Chapter 4

Blood of the Ancients.

There before Asuka, stood Adam, the supposed cause of the Second Impact. She was torn between running in fear, or lashing out in pure anger, but before she could open her mouth to say something, Adam held up a hand, and spoke within her mind. 'I know you have a great deal of questions child, and I plan to answer them all. The first, shall be about how I came about getting here.' Asuka nodded, Adam's calm voice soothing her fear and anger "I was about to ask you that." 'Well, do you remember the messager of Light?" Asuka's fear and anguish slowly returned "Arael..." Adam nodded 'He was not attacking you dear child.' "OH REALLY!? HE COULD HAVE FOOLED ME! You sent him to rape my mind! Now your here to confuse me!" Adam put up his hands in defence 'I did no such thing!' "STOP TOYING WITH ME! If your going to kill me then KILL ME!" 'I am not here to kill you child! I am here to give you a warning, and a second chance!' Asuka's rage didnt stop "Why should I want a second chance!? Piloting Eva is my life! There nothing else for me back there!" 'Adam sighed audibly 'Child, you know not of what you miss.' And before them both, was displayed Asuka's hospital room, and Shinji, resting his head next to her, asleep. "Baka Shinji? What of him?" 'He is what I have come to warn you of child.' "Call me Asuka if your going to call me anything. I'm anything but a child. Now what do you want to warn me about Shinji for? What is he going to do?"

A slight realization hit her all at once "EW! THAT HENTAI! HE'D BETTER NOT HAVE DONE ANYTHING!" 'Adam laughed slightly 'Oh dear, Miss Asuka, you are certainly one of the most entertaining Lilim I have come across.' His tone became more serious. 'But no, the young man known as Shinji Ikari would rather take his own life, than violate you.' "Then what the hell are you warning me about for?" Adam's voice darkened slightly 'That young man shall soon be the center of all darkness. Something is wearing away at his mind, and shall soon overtake him.' "Asuka became slightly concerned. "What is it?" 'It is something called "Idola" ' "Who's Idola? I'll kick his scrawny ass no problem with my Eva." 'It's not as simple as that Miss Sohryu. Idola is not a being. It is an entity, that has been ever since man had begun to fear itself.' Asuka nodded for him to continue, 'It can come to the form of whatever it wishes, and will try to take hold of the most powerful being it can.'

Asuka laughed "Come on. Baka Shinji? He's as weak as they come!" 'But his Evangelion...' Asuka's eyes widened slightly "So he wants his Eva? How will he get to it?" 'By overtaking Shinji. But once he takes over Shinji's body, Shinji's soul will be stripped away. He will see all that happens, but will have no control.' "Why are you warning me, and not Shinji then? Or the Commander?! Even Misato!" 'I only managed to reach your mind through the Messager of Light. And Shinji's mind is plagued by darkness.' Asuka frowned slightly "Well, what would happen if Idola got to the Eva?" Adam looked at Asuka, his eyes narrowed slightly 'Idola only exists for destruction and death. If he reaches that Eva, then your world, as well as countless others shall be annihilated.' "Others!?" Asuka exclaimed. She had always been a firm believer in the theory that there was no other life outside of earth. 'Of course Miss Sohryu. You are not the only creation of the Almighty. I shall show you.' And before them, appeared an image of a man with long spiked black hair, and red fur on his chest. Was trying to hold back a large black ball that crackled with black lightning, and was failing miserably, as it pushed him downwards, and slammed into the planet.

It exploded on contact, and evicerated all life, and the planet as well. The scene then changed to five young girls in fukus, starting hoplelessly at a monstrous black figure headed towards them. There was a flash of light, and where the girls stood, was a scorch mark. The scene shifted again, and what appeared to be a Roman looking type of robot with a large cannon in his hand was firing rapidly. The mecha was heavily damaged, with it's left arm missing, and face plate torn apart, but the giant shadow he was firing at doged nimbly, clutching a scythe like beam weapon. It danced around the beams, and the robot then ran out of ammo. It tried to fly backwards, but the shadow monster reacted first, hurling the scythe, and burying it right in the abdomen. The next scene shifted to an Elven woman, holding up her hands, and the monster of shadow being held by ropes of light. She spoke something, but no words were emitted, and the monster shrieked loudly, as his form contorted and shifted, into the form of a quartz tablet. With the last of her strength, the woman flung her arm upwards, and the tablet zoomed into the heavens. She then dropped to the ground, laying next to a knight in yellowish armor, who's body was scorched. The "screen" displaying these horrific images then blinked out of existance. Asuka was confused slightly. At the fact Adam wanted her to take this thing head on, and the fact there was life outside of earth. "So..there IS a god?" Adam nodded slightly 'Yes there is. And I know your next question. Why cant he take care of him?'

