This is my frist go at an anime fic so don't expect it to be good but I hope you enjoy it none the less, please read and review thank you.

Part 7

Stress and It's Relief

****** The House ******

" So how was school? " Misato asked as she, Asuka, Gwen , Drake and Rei walked into there home but before any of them could answer there was a loud * WARK! * and standing in front of them was PenPen with his food dish in one flipper and a very pissed off look on his face.

" Sorry PenPen. " Misato said as she bent down to take the food dish from PenPen who had considered for a moment to give her a peck to remind her who was the boss around here but decided not to.

" You pig! " Asuka half shouted at Drake who was giving Misato's butt an apperciative gaze.

" What?, what is your problem? " Drake shouted back at Asuka who was giving him a withering look as Misato stood back up and walked into the kitchen to feed PenPen , unsure if she should be flattered or insualted by what had just happened as she smiled to herself for she did not need to be a mind reader to know why Asuka had called Drake a pig as Asuka and Drake begain to shout at one another and soon Gwen was harping on Drake as well.

Rei walked passed her fellow eva pilots and made her way into the kitchen to get herself a glass of soya milk to calm her frazzled nerves, normaly she would have found the interactions between Drake, Asuka and Gwen intresting but what had happened to her in the washroom eariler in the day was causing her much conssern.

" Captain can I talk to you for a moment in privet? " Rei asked Misato who had finshed unthawing a carp for PenPen, " Sure Rei just give me a minute here. " she said to Rei as she put down the dish of fish on the floor for PenPen and then walked out into the hallway where Drake was losing the battle between himself, Gwen and Asuka,only because there was two of them and only one of them.

" KNOCK IT OFF! " Misato shouted at them and gave them a cold stare that ended the bickering right then and there, " If you have any homework I sugest you do it now, dinner will be ready in an hour or so. " she added and saw the slightly fearful looks on there eyes that told her they had not forgotten about the gun shot she had touched off in the car, nor would they forget about it anytime soon.

" Fine I have better things to do then waste my time with these two bitches! " Drake snarled before he started to make his way upstairs to his room.

" Drake get down here and apolgize right now! " Misato shouted at Drake who told her to bite the high hard one and stormed off to his room while uttering the most vile curses he could muster.

" Gwen, Asuka if you have any homework just go and do it, I'm not in the mood for any arugment over it the matter, ok? " Misato said and was thankful when they both agreed to do so.

" Ok Rei what's worng? " Misato asked as Rei finshed off her glass of soya milk.

" Captain I fear I am loosing my mind. " Rei said and Misato could see the look of fear in her eyes so she decided not to tell a joke about having lost her mind a long time ago and not to worry about.

" Whay makes you say that for? " Misato asked as she took a beer out of the fridge and pop it open.

" Well after I was finshed with my lunch I was starting to cry, I don't know why but I ran into the nearest girl's washroom and sat down on a toilet to do so and as I was crying a girl who was using the toilet next to me, she must have heard me crying and asked me if I was alright-" Rei said with a very tence voice that was filled with fear that had triped the alarm bells in Misato's mind, "-I lied to the girl who had asked me if I was alright but when she flushed the toilet she was using I started to laugh, I could not help it and I have no idea why I would laugh at something like that for. " Rei fisnhed speaking and Misato could see that Rei was on the verge of tears.

" Rei has this happened before? " Misato asked, even though she was no shrink she knew in her heart that Rei just might be in some big trouble and the last thing she need was for Rei to flip her lid.

" No Captain this is the frist time it has happened to me." was Rei's reply as she rung her hands in fustration.

" Rei I think you should talk to Dr.Ritsuko about this, I mean I have no idea on how to help you with this kind of thing. " Misato said as she wolfed down a quarter of her beer and just about yelp in surpise when Rei started to pled with her, " NO! anything but that please don't tell her about this I'm begging you! " Rei said with a teror ladened voice as she broke down and cried.

