Cerulean blue eyes bore into coal black ones as Naruto and Sasuke glared at each other.

“I will not skate in that stupid competition” Sasuke growled as him and Naruto continued the small war of glares.

“Yes you will” Naruto huffed back. “Temari asked me to train you, so you could enter, since I cant.”

“And why cant you?”

“Because I’m in the band competition.”

Sasuke glared for a few more minutes before huffing and looking to the other side. Naruto grinned, a foxy grin showing victory since this was a sign that Sasuke had caved and agreed.

“Don’t think I wont get you back for this late, dobe” Sasuke said in a deadly tone.

“No worries! I can teach you and practice at the same time! Just stop by my house tomorrow and we’ll start!” and with that, Naruto ran off back home.

Sasuke sighed and walked off as well, not wanting to hang around the overly populated skate park. Thoughts of how humiliating it would be if word got out he was being taught to skate by such a dead last like Naruto ran through his head. But for some reason, he really didn’t mind. He rather liked the spiky haired blonde, not that he’d admit it to himself or anyone else.

‘He is kinda cute though when he gives off that ridiculous grin’ Sasuke mentally awed.

Not too far from there, Naruto sat at the local Ichiraku ramen shop, a block from his home. Thoughts of victory in both the band and skate competition ran through his head as he slurped down his miso ramen.

‘This will be a synch! Sasuke will probably rock in the skate tournament, thanks to my training of course. And me and the guys will definitely win the band contest! Sound has nothing on us!’ Naruto mentally cheered as he finished his ramen.

Giving a wave of thanks, Naruto rushed out of the small ramen shop and back into the busy streets of Konoha. About half way to Naruto’s house, wham! Naruto found himself on the ground for the second time that day. Glaring up at who ever it was. Naruto was greeted by coal black eyes.

“Sasuke?” Naruto asked as he gazed up at the other.

The boy had short raven locks and a pale complection. He wore a black T-shirt and black cargo pants. He did look like a watered down version of Sasuke in Naruto’s eyes, except, Sasuke didn’t smile down at him like that.

“Sorry, no” he said with a soft smile while helping Naruto up. “My name is Sai, cutie.”

Naruto slightly blushed from the comment and grinned back at Sai.

“I’m Uzimaki Naruto!” he said, extending a friendly hand.

“Nice to meet you” Sai replied, shaking Naruto’s hand as they began to talk.

A few minutes later, Naruto found himself at a small café with Sai. Both were talking about school, apparently Sai was a senior at his school, strange how he never noticed. And a few other things. It was about a half an hour before both left and went separate ways.

The next day Naruto seemed quite pleased when he arrived at school, maybe it was the fact it was the first time he’d been early in…ever! As Naruto walked down the practily empty halls of Konoha High.

“Hey, cutie” Naruto turned to see a smiling Sai behind him.

“Ohayo, Sai!” Naruto shouted happily.

Naruto and Sai talked until more kids arrived, including Sasuke. Sasuke arrived at school in a strange mood, tired from thoughts that had plagued him all night. The dreams had been of blonde hair and crystal sapphire eyes. He stifled a yawn as he walked into the building and noticed the same blond from his thoughts, talking to some one else he didn’t know.

“Hey, Sasuke!” Naruto shouted, waving madly from where he stood with Sai.

Sasuke gave a small smirk then walked over to the two, giving Sai a short glance before looking back to Naruto.

“Hey, dobe” Sasuke said in his usual stoic while giving a small glare to Sai who didn’t notice and continued to give a calm smile. “Who’s this?”

“This is Sai! I met him the other day” Naruto replied cheerfully while playfully slinging his left arm around Sai’s shoulders and giving a wide grin.

Sasuke’s glare darkened as he watch his blond friend get so close to the other boy. But Sai seemed oblivious to the glare as he extended a friendly hand towards Sasuke, smile still intact.

