood out in his mind more clearly, and he seized on that lest there be any blood spilled while he delayed. It was time.

"ALL RIGHT!" he shouted, causing the others to abandon their current speech and fixate on him. "Then I choose... Ruto!"

"WHAT?!" they all shouted, shocked at this news from nowhere.

"HA!" Ruto crowed.

"Princess Ruto is... my betrothed," he elaborated. "There. Now you can all stop fighting about it and get on with your lives. I'm sorry."

"What the hell is WRONG with you?!" Saria was already shouting. The wetness in her eyes didn't make him feel much better, either. "This fucking THING?! Out of all of us, you're really going to pick sardine-breath over there?!"

"Wow," Malon breathed.

"Link, NO!" Zelda shouted, a shaking hand at her lips. "Wh- how can you DO this?! She is of another species, and- this is DEPRAVED! Perhaps you can't envision a life with me, but she's a- a FISH!"

"TOO LATE!" he shouted right back at her. "You're going to have to accept it - I belong to Ruto, now! So you're just going to have to move on and forget about me, okay?!"

Everyone fell quiet for a moment, only now absorbing the true impact of his proclaimation. Link took a deep breath, whisked off his hat momentarily and ran his hand through his hair; was he really doing the right thing? It was so hard for him to tell anymore. Link was literally in supreme agony, watching all his good friends lose respect and caring for him all at once... but the decision had been made. No going back, now.

"Well, well." He ought to have known Ruto would gloat; it was her way, after all. "Seems sharing a common genus is not enough to hold the heart of a true hero. Sorry, mammals, but 'the fish' has won."

"Great," Malon breathed, smiling blearily. "At least it's over with, I guess."

"No, wait!" Saria cried once more. "D-don't run off so fast, it's- he made the decision, there's no reason for you to take off if-"

"But there's no reason for me to stay, either," she volleyed, eyes focusing on the Kokiri as they filled with tears. "How could you do this to me? I w-wanted to giddyap on outta here before Link picked his steady, s-so I'd never have to know for sure it wasn't me! GOD, I've never- nobody has- that's just plain mean!"

"Th-that's... not what I... I didn't want you to be hurt, I j-just didn't want you to go!"

"SHUT UP!" she screamed from atop her horse. "I... Link's going to marry a... dammit, I can't TAKE this anymore! I'm going back to the ranch, where at least I know I won't get beaten out by the local wildlife!"

Saria ran forward, snatching blindly at the wake Epona left as Malon thundered out of the clearing. After a few steps, however, she knelt prostrate, sobbing uncontrollably into the moss. "No... no, I- I... why didn't she stay? Aren't I..."

"I hope you're satisfied," Zelda flung at him mercilessly. "Perhaps you aren't the hero I thought you were - I may have spoken this in anger before, but now... I truly doubt you, Link of Kokiri."

"Save it," Ruto told her, arms folded across her chest. "The newly engaged couple wishes to be alone at the moment. You should all disperse."

"FINE!" Fuming, Zelda stomped around both of them and grabbed Saria by the hand. "Come on - back to your village! I must begin my life as a people of the trees if I'm to survive Gannondorf's wrath!"

"She didn't even say goodbye," Saria was sobbing as Zelda dragged her back and through the trees. "I- and she ran off, and I wanted her to stay, b-but- what was I supposed to-"

"SHUSH!" Zelda snapped at her as they began to fade from view. He barely caught the tearful look in her eyes as she gazed back at him, stricken, before she turned and said, "Just... show me the way back again!"

Ruto stood watching them go, arms still folded in triumph. Link felt so very tired. Everyone had fled in such a quick fashion, and now he was alone with the woman he was supposed to marry. Never before had he felt this uncomfortably alone without BEING alone. Malon was scarred and disgusted, vowing never to return... and Zelda much the same, with extra kick. Saria was heartbroken, possibly beyond repair. How could he have done this to all of them?

