Shinji awoke on the couch at Misato and Asuka’s apartment. He rubbed his eyes and looked around.
The rental was quite spacious yet still cozy. The hallway from the front door led directly into the living room with an open doorway to the kitchen. Misato’s master bedroom was next to the kitchen and had it’s own bathroom. A more communal bathroom was right down the hall, more accurately it was Asuka’s bathroom. The kitchen lead to the living room with a half wall barrier that served as a bar and food preparing station. The living room was well furnished, if not expensively. Asuka’s room was off to the right of the living room and one spare room that was used for storage sat in between her room and the bathroom. To the left of the living room a balcony with two sun chairs stood out ten stories high.
He rolled on to his back. His plain white t-shirt that he slept in was bunched up and with a sigh he straightened it. The blanket that coated his lower half was snug and warm. With a content exhale of breath Shinji placed his arms behind his head and leaned back. Perhaps he would make the girls breakfast today? Just like old times, just with out Asuka trying to brain him when ever he stepped wrong.
He stared at a bar of sunlight that came through the balcony door and remembered what had happened last night.

Asuka got out of Misato’s blue car and waited for Shinji to grab his bags. After locking the door and grabbing his hand to lead him to the elevators she spoke. “Shin-kun do you want to tell Misato?”
Enjoying the feeling of his fiery lady’s hand Shinji did not comprehend the question and answered accordingly. “Tell her what?”
Asuka looked at him and rolled her eyes. “Men!” She tossed her hair over her shoulder. “Shinji do you want to tell Misato that me and you are... you know.” She bobbed her head adorably. “Together?”
Shinji watched her press the up arrow to one of the elevators. I don’t know. He shrugged. “If you want.”
Asuka again rolled her eyes. “Shinji you have to be willing to make choices.” She looked at him as the doors ‘dinged’ open. “I can’t do it all that well, if you are to be with me I need you to be willing to take control.” Her sapphire eyes had a hint of sadness to them.
For you anything. Shinji gave her a smile, and thanked his travels for finally granting him the power to speak to her with out stuttering constantly. “Alright Asuka-chan.”
The doors closed and the metal room began its ascent. Asuka arched one perfect eyebrow. “Asuka-chan?”
Uh oh. His mind searching wildly for something to say Shinji gave a nervous smile. “He he, do you not want me to, uh.” he paused hoping she did not say yes. “Not call you that?”
She gave him a wicked smile and leaned close her breasts rubbing against his arm as she looked up at him. “Not at all Shinji-chan.” she leaned close to his neck, Shinji felt him self growing firm in his pants. Oh no! Not here. Not now! “Could I get a kiss before we head up?”
He placed his hands on her shoulders and drew her forward against his front, partly to hide the embarrassing bulge that was quickly developing southward. Shinji could only feel her lips as he kissed her. Soft and warm, comforting. He could hear the different floors passing by and wished the building was endless. They kissed and held each other until the doors dinged at their floor.
Glancing down at his pants Asuka gave one of her wicked smiles, a sight that Shinji was fast becoming fond of. “Shin-kun your excited.”
He blushed. Why did this always happen to him! “Sorry Asuka...” He said as he picked up his duffle bag and draped it over his shoulder.
She nipped his neck. And whispered into his ear. “I don’t mind love.” She used her nose to brush his jugular, sending a shudder through him. “It just means that you fancy me, in every way.” She straightened and walked out Shinji following she turned back and spoke. “Shinji I want to tell Misato.”
I am never going to hear the end of this from Misato. He nodded. “Then lets, we’re both adults so she really shouldn’t care.” He looked at her sincerely. “If it will make you comfortable.”
Asuka smiled and leaned forward and gave him a quick peck. “I am more than happy that you are back Shinji.”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++
Walking into the apartment he was greeted by a pj dressed Misato. She was dressed in her sleep wear. Which meant tiny shorts and a loose top. Definitely not the right addition to the already flustered Shinji.
“Shinji!” She rushed forward and yanked him into an embrace. She didn’t let go and Asuka threw the keys onto the kitchen table before turning to see the long embrace. Shinji on the other hand was beginning to gasp for air on Misato’s shoulder.
Asuka tapped her on the shoulder. “Misato, Shinji and I have something we would like to tell you.”
She really wasn’t joking when she said she would tell Misato. Shinji thought as he desperately struggled to get air to his lungs.
