Chapter 2-About Sasuke

The sky was cloudy the next morning. Hinata woke up, refreshed and ready to go.

Today was the day,

she told herself.

Today was the day she asked Naruto out.

She put on one of her dressy outfits-a lime green T-shirt and blue jeans. She Lightly applied makeup to her face, then tied her hair up.

She headed out her door, vaguely wondering what would happen if he said yes, or worse, if he said no. Hinata figured that she would get over it, get over him, and move on with her life. If he said yes, her wildest dreams would come true.

She decided to look for the blonde at Ichiraku first. The shop owner said that Naruto had sopped in, then said he was going training in training area 543-AZ. She thanked the owner, then bought a container of ramen to go. She went to the area the man had specified, and Naruto was there, prcatising throwing kunais.

"N-N-Naruto-kun!" Hinata called out. Naruto looked around to find the source of the voice. Seeing Hinata he responded,

"Hinata! What's up?" Hinata looked away, and in a quiet voice she said:

"N-N-Naruto, can we talk?"

"Sure. Just hang on a sec." He retrieved the kunais he was practising with, then ran back up to Hinata. They then sat down and Hinata began.

"N-N-Naruto, you remember what you told me yesterday? A-A-about telling the person I like about how I feel?" Hinata was getting really nervous.

"Yeah, what about it?"Naruto loked confused.

"Well, I've been thinking, and you're right. I should tell--that person how I feel."

"That's cool, but why are you telling me this? You should tell them." The blonde haired boy seemed totally clueless.

However, it was these words that finally gave courage to Hinata, so that she could say what she had wanted to say for years. She began slowly, gaining courage as she went on.

"N-N-Naruto, you're right, so here goes.I-I've been watching you for years, never saying anything. I've always admired your confidence, your exuberance...theway you treat people around you. I have always wanted to tell you something, but everytime you got near me, I got really shy."

"H-H-Hinata! What are trying to say?" Naruto seemed shocked. Hinata had never said this much at one time to him, let alone WHAT she was saying.

"What I'm trying to say is...I-I-I love you! I have loved you ever since we were academy students!"

"H-H-Hinata! L-L-love? I-I don't know what to say!" he opened his mouth to continue, but Hinata interrupted him.

"You probably hate me now, but I thought I needed to tell you. Otherwise, I-I- I gotta go!" And she took off.

"Hinata! Wait!" Narut called after her. He soon caught up with the black haired chunin. When he caught her, he hugged her tight.

"N-Naruto!" hinata gasped.

"Hinata, I could never hate you! It's just...I was surprised! But...I don't know if I'll ever be able to share your feelings...because of..." His voice trailed off.

"This is about Sasuke, isn't it."It wasn't a question.

"...Yeah...I'm so sorry Hinata," Naruto replied glumly.

"I understand Naruto...I would never want to come between you and the man you love."

"Hinata!...Thank you," and he hugged her again.

"Maybe...in the future," Hinata said as she returned the hug.

"Yeah, I'd like that."Naruto smiled. They kept hugging each other, just holding each other tight, for what seemed like an eternity. When they broke apart, Naruto brushed away the tears that were rolling down Hinata's face. Hinata gasped at the touch, then smiled, for the first time since she had woken up...
