You spoke up. “So how are we supposed to lay low?”
“I'm glad you asked. You will not wear the usual cloaks, straw hats, or nail polish---”
“Heheheheh… Itachi-san won't be pleased with that one...” Kisame joked. You glanced at your team mate and the man standing next to him. The only thing you noticed were his eyes. They were red and fierce. It frightened you a little, so you turned away. Pein continued the session. You couldn't help but look into his eyes again. “Don't let this freak you out, one more look, name….” you told yourself. You stared into his eyes once more, and discovered they were the infamous Sharingan eyes. “Eyes of the devil” as some people claimed. You never experienced the wrath of the Sharingan first-hand, nor did you plan to. You had enough physical scars that would last for a lifetime. You whispered a `wow' into the air.
“So, with that being said: Which pair will you travel with, name?” Pein demanded. Your heart started to race. You weren't paying attention! You decided to go with your best educational guess-

“Tobi and Deidara?”

The room was dead silent. You knew you screwed up. You lowered your head trying not to make eye contact with anyone, which was very helpful, because Pein was giving you the nastiest glare you'd seen in your life. Your face heated up with embarrassment. “I-I-I mean, uh… they… could…” He gave a heavy sigh. “Name. If you weren't too busy undressing Itachi with your eyes, you would have known that we won't be traveling in any pairs…” Pein said with annoyance. Your face started burning up. Kisame laughed at you, while Itachi looked at you with disinterest. “You need to pay attention…” he said rubbing his temples. “Yeah, I'll try—I mean, I will.” You bowed your head. Beads of sweat were forming on your forehead. Tobi jumped in the conversation. “Awww, why can't we have groups? It'll be more effective if we're faced with a large amount of Konoha forces! We can all jump in, and kick their butts!! Hahahaha!!!” Tobi pumped his fists into the air. “Name-chan might be thinking clearly after all!” he added confidently. You looked up at Tobi and smiled sheepishly. “Hmm… maybe you're right….” Pein was in deep thought for a moment. “Then it's settled. Traveling in pairs is optional. And if I were you, name… I'd be wiser with my choices…” The holograms of each member disappeared one by one, leaving you and Konan alone. “Well… this is goodbye, huh?” You sighed with disappointment. “Yeah, I guess…” You looked around the lair. “Just when I was getting used to this place…” Konan laughed, and the two of you vanished within a cloud of smoke.
Everyone had their own method of traveling. Kakuzu and Hidan took a train, which was silly to you, because they're the most suspicious looking pair out of the Akatsuki, no matter how `normal' they tried to appear. Deidara and Tobi traveled by air, and Sasori used his puppet, Hiruko to get around. You had the option of walking alone, or leave with Konan, or Itachi and Kisame. “I'll leave with those two this time.” You whispered to Konan pointing. She smiled. “Be careful, name. I'll see you when you get there.” She performed a hand jutsu and turned into millions of sheets of paper, forming into butterflies. Each one fluttering to the west. You turned to Kisame and Itachi, noticing they were wearing normal attire. They were already walking away. “Hey! Wait up!” You shouted, running with your “coffin leg”. Kisame turned around. “Well, if it isn't my favorite student!” He greeted. “Oh yeah right! You didn't even teach me anything! Once this leg heals up, you'll owe me at least twenty techniques by now!” You said punching his arm jokingly. “Yeah, we'll see about that…” You, Kisame, and Itachi pursued your journey. The sun was already beginning to rise, and tints of blue filled the sky. The first few hours were silent. It felt really uncomfortable. Whenever you wanted to stop and take a break, they would keep going. You wanted to say, “Hey! I'm crippled! Let me rest!!”, but you didn't. It'd make you seem like a nuisance. You felt as if the clock was laughing in your face, as you passed through village, after village, after village. Kisame made fun of some citizens passing by a few times, and that made you laugh. “You should consider being a comedian Kisame, really.” You grinned looking up at him. He merely shook his head laughing at your comment. Itachi looked at you two for a moment, and continued walking. You gave an exhausted sigh and followed behind. He was quiet the entire time. Suddenly, Kisame slowed down, while you and Itachi walked up. You turned to see why he slowed down. He made a hand gesture telling you to walk with him. You slowed down as well. “What is it?” “You want me to train you, right?” “Yeah, why? You can't anymore?” “No, no. It's not that. There's an abandoned gym in the next town we're heading. We can start there…” He whispered. Your face lit up with excitement. “Yes!!! But wait, I don't think he'd stop for something like that… he's like a machine…” you grunted pointing at Itachi's back. “I think he will… watch.” He walked up to Itachi's side. You stared mischievously at what he was about to do.
