Return To Silent Hill
Chapter 5
The Jelly

Itachi was feeling sick to his stomach as they got to the Motel. He had long decided that there was something seriously wrong with this town. Kitty and Beth were a few steps ahead of him. They were whispering about something, but he didn't pay attention. Something was about to happen. Every nerve in his body was screaming at him.

Hayate came up next to him and that's when he realized he had stopped walking altogether. He glanced at the older man to see the worried expression he wore. Itachi ignored it as he listened very carefully to his surroundings. He was growing uncomfortably uneasy and his heart was starting to pound hard within his chest.

In the distance, a faint sound of sirens from a fire station went off, slowly growing louder by the second. Kitty was next to him now, laying a soft hand on the sleeve of his shirt. Her grip tightened as the sound was now coming down on them to the point they felt like they had to plug their ears. Itachi glanced down at her and that's when he realized it was starting to grow darker out, to the point that he could see her face anymore.

Beth was holding tightly to Hayate. He was holding her as she had her face pressed into his shirt in fear. She had never experienced anything like this in her entire life and she really didn't like anything out of the ordinary. She was a very simple girl who enjoyed a simple life. This was not simple. This was complicated, unnatural and flat out terrifying.

A solid blanket of darkness had now covered over them and Kitty was pressing tightly into Itachi's side as her own fear took over. He unconsciously wrapped his into him, his hand resting on her lower back. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't a little scared too. He couldn't see anything, including the girl at his side. He kept his face blank though as he tried to come up with a plan of action.

A loud gruesome howl ripped through the night sending chills down all their spines. Beth let out a small yelp from the protection of Hayate's chest. He held her tighter as his heart pounded hard. At the sound of her best friend's fear, Kitty was slowly taking deep breaths and trying to calm her own panic. Beth was afraid, so she felt that she needed to be strong.

“Itachi, what just happened?” Hayate's gruff voice came from somewhere behind them.

“I don't know, but we need to get in the Motel now.”

“But we can't see anything.” Beth whispered as she lifted her head.

“I can fix that.” Kitty dug into her pocket and pulled out her lighter.

She flicked it on and light illuminated around them, but they couldn't see much more then before. Still, it was something and put everyone at easy a little. A scraping sound was heard from a distance. Itachi doubled over in pain, as an immense wave of it washed through his body making him gasp. Kitty clung to him as she let the lighter go out. Itachi was panting hard as nausea set in.

“What's going on?” She asked almost frantic.

“We've got… to get out… of the open…” He forced out through the pain. The scraping was getting louder and the fear was almost tangible in the air. “It's… powerful.” Itachi was almost on his knees at this point and Kitty's leadership skills kicked in.

“Beth, take the lighter and light the way. Hayate I need you on the other side of Itachi, so you can help me haul him inside.”

“Hurry.” Itachi growl-panted at them.

“We're going as fast as we can go, big boy.” Kitty answered in a soothing voice.

The sound was so close now it was making her toes curl in her shoes. Hayate had finally moved into position and they were quickly moving toward the Motel building with Beth slightly ahead of them. Itachi was leaning heavily on both of them, trying to get his feet to move, but the headache was almost unbearable. It was worse then any he had had. Whatever was coming up behind them was quite powerful.

Hayate and Kitty were both breathing hard from their effort. Beth was frantically checking the doors, but none of them wanted to open. The panic was rising in everyone, as the scrapping was getting closer. Itachi wasn't even helping now; he was hanging dead weight in their arms, the pain fully taking over every active brain cell.

“Please.” Beth cried out terrified. “God, just fucking open.”

Just as she said that, the door did so jerking her inside the room. Hayate moved in next, his adrenaline giving out and he fell to the floor with Itachi going down with him. Kitty let out a cry of surprise as she was pulled down with them, falling on top of Itachi. Beth quickly shut the door and locked it, letting out a shaky breath as her knees threatened to go out. They were breathless and near tears from the fear. Itachi was more from the pain.

