Chapter 1: Rivalry Match
Number 1!
A jounin walked through a forest. His green eyes wandered around his surroundings—a bunch of trees, a squirrel or two every now and then, and a lot of grass—while his slightly brown-red hair waved through the slight breeze. A white bandana covered a bit of his wavy, yet straight, medium-sized hair.
The jounin wore a brownish safari jacket with a white collar, and a black undershirt under the jacket. He had black cargo pants with several pockets that held his weapons—a couple fumma (windmill) shuriken, a kunai or two—while a large sword hung from the left side of his waist and a smaller one hanging from the right side.
“Hiei!” A deep voice called out, making the jounin jump.
“Who's there?” the jounin called back. After no response, he said, “Answer me!” He made a hand sign, then made his eyes turn white—he activated the Byakuugan.
The jounin searched through the trees, his Byakuugan allowing him to see through the underbrush, hoping to find an explanation of the voice. A kunai was thrown at him, but the jounin's Byakuugan allowed him to see behind himself so he could easily grab a kunai from his pocket and block it.
“I see you haven't lost your touch.” The grass made a slight noise when the owner of the voice landed near Hiei. “Now it's time to continue what we started a long time ago.”
Hiei—the jounin—spun around and examined his challenger. “Kai…”
Kai—Hiei's challenger—was a tall man, about 6'3”. The black spiked hair atop his head stayed put, resisting the breeze. The evil gold eyes stared Hiei down.
Kai wore a white undershirt and a black pair of pants with a sword also hanging from his waist. Some kunai hung from a pouch on his back.
“Let's cut the chit-chat and get this fight over with.” Hiei said, still glaring at Kai, waiting for any sudden movements to draw a kunai.
Kai drew his sword, and Hiei followed suit—letting go of the kunai. “Let's make this a fair fight.” Kai said, staring into Hiei's pupil-less eyes. The two charged at each other and slammed swords. They went on for a while like this until Hiei jumped back and made a hand sign.
“Whirlwind Jutsu!” Hiei yelled and spun around in an extremely fast manner. The attack usually tore people to shreds, but Kai had faced it before, and he knew its weaknesses.
Kai made a hand sign as well. “Earth Style - Land Slide Jutsu!” Rocks and pieces of the earth came falling down. Hiei discontinued his jutsu and leapt back in order to avoid the falling rocks.
“Good job, but can you match this?” He made another hand sign. “Shadow Clone Jutsu!” An army of clones appeared.
“Not this old trick again…” Kai said and made a hand seal. “Earth Style - Rock Clone Jutsu!” The fallen rocks began to merge themselves into clones of Kai.
“Ah, but I've learned a new jutsu as well.” First, each of the clones of Hiei threw a kunai at a clone of Kai, destroying them all and leaving Kai against an army.
The group of shadow clones made a few hand signs then charged at Kai. “Doomsday barrage!” They called out as the hit each chakara hole within Kai's body—that wouldn't kill them—using the Byakuugan.
The shadow clones disappeared and Hiei hung over the fallen Kai—who was covered in blood. “Any time you're ready for a beating, come find me.” And with that, he walked away.
