A/N: Thanks bloodkitsune I really love that you like the fic. ::As an afterthought takes the spinach and chomps away happily:: Yum veggies lol. I’ve always loved most veggies and spinach happens to be one of my favorites. But for making my happy with your review here’s the next chapter.
their money they stood up and left. As they walked back through the restaurant Aya
noticed she was still receiving cursory glances from the patrons that had been there
earlier. Maybe they just weren’t used to females defending themselves Aya thought
before she shook it away. No that couldn’t be it because there were plenty of female
ninja in this village. Maybe it was because she was an outsider and they didn’t think her
capable of defending herself. Well that was just ridiculous Aya shrugged to herself as
she raised both her arms and clasped her hands behind her head. After all what she’d
done was purely instinct, anyone would have been able to do the same. Of course
maybe her eyes had changed or something she continued to ponder. Since she wasn’t
exactly paying attention to where she was walking she bumped into Sasuke who
stopped suddenly in front of her.
“Hey watch where you’re going,” Aya muttered in annoyance as she stepped
back. But instead of an apology from Sasuke she heard Kakashi’s voice.
“What seems to be the problem,” their Sensei asked in a cool voice. Since Aya
was the shortest of the group and couldn’t see what was happening she moved to the
side. From where she was still half concealed by Sasuke’s body she saw the man that
she had humiliated earlier only this time he wasn’t alone.
“We ain’t lookin’ for you Kakashi,” the man said, “I’m looking for that little bitch
that squeezed my balls.”
“She happens to be one of my students,” Kakashi said mildly, “so it appears that
this is also my business.”
“It ain’t,” one of the other men said sneering at the Sensei. “Besides isn’t this a
bit beneath the Copy Ninja. We wouldn’t want you meddling in menial affairs.”
“Protecting my students isn’t menial,” Kakashi said smiling brightly.
“We only wanna talk to the kid,” said the third man with the group.
“Why not let them say what the hell they want so we can get out of here,” Aya
said moving from behind Sasuke. The men turned to look at Aya and the one that had
been humiliated took a step forward. Kakashi however put up an arm while still smiling
and pushed the man back to his beginning position.
“I think you can talk well enough from there,” Kakashi said, his one visible eye
crinkled up in a smile.
“So what did you want to say?” Aya asked stopping the man from giving Kakashi
a scathing remark. The man turned to look at her and he puffed himself up to his full
height looking down. Aya simply smirked and laughed shaking her head.
“What’s so funny?” Asked man number two. Aya stopped laughing immediately
her face becoming a hard mask as she turned her gaze on him.
“I’ve been the shortest kid in my class since God knows how long. If your trying
to intimidate me you’ll have to do a lot better than that.” The man that Aya had
embarrassed at the restaurant stared down at the her confused so Christie decided to
help him out.
“She means she’s short, she’s used to it, so taller people don’t scare her,”
Christie said shrugging. The man frowned down at Christie and then turned back to Aya
who was arching a brow at him as an amused smirk twisted her lips.
“Fine so height won’t scare you,” the third man said, “then a good beating sure
will won’t it.”
“I don’t know,” Aya remarked with a nonchalant shrug, “after all it didn’t seem to
work on your friend.” Though she seemed perfectly at ease her eyes never left the men
and her body never dropped its guard. While she talked she listened as footsteps
approached from behind them though still a good half mile off from the sound of them.
So they had reinforcements huh. Aya suddenly growled at the men baring her fangs
and snarling like a rabid dog. Christie frowned at her friend wondering what she was up
to. After all Aya wasn’t one to allow for public displays of anger. While Aya continued
her snarling performance and the men cowered back from her she hit Sasuke hard on
the arm and signaled backwards discreetly. Luckily Sasuke was quick and he got the
message tapping the others. Christie moved back near Aya and turned her back
trusting her team to protect her while she scented the night air. Keeping her eyes on the
route behind them Christie reached down and tapped Sasuke’s leg. When he glanced
down at the small touch she held up three fingers before she shook her hand and then
held up four. He nodded backing up into position looking off to the right. When Sakura
had taken up her position beside him he tapped her leg revealing four fingers when she
looked down while Christie effectively positioned herself toward the rear. Though their
attackers hadn’t shown themselves yet the team was slowly sliding into position, careful
not to alert the men Aya was scaring silly for the sake of a diversion. When Naruto
realized his teammates were getting into position he moved up on Christie’s other side
looking out to the right. The moment he was in position he felt a tap against his leg and
looked down to see the four fingers Christie was holding up. He nodded slightly and
looked up his eyes glued to the darkness for any sign of danger. While this happened
Aya continued snarling at the men but she slowly slid in beside Naruto and Kakashi-
Sensei, who was facing forward and taking point against the first three goons. Once
they were in position Aya heard a whizzing noise in the distance. For a moment she
simple listened to it as it got closer when she realized what it was.