Misato let him go, he had grown to be taller than her. By several inches, but the look in the purple haired woman’s eyes showed a strange fierceness. Almost a look that a mother or sister would have for their son or brother.
She continued to stare at him, had the other two known what she thought they would know that she thought he hadn’t been feeding himself properly. (this coming from a instant food connoisseur) Asuka watched getting impatient. Shinji stood there breathing the sweetest air he had ever tasted. He had missed Misato, a lot. But the fact was, he kind of liked to breath. He stood back from her.
She looks good. Staring into her eyes he spoke. “Hello Misato.” he gave a small smile.
She broke into a toothy grin, her mind finally done reviewing him. “I’ve, We’ve missed you.” She motioned to Asuka. Turning to the redhead Misato grabbed a can of beer from the table. “What did you want to tell me?”
She cracked it and sat down. Asuka sat as well. Shinji, attempting to be gentlemanly, stood and waited to be asked to sit. Asuka looked at him, she smiled. “Shin-kun you can just sit down!”
Misato had froze. Her eyes passing from one adolescent to the other as Shinji sat. Asuka had missed Shinji more than life itself she knew, yet even then she was surprised that Shinji wasn’t bleeding after the car ride. And as she watched Asuka turn back to her she knew exactly what was coming. She smiled into her can.
Asuka looked straight at her. “Shinji and I....” She looked for the right words. “We’re...” She let out an exasperated sigh.
“Together.” Shinji said. This did make Misato surprised though. Shinji spoke out of turn? And to finish Asuka’s sentence? She knew it was going to happen, if they had gotten along. But this soon? Who knew?
She lowered the can and smiled. “Good!” She reached forward and grabbed both their hands. “I am happy for you both.” She then froze, her mind realizing what could, and most definitely would happen. “And Shinji will be living with us?” She laughed out loud, both Asuka and Shinji looked at her confused. She wanted her two friends to be happy, to be honest she did look at Rei, Asuka, and especially Shinji as her younger siblings.
Misato threw down some more beer and felt herself get slightly buzzed. “Call up Rei and get her to come up here Asuka!” She laughed again. “I’m sure she’ll want to find out about this sooner than later!”
Shinji just felt confused. Misato thought it was funny that they were together? That just did not make sense. She seemed sincere enough about them being happy, but why was she laughing unless she was laughing at... Shinji began to blush madly. He had not thought about sex with Asuka. Or at least not in a relationship. Leave it to the purple haired vixen to beat him to the punch. Sometimes he swore she had a fifteen year old pubescent boy living in her.
Asuka smirked at Misato. “I certainly hope he is still living with us, after all it is only my name and yours on the lease.” her eyes narrowed. “And what do you care if...” She blushed. “Other things happen? You bring Kaji here and I have to listen!”
Misato’s mouth dropped. Asuka snickered and snatched up her cell phone to call Rei.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++
Shinji rose from the couch scratching at himself as he made his way to the bathroom. He had slept on the couch in respect to Asuka. He did not want to rush this, his feelings for her were to strong to do otherwise.
Leaving the bathroom feeling fresher he pulled on his black slacks and made his way to the kitchen. Opening the refrigerator he saw the contents for pancakes. Well breakfast had been decided.
He went over to the couch sat down and looked at the t.v. screen. Shrugging he got up and turned it on. He was not used to feeling this... light. He didn’t know what to call it but ‘happy’ but even then he knew that in the coming days he had to look for a job, and look at the university that had been reconstructed in Tokyo 3. He had been around for awhile and now he had to try and make some money, to possibly go else where.
He sat there watching television waiting for the signs of movement from the other rooms, it was Friday so they really should not have been sleeping in so late. Or at least that was what he thought until he heard Misato’s alarm go off. It must have been very loud to get straight through the wall. Is she trying to make herself deaf?
Misato exited her room and looked at the oven. 9:30 showed in florescent turquoise. She sighed and walked over to where Shinji sat and fell down on the couch. “How did you sleep Misato?” He asked politely. It was already feeling like home.
She groaned. “I have to be to work in one hour.” With that she hung her head and walked off to her room and soon the sounds of a shower echoed out of her cracked door.
