After Gai-sensei finished the teams, it was:
Team A: Shino, Dosu, Chouji, Gaara, Haku, Sasuke and Neji.
Team B: Naruto, Kiba, Kankuro, Shikamaru, Rock Lee and Zaku.
While the boys got in place for the first round, girls sat on the side bleachers and cheered for them, well mainly for Sasuke. Ino and sakura stood up and cheered on the top step of one of the bleachers.
“Go Sasuke-kun!!!” Ino shouted, flaring her fisted hands around in a cheering wave.
“You can beat them all!” Sakura shouted as well, flaring her arms just as enthusiastically as Ino.
“Ok children! Lets see those spring time spirits burst into action!” Gai-sensei shouted from the side lines as he signaled for the game to began.
Each boy ran over to the center of the gym and grabbed a ball then ran back and got into position, each ready to aim at someone on the opposite team. Sasuke smirked as he aimed towards Naruto and Naruto did the same. Shino aimed towards Kankuro while Kiba aimed towards Chouji. Haku aimed towards Shikamaru and Zaku towards Dosu. Rock Lee was ready to go after both Neji and Gaara for an earlier fight while they teamed up towards him. Everyone aimed towards someone and as soon as the whistle went off, each threw their ball.
“Out!” Gai shouted as Chouji fell to the ground from a ball to the gut. “Out!” he shouted again as Shikamaru lazily took a ball to the arm.
Both Shikamaru and Chouji walked over to the bleachers while the remaining boys picked up balls and re-aimed. The whistle blew and the balls flew as each boy tried dodging, but for some, it didn’t work.
“Out!” Gai yelled as Kankuro got hit by a ball in the leg.
This kept going until it was just Naruto and Sasuke left. The girls shouted even louder, cheering the young raven haired boy to victory. The boys who were already out decided to cheer for Naruto. They yelled, trying to match the girl’s shouts, for Naruto to win. Naruto grinned and nodded while Sasuke took no attention towards the girls.
The whistle went off and both boys threw their balls. Both dodged and quickly grabbed another ball. This time both hit, but not how expected. The girls gasped as the ball Naruto threw clashed with Sasuke’s face while Sasuke’s ball did the same to Naruto. Both fell to the ground and both slowly sat up after a few moments.
Shikamaru, Kiba and Kankuro ran over to Naruto’s side, taking notice to the small line of blood from Naruto’s mouth from the ball’s strike. While all the girls ran over and began to coo Sasuke.
“Sasuke-kun, are you ok!” Sakura shouted as she kneeled down beside Sasuke. “Naruto you’ll pay for this!” she growled towards Naruto with an accusing finger as her and the other girls glared at him.
Naruto and the others just gave them a look like they were crazy, not that they weren’t, and stood up. Sasuke stood up as well and sighed. Neither showed any pain, not even the blows to their egos as they walked off to separate bleachers.
“Ok girls, your turns!” Gai shouted as the girls whined in disappointment and walked out to the gym, waving towards Sasuke in a futile attempt for his attention.
He just turned the other way as if they weren’t even there. After a few more rounds and a game of kickball, the bell rang and signaled the end of class. The boys and girls piled into their changing rooms then out and towards their next classes. Naruto didn’t go straight to his class though. While he was changing, his cheek began to swell from the earlier incident. As he opened the nurse’s office, he froze as he saw the young Uchiha sitting on one of the spare beds inside with a ice pack on his left cheek.
“What the hell are you doing here!” Naruto shouted.
“Same reason as you, dobe” Sasuke replied as he pointed towards Naruto’s swollen cheek.
“Oh no not you two!” The Nurse Yuuhi shouted as she walked into the room and looked at Naruto’s cheek.
“Eh ya about that…” Naruto said with a nervous laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck.
He had a reputation about coming into the nurse’s office from either being bullied or picking fights. Either way he always ended up with scratches and bloody messes.
“Naruto!” she yelled at him.
“Its cause he threw a ball at me in dodge ball!” Naruto shouted, pointing towards Sasuke as he backed away slightly so the nurse wouldn’t whack him for being ‘reckless’.
“I can see you come here a lot” Sasuke snickered from behind.
“Shove it!” Naruto shouted.
“Both of you shut it!” the nurse yelled as she threw an ice pack at Naruto, which since he wasn’t paying attention, ended up hitting him in the back of the head.
“Ouch that hurt” Naruto whined as he picked the ice pack up and placed it on his cheek.
“Well the you shouldn’t- “
“Hello, Kurenia!” Naruto looked behind nurse Yuuhi to see his science teacher, Mr.Asuma.
“What did I tell you about using my first name during school hours!” Kurenia shouted as she turned to face Asuma.
“Hey, hey I didn’t mean to get at ya” Asuma said in defense as he placed his hands in front of himself as a shield.
“We can see you two have a few issues the you need to work out” Naruto said as he grabbed Sasuke by the hand and walked over to the door. “Don’t do anything too close though!” he snickered as he ran out with Sasuke and closed the door in time to evade a tissue box thrown at them by nurse Kurenia.
“What was that about?” Sasuke asked as him and Naruto walked out of the main office and down the now empty halls.
“Some major love complex issues between teachers” Naruto snickered as they continued down the halls.
