Escape

It took a few minutes before the severity of Hiko's announcement hit the team. Kenshin in his usual quiet manner nodded silently and went to Hiko's hut to pack his things. Not that they were much anyway. Sano suddenly grabbed Kenshin's arm and said `You are not going anywhere without explaining to me and Kaoru what you guys were talking about'. `Yeah we deserve an explanation' added Kaoru. `Okay Sano, Hiko will explain things to you just let me go and pack'. Sano turned to Hiko and said `okay big guy start talking'. 'Ahou', Hiko muttered under his breath and started to speak. `Both of you must have seen how Kenshin mirrored Aoshi's technique in the arena and used it against him in a short time'. `Well' said Kaoru `I thought Kenshin has been a little strange lately'. I mean the guy is just 9 years old and he has always understood all those techniques you teach us perfectly in a short time'. 'Jouchan, you can't just stand the thought that anybody else is better than you'. Hiko cuffed Sano and said `you fool! can't you understand what I have been trying to say all along?You guys are 4 years older than Kenshin and he looks and fights as though he has more experience than you two put together. Kenshin has an advanced bloodline limit called the sharingan'. Sano and Kaoru gasped collectively. Hiko continued, `you both know how despised such people are in the village. But I knew this day would come even though I didn't expect it too be this soon. The clan with this ability asked me to teach one of their own the way of the sword. So that was how I took Kenshin in. `But I guess its time for him to return to Konoha'. `What is konoha?' Sano asked. Nobody answered him. `So are you taking Kenshin?' asked Kaoru. Kenshin had just finished packing and as he came outside with his knapsack, Sano started yelling at him for not saying something earlier. `Sano can't you see that Kenshin didn't want to involve us in all of this?'.'But we are a team and teammates help each other in times of need' replied Sano. `Wherever you are going, I am following you'. Kenshin countered by saying `this is not your average mission Sano. I am leaving Kirigakure for good'. `Then so am I' affirmed Sano. As Kaoru was about to say something, Hiko pulled out some shuriken from his pouch and threw it at the trees behind him. Apparently the shuriken connected and the form of Seta Soujirou the Mizukage's assistant came crashing down but not before turning into water. Hiko turned to the team and said `most of the anbu have been alerted. You have to make for the village entrance now I will keep them occupied'. Soon Kenshin and his friends were racing through every shortcut they knew would get them to the entrance. Meanwhile Hiko started performing hand seals and then shouted `Temple of Morpheus technique'. Green vapor rose from the ground around him and anyone who inhaled it feel asleep as it was very chakra intensive, cause of the large surface covered, Hiko would have to rest for some time.

By the time Kenshin and his friends got to the entrance, they met Saito with Misao and Hanya on either side of him. `Going somewhere guys?', asked Saito. `Yeah wolf eyes and it isn't any of your business' retorted Sano. `You see, we were sent here by the mizukage to delay you guys. Some one had cast a sleeping technique on the anbu and we were the only available ones left. Team10, attack!'. Misao lunged at Kaoru with a kunai in her hand while Hanya took slipped brass knuckles on his fingers. Misao started slashing wildly at Kaoru who kept blocking the slashes. Misao knowing that she wasn't good at close combat back flipped to start her ranged attacks. Kaoru chose to use the opportunity to tell her that she won't be holding back. `You think I would, after what Kenshin did to my Aoshi-sama?'. Misao with a handful of kunai in her hand she performed Sankatsu Tobikunai. Kaoru using her bokken knocked the kunai away but no sooner did she do act than heard Keicho Kick behind her and before she could turn back to shield herself she felt a force that sent her flying about 5 meters from where she was. Misao made her clone disappear and smiled down at Kaoru. Kaoru was sure she didn't see Misao do any hand seals. The clone must have been hiding somewhere. Well she was going to have to finish the match as soon as she could. Luckily for her, Misao had made it clear what her weakness was at the beginning of the match. She was going to have to use it after all a man is only as strong as his weakness, right? Misao started doing some hand seals and jumped into a nearby pool of water. The splash generated became needles homing in on Kaoru. As Kaoru waited for the needles Misao was appalled. Kaoru wasn't moving! Maybe she was paralyzed by fear. After she was done with Kaoru she would help Hanya against the rooster head. At the last second Kaoru did some hand seals, used her bokken on the ground and shouted doton: doryusen (earth release: earth dragon flash) a spray of sand went up and obscured her from view. When the dust cleared Misao was shocked at what she saw. There was her Aoshi-sama, covered in the needles she threw. Before she could realize it was all an illusion, Kaoru appeared behind her and knocked her out.

Since the battle started Hanya had the upper hand. Sano had not bothered with the taijustsu moves Hiko tried to teach him. Instead he went for street fighting which was highly irregular and erratic but due to Sano's brutish strength he had fared well. But this battle was different. Hanya was almost as strong as he was. Hanya knew his taijutsu well and used it to full effect. Hanya unlike many other nins had black and red horizontal stripes tattooed to his arms. While these were not good for camouflage it helped to confuse his opponents as to the length of his arms when he threw punches at them. Besides he had a mask on to help hide his emotions. Currently he was pummeling a badly wounded Sano on his body. With two swift kicks, he sent Sano skidding on the ground. Sano knew he had only one option left. It was to summon Byakko(white tiger) which was Hiko's summon. He could boast of a large amount of chakra as he had about the same as Hiko. It was a family thing. Sano stood up and did the seals required to summon the tiger.