Shinji left the t.v. on and went to the kitchen getting out the necessary ingredients for pancakes. It took all of ten minutes to have it mixed and the oven heated. The sounds of the shower died off as he cooked two of the cakes. He felt his mind drift off as the they cooked.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++
Rei showed up to the door with something Shinji had rarely ever seen on her. A smile. His memory was filled with an emotionless girl. But this girl in her pleated blue skirt and black jacket seemed, excited. And she gave Asuka a strong hug when they saw each other.
She saw him and ran over and gave him a quick hug before she said quietly. “Ikari.” Her red eyes delving deep into his. He almost felt as if she was reading his mind. And when her eyebrows raised in surprise he quickly spoke.
He smiled back. “Ayanami.” What just happened? Mentally shrugging it off Shinji figured it was just the excitement and tension of being somewhere new.
Asuka snorted. “You two are somber as the grave!” She jumped up and poked Rei in the side which caused the albino to squeak and jump back. “You seem excited Rei-kun. What’s going on?” She smiled again and lunged at the now composed girl.
Rei dodged the finger and slapped at Asuka’s hand and let out a quiet giggle. Shinji felt his jaw mentally dropping. Was this the same Rei he knew when he was 14? She was animated, and laughing. The girl spoke though and her voice was even and calm. “I’m just happy to see Ikari. That’s all.”
Misato sitting down, grinned. “She’s lying Asuka.” She smiled sweetly at Rei. “Now Rei honey, what happened?”
Rei blushed and sat down on one of the chairs. She looked at Shinji again. She was clearly hiding something now. And Asuka and Misato were working their way to finding out what it was. “I told you. I’m just happy to see Shinji.”
“Thank you Rei.” he said honestly. He was surprised at how close the two girls had become. They had been rivals when he had last seen them. And that
Asuka gave an evil grin. And said in a sing song voice “Your lying Rei.”
Misato snickered. “Rei its us! Just tell us what happened.” She glanced at Shinji. “Not to exclude you of course Shinji.”
He waved it away. “Its no problem Misato.” He had spent a lot of time with his relatives in America. Specifically in San Francisco. He had loved the city. It was there he had met friends. Many of which had been deported before he ever came back to Japan. It was to bad really, he missed them all but who really knew where they were? But that was besides the point. Shinji had gone through many conversations such as this.
Rei squirmed in her seat. She glanced at Shinji. “Do you mind if I say?”
He shook his head. “Don’t mind at all Rei.” He shrugged. “If you want me to leave just tell me.”
She nodded. She looked around the room her eyes sparkling. “I think I may have met someone.”
“What!” Asuka yelled. She stood up. “Rei you mean to tell me a you have met a guy?”
Misato let out a loud laugh. “Well isn’t this just the night for news!”
Rei turned her head inquisitively. “Why?”
Misato turned to Asuka and Shinji. “Tell her.”
Rei turned her head to them her confusion all over her face. “Tell me what?”
Asuka walked over and draped her arms around Rei. Hugging her close. She whispered in her ear. The motion and the looks that came on both of the girls faces reminded Shinji of two sisters, their faces lighting up. Rei turned and looked at Shinji in a new light. Her eyes studied his. Red stared into blue and suddenly he felt the same mental “twinge” as when he hugged her.
“He loves you Asuka-chan.” Rei said her voice warm. “And I approve entirely.”
Asuka leaned in and pressed her face to the other girl’s. She whispered to her best friend. “Thank you so much Rei-chan.” Rei hugged her closely in response.
Shinji placed his hand on Asuka’s shoulder as she sat back she simply placed her hand on his and he felt happy. He had some of his first friends back, and he also had the one girl he truly wanted to be with for the rest of his life. He had known he wanted to be with her for years. It felt right in his soul.
“Rei.” Misato’s voice broke Shinji’s thoughts. Misato leaned forward. “As much as I’m happy for these two I am curious about who has taken your interest.” Since Rei had broken up with her first, and last, boyfriend she had been unattainable. No male of the species had interested her enough for her to want to be with them. So this really was news.
Asuka removed her hand, to the dismay of Shinji, and piped up. “Agreed who is he?” She arched her eyebrow wickedly. “Or she?”
Rei squirmed in her seat her pale cheeks rose red. “It’s not a girl...” She mumbled. She spoke unsteadily, almost as if she were trying to control her voice. “He... he works at the restaurant with me.” She looked up and smiled. “He’s... funny.”