Asuka nodded. 'I do not no the reason why he will not help you. I suspect this is a final test to see if mankind is worthy of life.' "I think we're pretty damn worthy after all the things he's done to us! What about the Second Impact!?" Adam's head drooped slightly, and he closed his eyes. 'That was my attempt to kill Idola..' "What!?" 'It had infected a scientist that was trying to discover what I was. I saw him and recognized it was Idola's marking. So I tried to destroy it there. It didnt work..and he manipulated my attack into something even worse...destroying most of the earth..' "Well, what do you want me to do!? If you cant fight it, SURELY I cant!" 'Idola plays upon fears and anxieties, and ow, he is manipulating the heart of Shinji Ikari. Your care and compassion will be enough to help heal the mental wounds rent about his mind!' "Your asking me to love Shinji!? Baka hentai Shinji!? The same Shinji that showed me up!? What kind of request is that!? I'd rather fight the Idola thing!" 'It is not a request child, for you know deep in your heart you care for the young boy.' "Yes. Thats all he is. A boy. Not a man like Kaji, but a young boy who whines, and apologizes about everything!"

Adam sighed to himself 'Either that, or let the young man die, as you kill Idola. Remember, Idola would have taken his body, and pushed is soul to the very corner of his skull, watching as his hands perform tasks that he has no control over. Killing one, would mean killing the other!' "So? Shinji doesent have much to live for anyway, and I'm sure he'd love to go to heaven with his mother." 'Yui Ikari is not dead.' Asuka's eyes shot wide "Your kidding me! I read the reports! She died in an Eva test!" Adam sighed 'This is going to be a long day...and I dont have much time..' And began to give Asuka the life story of Shinji Ikari.

Shinji had been gone from Asuka's side long after he had been displayed from her. He walked the streets, unconsiously heading for NERV HQ, pondering about what Idola had said to him in his dream, and the man with black patches about his skin. 'What's happening to me?' He thought 'am I going insane? Or is this real?' He reached into his pocket, and slid it through the card reader, walking forward, heading towards the research department. In the back of his mind, he could feel something guiding him, directing his footsteps towards the research departent where the tablet lay. And the research department was being carefully monitored...illegally, by one Kensuke Aida, who had finally managed to hack into the NERV system. "Finally! Now lets see whats going on behind door number one!" He pressed F1, only to be shown a video of the dissection of Shamshiel's core. "Bah, seen it already." He pressed F2, and was shown a video of three girls making out. "Someone's hiding stuff on NERV's computer...hehe..." He watched for a while, then pressed F3, and caught a video of the Tablet. "Hello there. Who might you be?" He looked at the tablet markings carefully, and all at once exclaimed "Ahah! I know what that language is!!"

He scurried from his desk, and tore through a pile of books, and pulled out one "Dungeons and Dragons 2000 Edition, Language Book" and begun flipping through it, until he found the page he was looking for. "Yeah! I knew it! It's written in Celestial!" He plopped back on his chair, quickly saved the video, and logged out of the Nerv Computer system. He continually looked up and down, from the book to the paused video capture he had made, and enlarged, slowly decoding it. "Sell? No, Celebrate. Yeah thats it. Celebrate." He continued reading, and deciphering, until an hour later, he had it down pat, and written on paper. "Celebrate the Revolution to the Origin. For when Darkness Falls, Idola shall hold the Immortal Feather, and Wield the Divine Blade. What the hell is that supposed to mean?" "I was hoping you could tell us that." Said one Misato Katsuragi, who had been standing at his door for the past five minutes "AH! HOLY! H-how'd you get here?!"

"The Magi arent stupid you know. We knew you had hacked into our system, and had gotten into Ritsuko's files for the longest of time." Kensuke blushed somewhat 'So SHE'S the one with the yuri porn on her computer..' "Anyway, if you want to avoid jail time, I insist that you return to HQ with me." Kensuke only managed to nod dumbly, and walk towrds her, with his head dropped, clutching the D&D book, and the paper he had managed to decipher it on. "Oh, just a minute." Kensuke looked back in time to see her whip out her 45, and fire about seven rounds into his computer. "AH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" Misato smiled, and pushed him out of the door "Revoking your computer usage priviliges for a while."

{Shinji is on his way to the Tablet, and Asuka has found out what Idola is and what it wants. Will Idola be free and destroy this world as well, or will Asuka find it in her heart to care for Shinji, and remove the supposed curse from his mind.