"So... why?"

Link blinked rapidly up at her. "Huh? Sorry, what's that?"

"Why did you tell them I shall be your mate? There must be some ulterior motive."

"I... Ruto, I really don't understand what you're-"

"STOW IT, YOU BARNACLE!" she bellowed, whirling to face him, teeth bared. "Perhaps you think I have the I.Q. of aged coral, but I can tell you no more want to be with me than I want to be an employee of Lon Lon Ranch! Why have you selected your least-favored option?!"

"Because I promised," he said simply. "There are reasons I'd have picked each of you, and good ones, but... but you're the first one who asked me to be more than friends." His own arms folded now. "You really, REALLY should have explained yourself better, but... I can't turn my back on it anymore. Not after watching how hard you've been struggling to show me our engagement was no off-hand choice."

"Of COURSE it wasn't," she spat at him, anger abating slightly. "Never assume that because I made it quickly that it was a HASTY decision." Then two cold, scaly hands were pressing into his cheeks, and he tried his best not to recoil. "I had been waiting for a sign - something to lay out the path of my future, and illuminate the one who could walk it with me. At first, I didn't believe it could be you - a mammal, an outsider! But you proved your worth on so many levels almost instantly that there was no mistaking it. My love, you are the ONLY one I could be with."

"But the others..." he sighed. "Man, I just wish there'd been some better way to tell them, some- they HATE me, now!"

"Of course they do. You are a man with character far beyond any other; I would lose all respect for them if they'd been apathetic about your choice." As he stood there, hovering forlornly and wondering what to do next, he felt her hands slide around his neck and down along his chest. "You belong to me, now. And you will spend every day of your life watching me strive to keep you from regretting your decision."

"What do you mean?"

A slight chuckle; her breath was so close to his ear... "Our bond is very real, my love, but... I know your true beloved is Zelda. It is as plain as blood to a shark. Being selected by you, even above the one you wish to be with most..."

"But I do want to be with you," he told her softly. "Why are you trying to put words in my mouth?"

"To prevent you from lying."

"I'm not." Sighing again, he turned to grasp her face with both palms. "Ruto... I know we've had some terrible fights and all, but I- you just... all those things you said, the way you were willing to conquer all fears and instincts to prove to me your feelings were painfully real, I- I'm-"

"Link..."

"I do love you. My loyalties will always be with Zelda and Hyrule, of course, but you... you really won me over. I'll be your slave."

Then her lips were upon his, twin webbed hands pressing his head toward her. Her scales passed lightly along his bare legs as she breathed hotly into his ear, "B-but Link, I don't want a sl- a slave, I want you to be equal with me! I want our two halves to make a whole!"

"Well, I think your 'hole' has had enough of me for a while," he said, causing her to laugh quietly. "Sorry."

"No, no regrets." A plotting smile grew across her features. "You know, we could try that again, I'm-"

Link shook his head. "No time. Now that I know Zelda's safe - even though she's plotting my downfall as we speak - I have a job to do."

"Yes, yes, destroying some over-confident mammal. Then... allow me one simple pleasure before I go?"

A skeptical eyebrow raised. "What's that?"

"I must taste you one last time!" she said urgently, hands clutching at the neck of his tunic. "Please, I find it hard to think of anything else, I need it - need YOU! My most precious one is going off to battle for his princess - or princesses, I suppose - and I very much would like to partake of you once more before you're beyond reach!"

It was as if someone had poured ice water straight down Link's stomach. "Uhhhhhh, no thanks, I don't think-"

"But I am your fiancee," she said with a slight pout. "Indulge me?"

Grunting, Link turned away from her, arms folding over his chest. "Sorry, Ruto... I mean, if I thought it wouldn't take long, I'd agree, but there's no-"

"Link, I- I apologize, but I cannot let you run off to your doom!"

"WhaaAAAAAIIIIIIGH?!"

