Chapter 10

 

Preparations were under way. This would be the biggest announcement since Tsunade was declared Hokage. And they needed it to look god. No point in half-assing it. The villagers assumed it had to do with the Kyuubi no Kitsune, since the event was to take place on the anniversary of his attack. Little did they know that it was for a certain someone's birthday. Preparations were also underway at the Kazama Compound. This was an invitation only party, limited to the select few who earned the right to attend. There was only two days left. Team no Sabaku had arrived today, and were anxious to learn about the announcement. The Rookie 7 and team Gai were working overtime so as to get the day off. They were anxious also.

 

Two days later…

 

He was anxious. He's never been to a real party before. He's been to political functions, of course, but he's never been to a real party. Especially not a birthday party. He is quite interested in finding out if it's as fun as he heard.

He was 5'4”, wore a silver breastplate and silver armored greaves and leggings. The back of his breastplate had a pair of folding wings and small thrusters at the bottom. The leggings had thrusters in the feet and under the thigh shield plates. Cut into the left breast in the armor was a hole from which protruded the largest ruby anyone has ever seen. He wore a long sleeved shirt under his armor that was missing the right arm, revealing his black, Chitinous right arm, which was streaked with glowing aquamarines. On his left hand he wore a black, fingerless glove, revealing his black, clawed fingers, though only one with a trained eye would notice this, others would assume it was a black glove with clawed fingers. He wore a blank mask unlike that of a hunter, and his Hitai-Ite hanged loosely from his neck. It was that of Konoha.

He hid until Tsunade gave the signal. She knew he was here, waiting to be introduced to the village. He already knew the announcement, as it had occurred before. But, this time he will milk it for all it's worth in his own, little way.

He heard the loud speaker come alive, “I have an announcement to make” said Tsunade, “As you all know, today is a special day. Sixteen years ago to this day the Kyuubi was defeated. This is normally a day of mourning. But today is a day of celebration. Yondaime Arashi Kazama, the 4th Hokage, had wanted on the sixteenth anniversary for the Hokage to reveal a truth to the village. He wished for us to announce his heir, his son”

Everyone gasped. That was the signal he had waited for. He began channeling Chakra to his armor to unfold the wings and activate the thrusters, and he took off flying. He zoomed over the crowd and landed on the platform next to Tsunade.

“I would like to thank you Tsunade,” he said in a familiar voice, “you have found that which was lost”. He then removed his mask. Everyone was startled. The left side of his face was black with red whisker marks and his left eye was red. The hair on the left side of his head was grey and he had an elfin ear.

“Welcome home, Naruto Uzumaki Kazama” said Tsunade.

 

Later, at the invitation only party…

 

“Did you see the looks on their faces? That was the best prank ever!” said Naruto

“Well it wasn't meant to be, but after how they treated you, they deserved it” said Tsunade.

“You mean, you lied Lady Tsunade?” asked Sakura

“No, Naruto really is Arashi's son. The reason it was a prank is that it proved that they didn't care about the 4th's wishes, despite the fact that he gave up his life for them. I doubt he would have stopped the Kyuubi if he had known how they would treat his son. He left specific orders that Naruto was to be treated as a hero”

“Why is that?”

“I'm sorry, but that will wait until his eighteenth birthday”

“Oh…”

“Don't worry, it's nothing bad. Anyways, how have you been Naruto?” Tsunade asked

“I've been ok. I can't really talk about anything for security reasons, but the Chikage and his extended family are… eccentric, to say the least” replied Naruto

“You mean they are all nutcases?” Tsunade asked

“Well, the Chikage may be a nutcase, but the rest are just eccentric”

“You mean he is a nutcase? I was just joking… So how crazy is he?”

“Random mood swings, bipolar disorder, for half-an hour his brain literally turned into a turnip. His insanity is punctuated by the problems he has with corporeal form. He randomly teleports and shape-change's, in addition to being mentally unsound. I saw him change into a milkman mid-sentence, asked me if I wanted some milk, and then returned to normal back where he left off in the sentence. It really freaked me out because he looks like a child molester in a milkman's outfit. I tried to avoid him after that so that I didn't see anything worse. In addition to all that, he is a sadist”

“A sadist? Do you know why?”

“Well, he told me it was because it is the only thing aside from drowning himself in minutia that keeps him from a mental breakdown. He has no interest in gambling, his metabolism negates the effects of drugs and alcohol, and since he's immune to pain he can't be a masochist. So that just leaves sadism”

“Oh, how sad”

“I know, but at least he directs his sadism against those who deserve it”

“Well, that works. Enough of this depressing subject, this is a party, so let's celebrate!”

