Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ Forbidden ❯ Religious talk ( Chapter 8 )
[ P - Pre-Teen ]
“How's it coming,” shouted a cheery voice one misty morning as dead leaves crunched under the person's feet. Azarni, with a picnic basket in hand, popped her head over the pit's edge, with a smile on her face, which soon turned to one of surprise.
“Hidan, you found all your body! And you look like an even bigger hairball,” she said almost giggling. The man then narrowed her eyes at her, as he looked up.
“Why don't you live in a dark pit for 200 years, and tell me then how funny it is,” he shouted at the young lady. Rolling her eyes, she jumped down to his level, and looked up at him. He had to be a good foot or two taller than her now, but looked like the abominable snowman or something in the like. In his right arm he held one of his feet, as he used his shoulder to prop him up against the wall of earth.
“I see you're not completely done healing, though I think you're well enough to move. Your body does remember how to walk still, doesn't it?” The man's now visible face showed aggravation as she asked this. It seemed to her that he tried cutting away some of the hair with a three-bladed scythe that was laying on the ground beside him, but the dull blade didn't seem to have done the job. As she continued thinking about this, totally forgetting about the subject she just brought up, she was interrupted by Hidan's reply.
“Don't go mad on me about it, it isn't like you can put yourself back together quickly! Do you know how hard it is to sow on your own neck,” he shouted, causing the rousting birds to arise. Without thinking, the girl cupped her hand over his bearded mouth, and put a finger over her own.
“Shush, didn't you remember? I will get in trouble if anyone finds out about you and me. This is a forbidden part of the forest, and some of my clan's members check on it during different times of the week. We don't need to draw attention to ourselves, especially when I'm around you. “
Hidan rolled his eyes as he yanked Azarni's small white hand off his mouth. “Listen here, I could kill you in an instant if I felt like it; my life has been dedicated to killing people.”
“What do you mean,” the girl said taking a step back, as she thought how this funny old guy could be some sort of a murderer.
“My god, Jashin-Sama, demands that we kill. Why, the purpose of our religion is to kill! What, don't you think this area is forbidden for a reason? Don't you think that I was buried in here with a purpose in mind,” he said smirking as he looked at her almost frightened facial expression.
“But… You don't seem to be that sort of a person,” she said looking into his ruby colored eyes. “Why would you accept a religion like that?”
“And why not, how would you know anything about religion you pip-squeak,” he said poking her in the shoulder. Azarni paused for a minute, before replying the best way she could. Rubbing her shoulder, she said, “What kind of a God would create something just to have it destroyed by another? A few missionaries from Europe came here about a year or two ago, telling of their savior. They said God is loving, kind, merciful, and just. He came and died to save us. If I were to choose between a god full or evil, or a god who would give His life for me, I'd choose the god who saved me, not the one who wants to kill me! For your god may as well be going after you, since all the other people like yourself have the goal of killing everyone so who says you won't be on the bingo list!”
“That's not going to change my ways little girl, so did you just come here to lecture me about a topic I know more about,” he said crossing his arms.
Azarni was about to speak when she closed her mouth again to prevent another argument, and instead told him of what she really came for.
“I came because I told you I'd come back, and I also know you'll need a place to stay. I could bring you to this building near by; it's abandoned, and warn down, but I think it would work.” Calmly, she then took a few things out of the basket that hung from her arm. “I thought you may need some things to help you out for now… I have a tooth brush, some tooth paste, a hair brush, a comb, some shampoo and conditioner, a pillow and blanket, a few cold lunches, and a shaver and scissors.”
“The long hair is really bugging you isn`t it,” Hidan said sighing as she gave a cheesy grin and nodded. Putting the things back into the basket, she looked at him patiently.
“What,” the man said looking at her with a frown.
“Are you ready to go now,” she said looking at him with non-blinking eyes, making her look almost like a cat.
They then cautiously walked slowly out of the forbidden lands, as the girl helped Hidan walk a bit since his foot was still not sewn on yet.
“Well here we are,” the young Nara girl said as the entered into the doorway. “What do you think?” The man gazed around the room, and seemed fine with it as he wobbled over to one of the small couches. “I'm sorry I can't help anymore this week, I'm going on a mission tomorrow and may be gone for a few days so I'll see you later this week at some point… I'll leave this basket right here,” she said starting to walk out of the door. “H-have a good rest, and mend yourself up alright, Hidan?”
“Whatever girl,” he said not bothering to look up, as left.