Asuka threw her hands up. “Alright so he’s a restaurant working comedian!” She slapped her hand on the table. “Details Rei!”
Rei blushed again. “I’m sure you’ve seen him.” She rubbed her hands in between her thighs. “He often is walking around Tora Street.”
Misato choked. “You mean that street where the old section of apartments are?” Rei nodded. Misato continued. “Rei that neighborhood... it’s not exactly safe.”
Rei blinked. “I know.” She continued before anyone could cut her off. “He’s a deportee from America.” She looked shrugged. “He wears a studded jacket, plays guitar, and has a smile that...” She blushed, her eyes looked up at Asuka. “I talked to him yesterday and he has been stuck in my head ever since.” She looked at Misato. “Is it wrong for me to feel for him?”
Misato shook her head. “Of course not Rei. I’m just saying that he comes from a rough area of town.” She shrugged. “The deportees seem to be mainly young from that country. And it’s to bad.” She said. “A lot of the kids I’ve met from Tora street are friendly enough. The street has just developed a less than savory reputation.”
Asuka reached out and grabbed Rei’s hand. “Is he trust worthy?”
Looking at her legs, Rei nodded. Asuka nodded to herself. Something was going on that Shinji was unaware of. Does it matter who it is along as Rei is content? Rei looked up nervously, she was smiling. “I am nervous to see him at work tomorrow night.”
Asuka smiled. Shinji stared at her. She was gorgeous. “Rei don’t be. After all you do like him don’t you?”
Rei bit her lip. “I do.” She paused and continued. “I want to get to know him. I have the urge to speak with him.”
Misato giggled. “Rei has a boyfriend!” It wasn’t often Misato and Asuka got to tease Rei so they were quick to commence.
Rei blushed. “No I don’t.” This only made Misato laugh harder.
Asuka also laughed. “What is his name?”
Rei smiled. “Joey. McGrath.” She laughed. “It’s an odd name I know.”
Shinji had froze. Joey McGrath? He leaned forward. “How long ago was he deported?”
Rei looked at him. “I don’t know.”
Shinji laughed out loud. “I knew a Joey McGrath back in America about a year ago.” The others looked at him uncertainly. “Does he have blue hair? Patched up pants?” He had just described more kids back in America than he could count but over here it would stick out. Hopefully.
Rei nodded again her hands on the table. Shinji laughed. “I’m pretty sure I know the guy!” He looked around at disbelieving faces. “He got deported while I was over there.” He almost laughed. “I didn’t know him well but we had hung out once or twice.” He looked at Rei. “If it’s the guy I’m thinking of then I’d say go for it.” he did laugh then. “Though I have to warn you he is... interesting.”
Rei nodded. Her eyes sparkled again her thoughts were else where. “I have known of him since I started working at Fukushimas.” She looked at Asuka. “He’s the one I said was attractive.”
Asuka laughed. “Rei now you have to talk to him tomorrow!”
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++
Flipping the cakes one final time Shinji leaned on the tiled counter. The night had ended soon after. He had kissed Asuka goodnight, and tucked her in, and fell asleep on the couch.
Shinji placed the two pancakes on a plate and grabbed a fork from the dish rack just as Misato walked out from her room.
Shinji felt his jaw drop. Misato was clothed in a dark pinstriped skirt (cut to the knees for professional look and quality) and a pinstriped short tailed over coat. She looked at the young man standing there gaping at her.
“What?”
Shinji shook himself. “Uh, you look good Misato. Very professional,”
She smiled. “Thanks Shin!” She saw the pancakes on the plate. “You cooked?”
“Yea, I thought it would be nice for you to go to work with something in your stomach.” He looked at the beer cans on the table. “It would do more for your health that’s for sure.”
Misato snatched up the plate and watched Shinji pour on two more pancakes. “How was America Shinji?”
He checked the grilling food. “It was...” He looked at her. “An experience. As I said last night most of my time was spent in the city of San Francisco or around that area.” he swallowed. “I suffered for months.” He flipped the pancakes. “But after a time I met people and they helped me.” He shook his head. “My years were filled with travel and fun.” He looked at Misato. “I thought of Asuka every day. I couldn’t stand my behavior when I left her like that.” He sighed. “Misato I’ve grown up since I was fourteen. I had to find a place in myself where I could try and take care of another person. You understand that right? I could not throw that on Asuka.”
