The Secret of the ex Heiress Revealed
------------------------------------------------------

“Tsunade sama, you called for me?” Yuu said as he entered the Godaime's office. To his surprised, Kakashi, Neji and Kurenai were in the room too. Yuu wasn't on good terms with the `one-eyed-stuck-up' as he put it. He glanced towards Kakashi who was busy reading that perverted book. Selfish. Yuu complained in his mind.
His eyes lifted as he saw Kurenai and Neji.

“Yuu, there's something I want you to clear the air about.” Tsunade said in her normal, `Hokage' tone.
“Fine with me, Tsunade sama. But why are they here?” Yuu asked while eyeing the silver haired guy by the window. Neji only looked up from his book to grin sheepishly at him. Obviously not holding any grudges, he probably couldn't even remember what happened.
“They have the right to know. Besides I called them here.” Tsunade said while closing her eyes.
Yuu leaned on her table and folded his hands. She's so bossy.
“Where do I start?” Yuu asked.
“From the beginning”

“Huh, my name is Yuu. ANBU code name, Jun. In Konoha, I'm Daita Yuu. In the field, I'm known as Shinju Yuu. I'm 21 years old at jounin rank. My current mission starting five years ago by ANBU is to be the correspondent at a Cloud Clan called Shinju.” Yuu finished.
“Tell us about Hinata.” Kurenai interrupted.
“Hyuuga Hinata. Found her unconscious three years ago floating in the river. I was training my subordinates, Shinju Kin and Shinju Tamiko that's when Kin spotted Hinata in the water. The Shinju clan were traveling past the Konoha borders, Kin treated her temporarily. When asked about home, Hinata simply said nothing. She later asked me to train her. She told us her family didn't want her.” Yuu paused.
“Of course I knew, that was a lie. I knew she was Hyuuga since the moment she opened her eyes. I didn't know the details on her history but the clan needed her at that time.” Yuu stopped.
“What do you mean?” Kurenai asked.
“The clan had always been threatened by a cursed spirit since centuries ago. The curse was the cause of them being nomads. Every land the Shinju set foot on would be destroyed, either by natural disaster or whatever convenient method. The White Phoenix never forgives.”
Both Kurenai and Neji shot up Kakashi only looked up from his book.
“Are you saying that...?” Kurenai mumbled.
Yuu nodded.
“Only another body without Shinju blood can contain the Phoenix. The seal on her right hand proves this.”
“Yuu, you are not Shinju too, why didn't you host it?” Neji asked.
“In order to gain their trust and be accepted by my adopted family, I took a blood oath the moment I took up the name Shinju. The White would kill me if I try to host her.” Yuu said.

“How strong is this seal? Will it break out?” Kurenai asked.
“Like all seals, its powers are basically suppressed. Hinata learned to control it a long time ago. She's really talented and strong willed.” Yuu said.
“How so you explain Hinata's new `character' for all we know, she was a completely different person.” Neji asked. He didn't really like the idea of his cousin being a host for a murderous phoenix.
“Hmph? What character? She was like that the moment we met her.” Yuu recalled.

Flashback
---------------

“Hinata! You can do it!” Kin yelled as Hinata stared up to her opponent. He was huge, looking at her with evil eyes.
“Kick his ass!” Tamiko yelled.
They were in one of the illegal arenas in Hidden Mist. Their main purpose was to bring in the supplies, but got sidetracked as they passed by a very interesting signboard.

~All are welcome! Defeat the Giant Kanariku and win cash~

It was Hinata's idea to go in to check it out. The prize money was quite a large sum, the Shinju could definitely use it. Hinata needed to repay her debt so she took up the challenge. At that time, she was still Hinata.

“What's the matter little girl? Afraid? Come here and let Kanariku teach you a lesson.” The big ugly pranced towards her with a huge grin across his face.
This is my only chance. I can do it. Her eyes lit up, she activated her Byakugan and took on Kanariku.

He was strong and big, but Hinata was faster and more mobile. She easily dodged his attacks. However, she didn't miss all of them completely, but she manages to finish him of with Hakke Rokujuyon Sho (Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms) with minor injuries. Her team was even more excited over her victory than Hinata herself.

