“… h… how?” I asked stunned making Shori smile sweetly.
“Why don't you guys go and help the other ninja's?” He asked the genins, who nodded approving his suggestion. When they were out of our view the blackhead walked up to me with spread arms. I leaped back and a hurt expression came on Shori's face.
“Are you scared of me?” He asked pathetic.
“Don't tell me I hurt you. You're the one who kidnapped me in the first place!” I yelled back seeing the sadness in his eyes.
“But I thought you wanted to marry me.” His voice started to whine like a little child.
`Is this really the man that had his hold on me for a whole month?' I questioned my sanity. “There's only one person's bride I want to be.” It even shocked me that I just confessed that.
“Who! Let me know the name of me rival!” Shori screamed out in a very Lee-way.
“You don't know?” I asked surprised and got a sheepish smile as answer.
“It's still the Kazekage then? You could have changed by now.” My mouth fell open in shock while giving him a dead-glare. “Alright, the Kazekage it is.” He said completely ignoring my glare. “He really isn't that great, you know. He doesn't even know that his ninja's can be bought so easily.” He continued nonchalant.
“So that's how you got here?”
“Yeah, I overheard some chuunin say his mother was dying and he couldn't pay for the medicines. So I offered him money in exchange for the forbidden jutsu of his clan. And luck was on my side because it was a teleportation jutsu.” He informed me happily like he had just won the noble prize.
“So you trick a poor man.” I said dull.
“You could look at it that way.” He said sheepishly and I couldn't help but wonder of the action of the last couple of days had made him so alive. `He must have been really depressed after losing his love.'
“But back to the important thing. I'm going to win your love!” He declared which only let to me looking at him like he had lost it.
“Alright, then help me deliver this to the Hokage.” I offered. Help was always welcome.
“Of course, follow me.” He pulled his katana out of the body of the black haired woman and started to run towards the south wall.
`I just hope he isn't going to betray me when he sees Danjuro.' Was my last thought before running after him. But not before getting a weapon's bag richer. `Thanks and rest in peace.' I said to the still warm corpse before jumping over it.
-
Through a miracle we made it up the wall and got a view over the real battle. Most of the ninja's were to fast for me to follow, but here and there I got a flash to see of someone standing still and even recognize a couple. I noticed Neji and to my surprise saw that he hadn't activated his byakugan.
“He can't see his attacker with his blood limit.” Shori explained when he noticed me watching the Huuyga. “It's the Matshuo's blood limit.” He continued seeing my surprised face.
“Oh right.” I mumbled remembering his explanation. A big wave of wind pulled my attention and I discovered Temari a couple of meters in front of the wall. When the air had calmed down again the smell of blood penetrated my noose.
Now I looked perspective around the battlefield and noticed all the wounded and corpses. “It's awful.” I said almost wishing the scene would disappear of I closed my eyes. But of course I kept my eyes open, I know I wasn't dreaming and I needed to find Tsunade ASAP.
“Do you see the Hokage?” I asked my new partner. When he didn't answer I looked questioning at him and noticed him staring at something in the distance. I followed his eyes and discovered Danjuro fighting an ANBU.
“Shori?” I asked carefully making him retreat from his thoughts.
“He betrayed us, so now I'm his enemy.” He said with a forced smile. I pitied him, but couldn't tell him that it was me, who had informed Gaara and it didn't really madder since Danjuro was going to do it anyway.
“There's your Hokage.” He changed the subject pointing in the opposite direction of his formal friend. This time I followed his finger and saw Tsunade attacking a lot of ninja's at the same time through splitting the earth underneath them, while Shizune was tending to a couple of wounded Konoha nins behind her. I watched a healed ninja jump right back in action, stealing an attacker from his Hokage.
“Let's go.” I said searching for a way down. My eyes got caught by a part wall that lying in ruins. `So that's how they got in.' I realized remembering the fights I had stumbled on. With Shori's help I crawled down to the ground and made my way on the battlefield.
For protection I had obtain a kunai out of my new weapon's bag and my partner held his katana ready to strike when necessary. Thank Kami that the most attackers were already busy at the moment so that we could sneak past them.
-
“Well, well, isn't this one cute.” A voice stopped me and when I turned towards it I saw a guy throwing a ninja, clearly one from Konoha away. The nin stayed motionless on the ground while the guy walked up to me.
“So missy, are you my next obstacle?” He asked smirking.
“Euh, no…” I answered doubtful. I couldn't let him pass, but I didn't really have a dead wish. He raised his eyebrow questionable at me.
“So you're just going to let me pass?”
“Euh, no…” I said again.
“Can you say anything else?” He was clearly getting confused by my behavior.
“Of course I can!” I shouted irritated feeling Shori's present behind me.
“You really shouldn't bother innocent women.” He joined in.
“Shori…” I mumbled warningly. It wasn't a good idea to get in a fight before we got to Tsunade.
“Oh, so the little missy has a protector.” He chuckled. “And with a katana nonetheless.” He grabbed something from his back and pulled his own katana out of his case. “Let's see who the best is.” A smirk colored his lips while his eyes slide back to me. “And of course when you lose, the little missy get's a new protector.” His eyes made it impossible not to get what he meant by that, they were filled with lust.