Beth let out a cry as she fell backwards, landing on top of Hayate. They all looked up at the door to see a huge sword had pierced through the wood. It slowly started coming down toward them and they all scrambled backwards, frantically trying to get out of the way. They blade was apparently sharp as it cut through the door like butter, but it looked extremely rusted.

The sword pulled out of the door and everyone waited with bated breaths for it to come slicing back. Instead, they heard the scrapping noise from earlier. They figured it must have been from the blade running against the cement. They all let out a loud exhale and Itachi lay on the grating sweaty. Beth slowly rose up to sit on the bed, which allowed Hayate to rise in a sitting position.

“Well, that was quite interesting.” Kitty responded, as she rolled off Itachi and rose to her feet.

“What is…? OH MY GOD!” Beth exclaimed loudly as she jumped up off the bed, her hand dripping with fresh blood.

Kitty tried the light switch and got no response. She took another lighter from her pocket, the great thing about being a smoker; you usually carried around two or three of them just in case. She lit it over the bed. The whole mattress was covered with freshly spilt blood. Beth lit the one she had from earlier as she wiped her other hand on her jeans trying to get the blood off. Everyone paled as they took in their surroundings.

“I don't think it's supposed to look like this.” Beth whispered.

“I think that's a great assumption.” Hayate moved up next t her so that he could get a better view on the scenery.

The walls looked like they were crusted over with blood. There were long gashes in them like something with large claws had torn at the coverings. The floor was grating and they could see through it, but all that was in sight was endless darkness. Beth stared in awe and reached out for Hayate. He grabbed her hand tightly in his own, giving it a small squeeze.

Itachi finally pushed himself off the ground. His hard had fallen loose from his ponytail and part of it had curtained his face. He was feeling really weak and drained. He moved the back of his hand through his hair to make it fall back into place as he slowly studied the room. He being lying if he said that it didn't affect him that the place looked like it had fallen into hell, but he just didn't care. He had more important things to deal with like the fucking headache he kept getting. He watched Kitty move between the beds to the nightstand.

“Wow, I wonder if I think about how much I want chocolate that'll randomly appear just like this flashlight.” Beth laughed at Kitty and her cunning sense of humor.

“I would like a gun.” Hayate added, chuckling to himself.

“Like this one?” Kitty questioned as she held up the handgun she had just found inside the drawer.

“No fucking way.” Hayate answered in disbelief as he went over and took it. “It's loaded.”

“Good.” Kitty rummaged further in the drawer, looking for anything that they could use on this horror adventure that they had just been sucked into. “Batteries, more bullets, red pen, holy bible. Can't go to any Motel without one of these lying around.” She added in sarcasm. “What the hell is this?” She asked confused as she held up a pendant.

A feeling slid over Itachi as he stared at it. For some reason he felt as if he knew the symbol on the necklace. He made his way over to Kitty's side and took it from her hand. It was heavier then most necklaces, but he had a feeling it was because the thing was bulky and made of pure silver. There was an engravement of a symbol he had never seen, yet it was so familiar. It was a circle with three tails connecting to it, equal space out. Three small lines were in the spaces between the tails but didn't touch them.

“What do you think?” Kitty pulled him from his deep concentration.

“I don't know.” He stated flatly. He slipped it into his pocket and then turned to Hayate. “What should we do?” He asked his friend.

“I have a feeling if we leave this room we'll run into more of those crazy monsters.”

“But we can't sleep here. The beds are covered in blood.” Beth added.

“Maybe we could find a room where the beds aren't… ruined.” Kitty shut the drawer, and then handed the box of ammo to Hayate after putting the rest of the stuff in her bag.

“You want to go back out there?” Beth sounded startled.

“Well, we can't just sit around here and do nothing. We need to find somewhere we can rest. If we are going to figure out a way out of here we are going to need it.”

Beth agreed but the thought of going back out into the blackness made her cringe. They had a flashlight now so they would be able to see better, but still. Kitty seemed to notice her friend's distress. She walked over and grabbed Beth's hand. She cupped it with both of hers and held it close to her chest.