He'd not been expecting to fall face-first onto the ground, nor to crack his head on a stone. As the stars bounced around his head, laughing and cartwheeling, he heard a lady distantly asking, "Are you all right?"

"Nnnoooohh..."

"Why don't you watch where you're going?!" she demanded, voice mostly commanding but holding a vague hint of sympathy. "You could... could have... hmmm..."

He felt seasick. How did that work? He was on dry land. With some uncertainty, Link began to push to his hands and knees, but only the knees would cooperate. "Itzz... fazishurd... hmmnnhhgg..."

"Please, lie still," she whispered, and he felt his hands being pulled into the small of his back. "Just allow me to do this for you, and it will rinse all pain away!"

"Nah. Jjjuss... I'm gonna go, I gotta go now."

"Relax yourself for a moment," she told him softly, one hand resting on his thigh as the other held his wrists together. "We will both be happier for it."

"Sssokay, I'm good. Time to get on thhhHAAAAAAAIIIHHH!!"

Everything spasmed when the tip of Ruto's tongue flicked around the outer edges of his knothole. He'd not yet had the chance to catch his breath and demand to know why she would play such a mean joke on him when she darted in again, this time pressing on the center until it gave, welcoming her roving organ like a prodigal child. The way she writhed within his cove spread warmth and pleasure into his extremities, even as he despised her for doing it. Her other fingers began to caress his pods lightly, lips pressed hard against the entrance as she twisted and turned deeper inside him.

"Stop! P-please, I... Ruto!"

"Mmhh," she moaned, withdrawing briefly. "This is the delicacy I've been craving!"

"Y-you caAAAAAN'T!" he panted wildly as she worked her way back in, far too dazed from his fall to dodge or pull away. "Ruto, I gotta go, I'm- get out, I- NNNHHHH!"

Static electricity erupted outward from the treasure in the back of his cove as she discovered it again, and he could feel his hips ripping away from her, striving to keep her out of him, but she stayed her course. The world swam and came unbalanced as she prodded it repeatedly, and she had to redouble her grip on his hands to keep him from squirming away. What was it about that thing? The rigid little ball positively cried out with joy when she hit upon it, and he couldn't understand how that worked, but the more she did it, the less he tried to escape.

About a minute later, she pulled her tongue out and said, "This... spongy, hard, spherical thing... you really do enjoy me touching it more than anything, don't you?"

"Of course not!" Wriggling his arms, he managed to scoot one or two feet away, but she merely shifted and pinned him down harder again. "No, I- it's too weird, it can't be something we're supposed to-"

"You cannot hide anything from your fiancee," she said throatily as she pressed two fingers to the hard, taut muscle beneath his pods; he clenched automatically. "Pleasure is thick in your voice. Your stalk grows longer and straighter from my actions inside you. Do you want my tongue again?"

"No," he breathed. Had his stalk truly awakened again? He was too afraid to check.

"Betrothed, do not lie to me! Will you break my trust this early on?!"

Seconds ticked by as he stared at the moss inches from his own face. Then, hands captive and helpless in her grip, Link whispered, "Yes. I want your tongue."

"Nnnhhh," Ruto moaned into his backside. "It... excites me. Your words are like a cordial!"

No sooner had she told him this than her tongue was prying him open again, whipping to and fro like a monster of unfathomable cruelty. Unable to control his reactions any better than he could escape, he cried out for all the woods to hear as she inflamed his treasure, and he was almost sure it grew to fill more and more of his cove with each and every stroke. Though he knew he'd never be able to overcome this sensation entirely, another one assaulted him.

"NnnOOOO!" he loosed madly, jerking wildly to escape her grip. "Too much, it's too- no, no! I can't handle all that!"