`Ieuw, if only my real protector was here. Actually where is he?' I glanced around me, but didn't see any red hair. `I did see sand before.' I tried to look as far as I could and thought I saw some sand, but the sound of smashing metal got my attention. Stunned I looked how Shori could keep up with our attacker, but it was clear for me that the attacker was just playing with him.
My hand clenched around the kunai I was still holding. `I need to do something. He can't win this.' I bit my lip watching how my protector blocked another attack, but I saw the change in the attacker's eye.
`He's done with playing! What do I do? What do I do?' As reflex my hand clenched even more around the kunai almost drawing blood, which made me aware of it again. I raised the kunai to my face and looked back to the fight in front of me. Shori was doing everything he could and didn't seem to realize that the guy was just playing him.
Then I saw the change in his eyes again and the handgrip on his katana changed. Without thinking I throw the kunai towards them and to my luck penetrated the man's hand, making him lose his weapon.
“You bitch!” He screamed in agony while Shori blinked surprised at him.
`It's a miracle that I didn't hit Shori.' I sighed relieved, but this feeling quickly disappeared again when the guy pulled a couple of shuriken, dead-glaring me.
“Stop!” An order stopped him. Danjuro appeared behind the guy smirking at Shori and me. “Leave this to me!” He said to the guy, apparently his minor. The man nodded and started looking for another fight.
“Well, well, if it isn't our happy couple. Shouldn't you two be getting married at the moment?” Danjuro asked addressing us.
“If you hadn't informed the Kazekage then we would have been.” Shori spat at him and got a questionable look from the Matshuo.
“You really aren't very smart, are you?” He laughed making my protector only angrier. “I'll admit I did inform the Kazekage, but he could only have gotten it just before the attack. So do you really think that he would be here if he just got my message?” He asked sarcastic and I noticed Shori's face cloud in confusion.
“But who had informed him then?”
“Why don't you ask your girlfriend?” Danjuro offered with a smug smirk. “She must have been dying to get back to her lover.” He putted oil to the fire.
“Shizuka?” Shori asked almost begging me to tell him that the Matshuo was wrong.
“I'm sorry, Shori.” I whispered. The hurt expression on his face made me feel guilty. `He kidnapped you, you shouldn't feel guilty!' I told myself, but it didn't help.
“Don't worry, Shori. I'll punish her.” Danjuro said like he was going to take care of his friend. He pulled his own katana of his back and positioned it at my heart. `What is it with these guys and katanas?' I couldn't help but wonder.
“This will make the Kazekage go mad.” I heard him chuckle before running towards me. My eyes widened and my hand went to my weapon's bag as reflex, but I could never get a kunai out of it in time.
`I need to dodge it!' I screamed in my head, but couldn't help but stiffen in the face of danger. In the corner of my eye I noticed a movement and before I knew it Shori was standing before me, getting pierced while pushing me away. I could feel blood drops fall in my face and watched how blood started to pour out of my savior's mouth.
In a blink of a second Shori's hand turn his katana towards himself and stabbed through himself making an end to the live of his formal friend. Shocked I watched them both fall down, lifeless.
-
I didn't even notice a dozen kunais coming my way until sand stopped them. Warm arms wrapped themselves around me and I got pressed against a firm chest.
“What are you doing here?!” Gaara yelled trying to hide his worry when I looked up. He noticed the blood on my face and started to wipe it of with his thumb. I heard the next weapons getting stopped by sand around me and pushed myself out of my shock state.
“This is for the Hokage.” I mumbled pushing the scroll in his hand and Gaara looked questionable at it. “It's something about the Matshuo clan.” I explained and the redhead got his normal confident look again. I felt the sand around us move again and before I knew it we were standing next to Shizune, who almost hurt us if not for the safety of the sand.
“Kazekage-sama! Shizuka-chan?” She looked confused at us and Gaara pushed me in her hands.
“Make sure she stays save!” He ordered and made his way to Tsunade. There he put sand between her and her attackers. I saw her yell at him, but he just pushed the scroll in her hands, which she accepted irritated, but also surprised. While the Hokage was reading the inside the Kazekage was keeping her attackers busy.
“Shizuka, could you help me?!” Shizune yelled at me and I turned around. “I need you to put pressure on this wound.” She said while I dropped to my knees next to her. I took the place on the nins chest over from her and she started to quickly heal the big wound.
When I looked back to the Kages I saw Tsunade write something on the ground while the redhead was still busying the attackers. “Done!” I heard the Hokage yell and Gaara turned towards her. A big sand wall formed around them only leaving an opening towards me and Shizune.
I watched them make a couple of identical hand signals before pushing them on the writing. A burst of wind flew out of the writings and almost knocked us all on the ground. I bow over the wounded nin shielding him and when I looked up again Gaara was already next to me again.
“What did you two just do?” I asked curious while Shizune laid the last hand on healing the big wound.
“We suppressed their blood limit.” He explained quickly. “I'm going back to the other side. You stay here!” His tone made clear that there wasn't room for objection. He glanced at Shizune, who nodded, getting the message. “She can help me.” Gaara gave me one quick kiss before teleporting to the other side.
“Alright, it's closed.” I heard Shizune say and the nin got back up. He gave me a grateful smile before running towards an open enemy.
Stephke23: I really had a hard time writing this. I knew what I wanted to have happen, but to get that in a story was something else. Review please!
