Scion of Kyuubi
Author: Redux
Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto.
Note: Whew, again I got side-tracked. My job was jeopardized a bit so I had to tend to it. But I'll make sure I continue writing now.
Laser, don't mind the “Reloaded” its just going to be retyped better. More gore, more torture. Stuff like that. The first time I was still new to writing, but I'm getting better. This time I'm taking it easy and walking through it. Everything will happen more or less the same, with a few added twists. Nothing will be subtracted.
Now as far as parings, I can't promise anything. I'm not a “romance” guy, I'm a “just kill everyone” guy... If there is going to be a paring though, it will be Naru/Anko. And I read over all that I had posted on Aff, and... some of it is awful. However, some I can reuse. The second chapter had some good sections in it.
anyways... on with it.
2, Binded in a chain of fate
The sudden sound of water droplets breaking on the wet floor roused Naruto from his slight slumber. Body aflame, Naruto grimaced as he clutched the sides of his shoulders. Everything after his anger sparked at the two Uchihas was just a blur. However, the heavy feeling that he did something that he would soon regret remained embedded deep in his skull.
What did I do as I wasn't in control?
Ripping through the air, the sound of soft footsteps in the water caught Naruto's ears. Tipping his head upward, Naruto saw that a small fox was walking towards him in the water. He flipped over on his stomach and looked up at the small creature, unwilling to believe that a fox would have come so close to him. Which meant only one thing.
“It seems you aren't useless after all...”
The deep, unmistakable voice caught in Naruto's ear. He leered at the fox in front of him and attempted to stand up, only catching himself as he sat up on his knees. He was sure he was still at his limit as he couldn't even bring himself to stand on his own two feet. Why does it hurt?
“I don't think you'll be moving too much more.” Naruto turned his attention towards the fox that stopped an inch in front of him. It's eyes were focused and unemotional. The strange and eerie red glow that emitted from its dead empty eyes was enough to make Naruto swallow nervously. He was certainly afraid of going mad just by looking into the beast's eyes. “Do I bother you child?”
The fox quietly looked down and scratched his right ear carefully. Pretending to be a mild manner forest creature was an interesting defense, but it would not grant him freedom. Which left deception as the final way. “I wonder, has anyone else kept you alive, as anyone else gave a damn about whether or not you live or die?”
Naruto looked downward, covering his eyes with his blond hair. It was true that the Kyuubi granted him health, and even if it wasn't caring about him, he did care if he lived or died. It wasn't exactly the same thing, but at least the Kyuubi somewhat cared. “Not really,” Naruto whispered. As soon as he said it, he could have seen the sly grin on the Kyuubi's face.
“Creatures like you and I have no place in this world anymore. We are guests, living at the false kindness of the people that try to oppress us.” The Kyuubi's words kept stinging at Naruto. Everything he said seemed to push him closer and closer to hatred, and eventually Naruto felt that he would be overcome and loose himself. “But you are different, you still retain your innocence even after all that has happened. If you give me a chance, I'll help you.”
I wonder, if he really means it? Being the kid he was, Naruto still wasn't sure if Kyuubi was playing him, or actually wanted to help him. He wasn't sure what the creature wanted from him, nor exactly what he was. At first, maybe it was just a figure of his imagination, but now it seemed that the Kyuubi was for real. Just what is Kyuubi?
“I know you are frightened, but you cannot let anything get between you and me. I am your one and only friend, never forget that.”A sly grin spread across Kyuubi's face as it started walking towards Naruto again. Soon it stopped just in front of Naruto's feet. “Never forget that you have no place in this fucking world, and I am the only thing keeping you from going insane.”
“Why can't you… just leave me alone!”
Naruto knew that the Kyuubi saw him clench his head and turn around, going back to hugging his knees. Naruto could tell that it could see the frustration and inner struggle inside of him, but he also knew that he was like the Kyuubi himself, and could be easily controlled. “You can't escape your fate now,” Kyuubi said. Naruto could literally feel the grin coming from the Kyuubi, and knew that he would once again try to control him with promises of friendship. He also knew that he would not be able to resist it.