"Hmmmhhh," she said hotly into his cove as she slid her fingers along his stalk. His legs felt weak as she continued to lick hungrily at his treasure, further weakening his resistance by rubbing at his gourd and pods in turn. It was barely noticable to him when she released his hands; they thudded to the forest floor, limp. Too many other things to be felt, things vastly more real and present than his arms. Suddenly, she pulled out to say, "I want to- I can explore if... to try-"

"Nnnnhhh," he moaned as she kept stroking his hardened stalk. She had broken him completely. All that remained was for her to finish him off.

And then he felt something a lot harder than her tongue sliding through his knothole, and his back stiffened. "HHHAAAAHHH?! What the HELL?!"

"You did this to me," she said softly, trying her best to mask her enjoyment of putting him through all this as the unknown moved farther in. "The sponge... what if I provoke it more directly? I think I could this way."

"MMmmMhhhh!" he told the moss when the tip of one cold, scaly finger brushed over his treasure. Link couldn't decide which appendage's caress made him feel more afraid of its effects - which caused him more of what he found himself less and less able to deny was pleasure. He did not want it, did not ask for it, and hated Ruto for every moment she ignored his plight for her own selfish desires... but the more she attacked him from within his own body, he felt his body begin to respond as if it enjoyed what his mind despised. "HHmmhhh..."

"Yes, my love!" Her satisfaction was obscene; the pure joy she syphoned from his agony blended into her proclaimations, and she made no effort to hide this. "Your cove belongs to me - you like for me to penetrate it! You NEED it! You need me to subdue you!"

"Ruto!" he moaned, sick with himself; the tone of his words no longer meshed with their meaning. "Stop, please, I don't want it anymore, I- you have to get out, I hate it!"

"Twaddle," she said as her lips wrapped around one of his pods briefly. "We need this. I must do it, and you must admit me! Both of us want this more than anything in Hyrule!"

Link could no longer respond with anything more distinct that a grunt and cries that did not sound as if they were borne from him. With every stroke along his treasure, he watched in abject horror from outside himself as he began to push back to meet her finger, simultaneously ecstatic at the way his stalk slid through her other hand as he did so. Knees slid over moss as he spread his legs slightly, and the finger somehow reached new depths; though he would never have believed it to be possible, it wouldn't be too long before he reached his end this way. Her various appendages teasing him, violating a sacred place they should not be able to reach, had generated so much enjoyment he would soon spray the forest floor with milky fluid. His shame was absolute.

"I w-want you inside me again, as well!" she told him achingly. The second finger she slid through his knothole to join the first was a surprise, but scarcely noticable with everything that was happening. "I delight in pushing further inside my Link's sweet cove, but I- but I want you in mine! I want us to be inside each other!"

"Hhhaahhh," was as much as he could manage. "Ruto..."

"LINK!" she cried; she was shifting back there, which caused her to widen his entrance unexpectedly; it made him clench around her. Things were brushing his belly, and then he was face to face with Ruto's knothole, though she had not withdrawn from his. "Push into me! Sh- share with me what I've given you!"

It was as if he'd been desperate for some way to take his revenge, and here it was. Wasting no time, he grasped her cold behind with both hands and plunged his tongue straight into her, prompting a fresh scream of outrage and resentment; now she must be forced to remember what her actions deep inside him had felt like when she was on the other end of them. However, she did not bite at the air, did not declare she would lay waste to every member of his race. Instead, the pleasure in her voice increased exponentially.

"YES! Yes, Link, yes! Rip me apart - it's so good! Widen me, force me open and take all you need! I'll steal from within you as well!"

Now her lips were around the base of his gourd as she shivered from his tongue, still brushing twin swords of enchantment inside of him. Taking a moment to swallow, he pulled out, readjusted, and plunged two of his own fingers into her at once.

"RAAAAAAEAAAAAAAAAARGH!" she growled angrily, and he now recognized the fury she'd held when first they tried this. "Too big! Too BIG, I loathe you! Filthy mammal!"