“Yeah, so when are the guests arriving?”
“Anytime now. To tell you the truth, Hinata and Temari were the only ones expecting you. Hinata was the only one of your friends who knew when your birthday was, and Temari actually thought of asking her, unlike the others”

“I'm not surprised; she's always had an interest in me. If only I wasn't a freak…”

“Don't give me that. Her and Temari both care about you. They didn't even care about your appearance when they brought you in three years ago. Hell, Sakura and Haku didn't much care either. None of your friends did. They care about you for you; they don't see you as a monster. Oh, here comes Hiashi and his daughters”

At that Hiashi, Hinata, and Hanabi walked in.

“I see that the rumors of your demise have been exaggerated” said Hiashi

“Well, I haven't heard any of them, so it doesn't bother me. Welcome Hiashi, Hinata, Hanabi”

At this Hiashi tilted his head, Hinata bowed, and Hanabi went “Ne”.

“Now, now Hanabi. Naruto-san is the son of the 4th Hokage and deserves respect”

“But he's not even human” said the young girl.

“Naruto-kun is more human than any of us. He puts up with people with your attitude. He even protects them, despite how they treat him” said Hinata, who looked angry.

“That doesn't make him…”

“Enough Hanabi. I see that you lack humility. Just because he does not appear human means nothing. He was born human. He was raised human, barely though the case may be. And he has acted more human than humans have. He accepts people for who they are, he doesn't try to change people, and he even accepts the fear of others towards him. If that doesn't make him human, then neither is any of us” said Hiashi

“How can you say that? Just look at him”

And look they did. Naruto had discarded his armor and now stood in silver pants and his single-sleeve shirt. There was a hole in the left breast and a large ruby protruded from it.

“All I see is a boy who was lucky enough to find people willing to help him. It's not his fault that he lost his arms and half his face. You can blame that on Orochimaru. Now, if all you're going to do is insult Naruto-san then you can leave” he said

“Fine then. Why would I want to be at a party for a monst…” she started to say when Hinata smacked her. “Father said not to insult Naruto-Kun. Now leave!” she yelled.

“How dare you! I am not some loser that can't defend herself!” Hanabi said as she assumed her Jyuuken stance.

“This is supposed to be a party. If you don't leave then I will let Hinata thrash you” said Naruto

“You can't tell me what to do, freak” said Hanabi

“Well Hinata, she made her choice. Since it is my party, I give you permission to chastise your sister for failing to follow Hyuuga clan protocol”

“What does a monster know of Hyuuga Protocol?”

“My sensei told me of the Hyuuga's, since he served them for a time. In fact, he said that YOU should have the Caged-Bird Seal. You insult your mother by being a typical foolish Hyuuga”

“What do you know of my mother!?”

“I know that my sensei said she was the flower of the Hyuuga's and sacrificed herself so that her youngest daughter would be spared the fate of all secondary children. It was her sacrifice that made the Caged-Bird Seal so unpopular. I am tired of speaking to you. You insult me in my own home, defy your clan's wishes, and you dare to fight at a celebration. If anyone here wasn't human, it is you!” he yelled.

“You will die monster!” she yelled as she charged him

When she came close enough he poked her in the forehead and sidestepped. She then toppled over and landed on the floor.

“You forget your training, Hanabi. All Hyuuga's are told about Tien Hsueh, and how it can disable an opponent more thoroughly than Jyuuken, since it does not rely upon the Byaakugan to make up for your inability to remember the bodies pressure points. Thanks to my training in human anatomy, I don't even need to hit your pressure or tenketsu points to disable you. With a small amount of chakra focused at a single point, such as the part of your brain that controls motor functions, I can disable you” he turned to Hiashi “Have one of your servants take her home. She should regain control of her body in a few hours”

“As you wish, Naruto-san” Hiashi said as he bowed.

“Thank you for standing up for me Hinata-Chan. No one has done that for sometime” he said

“Th-thank you, Naruto-kun” she said as she blushed.

After that incident the rest of the guests started to arrive. Once they were all Present and accounted for, Naruto attracted their attention. “So good of you all to join me. I'm sure you are wondering why we have gathered in this hall. To tell you the truth, I was giving the caterers as much time as possible to prepare. As soon as they are ready we shall pass into the party area” Their were a few grumbles, mostly troublesome and hungry. A few minutes later someone walked in through the door behind Naruto. He was of average build but had red hair, blue eyes, and was dressed in traditional wear for a Samurai outside of his armor. He carried a Japanese style umbrella in his right hand while strapped to his back was a Katana with a large green orb attached to the hilt.

“Ah, Shizumaru, are the preparations ready?” asked Naruto

“Yes they are. You may bring them in. But be warned: The ladies will not appreciate any funny business from the puppeteer or the dog boy. Especially not Sonya or Apache” replied Shizumaru

“Ok then” Naruto then yelled “Attention please: I have just been informed that the party area is ready. If you would follow me” he then opened the door behind him and went on through.