“Everybody down,” she whispered forcing Naruto’s head to the ground as her
body made it’s decent. Looking around as she heard it get closer she saw Christie low
to the ground as well as Kakashi-Sensei with his hand on Sakura’s head. Sasuke
apparently had needed no help and had acted immediately lying low like Christie.
“What the hell is there problem?” The second man said laughing at the way the
students and their teacher were lying on the ground.
“Who the hell knows but let’s get that little bitch,” the man said taking a step
forward toward Aya. The moment he took his first step however he paused looking
down in confusion. Aya turned to look at him as she smelled fresh blood and she
watched in fascination as the top half of his body slowly slid off of the bottom half. As
his body fell in half, to the ground the man screamed for a second before it was all over.
While trying to stay alert and figure out what the hell was going on Aya stayed very still
straining her exceptional hearing. For a second all she could hear was the sound of
retching coming from Sakura and the low growl of hunger. That was clearly from
Christie, Aya figured watching as the other two men scrambled away from the scene
each with a severed limb. Ghastly Aya smirked to herself inching out of the circle on her
stomach and moving carefully around Kakashi to see what had caused the blood-shed.
“Keep Christie over there if you want to turn this in to the authorities,” Aya
muttered to him as she examined the body.
“A wire did it,” Kakashi said slowly staring at the carnage with dead eyes for a
few more moments before he lifted his head slightly and looked around in the darkness.
“Great a killer who uses wire,” Aya muttered to herself, “why not. Still happy we
missed work today?” She called back to Christie. Christie’s only answer was an
inelegant snort but it let Aya know she’d gotten herself under control enough that the
blood wasn’t bothering her. “Well that’s one good thing in our favor,” Aya continued
muttering to herself as she listened to the silence around them.
“What’s so good,” Sakura asked after she’d stopped gagging.
“You don’t wanna know,” Aya said continuing to listen to the darkness settling
around them.
“Yes I do,” Sakura said stubbornly.
“Suit yourself,” Aya said in a slightly singsong voice as she continued listening.
“She’s just happy I’m not going to start eating and lapping at the dead man,”
Christie said with another inelegant snort, though this one was aimed directly at Aya.
The girl only shrugged as she continued to listen.
“Hey you ate that one dead cat after it had been ran over,” Aya reminded her
friend as she smirk.
“I was like five,” Christie snapped going back to her sniffing to cover her bruised
pride. But it seemed Sakura wasn’t convinced.
“I know when you’re being sarcastic,” Sakura said stubbornly, “now what’s so
good.”
“You know nothing about the far reaches of my sarcasm both direct and subtle,”
Aya said loftily. “I’m dead serious in the matter that I was worried that Christie might just
eat the body.”
“But why would she do a thing like that?” Sakura persisted.
“Because she’s a Werewolf and it’s still warm,” Aya said chuckling softly.
“I don’t believe you,” Sakura said. “Christie would you really eat the body?”
“Sure if I was positive that I could without any repercussions.”
“But why?” Sakura demanded refusing to accept facts.
“Look you really don’t wanna know that?” Aya said creeping away from the body
to sniff out the wire though she wondered if she should have let Christie do that. Her
nose is better Aya mused, though her’s was also extremely sensitive just not as much.
“I do want to know,” Aya heard Sakura say before Christie answered her.
“I’d eat the body because it’s warm, and bloody, and because the intestines are
intact and moist and one of the best parts of the human body to eat.” That was it, Aya
thought in amusement as she heard Sakura retching again. She called back, though
only loud enough so that the small group could hear her.
“Told you, you didn’t want to know,” Aya said with a grin as she continued
moving further off the path and into the trees. After she’d slid across the ground for
more than a few yards she saw the thin slip of wire hanging just above her head. As
she slipped closer to it she realized that her group was no longer in sight and that they
were perfectly quiet. So was the entire strip of forest that she was crawling in now. She
strained her hearing for anything that might be coming. As she got closer and closer to
the wire she sniffed deeply, confident in her hearing because even if something was
trying to stand completely still she’d have still heard something. When she reached the
wire she reached up ripping it down and she winced lightly as it bit into her hand cutting
it slightly. With her task done she slowly made her way back to her comrades and
moved straight to Kakashi handing him the wire. Taking the small slip of metal from the
girl he noted her hand and started to say something. Noticing where his gaze was gong
however Aya shook her head and licked her own blood off her hand showing him it had
already healed. Kakashi stared at Aya for a few moments in surprise but she was
ignoring it and moving back into position silently. As she settled back in her spot she
watched as Kakashi stood up and motioned for them to do the same.