“Hayate and I will go look around; you can stay here with Itachi. If we find something, we will come straight back to get you.” Beth nodded but still looked at Kitty like a frightened child.

“I didn't agree to this.” Itachi stated flatly.

“Then what do you suggest?” Kitty asked looking at him expectantly.

“I don't think we should separate.” Hayate answered for him.

“Then what should we do?”

They all fell into a heavy silence each one of them lost in their own thoughts. None of them had any idea what to do. They were in a very tight position and things were getting creepier as time went by. Kitty let go of Beth's hand and turned fully to face Itachi. He stared back at her with an expressionless face. Her eyes narrowed, but the next words were spoken to Beth even though she glared at him.

“Then we all go. Beth stay close to me and I'll protect you. I think we should go for the main office.” Itachi's dark eye's fell into small slit's but he didn't say anything.

“Okay.” Beth whispered.

Kitty finally turned to face her best friend again. The fear shinning in her eyes were evident and it tugged at Kitty's heartstrings. She lifted her had to cup Beth's face rubbing her thumb along the tan flesh of the girl's cheek in a comforting motion. Beth leaned into the soft touch.

“Be strong, you've got people who will protect you.”

“I know.” There was a tiny smile that appeared on the girl's slight trembling lips.

Kitty offered a small comforting smile of her own, letting her thumb run across the skin one more time before dropping her hand back down to her side. She pivoted to face Itachi one more time with a cocky look on her features. She placed the barrel of the shotgun up against her shoulder to add effect to her badass demeanor. Beth giggled behind her as Kitty raised an inquiring eyebrow.

“Is that okay with you, all mighty leader?” Itachi clenched his teeth together as irritation washed over him.

“Bah.” He scoffed, as he glared at her.

“I'll take that as an okay.” Kitty answered sweetly, turning away from him.

He really didn't like her and it seemed the more time he spent with her, the more he wanted to throttle her. He followed behind the group trying to calm his anger. He never acted like this with anyone else. He was always calm and collected, never showing any emotion. This girl got to him though and he couldn't stop himself from reacting. He didn't know what it was about her the fired his nerves, but she was one of the most infuriating women he had ever had the misfortune of meeting. He rubbed the bridge of his nose just as she opened the door to peek out into the darkness.

“Flashlight.” She demanded holding her hand out for it.

Beth leaned forward and pulled it out of Kitty's back pocket, surprising the girl in the process. They made eye contact, and then both burst into giggles. Kitty took the flashlight, switching it on in the process. She rolled her eyes at herself as she slowly got her outburst under control.

“Wow, way to be with the program, Kitty.” She said to herself as she turned back to look outside.

She heard a giggle and chuckle from behind her. Her smile widened. At least she could lighten the mood for Beth and Hayate. Itachi was a completely new challenge. He was one tough puzzle to solve. She didn't know if she'd ever figure him out, but he was fun to fuck with. She lifted the light, letting it illuminate the darkness. All was clear from what she could see which wasn't very much. She opened the door wider while holding the flashlight with her thumb toward her chest and she had the barrel of the shotgun resting on the forearm. Her right hand on the trigger, ready to pull it if need be.

“All clear, let's go.” She said quietly as she made her way outside.

Beth had a hand gripping the back of her pants at the waistband. Hayate had the handgun cocked and ready to fire as they all moved as silently as possible through the darkness. Kitty jumped as something solid brushed against her right side. She turned to see Itachi next to her. She took a deep breath to try to slow her racing heart. Itachi glanced at her for a brief second, but most of his attention was focused out into the blackness toward the right.

“You scared the shit out of me.” Kitty hissed.

“There's something over there.” He said coldly. Kitty started to turn to shine the beam of light to the right, but he put a firm hand on her forearm to prevent her from doing so. “Don't. It hasn't noticed us… yet.”