Misato knew that Rei was in some seriously deep trouble and put her beer down and grabed up Rei in a hug as she tried to calm the hystracal Rei, " SHHHHH it's ok Rei, it's ok I'm here shhhh shhhh. " as she rocked her back and forth as she prayed to what ever god or gods there where to give her strength to deal with this mess.

After ten or fifteen minutes of holding Rei and rocking her back and forth while she was stroking her hair Rei managed to calm down to the point where she could talk to her Misato let her go and pulled up a seat beside her and begain to talk to her some more but unknown to the two of them someone had heard and seen what had just happened and slowly left the kitchen unseen by them.

" Rei why are you so afried of Dr.Ritsuko for? " Misato asked Rei who was wiping away the tears from her frantic eyes, " I can't tell you that but please belive me it will be a bad thing for me for you tell her what has happened to me so please don't tell her. " Rei blubbered as she suddenly grabed ahold of Misato and held on to her for dear life.

* Holy shit! what the hell is going on around here? * Misato though to herself as she felt Rei's heart racing with unreasoning fear as she griped her tightly and all Misato could was to hold her close and reasure Rei that her screat was safe with her even though she had no damn idea on what to do with Rei.

" Rei why don't you go upsairs to your room and get some rest, don't worry about your homework if the teachers give you a problem about not having it done on time tell them to call me and I'll take care of the matter ok? " Misato said to Rei who was still holding on to her with such strength that she figuered she would need a crowbar to get Rei off of her.

" Promise me you won't tell Dr.Ritsuko about this? " Rei wimpered slightly as she started to slowly losen up her grip on Misato, " I'll promise you that if you promse me that you will not hurt yourself ok? " Misato said, hopeing like hell that Rei would agree to her terms.

" I pormise and thank you captain." Rei said weakly as she let go of Misato and stood up to make her way to her room.

" Ok Rei you get some rest and I'll let you know when supper is done and if you have an problems come talk to me." Misato told Rei as she stood up as well and added " Call me Misato, there's no need for protocal here. "

Rei looked at her for a moment, " Ok Cap-Misato and thank you." she said to Misato before she turned and went upstairs to take a nap as Misato had sugested.

" What the fuck is going on here?, why the hell is everyone losing there minds for? " Misato asked herself as she grabbed up her beer and finshed it off before she got the food out for the night's supper and begain to think about what was going on with Rei then she got out a few pots and pans to cook supper with.

****** Drake's Bedroom ******

Drake was sitting at a small table that both he and Misato had manhandled up to his room and was looking over his japanese class homework and was growing frustrated with the work for he was having a hard time wraping his brain around the pronucation of the words that the teacher had told him to study.

After ten minutes or so of sitting at his desk and trying to say " Good day how are you doing? " in japanese and sounding like a cat slowing being strangled he decided to take a brake and made his way down to the thrid floor and saw that the door to Gwen's room was open and for some unknown reason he walked up to the door of her bedroom and stuck his head into her room and saw Gwen siting at a desk at the far end of her bedroom and she was sitting with her back to him.

For a moment Drake thought about calling out to her to see who she was doing then decided that would be a bad idea as he then begain to wonder why the hell he had considered talking to Gwen who would more then likely chew his head off and made his way down stairs for a cup of coffee.

****** The Kitchen ******

* Why the hell is Rei flipping out for?, is she under that much stress and if so what the hell is stressing her out? * Misato thought to herself as she began to boil some tofu in a soya broth for Rei's supper when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder and just about jumped out of her skin as she spun to see Drake standing there with a puzzled look on his face.

" Geez Drake don't scare me like that! " Misato said to Drake who just shook his head, " Captain I was calling out to you but all you did was stand there and ignore me so I called out to you once more and it was same thing, are you going deaf or something? " Drake said as he gave her a questioning look.

