Dear Diary,

Naruto, here. It's shocking, but believe it or not, Gaara just asked me if I wanted to go to Sakura's party. Well, I guess technically it's Sakura and Summer's party, but whatever. The party sounds really, really preppy, and I'm really surprised that Gaara's going, especially after Monday, and maybe he's just going to make Sakura mad after what she said about his parents which really pissed him off and really pissed ME off that she would say something like that. I've said `really' five times. Damn. I used to have a crush on Sakura, but I don't anymore. I wonder why? Aw well. She's turned into a preppy… prep… so I don't like her anymore. I'm going to the party so Gaara won't be alone. I hope Iruka'll let me. Probably not. I hope I don't have to lie to him. I hate lying.

“Sasuke… are you in here?” Itachi said lightly, knocking on his younger brother's bedroom door. The door was opened from the inside, and the sight of a mildly disgusted-looking Sasuke greeted him.

“What do you want?” he snapped, narrowing his eyes.

`Someone's happy…' Itachi thought, but he didn't say it. Instead he said,

“Can I come in?”

“Why?”

“Please?”

Sasuke sighed, then pushed open his door, and returned to the chair in front of his desk.

“So what do you want?” the younger teen asked nastily, staring at his brother's face.

“I was just wondering… Are you going to the Haruno's party on Friday?”

Sasuke studied his brother's face, then said,

“Why in God's name would I do that?” Sasuke snarled, crossing his arms, and glaring.

“Because EVERYONE is going to be there.”

“So? I don't like YOUR friends.”

“And apparently you don't have your OWN TO like.”

Sasuke flinched. Itachi felt a tad guilty for saying it, but it HAD to be said.

“Please come?” Itachi begged.

“No.”

“Please?”

“NO.”

“Pretty please with sugar on top?”

“No fucking way in Hell.”

“Oh, come on!”

“Why do you care if I go?” Sasuke shot back, standing. He only came up to Itachi's chin. “Why is it so important to you?”

“Well, I want to go with Kankuro who also wants to go but he wants his little brother to go and he'll only go if YOU go-“

“Wait a sec… Little brother? You mean Gaara?”

Itachi blinked.

“Yeah…” he said slowly.

Sasuke frowned.

“Are you driving?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you going to be as high as a kite when we get back?” Sasuke asked placidly, searching Itachi's eyes for any sign of a lie.

“Nah. Not this time.”

Sasuke turned this over in his head.

“All right. Fine. I'll go. But only if Gaara's going.”

“Yippee! Thank you, Little Brother!” Itachi cried, clapping his hands and feeling very much like a little girl.

“What the fuck, Itachi, you look like a girl.”

And apparently looking like one, too.

“Sorry,” Itachi laughed, grinning. “I promise I won't make you interact with any of the football player, and I'll tell all the girls to back off.”

“Not like they will,” Sasuke snorted, sitting back down at his desk, where his math book was propped open.

“Leave me alone.”

“You got it,” Itachi said. Then he left the room, shutting the door behind him.

“Are you SERIOUS? You got invited to a PARTY?” Iruka cried in disbelief, almost dropping his book.

“You don't have to sound so surprised!” Naruto said, making a face.

“I'm sorry,” Iruka said, rubbing his forehead. “It's just a little shocking to me. Who gave you the invitation?”

“Gaara.”

“Gaara… he's the little raccoon-eyed boy you always pal around with.”

“Yup, that's him.”

“…Well… Okay. Uh… What time does the party go until?”

“Gaara said he didn't know,” Naruto said, shrugging. “I'm just gonna go to his place, afterwards, anyway.”

“Okay… I don't want you out until five in the morning again, though,” Iruka said. “And no drugs or drinking. Can I trust you, Naruto?”

No.

“Yes,” Naruto lied, grinning. “Absolutely. There's no way I would ever do

something that stupid!”

(liars go to hell you know)

“All right,” Iruka said, returning to his book.

“Thanks, Iruka,” Naruto said. Then he went into the other room to stare blankly at the TV for another three hours, before he finally went to bed.
