Chapter 4
Silent Hill

They slowly made their way past the bulletin board heading toward the town that didn't want to let them leave. Kitty held tightly to Beth's hand as they trailed behind the boys. Itachi lead the way, back stiff. His eyes not missing a detail of his surroundings.
He didn't trust this place. There was something strange going on and he had a feeling that all four of them were going to be caught up in something they weren't quite ready to deal with. Unfortunately, he had two innocent females that he had to protect and something told him that his main priority was to keep those two alive even if it cost him his life in the process.
They walked further down the road until Itachi came to another stop. They noticed the road suddenly drops off in another cliff. Kitty was starting to freak out a little more. What was up with this place? It was purposely trapping them so they couldn't escape.
“Let's back track and see if we can find a road that will actually take us into Silent Hill.” Itachi ordered.
They followed the younger man to the right side of the road and went back the direction they came from. They all stayed silent, but stayed close by each other. Itachi was the only one who didn't seem to care to stay close. He seemed to be distracted by something else.
A road appeared to the left side and Itachi started heading down it. Kitty let go of Beth's hand and rushed forward to catch up with Itachi. Beth watched her as she subconsciously moved to Hayate's side. Her arm brushing against his. He glanced down and smiled at the young girl.
He wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her closer to his body. She snuggled in to him, giving a small sigh as she felt a little safer. She found herself trusting this man even though she didn't know him very well. She couldn't help but smile a little bit.
Kitty caught up with the black haired man that lead the group. She fell in step next to him. He glanced down at her from the corner of his eye, but didn't say anything. He just kept walking, trying to ignore the girl.
Suddenly, she stopped walking. Curiosity made him stop as well and turn around to look at the girl. He still couldn't get over how cute she looked in his sweater. She had her hands raised toward the sky, her head tipped back with her eyes closed. That's when Itachi noticed it was snowing. No, it wasn't snow, it was…
“It's snowing ashes.” Kitty stated as she looked straight at him.
Itachi raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything. He turned away and continued walking. Buildings started to appear on either side of them. The fog was thick so they couldn't see which building were what, but they could tell the place was rundown and deserted.
“I've got a very bad feeling about this.” Hayate muttered, unconsciously pulling Beth closer.
Kitty headed away from the group as she made her way to the nearest building. She noticed it was a convenient store. She tried the door, it didn't budge. She looked around the surrounding area and saw a trash can. She picked it up and pitched it as hard as she could at the large display window. The sound of shattering glass echoed through out the silent street. The rest of the group stared at her surprised.
Itachi gritted his teeth in irritation and walked over to her as he clenched his fists in frustration. She was starting to climb through the window, when he grabbed her arm and pulled her back. She glared at him as she faced him. Itachi growled as he leaned forward.
“What the hell are you doing?” She yanked her arm away from him.
“I'm getting us a fucking map, so that we know where we're fucking going.” She hissed.
“By giving away our position? Are you stupid? We don't know what's in this town, so let's stay on a low profile.” He snapped as he grabbed her bicep with a hard hand again.
Kitty tried to knock it away, but the man had a good hold on her. She glared, realizing they were inches away from each other. Why did she have an insane feeling to sink into the strong chest pressing against her breasts?
Suddenly, he just let go. Itachi pressed a hand to his forehead as pain swirled around his head almost bringing him to his knees. He stumbled, but Kitty pressed her luscious body against his to sturdy him.
“Oh shit, what the fuck is that?” Beth screamed pointing down the street.
Kitty and Itachi followed her hand until they saw it. Kitty's blood went cold as she started shaking in fear. The thing was moving toward them was really morbid and scary. It had long jagged teeth that were dripping with saliva. Its eyes were blood red with yellow on the outside. Its flesh was rotting off its bones and the blood was dripping out of decaying wounds. It was hunched over and its knuckles touched the pavement. Its two long nails clicking hard against the cement. Its lower body, where its waist was suppose to be, was replaced with a spine and at the very end of it was three more claws.
“In the store now!” Itachi yelled to everyone.
He tried to move away from Kitty, but his head exploded in pain again. He fell back against the girl next to him. She put a strong arm around his waist and helped him toward the window. Itachi latterly stumbled into the building and fell to the floor as a wave of nausea hit him.
Kitty jumped in after him followed by Beth and Hayate. She ran to the counter and jumped over it to get to the other side of it. She quickly tossed things around, looking for something she could use as a weapon. She ducked down, pulling things off the shelf under the register. Her eyes grew big as she reached forward.