Misato just stood there for a moment as she gave to realzie that she had been so wraped up in her thoughts about Rei and cooking supper that she had tuned out everything around her without realizing it.

" Sorry Drake I have a lot on my mind right now. " she said with a slight smrik that had left Drake standing there and giving her a * Ok what the hell is this shit? * look on his face as he listened to her.

" I see Captain, anyways I just came to get a cup of coffee before I hit the books once more. " Drake told Misato who gave Rei's supper a quick stir, " What did you want to talk to me about? " Misato asked Drake who was rooting around for the jar of insta-coffee.

" Nothing realy but I am having some trouble with my japanese homework and I was wondering if you could help me with it. " Drake said as his ego took a beating for having to ask for help, after all he had been fairly certain that he could do it without asking for help but try as he might he just could not get the hang of it.

Misato looked at him for a moment and she could see the look of slight shame on Drake's face and knew that she had an opertunty to dig into Drake's past so she decided that she would help him if she could, " Tell you what Drake after supper I'll help you with your japanese home ok? " she said to Drake who had put on a kettle of water to boil for his coffee, Drake could not help but to feel some supisstion at Misato's offer of help even though he had been the one to ask for it, " Um ok and um thanks." Drake said as he waited for the water to boil as Misato went back to making there supper.

****** Asuka's Bedroom ******

Auska was listing to the music that was pounding out of her boom box as she finshed up her math home work that Miss.Amieuoki and cused out her math teacher not because the homework was hard she cussed out Ms.Amieuoki because the homework was dull and when Asuka had gotten the homework from her math teacher, Ms.Amieuoki had been in a foul mood and took it out on her.

" Dumb bitch! " Asuka said to herself as she packed away her home work for tomorrow and did her best to relax as she listened to her boom box but she became restless as her thoughts turn to Shinji and for a mement she felt a lump in her throat as she recalled the image of Shinji laying on the classroom floor colvered in a small pool of his own blood.

" Damn it! why the hell do I feel so bad for I mean Shinji is just a foolish boy who has no back bone what so ever so why do I feel like this for when ever I think of him. " Asuka muttered to herself as she stood up from the desk in her room. " After all I am the greatest eva pilot in the world, in fact I the greatest person in the world and I don't need anyone. " she said to her empty room

" That's a lie and you know it. " a voice said from behind Asuka that caused the hairs on the back of her neck to stand on end as she slowly turned to face whoever had spoken to her and found that there was no one in her room and that she was facing the full leinght mirror that was off to one side of her room.

" What the hell!?!? " Asuka said to her refelction as a cold wave of dread washed over her heart, even though was on one to be easely spooked she found that she was frightened for some reason and not knowing what had her frightened only made it the worse for her.

" You know that what you have just said as a lie! " her reflection said as it walked out of the mirror and stood in front of Asuka who stood rooted to the spot in fear.

It took a few minutes for Asuka to get her brain into gear as she stood face to face with herself, " What the hell are you? and what the fuck do you know about me! ' Asuka said to her refelction who had an all knowing smile on her face, " I'm you and since I am you I know all that you know and feel all that you feel you silly girl. " the refelction said as she took a step towards Asuka who took a step back in response to her refelction's advance.

" I'm not a silly girl who or what ever you are! " Asuka said to the refelction in a forceful voice as she she felt her skin crwal as her refelction flashed her a slightly evil smile.

" Yes you are and you know it, you can't face the fact that you care about Shinji why is that for humm? "

the refelction said as she took another step towards Asuka who recoiled in terror as she got a better look at her refelction and saw that where the eyes should have been there was two empty pits and she could see the parts of her brain that where the eyes would be conected to.

" Fuck off you freakshow! and stay the hell away from me! " Asuka said in a fearful voice that had a hint of whining in it, " Well I'm waiting for you answer. " the apparition said to Asuka as she stopped her advance as Asuka found her back agaist the wall of her bedroom.