Misato nodded. “Of course Shinji. Just don’t run off again.” She laughed and said quietly. “Or at least take Asuka with you this time.” She looked at her watch, a slick metal style. “Shit!” She scarfed down the last of her pancakes and began running out of the house only pausing to throw on black high heels and shout over her shoulder. “Thanks for the food Shinji! I’ll see you both at five!” With that the front door slammed closed.
“Why does she always have to make such a racket when she leaves!” Asuka came out of her bedroom. Her red hair was bed worn if still shining, and dressed in nothing but short shorts and a short top that revealed mich of her torso. She was grumpy, Shinji could tell. In the past he would have quaked in fear, now though he knew better. Now he just resisted the urge to go kiss her.
He threw her a smile. “Hungry?”
She looked at him her she gave him a shining smile. “Yes.”
Shinji went back to the pancakes in front of him, face down he smiled. She is so beautiful.
He jumped when a pair of slender arms went about his waist and a whisper leaked into his ear. “What’s with the smile?”
He flipped both pancakes onto a plate. Set it aside then spun about gripping her at the waist. He looked into her eyes. “You Asuka. My smile was for you.” He then leaned forward and kissed her and felt her arms encircle his head.
She broke the kiss and whispered into his mouth. “You make me happy.” Then she pecked him, snatched up the pancakes and ran to the couch giggling the entire way.
Shinji shook his head and sat on the couch next to Asuka. “What do you want to do today Asuka?”
She smiled between bites. “Lets go to lunch.” She arched an eyebrow. “I’ll buy this time.” She pecked his cheek. “If you’ll look in the newspaper for a job.”
Shinji shrugged. “Sounds good to me. I’ll get the check the next time we go out.”
Asuka smiled finishing her pancakes. “I’m going to go shower and dress.”
She kissed his cheek and hopped off the couch to her bathroom.
He leaned down to his duffel bag and pulled clothing out. He wanted to take a quick shower himself so he waited on the couch.
He heard Asuka’s shower shut off and stood. Grabbing his clothing he moved to the door and knocked. “Can I take a shower?”
“Only if you want me to look at you.”
He grumbled and she heard his new girl friend snicker. Then opened the door.
Asuka yelped and spun around a yellow towel keeping all her goods (which had grown to Shinji’s delight) out of sight.
He gave her a smile. If you just leave the bathroom for a second I’ll be in there and you can come right back in.”
She sniffed at him. “Fine!” Stomped out and closed the door.
Shinji undressed and hopped into the shower and turning on the water. “Ok you can come in Asuka-chan.”
Through the shower door he could see the blurred yellow dress and red hair.
“You’ve gotten bolder Shinji.”
“Uh...” What was that supposed to mean? “Thanks?”
Asuka continued. “I like it. Though you will have one slight problem once you get out of the shower.”
Shinji rolled his eyes. Asuka liked to play these games, he could tell. A blow dryer sounded and Shinji had to shout. “And what would that be?”
It turned off and Asuka’s sly voice floated to him. “I don’t have any other towels in here.”
He froze the hot water washing the sleep off of him. “There were some on the wall when I walked in though.”
She let out an evil giggle. “Shin-kun may have to walk around...” she paused for dramatic effect. “NUDE!” and began laughing.
He shook his head. “Asuka just put a towel there, please.” She continued to laugh and the door closed.
It was San Francisco all over again. Or at least this time he did not mind being stared at nude. Before his friends had stole all the towels. Which only led Shinji to wonder why he never just carried one with him.
Stepping out of the shower he saw a single grey towel on the counter, a note sat on it. ‘You got off this time baka. Love- A’ He shook his head of water. OF course that word was going to still be used, it bothered him slightly but at this time he could care less. It had been near two days since he had gotten to wash. The plane ride from the U.S. had been murderous. He began to dress himself. I’ll have to get her back for this little towel prank.
Asuka got dressed and reviewed herself in the large stand mirror in her room. She went for a classic for her and Shinji’s first “date.” A yellow sun dress with a strong push up for her breasts. She threw on a thin red flannel coat that came to mid waste and walked out to the living room. Her figure had filled out since she had been fourteen and when she glided into the living room and saw Shinji’s eyes gaze at her with a silent longing she giggled. She had missed him. More than she would ever admit.
She threw him a smile and saw the clothing he had picked out. His dark slacks, a light weight, white button up shirt and a black over coat. He looked... grown up. And all the more sexy! She thought dirtily.
