Chapter 7
“Jeez! I bet ya he’s just interrogating her! If he hurts her, I’m gonna…..”
“Naruto, stop it! Do you really care that much about her? You’re acting like he’s going to violate your girlfriend or something.” Naruto turned to look at Sakura with a look of disgust on his face.
“Uhh! I just understand her, that’s all!”
*----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------*
“So, why didn’t you tell us?” Sasuke asked, sitting beside Kagome.
“In a way, I kinda did. Well, I only told Naruto because I figured out about his secret so I trusted him with mine.”
“So, why didn’t you tell me or Sakura?”
“I didn’t have a reason to. I don’t trust you and you didn’t need to know anyway. The only thing you need to know is your clan and how and why they were killed. Tell me, why do you spend time with me? I have told you that you will not pump me for information. Is it that you wish to fight me or do you believe me stronger than you?” Sasuke gave her a stern glare.
“I cannot say that you a stronger or weaker but, I do want to have a match between me and you.”
“Then give me one good reason why you are giving me your time.” Sasuke’s eyes furrowed as a strange feeling passed through his body that made his heart skip a beat. Kagome saw him hesitate before answering.
“Information. Since you are my teammate, I require information about you. I have met Sakura and Naruto at the academy. You are the only one I don’t know.” Kagome scowled.
“You are lying. I can see it is not the true reason. Tell me the truth.” Sasuke felt his heart beat accelerate to a maddening level.
“I’m not allowed to know about my own teammate?”
“You already know and that’s what makes you a liar. I have told you all about me when we were with Kakashi the first time. Now I want you to leave, I have much training to do.” As if ignoring her, he sat down on the couch and made himself at home. “I have very little patience with you. Go now and leave me be!”
“I think not. I would like to know what you are.”
“Apparently you are deaf in your ears. I have already told you.” Sasuke gave her a sly smile and was about to retort when Naruto burst through the door.
“Kagome!! He hasn’t hurt you, has he?” Kagome smiled.
“On the contrary, it was basically the other way around.” Naruto looked at her suspiciously. “We will talk later, Naruto. I need to go to the market and pick up a few things.” Naruto opened his mouth to protest but Kagome put up her hand and gave him a not-now-maybe-later look. He quickly understood and nodded. Naruto watched Kagome disappear around the corner then looked at Sasuke, eyes narrowing.
“What did she tell you?”
“Nothing of your concern.” He watched Sasuke head for the door. Naruto’s anger flared.
“Ahh!! Why do you have to be such an idiot?” Sasuke ignored him and turned the corner. Sakura appeared and out of breath. She watched Naruto throw a huge fit in the middle of the room and shook her head as she left.

“Alright demon, help me find a sword.” Kagome stopped in font of a shop filled with all sorts of weaponry.
Look around and see if you can find one of your choice. The demon explained.
Kagome was never too good with a sword. She’s always like bows better and found them more exhilarating. “Sword?” she questioned. Apparently she said that a little louder than intentioned because the shop keeper came straight to her.
“Yes, swords. Wonderful swords. I practice with them three hours a day my self. Did you have a particular sword in mind?” Kagome furrowed her brows and kept a serious face towards the shop keeper.
“I need a sword that will be prepared for anything, a sword that will be ready for a lifelong mission, and a sword for………exterminating.” A sudden recognition passed through his mind and instantly, he knew who this girl was. He swallowed nervously. “Do you have anything that fits into that description?” He knew what this girl would do with a sword like that; he couldn’t blame her for what she had been through.
He sighed. “Yes. I have one that fits perfectly to your liking. Follow me.” Kagome nodded and followed him behind a curtain. As she walked, she saw hundreds of swords mounted on the walls.
“There’s so many.” She said under her breath.
“If what I think you are going to protect is true, then you will need a strong and powerful sword.” He picked up a small box and opened it. “These are the daggers of the compass. What they do, you must find out for yourself.” He handed the box to her without another word, and then turned as if he were trying to find another weapon. Finally, she watched him pick up a cloth-covered sword. He immediately started to take off the cloth to reveal a sterling silver looking blade. He held it in front of her so she could examine it. Kagome found it to be flawless in every aspect from the hilt to the very tip of the sharp blade. “The Jade blade holds to its name. When in battle, the sword will transform into something magnificent and yet, so dangerous. I feel you will have great use in these weapons, Kagome.” Kagome looked up at the shop keeper in curiosity.
“I never mentioned my name to you, sir. How do you know me?”