She was clutching him. Her thumb was digging into the muscle hiding beneath his pods, and the two fingers were inside his cove, stabbing right into the treasure. "Ruto," he said softly, "y... you telling me you can't get as well as you give?"

"MMmmMMMHHHH!" Her thighs and legs were flopping this way and that, alternately trying to block him out completely and coaxing him to proceed. Proceed? Wasn't two fingers enough?! "It's as if your swordfish were within my cove again, swimming in forbidden territory!"

"Yeah," he sighed with some strain as he wriggled them deeper and deeper into her. "Did you like that? When my... when I put that into you? I thought you really hated it, hated me for it."

There was a delay in her response. "I did... at first. But the fact that a part of the one I cherish most was inside my being, was a part of me for a moment... it meant more to me than anything I can remember! More, Link, more!"

"Are you cr- craAAAzy?!" he demanded as she made a scissor motion along his treasure, causing him to thrust down and stab her neck briefly with his gourd. "I can't do more, it'll hurt you, I know it!"

"MOOOORE!"

Amazed, he moved a third finger into position, and taking the briefest moment to collect himself and pray that this wasn't a grievous mistake, worked it past the other two and into her cove. Her initial scream told him he'd been stupid to expect anything else, but then she was panting yet more heatedly than before, and he felt her teeth nipping him as she left somewhat violent kisses along his backside. Was she going to return her tongue to his cove? Did he want that, or not?

"MORE!"

"WHAT?!"

"Now, Link!" she gasped wildly, and the tone of her voice told him she was beyond the point of rational thought. "I crave more of you inside me! You will kill me if you don't do this for me! Please, another, I absolutely must have another right now!"

It couldn't be physically possible for him to put a fourth into that tiny opening, could it? Should he dare even try? But she prodded his treasure threateningly, as if telling him she wouldn't ever forgive him if he didn't persevere in inflicting this particular brand of misery on his future wife.

"AAAAAIIIRRAAAAAAAAAAGH!" she howled, legs flailing against the ground. "SO BIG! S-so much, there's so much, it's all inside my cove! I can feel every one of them!"

"Ruto!"

"DEEPER!" she cried, pushing her own hips down against his arm with so much force he could feel his bones twinge. "Th-they can go deeper, they must, I w-want- OOOOAAARGH, OWWWWWW!"

"HNNNNGH!"

Now Link knew he must be hallucinating; what a nasty fall he'd taken, and right to the head! Her knothole had irised open so wide, been stretched so far beyond its means, that a slight push from her was all it had taken for her cove to devour his entire fist. How had this happened?! At that instant, two pointed fingertips had pushed so hard into his secret treasure that he almost buckled and dropped down onto her face. Knowing he was pale as a sheet now, he whispered, "R-Ruto? Come on, Ruto, are y-you- are you okay?!"

"It... hurts," she sobbed, her own hand more or less falling away from his cove and causing him to sway from the sudden absence of intruders. Why did he feel so empty, now? Nevermind; there were larger problems. As Ruto continued speaking, a quality crept into her voice that concerned him yet more; suddenly, she sounded younger, more afraid. "I thought I wanted more... but... but now I feel pain... it hurts, Link. There's too much... and it hurts, it hurts all over..."

Looking carefully, he saw a single drop of blood sliding down from the edge of her knothole and onto the moss. He'd suspected this would happen, but the very sight of it made him reel. "You stupid, stupid bitch!" he shouted, unable to stop himself. Tears welled in his eyes as he stared in disbelief at what had transpired. "Why did you do this?! I didn't want this, I told you not to, I- and now you're bleeding and I don't know what to do!"

"DON'T!" she shouted the instant he began to withdraw his hand. "Stay, st- I don't want you to leave! It hurts, b-but you're inside, and- please, please, PLEASE don't leave me!"

Unable to prevent it entirely, his fingers pushed at her inner walls and she screamed anew, simultaneously spasming against his touch and trying not to move at all. Slowly, painfully, he pushed himself up and placed his free hand against her extremely-red underbelly, just where the opening to her peach would be if she had one, and he received a shock.