The problem was that the last time he summoned it, the thing almost killed him. But he didn't have a choice. When Kaoru saw Sano doing hand seals she knew what he was about to do. Sano would need to learn control of the tiger in the shortest time possible. Taking in a deep breath, she ran with all her might at Hanya swinging her bokken wildly at him. When the tiger appeared it lunged straight at Sano. But as it came close Sano put his hand on its nose and swung himself on the tiger's back but the tiger trashed about wildly and after a few minutes asked Sano what he wanted. Sano replied that he wanted byakko to be his summon. Sano bit his thumb drawing blood. After doing that he took a nearby stone wrote his name and used his bloody fingerprints as a signature. With that done, he tossed the bloody stone to byakko. The stone disappeared in a poof meaning that byakko accepted it. Kaoru who had been keeping Hanya busy was getting tired when Sano told her to stand aside. When Hanya saw the tiger he started to get scared but he didn't show it. Sano jumped on the tiger's back commanding it to race at Hanya. As they were racing toward Hanya, Sano pressed himself on byakko and in a flash the SanoByakko duo became on large tiger in human shape. With the man-beast disappearing from view, Hanya felt himself being launched up. After a series of devastating scratch attacks in the air and being knocked back to the ground, Hanya could hardly move a muscle. Sano felt weak due to the speed of the attack as he was not used to it. Byakko told Sano that if it had been another person that attacked like that with him, they would have been in worse shape than Hanya and with that he disappeared.

Now Kenshin and Saito had been staring each other down. The bush around them was beginning to burn after such an intense ki battle. When Saito saw that his team had been defeated, he changed his tactics. With such skill they had shown and the anbu not forthcoming he would soon be at a disadvantage. After all with the ki battle he just had Kenshin, the kid had shown his ability but now it was time for the real thing. Saito went into the classic gatotsu stance and Kenshin went into the battoujutsu. Saito attacked with gatotsu ishiki, a stance directed at the chest, neck or shoulders. Kenshin countered with a well timed battoujutsu sending Saito sliding backwards. Kenshin followed up using Saitou's temporary unbalance to gain closeness trying to slash him. Saito sensing his disadvantage in time threw his sword down and making a quick set of hand seals summoned a wolf composed of water. The wolf lunged at Kenshin from Saito's back. Kenshin ducked in time to the attack, then spinning in a half circle with his sword extended he slashed at the wolf only to have it reform again. Taking advantage of Kenshin's disposition Saitou slashed at Kenshin's back leaving a deep gash. Kenshin fell to the ground from the pain. As the wolf returned to Saito's side he spoke up, `so you thought you could beat me didn't you. I, who founded the Mizoguchi Haitou Ryuu. You cannot run away from your death, scum! It's the fate of people like you and those associated with you'. With that, he spared a glance at Sano and Kaoru. ”Prepare to die scum”. He made another set of hand seals and the wolf was divided into three. Each wolf started attacking the now desperate trio. Kenshin started thinking about his team mates. They would surely be defeated at this rate and it was all on his account that they would be punished. He had lost all that he had once, he wouldn't let it happen again and with that, his eyes started glowing in an eerie amber color. Standing up in anger he did some hand seals and bellowed `futon: renkudan (Wind Release: Drilling Air Bullet)' at the charging wolf. The wolf ran staight into the jutsu and exploded. The other 2 dissappeared because they came from the destroyed wolf. Kenshin faced Saito and said ` the fight is between you and me, don't drag them into this'. Saito just smirked and took his stance. But Kenshin also did the same and started circling saito with the Ososugi de Ugoki. Saitou was annoyed. How could this scum try such a thing like using his technique? He was going to put and end to this anomaly right now and right here. By this time Kenshin felt a murderous intent that he had not felt since the time before he met Sano and Kaoru. Instead of the normal red sharingan, his was amber. Saito knew the weakness of Aoshi's technique because when the user is about to switch from defense to offense he would be left defenseless for about one second. As soon as Kenshin was about to attack, Saito slashed him in the chest only to find out it was a water clone. Saito, cursing under his breath detected another Kenshin coming at him from the corner of his eye. Using his sustained momentum from the previous slash, he spun and slashed again only to find out that it was an illusion. Before he could recompose himself, the real Kenshin appeared and attacked him from behind pumping charka into onimaru and stabbing him in the shoulders. Even though he wouldn't admit it, the amber eyes he saw would haunt him for ever. Kenshin was about to strike Saito but Kaoru noticed that Hiko's spell was wearing out and called out to Kenshin that they should leave while they still had the chance. Kenshin spared Saitou one last look before fleeing the village. By the time Kenshin and his friends got to the port in the country the anbu and the Jounin were just getting to the scene of the fight. When the Mizukage saw the how Saito and team were treated he started to wonder just what Hiko had thought these kids.

 

 

A/n: I know that Sasuke has featured yet, but I will fix that in the next chapter. This story kind of reminds me about the Haku saga.