“I was a friend of your mother once. It was wrong the way she died.” The keeper explained as he handed her the sheath. The sheath had a long sliver of jade running from the base to the tip. Kagome sheathed the sword and paid the man.
“Who are you? I demand your name in the case of my mother.”
“Forgive me, I am Koski.”
“Well, it’s nice to know that everyone in my village had been backstabbing murderers. I appreciate your mourning for my mother, Koski. I will remember the name.” Kagome said as she walked out.
‘There’s something about that man that’s so familiar. I think I’ve seen him before.’ Kagome thought as she headed towards the training grounds.
*-------------------------------------------------------- -----------------------------------------*
“Kagome! Kaaagoooommeeee!!!!” Naruto watched Kagome walk away with a sword attached to her hip. Apparently, she was in deep thought and hadn’t noticed him. Naruto groaned as he ran after her. “Hey Kagome, wait up!!” he watched her turn around and saw her expression intensify. Again, she was wearing that mask.
“Naruto, what are you doing here?” her eyes were slowly turning into a bright red.
“I was wondering if you’d talk to me now. I’d like to know what happened with…” Naruto cut off with a stunned expression.
“What?” she asked worriedly.
“You’re eyes. They’re gray! Kagome, what’s going on?”
‘Oh boy. I think I feel the tail growing in.’ Kagome groaned. “I’m changing Naruto. It’s me maturing. I think I can feel the tail growing in right now. I’ll explain when we get somewhere private.” Kagome and Naruto managed to walk out of the village and into the Konoha forest. Kagome put up her dark covering and allowed Naruto inside as she took off her mask.
“So, what’s happening?” Naruto asked, looking serious and concerned.
“The demon inside me says that I’m just maturing. The voice will go away in a few weeks and in that time I will be training with my new weapons.” Kagome flinched and pain jolted into her head.
“That’s pretty cool. Do you transform too?” Kagome smiled.
“Yeah. I guess I’ll use that technique in the chunin exams.”
“You’ll have to show me!”
“Naruto, didn’t ever transform?” Naruto took a moment to think.
“Not that I know of. The fox is just sealed inside of me, not apart of me.” Kagome’s eyes looked like liquid silver.
“Naruto, back in my village, they had a priestess there with spiritual powers. I read in one of her books that you can become a demon or a half demon with the demon that is sealed away inside you. If you wanted to become like me that is.”
“That sounds pretty cool. What’s it like being a demon?”
“It’s okay. Your senses heightening and being faster and stronger. It’s something to live with. I would think it as a privilege. Others would call it cursed. Fortunately, I choose not to listen to what others think of me. I listen to my heart. Demons aren’t dangerous because they were born like it, but because they choose to be dangerous. In a way, Naruto, you are a half demon. You are shunned away by the humans and, well, if you ever meet any other demons, they will not accept you. In some ways, demons are like humans. They won’t accept anything less than a demon. Humans won’t accept anything more than human. It goes both ways.”
“You sound so wise; it reminds me of the Hokage.”
“My mother, before she died, taught me to look at things from every point of view. She said to me that life is like a rose. It is so beautiful but no matter how beautiful, it still has a flaw in it. Like the rose, life has its thorns. You just have to watch out for them.” Kagome looked down at her sword and ran her fingers along the sterling silver blade. Suddenly, every thing around her became brighter and sharper. Her nose tingled with scents she couldn’t explain. A twig snapped and it sounded like someone screaming in her ear. She felt a sharp pain in her lower back but it quickly receded. As her head spun, her dark red tail uncurled from behind her. As if it had a mind of its own, it wrapped itself around Naruto. Slowly, she regained her sight and gasped. A wonderful feeling passed through her body. She forced her eyes open and saw Naruto stroking her tail. Kagome immediately unfurled her tail and threw it behind her.
“Did you feel that?” Kagome looked at him as if he were stupid.
“Of course I did. It’s attached to me, its apart of my body.” She took a deep breath and spoke again. “Naruto, don’t tell anyone that this is my tail. I’m going to wrap it around me and make it look like a scarf or something. It’s not funny so don’t laugh!” Naruto fell back laughing. Kagome put her mask back on and instantly tensed. “Naruto, we’re being watched.” She looked past him and saw a figure about twenty feet away from them. “Stay here.”
“But…”
“No buts. Stay here!” she forced the last part to sound harsh, and then wrapped her tail around her waist and over her left shoulder. The last thing she needed was someone who got hurt because of her. She stepped from behind the covering and faced the mystery man. The man looked familiar. He had golden amber eyes and silver hair. “State your name and purpose here!”