He pushed her more toward the left with his body and she went willingly, not wanting to confront another one of those gruesome creatures if she didn't have too. They kept the Motel building in sight as they moved forward. Beth and Hayate searching for the office as the other two were the lookout. They were all growing edgy when it didn't come into view. Kitty glanced behind the group wondering if it could have been the opposite direction.

“Shit.” Itachi growled out next to her, and then the most hideous screeching sounded above them.

She didn't get a chance to figure out what it was though, because Itachi had pitched her forward making her almost face plant into the concrete of the parking lot. She placed her hands down just in time to catch herself, but in the process the flashlight and shotgun were released, sliding out of her reach in front of her.

Beth and Hayate had both landed against a door, which gave out under their weight, pitching them inside. Itachi had fallen next to her, but was closer to the shotgun. He grabbed it with his right hand as he wrapped his left arm securely around her waist.

What happened next was so fast it left her slightly dazed. He flipped over onto his back, dragging her across his chest to the other side of him so she was half on him. He pointed the shotgun to the sky and fired off all six rounds. Kitty looked up stunned just as a human like creature hit the ground next to them dead.

It was more disturbing them the last creature they saw. Its flesh was rotting off with a yellowish puss oozing from the gaping holes in its skin, which was a deathly gray color. The feet and hands looked much like monkeys but there were yellow, bloody claws instead of fingers and toes. Its body shape was very much human and the face was the same until you got to the nose and mouth. There was a long beak there instead of normal features and the beak was sporting a nasty set of jagged teeth.

Its wings were the most prominent of all features. There were five long large bones on each one with blood covering them. They were jointed in three different places, so the wings were curved toward the ground. Bit's of moldy old flesh was hanging off of them and the stench coming from it made a nasty bile rise up in Kitty's throat making her want to vomit, as she swallowed the excessive amount of saliva.

Itachi practically hauled her to her feet, but her knees didn't want to hold her weight. She was pretty much being held standing by him. He was moving them quickly toward the door Beth and Hayate had disappeared in, kicking the flashlight through the opening.

“Get a hold of yourself.” He spat at her, finally dragging her into the room, slamming the door shut behind him.

Kitty was so shaken up, but she hadn't expected an aerial attack. It had caught her off guard, which resulted in her freezing up in fear. She hadn't realized she was cling desperately to Itachi's shirt until he was prying her hands from it. She let go instantly, blushing as she sank against the door. Itachi brushed himself off as he eyed her closely. She offered him a weak smile.

“Sorry.” She apologized him softly, the flush growing slightly darker.

“Not so tough now, are you?” Itachi countered.

She looked away feeling ashamed. He was right; she had been absolutely terrified, to the point that she couldn't function. She wanted to be strong and take care of herself, but everything had happened to fast for her to keep up with. If Itachi hadn't been there and noticed it, she probably would have been the one dead. She owed him her life if not more. He hadn't only protected her, he had saved Beth too. A though suddenly crossed her mind and she looked up at him in surprise.

“What happened to your headaches?”

Itachi leaned up from picking up the flashlight and watched her as the question sank in. She was right. He hadn't gotten one that time. He placed both the flashlight and shotgun on the table, and then reached into his pocket grabbing the pendant. He stared at it with a blank face, but inside feeling confused. He vaguely remembered it heating in his pocket before he had even realized the creature was there. He wondered if it was some kind of charm to strive off his headaches and warn him of the monster's presence. Whatever it was, he decided to place it around his neck and under his shirt just in case.

“Hey guy's, I think you might want to check this out.” Hayate called from the bathroom startling Kitty and bringing Itachi out of his thoughts.

They both glanced at each other. Kitty grabbed for the shotgun as Itachi went for it. Their hands brushed together making a pleasurable shot of electricity shock through their bodies. They both pulled back surprised. Itachi turned on his heel, walking away as he scowled at himself. He had no fucking clue what that had been and he really didn't want to think about it. He had never felt anything like that in his whole life and he didn't like it at all. That was an unknown feeling to him. He especially didn't like feeling that way toward her. He wanted to continue to dislike her and that's what he was going to do.

