Today was the day she would join the rest of her soon to be classmates for the first time. Iruka-Sensei had come over once she and her new parents came home from making her adoption as their child official. He taught her everything she needed to know in a few hours because she was a quick learner. She found out that her mother was a water based chakra user while her father was a wind based chakra user. Her real mother had used fire based chakra but she didn't know what her chakra nature would be.
Taking a deep breath, Kagome tied her hair back into a low ponytail and started to get ready for her first day. Suni, her new mother, had taken her out after dinner to do shopping for her supplies and a nice outfit. It only took her 15 minutes to get ready and she looked into the mirror nervously. "Are you ready Kagome?" came her adoptive mother's voice from the door. "Y-yes, I'm coming!" the Kunoichi called out, rubbing her face and heading towards her door.
At the Academy:
Blue eyes watched in disdain as families dropped their kids off and left. He had nobody and the other kids wouldn't have anything to do with him. For the life of him, Naruto couldn't understand why and then his eyes caught sight of pink hair.
The pink hair belonged to his long time crush, Sakura Haruno; but she didn't give him the time of day, she was too interested in the silent and brooding teme named Sasuke Uchiha. A heavy sigh left Naruto's lips as he left the swing and started to head towards the Academy, a bright smile pasted on his once forlorn face.
"Ah, Sakura-chan! It is so great to see you!" he yelled obnoxiously as he reached the side of the pink haired Kunoichi. Green eyes turned to him and then rolled, "I wish I could say the same for you Naruto," she huffed in annoyance, her fist meeting his head and he cried out. "Geez Sakura, what did I do to deserve that?" he asked, frowning and rubbing his head. "Existing," she responded.
"That wasn't very nice, bubblegum," a new female voice reached his ears and he turned pained eyes to meet the blue eyes of a small girl. "What's it to you, new girl?" Sakura sneered, turning her nose up and walking away from the two.
"Are you okay?" the girl asked him, making Naruto's own blue eyes widen in shock. Was she speaking to him? "Ano, yes I'm fine! Sakura does that all the time," he said sheepishly, rubbing at his spiky blonde hair. The girl gave him a warm smile, "well that's not very nice of her, I'm Kagome," she stuck her hand out in greeting.
"The name's Naruto and I'm going to be Hokage one day!" he grinned and shook her hand, causing the girl to giggle. "Well, I hope so," she smiled, "this is embarrassing, but I'm obviously new, Iruka-sama trained me until I'm caught up to where you guys are but I still have no idea where to go, maybe I could sit with you and you could inform me about everything here?" she asked shyly with a soft, pink blush tinting her pale cheeks.
Naruto grinned, "sure, anything for my new friend!" he said and linked his arm into hers, "follow me Kagome-chan and worry no longer, Naruto is here to save the day!" he said with a goofy smile and lead her inside.
Kagome giggled, walking with her new friend to the classroom. "Good morning, Iruka-sama," she said softly once the two entered. "Kagome! Nice to see you and what did I tell you about the sama thing," Iruka wrinkled his nose, "I see you've met Naruto," the Chunin said, looking at their linked arms.
"Hai! Naruto has so kindly agreed to show me the ropes of this Academy," she said and let the blonde drag her off to a seat where a brooding, dark-haired male sat. "Naruto-kun, who is he?" she asked in his ear. Naruto turned his eyes to Sasuke and felt his heart drop, he really hoped Kagome wouldn't turn into another of those girls who only had eyes for Sasuke and had no room for him in their life.
"That's Sasuke, he doesn't talk much but yet, everyone loves him because he's the last Uchiha," Naruto shrugged. "Oh, alright," Kagome nudged Naruto a little bit, noticing that he seemed a bit down. "Are you okay, Naruto-kun?" she asked softly, making him look her in the eyes.
"Wait, you're not fawning over him?" he asked with shock. "Why would I? I don't know him and well, I'm not even sure if I'd like him, he's so…serious?" she said with a frown. Naruto grinned, "you are the first girl to NOT like him and be immediately in love with him," the boy said.
"Oh…well, no, you don't have to worry about that Naruto-kun, I would never abandon a friend because of some guy that I haven't even had contact with," she reassured him with a bright and warm smile.
The grin stayed on Naruto's face and he happily chatted with his new friend, unknowing of the obsidian eyes that watched them silently.
'So she's not a fangirl?' he spoke to himself, voice emotionless and low. He studied the blue-eyed, strange girl discreetly before turning his gaze back to the front of the room.
"Okay class, today we will be reviewing for the first 15 minutes of class and then we will do the written portion of your exams to become genin," Iruka spoke as he began to write a few things down on the board.
D'awh! How cute
I think I'm going to go with the original rookie 9 but add a team that Kagome will be set in
I will go into detail in the next chapter about what team it will be and who her team mates will be. :)
