‘This…this can’t be…’ Sasuke thought as he looked at Shikamaru in disbelief.
He had just left the East and went to the North, only to be told that Naruto and Ino had went to the West. But when he arrived he had been informed that Sound had not only attacked the East but the West as well, and tooken a hostage. Naruto was now being held hostage in Sound by Orochimaru, who was demanding the North as his own.
Sasuke looked over to Ino who was standing next to Temari. Ino’s hair was now chopped but still in its high pony tail and she looked like she had been crying. Temari looked depressed as she looked at the Uchiha with sad eyes.
“They took him and tried to kill Shikamaru. They left after Naruto begged them to” Ino said with a sad sniffle.
Sasuke looked back at Shikamaru who sadly nodded.
“He said he wants the North in exchange for Naruto’s life. He was planning on using the South but I see you canceled that” Shikamaru said in a serious voice.
“How do we know he isn’t bluffing?” Sasuke nearly shouted.
Temari sighed and looked at Ino who had began to silently cry. Sighing, she looked at Shikamaru who nodded.
“He’s not” she said calmly as Sasuke looked at her, daring her to repeat herself.
She said nothing as she extended her hand towards Sasuke, opening it to reveal a small lock of golden hair, drenched in blood as the bottom.
“One of Orochimaru’s hench men hacked it off before leaving, we got it out of one of the puddles of his blood” Shikamaru explained.
“Blood…what happened?” Sasuke asked as he took the blond locks into his hold.
“He tried putting up a fight so they decided to play with him” Ino sobbed as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand, only to have them replaced a moment later by fresh ones. “3 scar marks…on each cheek” she continued to sob.
Sasuke stared in shock as Ino began to cry even more, turning to Temari who offered embrace and lent the blonde her shoulder to cry on.
“I’m going after them” Sasuke said as he left, not bothering to hear the cries of ‘no’ and stop’ that followed him.
“How’d it go, Sasuke-kun?” Sakura asked as Sasuke stepped out of the Nara mansion and outside.
“I’m going to Sound” at that, Sakura froze as Sasuke continued towards their carriage.
“What! You can’t go to Sound, why would you!?” she shouted while finally following the raven haired man into the carriage.
“They… just have something” Sasuke replied, looking out the window and away from Sakura’s concerned face.
Sakura decided not to argue with the raven haired man and chose to just stay silent and look down at her hands in her lap, clenching and unclenching them in silent rage that Sasuke wouldn’t open up to her.
As soon as Sasuke and Sakura arrived back at the South, both were surrounded and cooed by maids and servants who were, as claimed, worried. But Sasuke paid no attention as he pushed past them and off to his room to pack.
“Why don’t you send some troops in or something?” Sakura asked as she stood at the door of her and Sasuke’s room.
Sasuke was packing some clothes into a small bag as Sakura continued to offer ideas of who to send so he wouldn’t go.
“Sakura” Sasuke said coldly, stopping the girl in her talking as she looked at him in silent question. “This is a personal matter, me and only me can take care of this” he said while closing his bag and slinging it over his shoulders.
“Then at least take someone with you…I’ll go” she said hopefully, only the get a cold “no”.
“ Sorry, Haruno-san but I’m going with Sasuke” Sakura turned to see Kakashi, Sasuke’s guardian since he was a child.
Kakashi was a strange man. He wore a mask that covered ¾ of his face and had spiky silver hair. He wasn’t the most on time person but he was strong. He had been good friends with Sasuke’s parents so they asked him to watch over the young Uchiha, he gladly accepted.
Sakura looked worriedly at the silver haired man who simply smiled under his mask and looked at Sasuke who just looked down with a serious expression.
“Don’t worry, Sakura” Sasuke said as he looked up at the girl with a serious and determined look in his eyes.
Sakura just stood frozen as Sasuke walked past her and out the room, Kakashi following a moment later.
‘Please…be careful’ she thought before falling to her knees.