“That was amazing,” he said in surprise, “I’ve never had a group of students
finish that exercise in a faster time. As the students got to their feet Aya stared at
Kakashi incredulous as he pushed the other man’s body together and he stood up as if
nothing had happened.
“Well Kakashi-San it was a pleasure to help as always,” the man said turning to
wave when he saw his friends coming from both directions toward them. There were
four just as Christie had said she noted with a frown.
“See you Kakashi-San,” the men said as they began walking away, all except the
one Aya had humiliated. He walked up to her and held out his hand, a rueful grin
twisting his lips when she took it and shook it firmly before reclaiming her own.
“Sorry about the trouble I caused you,” he said smiling down a her, “I really didn’t
mean to grab your breast. I ask for your sincerest apologies,” the man said bowing to
Aya. The girl shrugged, blushing as she backed up hastily.
“No please don’t,” Aya said shaking her head quickly, “it’s no big deal and I
probably caused you a lot more pain than you did me. I didn’t break anything did I?”
Aya asked carefully. The man, Sasuke, Naruto, and Kakashi broke out into deep
masculine chuckles that had Aya scowling at all of them. “You know I think I could bite
you all and drain you by morning,” Aya said matter-of-factly but this only earned her a
hair ruffling by Kakashi.
“Relax Aya-Chan nothing was broken,” Kakashi said, “bruised maybe but not
broken.”
“Oh well then let’s let bygones be bygones,” Aya said shrugging as she fought off
a blush. Luckily the man decided it was time for him to go because he said good bye to
Kakashi again and walked off. The minute the man was out of earshot though Aya
rounded on Kakashi.
“You mean to tell me that was a test the entire time. From the minute we walked
into the. . .” Aya stopped pondering what was happening. She looked up at Kakashi
arching a brow with a smirk. “Oh I see. You were late because you were setting up this
test. When you got to the room you already knew there were stuff above the door
because how could you not when you’re an elite ninja.”
“You let the stuff hit you and you got mad,” Christie continued for Aya with a grin.
“Then while you tried to think of a good way to say let’s go and get lunch Aya-Chan did
it. Since she’d solved your problem for you, you went along with it and led us straight to
the restaurant.”
“When we entered the restaurant you made sure a female went in last, and it just
happened to be Aya,” Sakura said taking up the slack. “You weren’t even all that
surprised when the man came upon her. The only thing that really surprise you was that
Aya beat him alone. After that we order our food and you ordered light even though Aya
said get whatever we liked. After that we all exited the restaurant and you decided to
walk us home.”
“When the men came up on us you acted like the concerned Sensei but you
were a little too calm,” Sasuke said with narrowed eyes. “You let us handle the situation
and said nothing in the way of direction.”
“The only real help you gave was to make sure Sakura was down low enough
that she wouldn’t get hurt,” Naruto pointed out with an arched brow.
“And then you let me go into the woods alone and retrieve the wire even though
you knew where it was the whole time. You didn’t even tell me to do it but let me do it
on pure instinct,” Aya said still smirking. “Have we pretty much got this Kakashi-
Sensei?” Aya asked folding her arms under her ample chest.
“Yes that was perfect,” Kakashi said smiling, his one eye crinkling in amusement.
“You all pass,” he said patting each of them on the head in turn.
“Wait pass what?” Naruto said confused.
“This was my survival test,” Kakashi said shrugging lightly. “You all passed and
are now Genin. You showed superior teamwork, quick action, steady planning, and a
couple of you some impressive leadership and deductive skills. Congratulations you are
the first team to ever pass. The students looked at each other in surprise before they
grabbed Aya in a huge hug and began bouncing up and down. For a minute Aya
jumped with them but then she pushed them off gently and stepped back.
“Ok that’s enough of that mess,” Aya muttered though she was still grinning.
“So Kakashi-Sensei what does this mean now that we’re Genin?” Sakura asked
slowly.
“Well it means you are my team from now on,” he said with a shrug. “I’ll be
training you to get stronger after you take your Ninja ID pictures tomorrow. Meet me in
the wooded clearing after you’ve all had your pictures,” he said with a crinkled eye to
prove he was smiling. Well I’ll see you tomorrow team,” he said to the stunned faces as
he turned and walked off.
“He’s gonna be one hellava Sensei,” Aya said grinning. “Oh well crash at our
place tonight,” she said suddenly. “I’ll make breakfast in the morning. Everyone cheered
and they all raced toward the house. As Aya walked sedately behind them chuckling
softly she wondered what tomorrow would bring and if she was really cut out for being a
Ninja. She also wondered though she’d never admit it, if she was really starting to fit in
here.

After dinner Aya paid her share as promised and once the other’s had addedtheir money they stood up and left. As they walked back through the restaurant Aya