“No fucking way.” She was in awe as her hand wrapped around a shotgun.
She pulled it out and opened it to make sure there was bullets in the gun. She just about creamed her pants when she saw that it was a six round. She snapped it shut and jumped back over the counter, running back to the window.
The creature was now on the sidewalk, gaining on them. Kitty cocked the shotgun and smiled as she pulled the trigger. The gun went off, jolting her body backwards a little at the backfire. The creature screamed out in pain as a chunk of its right shoulder was blown off, blood oozing from the wound rolling down its arm. It fell to the ground and struggled to get up again. Kitty took aim again and pulled off another round. The creature was shot in the middle of its chest. It twitched twice and then fell still.
“God, that was fucking orgasmic.” Kitty stated, breathlessly.
Itachi couldn't help but smile a little, keeping his forehead pressed to the ground so no one could see it. He was slowly beginning to like Kitty. She had spunk even in a situation that was life threatening. He pushed himself off the ground and sat back on his heels. He looked over at Kitty.
“You should probably see if there are anymore rounds behind that counter.” She nodded and did as told.
“Do you feel better?” She threw over her shoulder.
Itachi stopped for a second. His headache was completely gone. He narrowed his eyes in confusion. What was going on? Why did he suddenly get a headache when the creature appeared, then go away when it was dead? He was so baffled at the situation. He wondered if the two were linked together somehow. Moreover, that creature he had seen in his dreams. That's what scared him even more. If this turned out to be exactly like all his nightmares, he was never going to make it out of this town.
Kitty was banging around the counter as Beth walked the aisle looking for anything useful. Hayate followed her, watching her trembling movements. He reached out and grabbed her hand with his warm one. She jumped at the unexpected touch then relaxed.
“Are you okay?” He asked softly.
“Yes. I'll be fine. Thank you for your concern.” Hayate smiled back at her comfortingly.
“I found a map.” Kitty hollered as she placed it on the surface.
Itachi moved forward and picked it up. He opened it studying it for a long moment. He then folded it up and stuck it in his back pocket. He turned his attention back to Kitty. She was on a stepping stool, looking up in the cupboards above the cigarette case.
“Score!” She sang out as she pulled out three full boxes of shotgun rounds.
“There's a motel about one fourth of a mile down the road. I say we go there and rest for a bit.” Itachi stated.
“We need to be careful though. There could be more of those things.” Hayate came up to his friend with Beth clinging to his arm.
“Yes, somebody loves me!” Kitty said giddily as she jumped down from the stool with shotgun ammo and three cartons of Camel Wides.
Beth scrunched up her nose in disgust as she watched the other tear into the carton and pull out a pack of cigarettes. Kitty turned it upside down and started slamming it down on the counter top. Itachi gritted his teeth in aggravation. This girl didn't understand the meaning of quiet. He watched her pull out a smoke, lighting it and taking a huge drag.
“Oh yeah.” Kitty breathed out as if she was in ecstasy.
Itachi had smoked for about a year when he was in his junior year in high school, but quit. Watching her enjoy her cigarette and almost visually see the stress roll out of her body made him want one also. He grabbed the carton and pulled out a pack of his own.
“I thought you quit?” Hayate asked in surprise.
“I did, but some occasions call for a cigarette and this is one of them.” Itachi stated flatly, as he lit up.
“I don't know how you guys can smoke that shit.” Beth mumbled.
“Practice.” Kitty answered as she searched around for a bag or something she could use to carry stuff.
Beth giggled at her response. She flashed the girl on Hayate's arm a smile and wink as she started shoving things in the backpack she found. Only stopping long enough to fill all her pockets with bullets. Itachi stared at her in confusion. She noticed and looked up at him with a cocky expression.
“Lot's of survival horror games. You can learn a lot from Resident Evil and Obscure.”
“Don't forget the Survival Guide to Zombies.” Beth added.
“Hell yeah, my favorite book. Thanks babe.”
“No problem.”
“You guys are hopeless.” Itachi muttered.
“At least we know how to stay alive.” Beth stuck her tongue out at him to emphasis her point.
Itachi looked slightly shocked and baffled. He found himself thinking how immature could these girls get, but they did have a valid point. Any other girl he knew of would have probably been in hysterias by this point, but both girls were calm and collected. He rather admired that. At least he didn't have to listening to whining, bickering females or crying for that matter. He hated over emotional females.