“Hello, so you’re Sasuke? Naruto told me a lot about you, I’m quite envious” he smiled calmly while Sasuke reached over to shake the offered hand, just as calmly. “You’re lucky to have Naruto as a friend” the word friend slightly struck Sasuke as he took a minute before nodding in agreement.

The bell finally rang, signaling the beginning class of the day, oh joy. Naruto and Sasuke began on their way towards 1st period, English with Iruka-sensei.

As soon as class started, 3 chiming sounds could be heard at the speakers went on for the morning announcements.

Good morning students, the principle, Tsunade, began. Don’t forget the dance coming up at the end of the week. We hope to see you all there. We will have 2 live bands of our own students and a DJ as entertainment. That is all, enjoy your day.

There was 3 more chimes to signal the end of the announcement and all the girls cheered for the fact there would be a dance. Naruto grinned since him and his band are one of the two live bands for the dance, unfortunately so is the sound group.

And of course Sasuke sunk into his seat, every girl was looking at him like a fudge Sunday, it was obvious each one was planning on how to ask Sasuke to the dance.

After class, Sasuke pretty much avoided being around any girls.

“Naruto!!!” Sakura shouted as she ran up to Naruto.

“Hey, Sakura-chan!” Naruto said enthusiastically as the pink haired girl ran up to him. ‘Maybe she wants to ask me to the dance! Can’t blame her though, I am pretty hot’ Naruto mentally congratulated himself with a small grin from ‘victory’.

“Naruto, have you seen Sasuke-kun? I want to ask him to the dance” Sakura said with a dreamy look, images of the raven haired boy with her at the dance, arm in arm, dancing and having a after dance kiss crossing her mind.

Naruto froze, a heart broken look on his face as the blushing girl in front of him, oblivious of any thoughts of hurting Naruto over the matter, looked up with gleaming eyes.

“Sorry, Sakura-san, I haven’t” Naruto replied in a whisper as the girl gave a small ‘darn’ and left.

Ebony eyes watched the whole scene and sighed softly, looking at the disappointed blond with worry. Naruto sighed and walked off, head drooping as he walked down the halls and towards the front doors. On his way towards the exit, Naruto was stopped by his young red headed friend, Gaara.

“Gaara?” Naruto gave a questioning look at the boy blocking him from the door.

“Naruto I…I was wondering if…” Gaara began in a stutter as he fought with himself to keep eye contact with the blond in front of him.

“Yes?” Naruto ushered Gaara to continue.

“If you’d…like to go to the d..dance!” he shouted the last part with embarrassment as he looked down towards his feet and the ground.

The dark eyes that had been watching earlier from afar widened as he heard the questioned aimed at his blond, I mean the blond. Sasuke slightly growled as he continued to hide behind the sets of lockers lining the halls and listen to the conversation, slightly leaning in with anticipation for the boys answer.

“Go to the dance? You mean like hang out?” Naruto asked, completely clueless on the questions true intentions.

“Actually, I meant like-” Gaara started but didn’t get to finish as Neji jumped out of his own hiding and rushed over to the two boys, all three still oblivious to Sasuke watching the scene from afar.

Gaara and Neji exchanged a small glare before both turning their full attention towards Naruto who looked slightly scared and took a slight step back from the two.

“Naruto, I’d enjoy your company to the da-”
“Naruto!!!” Neji was cut off by Ino rushing down the hall and towards them, taking an unnoticed glance at Sasuke as she passed him at the end of the lockers, and ran up to the blond boy, getting a glare from Gaara and Neji as she halted.

“Ino?” Naruto stuttered a tad confused as to why the blonde haired girl was talking to him.

“Naruto, your taking me to the dance” she said in a cocky tone, taking no notice to the 3 glares aimed to kill her from Sasuke, Neji and Gaara.

“I’m what?” Naruto was completely dumbfounded as Ino clinged to his arm and pushed passed Gaara, dragging Naruto along as she exited the school.

‘Operation: Go out with Naruto and make Sasuke-kun jealous, is under way!’ she thought in glee as she continued to drag the boy along, talking to him about all sorts of stuff.