It was a feast; Plain and simple. Their were many dishes of various design (I do not know much about Japanese cuisine, let alone what they would serve at a party such as this), and their was plenty of it. There were also a few people there, maintaining the banquet.

“Ah, please enjoy yourselves, but please don't harass the help” said Naruto
“Hmm… how did you afford this banquet, Naruto-San?” asked Hiashi

“Yes, please do tell” said Temari who walked up.

“Well… The Chikage kind-of lent me his first wife's cooking skills as a birthday present. The other caterers' sort-of had time off, so they volunteered to cater for me, as long as I kept the party small. That's kind-of why I only invited a small number of people. I wanted to show generosity, but I couldn't invite too many people, so I limited myself to those who have shown me respect. That does cut down most of the clans, but we still have a healthy cross-section here, with the Hyuuga, Aburame, Nara, Akimichi, Yamanaka, and Inuzaka. And we have international politics involved with the invitation of the Kazekage Gaara and his brother and you Temari. Now if you'll excuse me, I must keep an eye out on Kiba and Kankuro. I'd rather they not hit on any of the caterer's, since only one of them may be interested, but her husband is a stickler about who gets to join him and his wife in their home, so they will probably get knocked around for causing trouble. Uh oh! Kiba is heading straight for disaster. That girl he's walking towards is a serious no-no. I better stop him before he annoys her and she sucks out his soul” he said as he headed to intercept Kiba, who was heading towards a woman with glittering blue-black hair. “Hey, Kiba!” he yelled

“Yo, Naruto. Is that girl free?” Kiba asked, while pointing at the girl he was headed towards.

“She isn't in a relationship, though it is a bad idea”

“Why?”

“Well… considering that the last time some one hit on her got crushed into a 3-inch diameter ball, I think you are better off leaving her alone”

“What!? You're joking right? Why would a caterer have that kind of power?”

“Because she normally doesn't cater. Only the chef does. The rest volunteered since it was my birthday and they all find me cute. All of them are quite powerful and have taken on entire squads of hunter ninja without a single scratch. Hell, the girl you were headed towards is notorious for slaughtering entire armies with a single attack. It makes sense since her title in Chigakure is `The Goddess of Time and Space', so it is relatively easy to generate a single, massive attack that slaughters an entire army”

“Whoa, that must be some powerful jutsu”

“You have no idea. Now if you excuse me, I must inform that Hentai Kankuro that the women are off-limits” he then headed towards Kankuro. “Yo, Kankuro”

“Yo, Naruto. You think you could introduce me to some of these women. They are hot!” said Kankuro

“No can do. The only one of the female caterers who isn't married I just warned Kiba to stay away from. She has no interest in a casual liaison, only in a more permanent relationship. And the only one to spark her interest was already married, so she isn't really interested in a relationship right now. You pretty much aren't going to get laid here, Kankuro”

“Damnit, I was hoping to get some action, I really don't like going to a party if I don't benefit”

“I figured as much. You could just sit back and relax. That's all there really is to do aside from eating. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going back to my original enclave” he said as he walked back to Hiashi and Hinata, who were having a conversation with Temari. “Sorry about that, I just didn't want their to be any fatalit… GET BACK!” he yelled as a blue lightning bolt nearly hit them. The bolt of lightning began arcing across the ground trying to get Naruto, each arc becoming weaker and weaker. “What the fuck!?” he said.

Everyone was racing. They had no idea what was going on, except the caterers.

“Stasis Field!” yelled the girl with glittering blue-black hair. A shimmering barrier surrounded Naruto as another Bolt of lightning came crashing down, arcing across the barrier. “Damnit! Sasami! Get Grandfather here right away!”

“Right!” said a small girl with blue hair and red eyes. She then disappeared.

“What's going on?” asked Temari

“I think someone just killed Naruto. The only time I see that kind of lightning was when I'm in a Chronal flux. The only time it manifests out here is when you travel back in time to kill someone and then the lightning eliminates the future selves. Based on the temporal signature of the bolts, it appears that his five year-old self was killed. This is bad. Only a member of my family and a high-ranking void ninja has the knowledge and know-how to perform such a deed. But this makes no sense. My family adores him, and the void ninja have no grudge against him”

Just then, the little girl reappeared with a tall man that no one had seen since he took Naruto away.

“There is no ley-line network on this world, so I'm guessing it was temporal lightning, Cosmos?” he asked

“Yes grandfather. Based on it's signature it was from eleven years ago. I am unsure of what to do”
“I will handle this. I guess he is going to get to travel time, again” he said as he grabbed Naruto. Then everything stopped and dissolved.

 

 

Yeah, right… Well, I guess our little buddy is going to go time-surfing again. If you are wondering, I am utilizing multiple variations of time travel. The Chikage and his extended family are ancient dimensional travelers and have experienced many things. They can more thoroughly travel through time so they can actually go back in time, instead of going to an alternate timeline like the Dark Heart did with Naruto.
