Naruto Fan Fiction ❯ World Collision ❯ Pursued ( Chapter 25 )

[ P - Pre-Teen ]

Okay, here you go! Just to let you know, if I don't post for a day or to, it will not be because I was just to lazy but because I have a school project that's worth 5 tests due this Thursday… And I've only done like half of it… So ya, I'm pressed on time!

Jessica held her breath as she watched the boy and the masked man from down below. What she didn't understand, was that they weren't moving at all, rather they were waiting for something. Whatever it was, she was hopping it would come sooner rather than later so the long, nerve racking suspense would be over.

“What are you waiting for?” She said softly under her breath without taking her still panic-stricken eyes from the two who stood on top of the wooden archway beneath them. In a few moments, Deidara spoke to the man below.

“Are you sure it's me you wanna fight, mm? Sharingan Kakashi? I don't know if I should be saying it, but Sasori-san is stronger than I am… mm.” He said in a way that showed the suggestion that he shouldn't leave the old woman and the girl alone with his partner. Unless, of course, if the two below didn't care about their teammates. The silver haired man continued to stare at them in silence. “Hm, so what will it be then; save the hag and the brat, or fight against me and an weak, innocent girl?”

“Sensei,” the boy said now calmer tone but with a large amount of anger still showing on his face. “You should go help Sakura-chan. I'll recue Gaara!” Again, the man didn't reply as he looked from his enemy to his student. The boy, seeming to have lost all self control now, let out a loud yell as all of his facial features became a lot more sharp looking. Within seconds, he launched himself at them. Responding to his actions, Deidara reached into his bag and pulled out one of his clay birds that he then threw at him as it enlarged. A loud, bright explosion was then made as it crashed the boy into the cliff's wall. Quickly, the man who was with him then threw, which Jessica determined to be a large ninja star, at the next bird that came soaring down at them.

Jessica then quickly looked up at her master, who just smirked as he made a hand sign that detonated the bird he had thrown at them. From where she sat between his feet, she wondered whether or not the two had died. Surely one couldn't survive a bomb, could they? If they were going to die, she hoped they were already dead. As much as she wanted them to live because of her Christian heart, she couldn't stand bombs either.

“There's no way I'm letting you take Gaara!” Yelled the boy who peeled himself out of the indent of the rock he had been embedded into. As surprised as Jessica was, she guessed that Deidara wasn't, since they continued to fly in place above the spot. When he had said that he was catching bait, she saw now that he really meant it.

“You're quite an odd Jinchuuriki. I heard that Jinchuuriki generally hate people because of their own bad moods…mm. But this Gaara is unusual too… So far there haven't been any Jinchuuriki who care about others. Besides him, two other Jinchuuriki up till now were defeated by my peers. Their friends and those of their villages, it seems not a single one came to save them… mm. Instead, it appeared that they were more on our side…” He said chuckling at the end of it. “Both so pitiful and detested, you couldn't ignore each other, mm? Because Gaara's `Ichibi' was extracted, he died. You will share the same fate shortly, got it?”

As Jessica listened silently, she began digging her fingernails into the ankles she had been holding onto before to stay on during the fast intervals they went at. “Deidara-sama, that's enough,” she stated between her teeth after pushing the new fear of her master aside.

“I'll…I'll kill you all!” He shouted as he bolted towards them. Jessica then almost lost her grip as the bird jolted a bit as they turned to lead the Jinchuuriki away from the cave and all of his allies more and more. Looking back, Deidara saw that the boy continued to increase on speed. Speeding up himself for a few seconds, he then directed his bird into the forest area before placing his slave on the ground.

“I'll be back later,” he said quickly as he darted back out of the forest and into the open. Now lying on the ground with an award expression on her face, she stared out in the direction he left in. What had just happened? Did he figure it was too hard to protect her and do what he had set out to do in that situation? It wasn't as if he was sick of her and just dropped her off there for good, for he himself said that he'd come back for her. He wasn't lying to her, was he?

Standing to her feet, she slowly made her way near the edge of the canyon area to see what was happening. By now with the speed the others were going at, they approached the area she was now at very quickly. She wondered whether or not they'd be able to notice that she was now missing. Glancing form side to side, she noticed that there was a small hedge bushes that grew wildly beside her. Getting on her stomach, she hid all but her eyes up behind the dark green bush. Looking out, there in the open about ten feet ahead of her and forty feet out, Deidara hovered over the area as he waited for his prey to catch up with him. As the two ninjas caught up with her master, the masked one started to slow his pace slightly as he grew nearer to her.

“Where's the girl who was with you?” He shouted to the blond man who started to fly off once again.

“She's none of your concern now is she, mm? You're not afraid of a slave girl are you now, Sharingan Kakashi?” He said in with a mocking tone in his voice. Without replying, the silver haired man glanced up and seemed to be staring right at her. Breathing in a small, startled gasp, Jessica ducked her head down completely behind the bush as her heart started to pound harder again. Had he found her out? She was afraid to look back and find him right in front of her face. Perhaps she should have stayed away from the edge, and instead ran away from it. Seconds that felt like ages then slowly passed as she finally found the courage to peak back over the side to see what was happening. They were gone now, way ahead from where she now lay. Jessica then let out a sigh of relief as her stiff shoulders sank heavily. She had been sure that his eyes were on her the whole time. Now that they were gone, there were less problems then before but the options were still few to choose from. What would she do now? In her mind she could only think of three logical options. The first was to follow Deidara-sama from the side, and hope to meet up with him again sooner. The second was that she could go back towards the cave and stay with Sasori-san until Deidara-sama came back. The third was that she could just sit there and wait until he got back. The first and second both looked as if confusion, anger, and violence would get involved if she chose them. Leaving herself with only option three to chose, she though again whether or not it was the best thing for her to do.

“Lord, what am I to do?” She prayed desperately. “I'm confused, I'm scared, and I just don't know what to do! Please keep me away from harm, and please protect Deidara-sama. Lord, I guess I could ask you to protect Sasori-san as well with whatever he's doing… But you know how much we don't like one another… Oh all well, please protect him as well if it's your will that he should live! Please though, Deidara-sama, though I can't really trust him anymore and I don't know him… He seems to be the only one here that I can rely on to help me survive in this world. I cannot do it alone Lord, so please be with me on this!”
