One Lear Later, One Week Before Chunin Exams: Hokage's Office

 

Tsunade was sitting at her desk thinking of Naruto. To all appearances she was asleep. `I hope he's doing all right, if I ever find that red head…' just then Sakura burst in. “Tsunade-sama!” she stops and sees the Hokage's annoyed expression. “Sumimasen, but we found a foreign nin that fits the description of the one seen last year when Naruto disappeared.” Tsunade “Where!? Bring him to me!” Sakura “Hai Tsunade-sama.” She disappears in a puff of smoke. “I have a lot of questions for you red-head.”

 

In River One KM North of Konoha

 

Kit is standing in the middle of the Kohaku River. He knew that a few minuets before Sakura had been there and had gone to tell the Hokage. Since he left one year ago his senses had sharpened even more and he could now accurately tell distances just by smell. He had re-learned many of his Justus as well as learn some new ones. One month ago he had been in the Hidden Alchemists Village where he had learned and perfected the art of transmutation. His teacher had been a short, well he was just as tall as Kit, blond man, with a plated ponytail going halfway down his back. What was really strange is that his right arm and left leg had been mechanical. Than and his brother was a suit of armor. He had been told that it was because they had tried Human Transmutation and was also told never to try it. Transmutation had been a simple trick because of his immense chakra, but it had taken him two weeks to use relatively little chakra to do it. Before he was wasting a lot.

 

Kit sighs. He smelled Sakura and Kakashi coming toward him. He had better get out and dressed before they got there. He jumps out and lands on the far side of the river. `I'll give them something to think about' “Fox Skill - Shape Shift No Jutsu!” his hair color begins to change to blond, and everything else changes to leave Naruto standing there. Lying on the bank is a long dark cloak, shaded goggles to hide his eyes, and a pitch black Hitai-ate. Six months ago he had stumbled across the Village Hidden in the Shadows. It had taken a while to get them to trust him, and when he did they made him a temporary shadow-nin. Their hitai-ate were black as a new moon's night and reflected no light. There was no symbol engraved on it like the other hidden villages, the color was what separated them. He quickly put on his cloak and goggles and tied the forehead protector above it. The cloak kept people from accidentally touching one of his tails; even if people couldn't see them they could still feel them.

 

The moment he finished putting everything in place, Kakashi and Sakura landed on the bank next to him. Kakashi, surprised “Naruto?” then he looked at his headband with slight confusion, he had never seen or herd of one like it. Kakashi “Naruto is that you, where is the other guy that was here?” Kit acted like he did not hear him. He was thinking `I know I smelled a team coming when I left, is it possible that they saw me?' Kakashi repeated himself. This time he was listening. “What other guy. Its just me.”Kakashi “where have you been, and what's up with that hitai-ate?” Naruto “I'll tell you all later. Rite now I'm hungry.” Kakashi “The Hokage would like to see you again. We've missed you.” Naruto was surprised at this; he had thought no one would care. “You did?” Kakashi “Yes we did. Come on, lets get you fed then we'll take you to the Hokage.” The whole time Sakura was just staring at Naruto. He had not aged a day since she last saw him, but something was different. She couldn't tell what it was. Then she noticed the goggles “Why is he hiding his eyes? Naruto never wore them over his eyes.' Kakashi “Come on Sakura.”

 

Ichiraku

 

Kakashi and the owner watched in amazement at the amount of food the blond put away. He had already eaten forty bowls of beef ramen and was on his was through another one. Both of them `Naruto, even though he had been the biggest ramen fan in the would had never eaten this much before. Is it even humanly possible to eat that much?' Naruto wipes his mouth “Gochisosamadeshita!” he then pulls out an enormous wad of bills out of his pocket and puts it on the counter. “That was the best ramen I've even had! Keep the change.” Kakashi and the owner's eyes bulge, well Kakashi's eye, that was enough money to buy out Ichiraku for a month! How could anyone be rich enough to just give away money like that? The owner almost fainted and then said “You can eat here free for two months.” The shadow-nin jumps out of his seat and almost hugs the man. “Arigatoo.” Kakashi then leads Naruto to the Hokage's office.

 

Hokage's Office

 

Kakashi and Sakura walk into Hokage's office followed by the shadow-nin. Sakura “The red-head we saw before wasn't there, but Naruto was!” Tsunade jumps up and runs to Naruto, hugging him. “Hey Baa-chan.” Tsunade punches him. When she did, no one noticed that his hair gained a red tint then whent back to “normal.”Tsunade “You two can leave.” Kakashi and Sakura leave the room but stand just outside the door, ready to rush in if she needs help. “Where have you been? We searched for you for two weeks, and asked wherever we went about you but no one had seen you.” Naruto “That's because I didn't look like this. This isn't how I really look anymore. I joined the Hidden Shadow Village about one year ago after I fought Sasuke. Actually, they found me and healed me before training me. That reminds me, the Kage requested that I be transferred back to the Leaf.” He pulls out a sealed envelope and hands it over to the Hokage. She opens it and reads it. “Very well. You will be placed on Team 10 with Yamanaka Ino and Akamichi Choji, as you know their teammate Nara Shikamaru is already a Chunin. You will meet them tomorrow at training ground 10. Do you still have your Leaf head band?” Naruto reaches into one of his many pockets and takes it out. “Good. You kept it, that proves that you are still loyal to the leaf. Wait you said that this isn't what you really look like anymore. Then what do you really look like.” Naruto “Kage Bunshin no Jutsu” two clones stand next to him. “that was kind of a lie. I have three forms, all of them me.” He releases the Shape Shift “This one is just more comfortable.” One of the clones stays as Naruto while the other turns into Kyuubi. Naruto points to the fox “That is my third form.” Tsunade sits down heavily in her chair. “What happened?” Naruto “After Sasuke nearly killed me I had no choice. It was either this or die. Now as for what happened. Kyuubi is gone, and so is the old Naruto. I am both of them. You can still call me Naruto or Kyuubi, but my name is Kit.” Tsunade shakes her head “You will report back after practice tomorrow. Until then stay in the Naruto form, you were seen last year and people think that you did something to, umm… yourself. I will have accommodations set up until you can find a place to stay. You may leave, I need to think about this.” Kit “That won't be necessary, I don't sleep inside much. I'll just stay on training ground 10.” He turns and is outside and down the road before Tsunade could even blink.

 

She re-reads the letter. She notices something at the bottom “He showed up one year ago, a few days after a shockwave hit our village. He was wearing a Leaf Hitai-ate, but he couldn't use his chakra at all. He said that at one time he knew how but he forgot. As we both know once you can use your chakra it is impossible to forget how. We were forced to believe him after we trained him how to use his chakra. He knew many jutsus, and even one that was forbidden. At first all he could do was low-level jutsus but as his control increased he started doing higher level ones. But we never taught him any. His reserves seem endless; he trained for five days without stop. After this we saw what potential he had. We made him a shadow-nin, even though he said he could not stay. We taught him all of our techniques, and I personally trained him. He told us about the Chunin Exam that was going to take place in Konoha and asked if he could be transferred to you. We were sad to see him go, but he promised to return for a visit sometime, and if he was not treated rite he could come back and take over from me in the years to come. I say that he is loyal to the leaf because he could have been Kage, but he insisted on going to the leaf. Please accept him as one of your nins. -Kage of Hidden Shadow.”

 

`So he didn't know that he came from here. He must have suspected it though. What I want to know is why didn't he come back sooner, or at least send a letter. He seems almost completely different before. What really happened to you Naruto? I guess we'll find out during the Exam.'