“I don't care,” Naruto said. He tried to give the impression that he was not weak, but he had a suspicion that it wasn't working. “Leave me alone!” He clenched his hands on the fabric of his shorts and tried to keep from hearing Kyuubi's voice. Naruto closed his eyes and leaned forward towards the wall, trying to ignore everything besides his own heart beat. “I hate you.”
“This is not the same Naruto that tried so hard to get a friend…” Kyuubi said casually. Naruto's eyes widened, as the Kyuubi so easily understood him. It was like nothing could get by the crafty demon. Naruto stood back up quickly and turned around to face Kyuubi. Tears were staining the bottom corners of his eyes as he balled his hands into fists. “There, now why don't we talk this over and find out how to get out of our problem.”
“Shut up!” Naruto reeled his foot back and swung forward, wanting to hit Kyuubi as hard as possible. Kyuubi smirked and jumped over the kid's foot, not even bothering to hit him back. Naruto's foot stopped where the Kyuubi was supposed to be and his eyes widened when he saw he hit nothing but air. “W-What?”
(Thump…)
Naruto turned his head upwards to see that the Kyuubi had landed on the top of his head. He started to sweat nervously as the demon leered down on him with shining red eyes. “I thought you were smart, but it looks like humans will be humans.” Naruto was very nervous at this point, because the Kyuubi may not even need his conscious anymore, so he could be killed at any moment. “You're probably wondering if you're going to die I bet,” Kyuubi said, “well the answer to that is no, I'm not going to kill you.”
“Let us get back to what we were talking about,” Kyuubi said, jumping off of Naruto's head. It turned back around and looked Naruto straight in the eyes, giving off some murderous intent. “There is no place for you in this world as you stand now, I will always be with you no matter where you go, no matter what you do.” Naruto didn't really know if he could trust Kyuubi, but so far he had not made anything too bad happen to him right? “I will protect you…”
“Protect… me?”
The Kyuubi nodded at Naruto before putting his head towards the floor. “I will make sure that you live on, just let me have control.”
All of a sudden it clicked back in Naruto, he stumbled backwards into darkness, eyes wide as he left his mind. He had resisted the Kyuubi for now, but even he didn't even know how long he could keep up his will.
“WAAAH!”
Naruto startled awake in an instant. He looked around and saw that a crowd of people had already started to gather around the scene. He looked behind him to see that the corpses were still there and his eyes widened. No don't look! He turned his head back around in an instant and clenched his eyes shut. The memories of what had happened last night came back to him, and he certainly didn't like it.
“What is going on here?”
Naruto winced as the Third Hokage stepped forward. His eyes widened as he saw the mess, two Police officers dead, with Naruto covered in dried blood. The villagers were screaming for punishment, and the Hokage was in the middle of it. Sighing deeply, the Hokage adjusted his hat and looked down at Naruto, who had tears in his eyes and an innocent, but confused look on his face. `This is going to be trouble.'
“Naruto… come with me.”
Naruto grimaced with wide eyes. He said it … harshly. Never once had the Third spoken to him like that, it made him wonder if he was going to be taken care of. He stood up in shame, keeping his head towards the ground as he walked over towards the old man slowly.
“Don't worry Naruto… I'll make sure this is taken care of.”
Naruto simply nodded and followed the old man as he left the crowd. “Clean up that mess!” he said to a couple ANBU who immediately saluted and entered the crowd. “Naruto, when we get back I expect you to tell me exactly what happened.” Naruto simply nodded, he didn't want to get on anyone's bad side right now.
The two sat down in the Hokage's chambers. The Third was ready to find out the truth of this story, for it seemed that Naruto was the prime suspect in a murder… “Naruto, I want you to tell me everything you remember… and truthfully.”
Naruto shifted in his seat. He was already getting nervous from the interrogation. He swallowed nervously before calming himself down the best he could and looking up at the Hokage. “W-Well, I was kind of depressed last night, umm… I was walking on that street and those two wanted to beat me up.” The Hokage sighed after the statement left Naruto's lips, Naruto could tell that he probably didn't believe what Naruto was telling him. “I blacked out… and I came two in some sort of cell… I talked to a nine tailed fox and… it said that it would be my friend.”
“I have no time or patience for lies today Naruto.”
“But it's the truth!”
“I said… I have no patience for lies,” The Hokage repeated.
“Then maybe you'll tell me the truth!”