“Hey Bethie, will you grab some food supplies so that we have something to eat. Who knows when we'll find more.” Kitty stated as she opened the bigger part of the bag to put the food in.
Beth started chucking bags of chips and candy at her friend. Kitty quickly placed them in the backpack and caught more of the food flying her way. They filled it up and Kitty zipped it up and threw it over her shoulders, sliding her arms through the arm straps.
“Let's get out of here and find that motel. Maybe well find someone who's living and can tell us what the fuck is going on here.”
“Okay. I'm ready.” Kitty smiled, cocking the shotgun for added emphasis.
“That was so corny.” Beth said laughing hard.
“I know.”
“God help me.” Itachi prayed up to the ceiling.
“Awe, come on Itachi. I think they're kind of cute.” Hayate added.
“You would. Now let's go.” Itachi snapped out the order.
“You're no fun.” Kitty pushed her bottom lip out in a pout.
“Do you even realize how sever this situation is?” Itachi hissed out as he leaned closer to her from over the counter.
She pushed him away and jumped over it to stand on the other side with them. She glared at Itachi as he looked down at her. A thought crossed her mind, that this man would be cute if he'd lose that ridiculous scowl of his. She honestly was getting sick of looking at it.
“Have you ever heard of live each day like it's your last.”
“Well in your case, this could be your last.” Itachi snapped.
“I'm not dead yet.” She near yelled.
“Do want to arrange that?” Itachi's dark eyes narrowed as hers green ones slightly widened.
“Are you fucking threatening me?” She asked in disbelief.
“Yes, if you don't shut up.”
“Listen here Mr. High and Mighty, I'll let you know I was the bitch pulling the trigger and saving us from a monster, while you were on the floor gripping your head like a pussy bastard.” Kitty hissed as she stepped forward bring them nose to nose.
Itachi went to strike out, but Beth was grabbing her best friend's arm and tugging her hard, so they were forced apart. Kitty tossed a glare at her friend, but saw the worried expression. She softened her eyes and brought Beth into a tight hug.
“I'm okay. I'm sorry to worry you.”
“Just don't get people worked up Kitty. You have a tendency to do that and we don't need that right now. We all need to work together.”
“I know. I'm sorry.”
“Kitty and I will lead the way, since she has the shotgun.” Beth told Itachi and Hayate.
“That's a good idea. Will follow close behind you guys so we don't get lost in the fog.”
Beth and Kitty made there way through the deserted store and back over to the shattered window. They helped each other climb back outside. Both glancing around to see if there is any sort of threat waiting for them in the dense fog. Everything seemed to be still and silent.
Itachi went to follow the two girl's still felling a little riled up. Hayate grabbed his hand to stop him from proceeding. Itachi turned to face him with a slight glare. He brushed it aside. After knowing Itachi for as long as he did he knew it was an empty threat.
“What the fuck is your issues?” He demanded in a low voice so the girls wouldn't hear him.
“Nothing.” Itachi dropped his cigarette and crushed it under his boot.
“Bullshit! What's your problem with Kitty?”
“I don't know. She just irritates me.” He couldn't really understand it himself, why he had such a problem with her, so he couldn't explain it to Hayate.
“Well, you need to lie off. She's just trying to make the situation a little bit more manageable and you're being a complete ass to her. Back off!” Itachi's eyes narrowed dangerously as he pushed Hayate away from him.
“Fuck you.” He spat, then walked off.
Hayate watched him for a long moment, then felt a smile tug at his lips. He followed Itachi with a shake of his head. He knew why his friend was acting this way. Itachi was stressed and lack of sleep this was true, but there was something else. Itachi would kill him if he ever voiced it verbally, but his best friend liked her and it pissed him off.
Itachi didn't like attachments. He grew up in an orphanage and didn't have very many friends. He was one to stay quiet and keep to himself. He prided himself to be distant and cold. He never was one to have a girlfriend but did have a few one-night stands.
This is why Itachi was trying everything to push the girl away. This was the first time that Itachi had been attracted to and it scared him. He didn't want to give anyone the opportunity to get under his skin. He was afraid of being left alone again. He didn't want to have to deal with the hurt of being by him self again. This were feelings he was not use to at all.
Hayate had a feeling if Kitty caught on to Itachi's game, she would torture the poor man to death. The girl seemed relentless and very demanding. She played by her own rules and Hayate knew Itachi was the same way. The two were meant for each other. Now, it was just a question on how long it was going to take Kitty to break down the impenetrable walls that Itachi seemed to surround himself with.
