After dinner we said goodbye and I let Shikamaru lead me to his house. “You know I'm actually glad to be back in Konoha. It's nice to see everyone again.” I said smiled at my companion. We were walking through a quiet street underneath a sky of beautiful bright stars.
“But at the same time you miss all your friends in Suna.” Shika continued for me and I nodded changing my smile into a sad one.
“I wish Gaara didn't send me here.”
“He's only doing what he thinks is best and this is a good idea until you're able to protect yourself.” My fake boyfriend said. “I know he'd rather protect you himself, but it's already been proven that, that doesn't work. He can't be with you; the whole time because of his job and locking you up also isn't an option. Although I'm sure he would be happy to do so.” He glanced teasingly at me and I stuck my tongue out.
“He should try… hmph…” My noose got pointed to the sky and I glanced back before we both couldn't hold our laughs in anymore.
“We're here.” The lazy nin said with a nod to an apartment building.
`Typical japans.' Was the only description I could come up with. We climbed two stairs and walked passed several flats. `This must be so cold in the winter.' I shivered a little seeing the lack of walls or windows over the doors. Suddenly Shikamaru stopped and grabbed my hand pulling me closer before walking further. Confused I looked away from the scenery and noticed a dark figure sitting in front of a door. It seemed it was the door to Shika's apartment since he walked casually towards it. Getting closer I recognized Asuma to my surprise.
“Asuma-sensei?” The lazy nin asked in his bored tone. He clearly already knew what this was about.
“Shikamaru-kun, Temari-chan.” The bearded guy said friendly to me before aiming his eyes back at his formal student. “I know this is a really bad time with you two just coming back and all, but could I stay here tonight.” He begged while stepping aside to let the pineapple-head open the door.
“Got into another fight with Kurenai?” Asuma nodded sheepishly.
“You won't even notice I'm here. Just do whatever you wanted to do.” Shika grabbed my hand before walking in his apartment pulling me with him, and left closing the door to his old sensei.
“We're too tired to do that. You know the place.” Shikamaru didn't even look backwards instead he pulled me further to the bathroom. He pushed me inside closing the door. “Take a bath, there's a bathrobe over there, and a lock on the door. Afterwards come to my room, it's the next door.” He said with a nod to the left. “And try not to talk to Asuma-sensei a lot. He knows Temari pretty well and would figure out pretty quickly you aren't her. I'll try to get him out in the morning before you wake up.” I nodded and watched him leave with a bored look on his face when his eyes caught sight of his old sensei. The first thing I did was drop the hence and walked in front of the mirror. I felt drained and my appearance didn't show different. My skin looked as pale as a corps.
`I really couldn't have hold up that hence much longer.' I sighed and started to undress. “I guess it's only normal since two hours should almost have passed.” I mumbled. During my private sessions with Temari she had made me hold on my hence as long as possible which had been around two hours. She had been really surprised that I could hold it so long for a beginner and had dedicated that I had a lot of chakra, which had been a surprise for me. At home chakra was something slightly different or else we would be doing jutsu after jutsu. `I wonder where all my chakra came from?' Shrugging I opened the tap of the bath and started to wash myself before spilling a bucket of water over me. “The Japans way!” I chuckled and slipped into the tube. The warm water felt great against my aching muscles.
-
Half an hour I later I wrapped the bathrobe around me and sneaked a peek of the hallway. Nobody to see so, I quickly transformed just to be certain and slid out of the bathroom. `Still no one!' I sighed relieved and walked calmly to Shika's room. I grabbed the handle and thought how odd this actually was. I was going to spend the night in Shikamaru's room. `That sounded wrong!'
“T-Tema-ari-cha-an!” I jumped almost a meter in the air from shock and turned to see a drunken Asuma.
“Asuma-sensei.” I eeped. He waggled towards me only stopping when his sake stinking breath was in my face.
“You know…” He slurped making me flinch away.
“Asuma-sensei, you should get to sleep.” Shikamaru saved me from the drunk, who suddenly turned around and hugged his old student like he hadn't seen him in ages. “Yeah, yeah, come on.” The lazy nin moved the arms to his neck and wrapped his own around the older man's waist. Then he opened the door right from him and carried the drunk inside.
“Don't… don't!... Get a woma-an pregn-ant… Ever!” Asuma warned him when he had been laid down on the bed.
“I'll remember now it's time to sleep.” Shika said gently and to my surprise the drunk listened obediently. The pineapple haired shook his head, mumbled troublesome while turning back to me. He nodded to his own room closing the guest room behind him. Inside he locked the door and I dropped the hence once more.
“Now I'm tired.” I yawned.
“You can take the bed.” Shika smiled a little at my expression.
“Where are you going to sleep then?” I asked surprised. Unconsciously I had been preparing myself mentally to sleep with him in one bed.
“I'll take the floor.” He answered already pulling an extra pillow out of his closet.
“You're kidding, right.” My fake boyfriend turned surprised around.
“We've just returned from three days in the jungle and you're going to sleep on the floor?” He nodded, but had stopped taking things out of the closet. He already knew where this was going.
“I'm a big girl. We can sleep in the same bed, especially such a big bed.” I said widening my arms to replicate the width.
