Beneath The Mists

“Is she breathing?”
“Hai, she's alive but barely”
“What are we going to do?”
“Don't tell me we're leaving her!”
“We can't do that! She'll die”
“Father, what do we do?”
The voices faded. It was getting darker. Time to go. Hinata thought to herself. I can finally be free. She saw a light slowly growing from the darkness. This is it.
Suddenly a shocking green light filled her vision. A shrill of electricity in her body. She could hear a commotion. Could it be that they saved me? Why? She opened her eyes.
“She's opening her eyes” a young male voice said
“Father, her eyes are so unusual.” A female voice added.
Hinata could see three figures but none clear enough to be recognized. One things for sure, they were not Team Kurenai.
“She'll be alive. Hmph, don't look now, we've got company” a stern older voice said.
Hinata felt a gush of wind as the figures jumped up to meet their `company'. Trying to sit up, she felt a sharp pain down her neck, she dismissed it and looked towards the commotion.
There was a fight going on. A man in his early twenties, a boy and girl about her age were standing in a sparrow formation facing ten men. They were wearing rugged clothes, all the men had weapons and they looked angry.
“ Hand us our catch Shinju! We found her first.” That one seemed like the leader by the position of his stand. His eyes shifted to hers. Their pupils were red. Hinata too shocked to look away, only stared back. His eyes were terrifying, full of intent to kill.
“Nahh, I think we'll keep her. You'll just eat her anyway. Such a waste then wouldn't it be?” the older man said. His tone was rather disturbing.
It took a moment to realize that they were talking about her. She shivered, still held by the gaze of the brute leader. He released her. Hinata quickly looked at the older man. He was smirking.
“Shut up bastards! We want her. And we'll have her.” He motioned his finger and two men from left and right launched towards the three. About to shoot up in reflex, she yelped at the pain caused by her attempt. The two younger ones looked back at that moment then turned back to their enemies.
“Father, let me try!” the boy yelled.
He did some seals then looked up.
“Shinju Kin no Jutsu” he yelled. Suddenly the sky, was turning yellow. The clouds were moving faster in a circling motion right above the boy's head. His right hand was lifted above his head. The attackers were running in full speed towards him ready to knife him into pieces.
He motion his hand like pulling something from the air and suddenly a pillar of golden cloud rained down on the four attackers, and sent them flying back knocking into some of their comrades.
“Not enough eh?” the boy said smirking evilly.
He lifted both his hands and pulled down another larger pillar of golden cloud. This one finished the job and sent all ten of them flying into the gushing river only to be swiped away.
The girl yelled and jumped in excitement. Then later went over to the boy to smack him in the head.
“Show off” she commented.
The boy laughed and turned his gaze towards Hinata.
The older man was suddenly at her side. She looked up.
“That's Tamiko, always showing off. How's your head?” he asked. He looked younger up close.
Still too baffled to say anything she just smiled weakly and nodded.
“Hello, how are you feeling? I'm Kin. What's your name?” The girl skipped towards her and sat beside her on the ground.
“I-I'm H-Hinata.” She blushed looking away, embarrassed by her stammering.
“Ma, it's confirmed then, she's alive.” The older man was probably their father, concerning how they called him. But isn't he too young? Hinata thought they were a strange crowd.
“I'm Yuu and in case you were wondering, I'm not their father.” He rubbed his nails on his collar.
“I'm just too good looking” he said examining his nails.
Both Tamiko and Kin yelled insults and jumped on him. They struggled for awhile then when calmed down, Yuu spoke.
“Hinata-san can you walk on your own?”
“I-I'm not sure” Hinata tried to get up then yelped in pain holding her waist. She didn't realized before, her whole body was covered with scratches and ached terribly.
“Ah, like I expected” Yuu said.
With a swift movement he now carried her on his back.
“Ma, guess it'll be like this then. Let's move out team”
“Hai” Both chorused and the team leaped off heading towards who knows where.
“A-ano, where are we going?” Hinata tried not to let her stammering get in the way. No one answered for a moment. Maybe I was too soft. Hinata thought to herself.
Kin broke the silence. “To the caravan. That's where most of us from the Shinju family live now.”
“We travel a lot.” Tamiko added in a matter-of-fact tone.
“Hinata, where are you from?” Yuu asked.
“Konoha” came the soft reply.
All three heads turned towards her. A Konoha shinobi eh? This is intresting. Kin thought.
“What happened? Were you on a mission?” Tamiko asked enthusiastically. Hinata simply nodded.
“Are they looking for you?” Yuu asked.
“No.” stern yet sadly Hinata replied.
Three heads turned her way again. She sounds so sad. I wonder what happened. Kin thought.
“Will you be going back?” Kin asked.
After a silence that seem like forever.
“Will you teach me and be my sensei?” Hinata said without stammering a single word.
At that moment Yuu stopped moving and look back at her. He saw into her eyes. They were eyes that knew pain and rejection. Why would a famous Hyuuga from Konoha want to be under another family's training?. Something must have happened. But she has potential, and maybe just maybe… He let his thoughts hang in his mind. He nodded. Her reply was a small smile.
And that's just the beginning. And the creation of a new Hinata began.

Author's note

I had my inspiration from another fanfic author. I try not to make it sound like copying her/him but to tell you the truth I thought of this story even before I read his/hers.
Do review, I really want to know what you think about this story. Thanks.
I do not own Naruto.