The Hokage recoiled at that. Suddenly he was the one being interrogated. Naruto stood up on his seat and leaned over on the desk, leering at the old man. He had a feeling that he knew what the boy wanted to ask him, but could he really tell him that? “Fine,” the Hokage said in defeat, “what do you want to know Naruto?”
“Why am I hated?”
“I can't tell you…”
“WHY?”
“Because it is forbidden! It is best that you have no knowledge in such things.” His voice was harsh and rebuking. Naruto looked away and sat down in his seat. He already knew the secret, but he couldn't get anyone to tell him anyways.
“You hate me too… don't you?”
The Third visibly flinched when Naruto spoke. Naruto immediately took note of that, but he couldn't believe it. The Hokage hated him to? Am I jumping to conclusions? He thought about it for a moment, and that was all it could be, after all a Hokage's job is to respect and care for everyone, and he was no… exception…
“Naruto… what would make you say something like that?” the Hokage defended himself as he looked at Naruto, hoping that would be the end of the matter.
“You're just looking after me because it's your job!”
The Hokage flinched a second time. Why was he so nervous about Naruto? Oh yeah… because he was right. What am I thinking, this little kid can't outsmart me, and yet he's making me flinch!
“I can't stand this place!” Naruto screamed out.
He took off running and the Hokage just stayed there and stared at the spot where he was. Why don't I go after him? I wonder if he's really going to leave? If the Hokage was right, and the boy did leave, the town would become peaceful again, and they would have happier days and forget about the Kyuubi attack. However, who knows what would happen to him out there, what if someone who held a grudge against Konoha, like the Stone or Cloud, captured him? I certainly hope I'm wrong; maybe he'll stay here. After all, it's safer here than out there in the real world. Even though he said it, a part of him just wanted Naruto to leave for good.
“No one will ever accept you child, and everyone hates you, so let loose and kill the bastards!”
Naruto slammed himself down hard on his bed face first. The Kyuubi was bloodthirsty again, and it wanted to kill. Last night had excited his lust for blood, and once again he felt the need to release his anger. Naruto had managed to keep control of him this time, but his control was fading… and so was his sanity.
The kid will break down soon, Kyuubi thought, as long as he has no parental figures he's pretty much a loose canon. Meaning that I can control him… but at what cost? Kyuubi cursed itself for bonding with Naruto. Some of the child's sympathy had rubbed off on it, but Naruto's anger flowed through it, meaning it was even more of a demon now than before as Naruto's also fueled its own anger. It doesn't matter, he will be of great use to myself soon.
It was still early in the day, as the sun had just peered over the horizon and not even half was seen yet. Naruto never did like to start off the day with a depressed mood, because it always ended with a bad day… this day would be no exception. He crawled back up in a fetal position, holding his own knees tightly as he turned over to the side, looking at his bedside table. What should I do now?
With what he had done to those Uchihas, he was probably a suspect for murder. He would be in trouble if the Hokage decided to do anything about it, and considering that he probably hated him… it was probable that he would.
“Why don't you just listen to me?” Kyuubi said.
I can't trust you anymore, you're the fucking cause of all this!
“Friends are supposed to trust each other…”
Naruto narrowed his eyes and sat up in his bed. Not only was he angry at Kyuubi for trying to sway him, but it didn't help that he didn't really know what being a friend meant. Then again why should a demon know anything more about it? He jumped down to the ground and walked to the center of the room. The apartment was pretty neat and tidy for his age, but then again he didn't have much money to spend on anything either. Feeling a little restless from the rouge amounts of adrenaline still in his system, Naruto decided to take a short walk. If nothing, then that walk would be able to clear his head a bit.
Naruto walked out of the door and down the stairs to his apartment. He walked out to the riverside to see that they were already putting up banners. I hate that day more than any other day… He thought of what happened last year at his birthday. He saw a lot of people enjoying their birthdays with their family, and getting presents. The most that Naruto had gotten on his birthday was a beating from the local villagers.
The festival was going to happen soon. Everyone was starting to prepare for the celebration of the defeat of the Kyuubi. It was a beautiful celebration with strung lights, many games, and people having a lot of fun. However the best Naruto could do was be served by the nice old man at the ramen restaurant. To think that I only figured out why today… Naruto sighed and continued along the roadside.