“You really don't have a problem with it?” He asked to be certain already closing the closet.
“I trust you not to do anything… especially with the thought of Temari finding out and if you would survive her Gaara's next.” I smiled teasingly and Shika threw the pillow in his hands onto the bed.
“Then let's sleep.” He walked over to the other side of the bed and grabbed his nightwear.
“I'm going to take a bath.” I nodded and started changing when he had left. Completely drained I crawled under the blankets and fell asleep within the next minute.
-
“Sleep well?” Iruka asked friendly between ordering the pre-genins to get to class.
“Yeah, since I finally could sleep in a bed.” Laughing agreeable the teacher pushed a latecomer in front of him. A couple of students yelled a good morning to their beloved sensei before disappearing into several classrooms.
“Here we are.” Iruka smiled at me after dropping off the latecomer with some friends. I could feel myself getting nervous. I watched Iruka walk in and bring his class to order. “For the next couple of days we have a guest from Suna.” He started and the last murmuring quiet down. He waved for me to come in and I had the feeling of being the new kid. “This is Temari-san, a jounin from Suna and the Kazekage's sister.” A couple of impressed sounds came out of the students while I looked over them. Like expected there were no familiar faces to see.
`This is the generation after Konohamaru's so it isn't that much of a surprise I don't recognize any of them.' After some insisting questions Iruka could finally start his lesson. While the dolphin was explaining about chakra molding1 I looked outside for Kakashi and like expected I found him after scanning through some trees. I couldn't help but chuckle a little when I saw that he had his book open, but instead of reading it he was looking over it at his honey. With a smile caressing my face I looked back at the teacher, who rose an eyebrow questioning. I gave a nod to outside and a red shade came on the sensei when his eyes met the one of his boyfriend. `How cute! I really need to know how those two got together.' My smile widened while I glanced from the man in front of the classroom to the one in the tree only the falter when Kakashi suddenly looked sharp behind him. He disappeared from view making my worries increase. Looking back at Iruka, he didn't seem to notice what had just happened. He was facing the board at the moment. Only when our eyes met he glanced outside and stopped in the middle of his sentence.
“Everyone stay inside, Temari-san will keep an eye on you.” He said not even giving his students a glance, instead he opened the window and leaped out of it. Within the second I was standing in front of the class and watched how Kakashi was fighting some black clothed ninja. Then a couple of students got my attention and I understood why Iruka had jumped down. It was clear that the copy-nin could handle the nin, but the pre-genins present where risking their lives.
“… ari-san? Aren't you going to help them, Temari-san?” A little girl next to me asked, it took some seconds before I registered that she was talking to me.
“They don't need help.” I smiled warmly down at her, hoping I was calming her and not blowing my cover at the same time. “Kakashi-san is clearly stronger then his opponent. He is the copy-nin after all.” I put oil on the fire and the students scared expressions changed into impressed once. They were watching THE copy-nin fight. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at their simplistic way of thinking. Turning my head back I noticed that Iruka had succeeded in bringing the students in safety.
-
The enemy nin was clearly losing and our eyes met by accident. I saw a sign of recognition and the enemy gathered the last of his strength. Kakashi had to avoid a metal rope decorated with ninja stars, which reminded me of Tenten a little. The nin didn't wait for his attacker to recover and jumped on the wall running towards me.
“Back away from the window!” I ordered the students while closing the one Iruka had jumped through. Just in time I jumped back grabbing my kunai while the nin jumped through the glass, cutting his legs slightly in process. “Leave now!” I yelled at the students, who were looking petrified, but once one got in action the rest quickly followed. Blocking a star; I put myself in defense mode and glanced outside to see Kakashi leaping towards us. `I just need to keep him busy.'
“Temari-san!” My attacker surprised me.
`At least he thinks I'm Temari. I almost thought that he saw through my disguise… or maybe he's mocking me!' “Since you know my name, can I know yours?!” I asked with played seriousness, making the other smirk.
“You don't need to know…”
“Let me guess, because I'm going to die.” I mocked and the man's eyes narrowed in irritation.
“I really don't like women with so much confidence.” He snarled angry, making some signs. I expected some sort of secret attack, but he had just called up a clone. Without delay the clone jumped outside to keep the copy-nin busy, but he hadn't count on Iruka who attacked him from behind. A small taijutsu match played in front of my eyes while I shoed the last students in the hallway where other teachers stood ready to comfort them. With a final blow Iruka flew backwards and the nin quickly preformed hand signals. A concentrated beam of light penetrated the brown-head.
`He can use light?!' I thought shocked, seeing my friend lose his balance. Somewhere in the back of my mind I heard a poof, making me not so surprised to see Kakashi land in front of his lover. Our eyes met and a quick nod behind him got me into action. I ran to the fallen dolphin and took in the condition of his wound.
Quickly a plan formed inside my head and I started cutting cloth from the end of my kimono. Looking around I found a sink in the corner next to the board and drenched the thorn off clothes in cold water before banding it over the wounds on both sides of his body to lessen the burn.
`There's a good change the beam missed his heart.' I thought, taking in the position of the wound. `Please be alright Iruka!' I prayed silently.
