Chapter 6: The Doubt

 

“He WHAT?!” Sasuke's voice echoed through Kohona. It was a good thing that no one was out, or the whole village would have came running to see what all the commotion was. Sakura flinched slightly, then slowly tried to sit up.

“Sasuke....I don't want to be hurt like that Again....” Her voice came out in a soft whisper as Sasuke wrapped his arms around her in a comforting, yet protective way. His eyes closed as he tried to keep his emotions from showing on the outside. How could He have done this? Especially to Sakura! Sasuke wanted to find his brother and tear his throat out for even speaking a word to Sakura.

“Don't Worry, Sakura-Chan...you Won't Be..I'll make sure of that..I promise that it won't happen again..” Slowly Sasuke spoke. As he did, he slowly and gently picked Sakura up in his arms and started home. On the way, he ran into Naruto.

“Whoa, Sasuke!! What Did You do to Sakura?!”

“Shut up, Dobe!!It wasn't Me Alright?! Now just back of before i let loose on you..” With that, Sasuke walked up into Sakura's apartment and gently laid her on the bed and pulled the covers over her.

“Sakura...I'm going to stay by your side no Matter what....I wont Leave i Promise...”

Sasuke slowly bent over and kissed her forehead. When he turned to leave, he heard a small noise escape his love's lips, then her soft, fragile sounding voice.

“S..Sasuke-kun...Please stay here. I don't want to be alone.” Her voice was soft and Sasuke had a hard time hearing her, but he could understand what she was saying.

“Of Course, Sakura-Chan..” He slowly moved over to her and sat on the edge of the bed and gently ran his fingers through her strawberry locks, watching as her emerald eyes slowly closed.

How could this have happened?..He thought to himself. How could I let him..no..anyone..Get close to her like that? My Sakura? I let this happen to her. I'm swearing to myself right now never to Allow this to happen again.

After a bit, Sasuke found himself laying next to Sakura, putting his head next to her shoulder. He sighed softly and closed his eyes. After a while, he sat up, hearing a knock at the door. Instead of getting up, he just laid there.

“it'll Go away...” He Mumbled to himself.”It will all Go away...”

But the Knocking didn't go away. It was only when he heard Ino's angry yelling that he got up to answer the door.

“What, Ino?” Instead of a hello, or anything for that matter, he was grabbed and slammed against a wall.

“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO HER?! YOU STUID BASTARD!!!” Ino held him against the wall hard and her nose got around an inch away from his. Sasuke's hand went up to his collar and he grunted lowly, trying to speak.

“It..Wasn't me..Ino..It.>Was my brother...She stormed out and I didn't get the chance to Follow..you can ask her..yourself..But...She's sleeping...”

Ino dropped Sasuke onto the floor with a growl, then marched back to Sakura's room.

“Sakura..Sakura..” Ino said softly and gently shook her until she awoke”What happened, Sakura?”

As Sakura began to tell Ino of what Happened, Sasuke stood in the living room with an annoyed Shikamaru.

“..What did Happen, Sasuke?..” Shikamaru looked at Sasuke with a confused, yet understanding look. Sasuke just sighed and then grabbed a frame. In the frame was a picture of Sakura and Him, holding hands in the sunset. He never quite figured out how they got one, but they did.

“Shikamaru...Itachi Got to her....And I wasn't there to stop it...” Sasuke kept his eyes on the picture and sighed a bit, then slowly and reluctantly set down the frame. Shikamaru just nodded.

“Well...Keep Sakura in your sights...Alright?..”

With that, Shikamaru left, A Sad looking Ino trailing behind him. Sasuke slowly shut the door and walked back to Sakura.

“Sakura-Chan..' Sasuke sighed a bit.

“yes, Sasuke-kun?” Sakura's voice sounded dead, as if she hadn't slept in days. Sasuke slowly sat down beside her and gently kissed her forehead, then slowly got up again before walking out.

“Nothing...Just..Wanted to Tell you that I Love You...”