"YOUR PEACH! Ruto, it- it's so WARM!"

"Hmmmhh," she whimpered unconcernedly as she focused on moving her hips to and fro, sliding all of her abdomen around the foreign object of his fist. "Mmmy..."

"What's..."

As he continued to spin inside of her, as he pressed lightly into her from the outside, he felt it give slightly. What was going on?! The scales began to feel more like gelatin, and then they were as syrup. When he drew away, he saw two thin, dark shapes hiding just beneath the pinkish surface - a line of viscous fluid stretched between her and his fingers. "What IS this?! What's happening to you?!"

"NO!" she screamed suddenly, head craning up to gape at him. "This is terrible! No, I c-can't- NOOOOO!"

And she was crying freely, even as she clenched down on his fist. If he wasn't mistaken, if he had put two and two together without losing an integer somewhere, her eggmaw was now open.

"Ruto, I- what happened? Don't cry, please don't cry, I d-didn't mean to-

"My mating cycle has been RUINED!" she bawled, hands clutching at her wide skull. "I'll never be able to conceive children! If I do not become with child now, this very moment, I... I'm afraid it will be impossible! Link, I'm infertile - I am less than a Zora, less than a woman! I AM NOTHING!!!"

It took Link nearly two minutes to work his entire fist free of her, and they were two of the most agonizing minutes of his life. With every passing moment, his worry for her safety and well-being grew, and by the time he pulled free a state of full-on panic was less than a hair's breadth away. Then, with nigh reckless abandon, he threw himself atop her body.

"Ruto, don't cry!" he half-shouted into her shoulder. "I'm here, please, don't feel like this, don't- you didn't do anything wrong, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!"

"FUCK ME!" she shouted up at him. "Give me a child, Link! You must now, or I can never be whole, and that would-"

"You don't need one!" he told her forcefully. "You're always going to be my friend, even if you really CAN'T have children because of this!"

"You MUST!" she demanded further, mashing his now semi-rigid stalk into her peach by guiding his behind in that direction. "If I cannot produce an heir to my bloodline, the royal Zora ancestry will die with me, and- and all because I rushed it! Because I pursued dark temptation!"

"NO, Ruto! You did this because you love me, because we're fiancees!"

"You were right to call me a bitch," she continued softly, head rolling away and staring off into the nearby trees. "I've done nothing but sabotage this relationship since I decided it was permissible to... to subject you to putting up with me. Now I am bleeding from a forbidden hole, and I've rendered your bride-to-be a useless pile of scales. I have become entirely worthless to everyone I love - especially you."

"DON'T SAY THAT! You KNOW I love you, Ruto!"

And just like that, she was looking at him again, dark, filmed-over eyes wide and disbelieving. "Wh... what?"

"I love you," he said, almost to himself that time. Then, all of his resolve hardening into a spear of zealous fury, he barked straight down into her face, "Princess Ruto, I love you. We're still going to belong to each other, today, tomorrow, next year. There's no reason for you to feel worthless, because you're worth your weight in Rupees to me. Hell, a hundred times your weight!"

"Don't be silly," she half-giggled, though her hands were immediately at his shoulders and neck as her eyes leaked silently. "The Hero of Time cannot wed a barren female from another species. Fooling myself all along."

"NO!"

"WWHHHHAAAAIIGH?!"

It was pure instinct that drove his gourd into her peach's eggmaw. This, however, was another experience entirely from entering her cove, for he felt himself pushing through a curtain of goo and into yet another cove on the other side. Though he had not been quite at full rigidity before, he knew his stalk was almost as straight as his sword now.

"LINK!" she screamed. "Link, y-you're inside my maw, and it is massive! You're in the holiest of holies! H-how?!"