" WHT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! " Asuka shouted in fear as she found herself unable to tear her gaze away from the empty eye sockets of the the thing in front of her and she had to fight down the growing nusea in the pit of her stomach unless she puked right then and there.

The thing in front of Asuka shook it's head, " You damn well know what I'm talking about, ever since we saw mother hang herself we have been hiding our true feelings and keeping everyone at arm's leingth. " the eyeless thing said to Asuka who was suddenly griped by the horrorfic memeories of her past.

" STOP IT JUST GO AWAY! " Asuka screeched as tears begain to from in her eyes as the merories and feelings of her past slowly work there way into her trembbling heart.

" Grow the hell up you pitful girl or your going to die misreable, alone and forgotten! " the eyeless refelction said as Asuka fell to her knees and sobing like a baby.

* KNOCK, KNOCK....KNOCK, KNOCK *

" Asuka, it's me Gwen can I come in? "

With a surpime force of will Asuka forced the tears to stop flowing from her eyes at the sound of Gwen's voice from the other side of her bedroom door, stood up and took a quick look around her room for any sign of the thing that had just put her though her hellish trip into the past and saw that the eyeless refelction of her in most self was gone.

" Come in. " Asuka called out as she took a quick look at the mirror and saw the the refelction it held of her had eyes and she felt a great sence of relief.

" Asuka who where you talking to?, I thought I heard your voice as I came to see you. " Gwen said to Asuka who rubed her eyes a few times, " No you must have heard my radio playing. " Asuka said as she walked over to her boom box and shut it off as she fought to regain her compouser.

" Asuka are you ok? " Gwen asked as she walking into Asuka's room and saw Asuka standing there and she could have sworn that she had seen wetness around Asuka's eyes before she had rubbed them.

" Yes I'm fine. " Asuka said in a slightly snapish voice that left Gwen standing slightly shocked by the tone of Asuka's voice and she knew that Asuka was lying though her teeth but she decided not to risk there fragle friendship by calling Asuka out on that fact.

" I see, well anyways I am done with my homework and I was wondering if you where done your's if you would like to play a few games with me untill supper is done? " Gwen said to Asuka who thought about the offer for a few minutes, " Sure what the hell I'm done with my home work so let's have some fun." she said to Gwen, thankful for the opertunty to get her mind on something other then just what had happened before Gwen had knocked on her door and with that said the two of them made there way to the game room for a game of ping pong.

****** The Kitchen ******

Misato watched as her wards dug into the quick supper of eel soup treyaki fried beef, garlic fried rice and pork buns as well as Rei's tofu and soya borth soup, even since they had all moved to the new home and took on two more children Misato knew that she would have to imporve on her cullenary skills and so far none of them had died of food poisoning as Misato tried her hand at new dishes.

Drake slurped loudly as he drained his bowl of eel soup and smacked his lips, " Damn that was good, nice and tangy I must say you'll have to teach me how to make this dish. " Drake said as he reached for a pork bun and getting the usual looks of disgust from Asuka and Gwen.

" I'm glad you feel that way Drake because you will have to make dinner of all of us soon. " Misato said as she took delight in seeing the look of surpise on Drake's face.

" No shit, why is that for? " he asked as he took a huge bite out of the pork bun.

" Well all of you are going to take turns at doing chores around here. " Misato said to the four children and took note of the looks on there faces, Drake had his usual * Whatever * look on his face Rei still had her blank look on her face but Misato knew that she would help out with the chores as would Asuka but Gwen had a look of loathing on her face and she waited for the usual objection of her, " What! I have never done any menial work in my life why should I this is outragouse! " Gwen said in a huffy voice that left Drake rolling his eyes in his skull, Asuka just shaking her head in disblief at how lazy Gwen was, even though she hated house work it need to be done and so she did it to keep Misato from giving her a hard time about it, Rei, well Rei was just being Rei and showed no intrested in Gwen for she had other things on her mind at that moment.