“Wow! That was great, Hinata san!” Kin was jumping around. From that day on, the grey in her eyes became brighter and stronger.
“I wish you were here to see this Naruto kun”. Hinata silently whispered pointing her fingers together.

End of Flashback
----------------------
“Come to think of it, Hinata did use to be a little quite and always motioned her fingers like this.” Yuu demonstrated Hinata's trademark habit.
“Did she always do that when she was still in Konoha?” Yuu asked Kurenai.

“Hinata sama, was shy, gentle, polite and submissive. The change in her was too obvious. She defied Hiashi on the day she returned.” Neji said.
Kakashi, Kurenai and Tsunade shot back.
This is unheard of. Did she really change this much? Tsunade thought. For all she knew, Hyuuga Hiashi could be one of the coldest people in Konoha.

“I wonder how her next battle's going to turn out. She was really impressive in the past two days.” Kurenai commented.
“You haven't seen her `impress' yet. Yuu, you should be careful.” Kakashi stated recalling the first time he met her since her return at the memorial.
She was even faster than my Sharingan. The Phoenix's powers are really something to fear. Kakashi thought as Tsunade dismissed them.

“Hinata, you shouldn't get up. Your wound is still loose.” Sakura said. She was the medic in charge of Hinata. She saw the scar behind her back. A huge gash from the right shoulder to the left waist. The scar was old.
“Arigato, Sakura” Hinata's voice was emotionless.
“Hinata, where did you get that scar?” Sakura asked while helping her friend sit up.
There was a long silence as Hinata's mind was filled with past memories.
“I got it at the waterfall.”
Sakura was well aware of what had happened. Tsunade never made it a secret unlike what Sandaime did for Naruto. Godaime never saw the benefit of keeping it a secret.
By night fall, the entire Konoha would probably know about the ex heiress's secret. Of course a more refined version of the story was told. At least she could be herself and not worry when someone asks her name.

“Hinata” Sakura broke her thought of thoughts.
“Hmph?” Hinata's voice was soft.
“I think you're really strong to do something like that. I would never be brave enough to even consider it.” Sakura smiled.
“I needed a change. Desperation sometimes makes you do the craziest things. I'm glad I did it.” Hinata replied.
“Hinata, you should know this. I don't know if I'm suppose to tell you this, but..” Sakura hesitated. Hinata nodded.
“For a few months team Kurenai didn't succeed in any mission. Kiba was injured on several occasion and even fought with Shino over small matters. Only recently did he recover, last year I think.” Sakura paused hearing someone entering the door. Hinata looked at the tall figure standing at the entrance. His hair was red, teary eyes looking at her.
“Kiba” Hinata whispered.
“Hinata” Kiba said as he crossed over the wad to give her a bear hug.
“I missed you so much.” Kiba sobbed into her shoulder
“Where were you? I didn't see you when I arrived in Konoha.” Hinata asked. Kiba released her from his hug. His freely allowed his tears to soak his cheeks.
Hinata reached out to dry them.
“I was on a mission. I saw you fight today. You were great.” Kiba smiled.
“No, not really. Shino became ANBU. I never would have guessed and look at you, you look great. So how many helpless girls have you saved so far?” Hinata laughed.
Kiba's smile dropped.
“Hinata's you've changed.” He whispered.
“Everyone changes. Kiba kun.” Hinata was still smiling.
“You don't blush, or stammer anymore. I'm not really sure you're the Hinata I know.” Kiba's honesty was surprising.
Sakura felt like she was interrupting so she stood up to take her leave.
“Sakura san, arigato.” Hinata called out.
“You're welcome, Hinata.” The door closed.
After the door was shut, a long period of silence stretched.
“I'm happy now, Kiba kun. You should be happy for me too. No one has to protect me anymore, I won't be in the way anymore.” Hinata voice was happy.
Kiba smiled, and hugged her again briefly then released her.
“So what have you been doing lately?” Kiba asked.

They chatted throughout the night.