He smiled at her. His cobalt eyes flashing his feelings. “Ready?” She felt like melting every time he smiled. Is he to good for me? She banished the thought immediately. It was no way to think of the man whom she loved.
She walked over and placed her hands on his jacket and straightened it. She could feel his heart beating through the cloth. She smiled. “You look handsome Shin-kun.” And he did. Enough so that she wanted to kiss him and begin to undress him.
He smiled. “Thanks Asuka.” He glanced to the door. “But if we don’t leave now I’m going to have to force myself to.” He grabbed her hands and started walking to the door. Disappointment began to rise in Asuka’s stomach but she pushed it down. She couldn’t believe it but she had wanted to undress him and possibly make love. Slow, take it slow. Don’t jump his bones just yet. It just wouldn’t be proper.
She released his hand grabbed her purse and keys and proceeded to the door.
He followed her to the elevators. “Where do you want to eat Asuka?”
She shrugged as the doors opened and they began to descend to the ground floor. “I don’t care at all. What about you?”
He laughed. “You choose I’m not picky.” He placed his hand near hers. He still holds some of his old nervous ways. She thought as she closed her hand on his. He continued a happy glint in his eye. “Back in America we always let the person buying choose where we ate.”
She stiffened. She did not know why news of America bothered her so. Perhaps it was that Shinji ran there leaving her groggy and alone, until Rei and her became close. She did not want him running away again. She knew she would not survive if he did. “Was it fun over there?”
He nodded not noticing her mood. “Very, but it was always missing one incredibly important factor.”
She looked at him her stomach still knotted up. “What was that?”
“You.”
The knots disappeared. She leaned against his shoulder. One moment she was upset next happier than she had been her entire life. “Is that so.” She said she ran her fingers over his chest. “Well don’t run away again. Please.”
He drew her hand up and kissed it. “Never again.”
The doors open and both broke apart embarrassed. Not that they had any reason to be, no one was in the lobby except an old woman who was checking her mail box and muttering about the ride down in the elevators.
They walked out the front doors and Asuka stopped. “Should I call Rei?” she was slightly nervous, she admitted to herself. Even if she did love Shinji she was still... raw. And Rei was a sister to her.
Shinji looked slightly subdued but answered in the same happy tone. “Sure if you want.”
She snapped out her phone and leaned against him and called Rei.
It rang four times before a sleepy voice answered. “Hello?”
“Hey me and Shinji are going to lunch and you should come.”
Rei began to grumble. “I was sleeping Asuka.” She yawned. “What time is it?”
Asuka looked to Shinji and motioned to her wrist. He looked at his watch catching her drift. “It’s 12:30.”
Repeating the information to Rei only made the tired girl sigh. “I have to be at work by three. How about we meet somewhere at one thirty?”
“Alright how about the Ramen shack down by Tora Street?” Asuka said sweetly. Perhaps we’ll meet this heart throb Rei has. She almost giggled.
“NO!” Rei was suddenly very awake. “Any where but there.”
Asuka laughed. “Meet us down here in thirty minutes then.”
Rei sighed. “Fine.” She muttered something about ‘pushy red heads’ and how she had been sleeping and hung up.
Slapping her phone closed she led Shinji to a small park across the street. Parents were watching kids playing as the two sat down.
“So?” Shinji asked.
“Oh she’ll be down in thirty minutes.” She leaned close and nipped his neck, he gasped. “I figured we could be together for a little while.”
Shinmji nodded. Asuka sighed. “Shinji you were supposed to kiss me.”
Shinji simply laughed. His voice became mischievous. “Perhaps we should take a walk then.”
Asuka grumbled as they walked but it was all for show. She was enjoying feeling Shinjis hand in her own and the physical presence of his body to her.
They walked down one of the cement paths and listened to cars pass by on the road and the birds chirping. It was a clear day. And all was right to the two.
They reached a bench that sat underneath a tree and Shinji drew Asuka down to sit next to him. A pond lay next to the path and the two stared at it.
Shinji put his arm around her shoulders and looked at her. “Asuka it’s... it’s wonderful seeing you again.”
She sat there pressed against him and smiled. “It’s good to see you to Shinji, but...” She ran one of her hands under his coat and gripped his side. “It’s about time you showed up!”