In October the trees had already started to loose their leaves. They still swirled around them in the nightly winds that pulled in from fall. It was chilly for him, as he only had a short sleeve shirt and shorts to last him even through winter. “What am I still doing here?”
Maybe it would be better for him to leave; only the man at the ramen stand treated him with any shred of respect. However, even then it may just be that he was another customer, not even bothering to see him as something more.
Taking a step to the side, Naruto turned on the first row of buildings, avoiding the festival preparations as best he could. People were once again giving him cold glares like before, but unlike before… they had a new emotion driving them.
“I heard that he killed two Uchihas single handed without even lifting a finger…”
There was a group of adults murmuring as Naruto passed. Each one of them was staring at Naruto with nothing but fear in their eyes. He was a murderer in their eyes, and by the looks of it, he would keep his reputation. “I heard that the demon killed the two Uchiha's and was laughing the entire time!” another said loudly. The others hushed her up with their hands as Naruto walked by. He had heard her… but he didn't want anything to do with it.
“I told you they wouldn't accept you…”
Please… be quiet.
Naruto was quickly reaching the end of his sanity, and the comments from the villagers and the Kyuubi was not helping him at all. He sat down on one of the benches on the side of the road and watched as the world passed him by. Kids played with their friends, still something alien to Naruto. People were talking, and generally having a good time, despite his presence. It makes me loose hope…
Naruto had felt alone a long time; ever since he was born he had been given that feeling. The feeling of worthlessness, that was something that Naruto knew well. He had been constantly pushed away from everyone, even when he tried to help the villagers. It had really hurt his soul, his heart. The pain that he got from them would probably be unimaginable, but he kept on smiling despite all of it.
I'm sick of smiling...
He covered his eyes with his hands and placed his elbows on his knees, kneeling over towards the ground. Everything all of a sudden was spiraling downward, and there was no sign that he would be able to stop it. He was sure that everything was beginning to piece itself together, but what were the chances that Naruto would like the answer that would be given to him?
Gritting his teeth, Naruto peeked through the openings between his fingers and watched the world pass him by. Time moved for everyone else, they grew, they made friends. However, time had stopped for Naruto. He wasn't growing, and he wasn't making friends. He was being ostracized and he finally saw it. They were keeping him from growing...
“What are you doing all alone?”
Naruto raised an eyebrow as he looked over towards who had spoken.
Naruto's eyes snapped upward to see an unfamiliar ninja. She had purple hair spiking behind her head, and a open tan trench coat, finishing up with a light brown mini skirt, and a fishnet body suit. Whoever she was, she seemed to have a cheery, but secretive aura. And how the hell he knew that he had no idea, it seemed to be just a feeling he got from her.
“I'm always alone.”
“Well that's no good!” He was a bit annoyed, but flushed slightly as she sat down beside him. Unlike the rest of the village, she didn't seem to mind getting close to him. Maybe it was just because she didn't recognize him or something. “W-What do you want?”
“No need to be rude,” She said. As she relaxed back in the bench, she turned her head to the side and smiled back down at Naruto. “But I'm actually in a good mood today brat, so I don't want to see anyone else in any less of a good mood.” Naruto blinked a few times, before chuckling. She was a funny person, and it made him sad that once she found out who he was that she would be scared of him too.
“The name's Mitarashi Anko, and what's yours brat?”
Swallowing nervously, Naruto muttered his answer, “Uzumaki Naruto.”
Anko was quiet for a moment before she chuckled as well. “Naruto huh? strange name. Your father must have had a good sense of humor...” She said it like she...
Naruto's eyes snapped wide as he turned over towards where she sat, only to see no one there. “was there a chance that she...”
Naruto's face turned serious as she stood up. Anko had given him something to think about, and there now was a chance that he might actually find out about his family. He turned and walked away, confident that he might eventually find out something soon.
Behind him, Anko watched him walk away from the safety of a dark alley. I let that slip, that wasn't good. But for a kid like him that's binded in a twisted chain of fate... I guess I should give him some hope. Sighing Anko turned away, confident that Naruto would be happy for at least the rest of the day.
To be continued...
Note: I'll get started on the next chapter right away...