Kitty, on the other hand, watched him walk away as she rubbed absently at the place they had touched. Her heart fluttering in her chest as her body shook slightly. She was confused, but she hadn't found the feeling unpleasant. Yeah, she round Itachi to be a very stunning man, hotter then anyone she had ever met, but she hadn't really thought about it. She had been preoccupied with more pressing issues, but now that the thought was brought to her attention. She couldn't stop the attraction from forming, even if it was against her will. She swallowed hard as she grabbed the shotgun and flashlight following the confusing man into the bathroom.

She walked into see everyone staring at the wall where the shower should have been. Instead there was a huge hole that started at the floor and almost reached to the ceiling. It was the width of the whole wall. Kitty was surprised, to say the least. She studied it with a weary eye as she took off the bag she was wearing. She emptied the shotgun of the used cartages to the floor, startling everyone in the process. They turned to her.

“Are you thinking about going in there?” Hayate asked.

The sudden scratching and banging on the door leading outside grabbed their attentions. It sounded like something was trying to bust the door down and by the frequency of the noises it was pretty persistent about getting in. Kitty turned back, digging in the bag to get more bullets.

“I am now.” She stated calmly as she reloaded the gun.

“I think I have to agree with her on this one.” Beth added.

Hayate shook his head, but he admitted that he really didn't want to wait around to see what came busting through the door. He reached forward grabbing the light that Kitty had placed on the counter and went forward to enter the hole. Itachi followed right behind him. When they reentered on the other side, Hayate looked around horrified. The small space was lit with candles and had a small shrine set up. Blood was splattered along the walls and dripping profusely off the table that held the small alter. A freshly chopped goat head sat on a silver plate in the middle of the table with its eyes wide and lifeless, mouth slightly a jar. The rot of flesh overwhelming to their nostrils.

“Holy shit.” Beth's voice came from behind them.

“It's holy something.” Kitty responded in disgust. “Who the fuck set's up a sacrifice ritual in a hidden room in a Motel? I mean seriously.”

“Who would do such a terrible thing?” Hayate turned to Beth at those soft-spoken words.

“I'm sorry you have to experience this.”

“Okay love birds, can we just find a way out of here.” Kitty half joked.

Itachi was already moving around, studying the walls closely, and looking for a secret door or something that would lead them out of the mini Satanist church. He stopped short when he ran across a message written, he presumed, in the goat's blood. He reached out, picking up one of the candles. He held it up to the wall so better to read the bloody words. His eyes narrowing at them, remembering they were once said to him in his nightmares.

The Sharingan is the key to opening the door
The Mangekyou is the key to raising God
Find the Prodigy, you'll have the keys

Itachi slowly moved backwards without realizing it. He bumped into his best friend in the process. Hayate looked concerned as he placed a firm, comforting hand on Itachi's shoulder as he glanced at what the man had found. His brows furrowed as he read it confused.

“Do you know what it means?” Hayate asked the other man.

Itachi shook hid head, not wanting to freak his friend out. He wasn't lying. He didn't know, but he was convinced it had something to do with him and that scared him.

“I think I found a way out.” Beth called as she moved around the alter so she was behind it.

Kitty made her way to her friend's side as a half door was pushed open and it lead into a regular room. She held the shotgun up in front of her as she slowly moved through the small space. It seemed like no one was in the room and as she came out fully, she started to make out a little bit of the room from the dim light of the area she had just exited. She let out a sigh of relief.

“We found the office.”

TBC…
Kitty- the name of this chapter is actually a personal joke between me and my friend. When we played any of the Silent Hill games and were sucked into the alternate part of the town where everything was crazy. We called it the jelly and when the town was normal we called it the peanut butter. Don't ask me why, I couldn't tell you. We're just crazy like that. Anyway, please review and tell me what you think. Thanks.