He laughed. “Well it took me awhile but we are here now.” He turned her face up to his. “And that is all that matters.” He leaned forward and gently kissed her.
The sat there holding each other when Shinji checked his watch. “Its time to head back and meet up with Rei.” he sounded almost regretful but stood all the same.
Asuka sighed. She had been enjoying the moment but it was time to go see Rei.
When they approached the front of the apartment complex and saw Rei walking out they shouted for her.
Rei turned and walked to them. She was dressed in her black coat, black skirt and a white button up shirt. She had added some slight make up to her face, it had made her quite pretty. She was ready to go to work. Asuka wanted to snicker. Rei never wore makeup. That boy best be ready for her. She’s bringing her A game. Asuka knew that odds were Rei would end up not talking to him and staying quiet and hating every second of her silence. She wished her friend luck but she was already expecting a phone call that she had received several times in the past and a sad Rei would talk to her about her difficulties in talking to boys. Still she silently wished her friend luck.
She approached. “Where are we to eat.” And then she pointed at Asuka. “Your paying.”
Asuka’s jaw dropped. Bitch! “You can pay for yourself!”
Rei started laugh and shook her head. “No, you woke me up!”
Asuka snorted. “Watch me actually buy you a meal.”
Rei just laughed and drew her own bag over her shoulder. “Where are we going to eat?”
Asuka shrugged. Just for you Rei. “How about that Ramen shack, eh?” She smiled innocently at Rei. “I hear they make some great noodle bowls.”
Rei’s eyes widened. “No!” She moved towards the bus stop, her cheeks had taken a slight tinge of red. “I refuse to go there.” Asuka knew that it was just her friend being nervous about seeing the boy who she spoke of. Asuka only wanted the best for her friend.
Asuka huffed. “Fine!” She stood next to the bus stop with Shinji. Rei stood a foot away and did not look at them, her cheeks were still red. “How about we just go to the city center?”
Rei nodded, her nervous mood gone immediately. “Perhaps that new Chinese restaurant.”
Both girls looked at Shinji. “Sounds good to me.”
The bus rolled up and they all got on, payed their fare, and sat.
The Golden Dynasty was a fine establishment, and the prices were not horrible either. They had been seated at a table with a spinning center.
They all traded small talk and Shinji looked through a newspaper he had picked up on the street. He was looking at possible jobs for the summer. So far it was pretty fruitless. Everything sounded unappealing. Who honestlywanted to work in the sewers?
The food came and all three ate soup, noodles, and steamed rice. It was pleasant sitting around talking.
When they all left the time was 2:30.
Rei waved to them and ran off to find her bus to work, as she put it “Thank you. But now I’m late.” Asuka had only yelled at her to say hi to Joey for her. Rei had blushed deeply and ran off.
The two of them walked down the busy street. Shinji looking for help wanted signs and enjoying talking with Asuka.
By the time they had finished window shopping it was nearing five.
“My feet are sore from walking in these damn heels.” Asuka complained. “Lets go find a bus and head back.” She leaned on him. “Unless you want to stay longer.”
“No I’m ready to head back myself.” He passed a kid in a sleeveless shirt who held a sign asking for spare change. He had several piercing’s and looked tired and lost. “I couldn’t find any jobs that looked any good.” He sighed as they reached their bus stop. “I know I’ll find one but I’m already hating the searching process.”
Asuka kissed his cheek. “We’ll talk to Misato when we get back.” She said. “I’m sure she knows one or two openings.”
Shinji nodded life was about to kick in fast over here if Misato did help him find a job. Next step was making money. Perhaps I’ll try and raise enough money to take me and Asuka to Hong Kong? He smiled to himself as they boarded the bus. This summer was forming quickly. First step was a job. And he had no idea what he would be doing.

Well that’s the end of second chapter. I’m debating on chapter threes course and it may take me a while to post it, but it is coming. So no fear more cheese is on it’s way.
If you haven’t noticed I’m slowly trying to reveal What Shinji did over in America and work on the relationship aspect of the story. Several different scenarios and ideas are bouncing around my head mainly two: What is Misato’s job and what will that job be?
Get ready people cause things are going to get interesting. I have a habit of looking for new ways to increase the story’s overall plot. Who knows perhaps something else will attack earth. My mind is set completely though on progressing all the relationships and seeing where they all lead.
See ya next time,

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++
