The next day, Hinata was in the record room, researching Amegakure (the village hidden rain) for a B-rank mission she was going to perform, one that would require her walking through the area. No matter how much she tried to concentrate, however, the image of a certain blonde-haired boy kept coming back to her. The way he had talked to her had made her feel happier than she had ever felt, and she thought she would be able to just ride the happiness for at least the day. A voice, however, jerked her out of her happiness. A voice that Hinata would never hear again...

"Oi!You there, Hinata!" It was the voice of Konoha's most recent missing-nin.It was the voice...of Uchiha Sasuke.

"Did you hear me wench? I said, get over here!" Hinata was terrified. Slowly she stuttered out,

"W-W-Where are you Sas-"

Her words were cut short by the voice that said, "Shhhhh!Don't say my name I'm over in the records of Takigakure (the village hidden behind the waterfall). Walk over here, and do it quietly.

"O-o-okay." Slowly, she walked to the specified section, barely breathing. Before going into the aisle, she activated her Byakugan. Seeing only Sasuke, she stepped into the hallway, keeping her Byakugan activated. Standing in the hallway, leaning with his back against the shelves, was Uchiha Sasuke. Hinata could tell that he was taller now, because even though he was leaning against the shelves, she could see that he was about 3 inces talller than her. He was wearing a beige top, with the collar a v-neck, that stretched down, almost to his waist. He wore black pants held up by a purple rope tied around his waist. The only things that hadn't changed, Hinata noticed, was his hairstyle and the cursed seal of heaven on his neck. She was cut out of her observations by Sasuke's voice.

"Hinata, I'm going to make this quick. I know that you claim to love Naruto. I've been watching him for a while now. I saw you two talk."

Hinata nodded, confused as to what he was talking about.

"Let me make this simple, Hinata. Naruto is to good for you, so stay away from him."

Hinata snorted. "Too good for me?" she asked, with a confidence that she hadn't had since she had stared down Neji in the chuunin exams 3 years previously.

"Too good for ME?" she repeated, "Who then, may I ask, IS good enough for him?"

Sasuke looked at her as if she were stupid. "Me!" he said

Hinata swallowed. "Do you want to know what he said when I told him my feelings? He told me he still loved you. I told him that I would never come between you two. But do you want to know something? I think you're wrong about being good enough for him."

Sasuke's fists were starting to clench. Hinata ignored this and continued.

"You left the village Sasuke. You left him heart-broken, without so much as a goodbye. All you care about is killing your brother, and you're too occupied with him to see that you're a stuck-up, aloof, uncaring son of a b-"

"Enough! One more word and I'll kill you. You have no idea what I've gone through! How dare you preach to me!"

"Sasuke, do you know what I think? If you have feelings for Naruto, I'm not the one you should be telling. Talk to Naruto. Now, if you don't mind, I'm researching a mission."

"Tell noone what happened."

"Fine." Hinata turned to leave, and as she did, she saw a streak of orange and black run out the door. She turned to look at Sasuke, but he had vanished. Hinata was worried. Naruto had seen her with Sasuke. Who knows how much he had heard? She sat down at her seat again, but knew that there wasn't going to be any more research done...
