" Well Shinji it looks like your become more useless by the minute! " Ritsuko said to Rei who just nodded her head and the bottle blond when to check in Gwen's sync rate and saw that her sync rate was down by a point, " Gwen are you ok? " she asked and Gwen told her that she had trouble sleeping last night and that she did not get to sleep until really early in the morning, " Ok Gwen. " she said to Gwen and she took a closer look at the girl and she could just make out the bags under her eyes and saw the kind of spaced out look on her face.

 

" Gwen if your having trouble sleeping try a warm glass of milk before you go to bed. " Ritsuko said with a motherly smile then she went to check on Drake's sync ratio out and saw that he was holding steady at a 61.09% sync ratio which was usual for him, " Looking good Drake. " Ok that's enough for today, hit the showers you did well today. " Ritsuko said to the children as she and Misato watched as the children climbed out of there mock entery plugs and make there way to the showers as Misato and Ritsuko talked for a few minutes, " Misato what has Shinji be like the last few days? " Ritsuko asked and saw the troubled look on Misato's face and she felt a slight pang of worry, " He's depressed I have tried to help him thought it but nothing I do seems to help, all he does is sit around the house watching tv most of the time and I'm sure that his grades are starting to slip. " I see thanks Misato I'll talk to you later. " Ritsuko said and made her way to her office for her meeting with Shinji.

 

****** The Shower/Locker Rooms ******

Shinji said and Drake gave him a smile, " Hey I understand that but I just want you to know that some times talking about shit makes it easer to deal with, I learned that ever since I ended up in Japan, Misato is one hell of lady so maybe you might want to talk to her about your troubles and if you don't want to talk to her I'll listen to you and maybe give you some advice if you want it. " Drake said as he finished getting dressed into his street clothes.

 

Shinji looked at Drake for a moment and for some strange reason he felt comforted by his words but he knew that he had to deal with his problems on his own and quickly got dressed as Drake left the locker room and once he was dressed he made his way to the motor pool where Misato and the other where waiting for him.

Gendo thought about what he knew of Shinji's home life thanks to the weekly reports from Misato as well as his other sources of information regarding the children.

" How long before the Third Child becomes unless? " Gendo said with a mild annoyance, Ritsuko looked at Gendo and she knew that the time had come to take a stand with the commander over the matter of Shinji's well being, " Commander I think the time has come to start Shinji on a medical treatment for his depression and I would like to start him on a Tetrahydrocannabinol therapy. " Ritsuko said with a matter of fact tone of voice and smiled to herself as she watched the commander's neatly folded hands drop a fraction of an inch in surprise.

 

" What do you mean by that? " Gendo asked in mild surprise for he thought Ritsuko was a better doctor then that for he was certain that she knew of a few far better choices for treatment of the third child's depression then that of marijuana.

" Shinji's personalty and this type of depression make him and ideal candidate for THC therapy. " Ritsuko said before she launched into a two hour speech about why THC therapy would be ideal for Shinji using the most modern and up to date psychological studies on the beneficial effects of THC on depression for the type of depression that Shinji was suffering from then launch into another two hour speech about the negative impact that other forms of antidepressants would have on Shinji and his ability to pilot Unit-01.

 

In the end Gendo could stand it no more and knew that he needed his fix right then and there, " Very well you maybe began the treatment, dismissed. " Shinji said as Kaji went up to a drink machine and got himself a soda and was asked if he wanted one, " Sure I'll have a coke if it's there. " Shinji said and watched as Kaji fed his Nerv I.D. slash debt card into the drink machine and press a button.

 

" Well Shinji the first thing you have got to do now that you are relaxed is think of what you want out of life and how to go about getting it. " Kaji said as he handed the coke to Shinji who popped the top and took a long drink from the can, " As for Asuka the best think you can do is take a firm but polite stand with her and tell her and Gwen as well to back off and give you your space and if Asuka gives you trouble over that tell her she is not the center of the universe and to get lost, make sure to do it in front of Misato because I don't what Asuka's temper is like then once your done telling her off walk away from her and ignore what ever she says to you when she's insulting you but be civil with her when she's talking to you like an adult and some respect otherwise just keep away from her. " Kaji said as he took a drink of his soda as he said down on the padded bench that was in the lounge like area and motioned for Shinji to join him, Kaji could see the deeply thoughtful look on Shinji's face and took that as a good sign that he was reaching Shinji as he came out of his shell.

 

" Ok Kaji I think I can do that. " Shinji said and watched as Kaji's smile grew a little more warmer, " Good, just remember don't cold or cruel with Asuka but make it known that you are putting your foot down with the way she's been treating you, as for Misato I know how you can get back at her by playing her own game. " Kaji said with an evil grin that made Shinji giggle with an evil look in his eyes at the thought of getting back at Misato for all her teasing and for the next fifteen minutes Kaji told Shinji a few tales of the wild times that her and Misato had in vivid detail and Shinji ate up every word of what Kaji was telling him with an impish smile on his face with a look in his eyes that seemed to say * This is pure fucking gold! *

" Now Shinji when you start to tease Misato don't say to her " Do you remember when you and Kaji played around with ice and whip cream back in collage." but drop subtle hints that you know something naughty that she likes, such " Ok Misato I'll even bring the whipped cream. " you see? " Kaji said and watched with mirth as Shinji's eyes lit up with unholy glee as he slowly came out of his buzz

" Ok Kaji and thanks a lot for your help. " Shinji said with a smile and a thankful tone on his voice.

 

" Well let's get going. " Kaji said and the to of them left the lounge with smiles on there faces, * It's about time Shinji let go, I hope that this works out for him. * Kaji thought to himself.