He found it impossible to respond; all he could feel was joy. Without intending to do so, he'd declared feelings for Ruto that seemed to become true scant seconds after he said them, rather than before as he'd always figured declarations like that happened. Pushing himself up on his hands shakily, he worked his way deeper inside, wondering at the thick, slimy substance that dripped down onto his pods.

"NNNNnhh! Oh, Link, my beloved! You would impregnate me? I'm- you would even consider me a choice for the mother of your heirs?"

"Yes!" he grunted, pounding into her over and over. "I would do anything for you, BE anything for you! This is what I want most!"

His end was very close. Ruto's entire front was brilliant crimson; she might not be far behind, either. Too much time spent playing with forbidden treasures had shortened their time in the most important act of all, and though it brought Link a pang of despair, he couldn't find it in his heart to regret their actions.

"Are you- are you going to release again?" she whispered, hands running over his back as she stared up at him with watery eyes. "Will you give me your greatest gift, Hero?"

Link gathered up all the energy he had to resist the urge to finish and smiled at her. "My Princess Ruto, you ARE my greatest gift."

Before, he would have thought it impossible for any creature to arch their back that far or scream that loud. Ruto's hands clutched at his buttocks, exposing his knothole to the open air again; one finger was just barely touching its opening. This did as much for him as his words and presence had done for her, and he unloaded everything into her maw.

Nearly a minute passed with them frozen in the position of their final moment of rapture. Then, almost at the same moment, they both collapsed completely next to each other, gasping at the air.

"Zora," she choked out. "That was... you truly are my husband!"

"You mean husband-to-be."

"DAMN the 'to-be!' Perhaps we haven't gone through the ceremonies, but.. but you and I... we ARE one. Did you not feel it?"

He smiled weakly, running a hand over her currently blue-violet cheek. "Do you mean the incredibly good tingly sensation down below... or my heart and yours?"

"The second," she said, grinning. "I knew it wasn't I alone."

"Never again."

A few seconds passed as the lovers engaged in yet another passionate embrace, lips colliding and moving along each other. Then, with a pained noise, she withdrew. "Oh, no... now you must leave me."

"Yeah."

"But y..." She blinked back the sudden new tears. "But you will come back to me, won't you?"

Another grin he couldn't stave off. "The second my duties are over, I will belong to you."

"Very well, then. But that is a promise you must keep - for my heart will be waiting for its other half, and until you return... this half will miss you."

His hand moved to the back of her neck, and he stared deep into her filmed-over eyes as he whispered, "You have my word."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Link checked his belt pouches again; plenty of bombs, a boomerang... a fairy, just in case. Navi hovered overhead, scouting for him as he entered the Water Temple. There were sages to awaken.
"YOU BASTARD!!!"
He spun to find himself face-to-face with an angry expression that could only belong to one woman. "HOW COULD YOU?! While you were off galavanting with the world's enemies and living it up for SEVEN LONG YEARS, my people were being put on ice and I was left alone, with none to help the two of us survive!"
"Hello to you, too," Link managed to spit out, backing up a step. Though he hadn't been expecting himself to think along these lines, he was stunned at how much more her figure had filled out in the intervening years. Oh, if only they could play those lustful games in the forest NOW... but something else that she had said troubled him. "Ruto, what- hey, what do you mean 'two'?"
It was then he noticed the diminuitive figure stepping out from behind his fiancee. Though she looked distinctly Zora, he could see her scales held a much lighter tint, and a thick crop of brownish hair grew long enough to frame her apple cheeks.
When she noticed him eyeing this mystery guest, Princess Ruto's hands clamped down on her little shoulders and she barked, "Myself and OUR DAUGHTER, you ignoramus! Do you know what a pain it is being a single mother in a kingdom ruled by Gannondorf?!"
Link's knees promptly buckled; the Water Temple would have to wait until he regained consciousness.
THE END (AGAIN)
(Next up: an unexpected departure!)