Misato kept calm dispiste having the need to raise her voice at Gwen, " Gwen I don't want to hear anything about it, as long as you live here you will help out around the house. " she said to Gwen who was looking like she was ready to have a fit, " Besides when you are lving on your own who will look after you? " Misato added.

" You mean if any of us live to that point in time. " Drake said before Gwen could aswner back as he loaded some rice onto his plate.

" Why the hell did you say that for? " Misato asked Drake with a look of disbelief on her face.

Drake paused from his eatting and answered back, " Well from what the commander has said about this angels if me Gwen, Asuka, Rei and this Shinji guy fail to stop the angels we'll be doing nothing but being worm food if we lucky. " and Misato saw his face become grim as he continued to eat.

" That's a hell of a thing to say! " Asuka said as she glared at Drake who seemed to be unphased by her glare.

" He is right you know. " Rei said before Drake could reply in a low and slightly depressed tone of voice that was not lost on any of them and for a moment there was a stillness in the air of the kitchen/dinning room as each of them had images of death and destruction dancing though there brains.

" Enough of this! " Misato said with a hard tone of voice as she looked at Gwen and added, " Once we are done with supper you will do the dishes and I don't want to hear any complaning about it understood? "

Gwen bit her lower lip for a moment, " Fine I'll do them but don't think of a moment that I'm going to do this with any enthuasmue! " she said and begain to pout.

" Fine just do them and make sure there clean. " Misato said as she took a swig from her beer and wondered why the hell Drake had said such a thing for and why would Rei agree with him for.

For the next ten minutes or so they sat at the table and ate there supper in slince, once there where done they cleaned off there plates and put them into the kitchen sink, Misato told Drake that she would be up to his room in a few minutes to help him with his homework after she had shown Gwen how to do the dishes, once that was done the five of them left the kicthen/dinning room to do there own thing.

****** The Game's Room ******

Rei sat down at one of the racing games in the game's room unsure as to why she was there for.

Rei looked at the game called *** Death Dreby 5000 *** and on the video screen there was the picture of a scantly clad girl with long, metalic pink hair dressed in a skimpy pair of cut off blue jeans with a thin white T-shirt that was so tight that she could see the nipples of the girl as she clung to a massively mussuled man with a day-glo, puke green mohawk and a snarling face covered in bloody scars.

" So you think your tough enough to take me on? " a gruff male voice said out of the speakers that where set into the front of the chair that Rei was sitting in and she quickly looked behind her to see who had spoken to her, aprently when Rei sat down in the simluated driver's seat she tripped the game's audio interface, seeing that no one was behind her Rei looked back to the game's video screen to see the musscler man's mouth moving in time with the words that she was hearing and looked at the game with a bewildered look on her face as the image continued to speak to her.

" I'm Bad Max, master of the wasteland and I don't think you have what it takes to knock me out of the race you lilly livered snot eatting punk! " the game said as Rei blinked a few times then she her eyes narrowed a bit as the game taunted her and the tone of the game's voice started to annoy her as the game was ment to do.

* Ok then I'll show you! * Rei thought to herself as she looked over the rest of the game and saw that it was very much like the driver's side of Misato's car and for a moment Rei sat there as she remember how Misato had driven her car, * This should be easy * Rei thought to herself as she took the steering wheel in her hands and gave it a few turns to get the feel for it.

Rei then looked down at the pedals that where under her feet and was unsure as to what they did so she steped on one of them and the game's video screen changed to show the inside of a car as heavy metal music begain to blare though the speakers in the chair as the other cars zoomed past her when suddenly the chair shook as the sounds of metal scraping against metal filled her ears as one of the other cars in the game hit her car and Rei just sat there as her brain tried to procces all of this new infomation at once causing Rei a great deal of confustion.

* What do I do now? * Rei thought to herself as the other cars in the game zoomed out of her sight and she pushed her foot down on the gas pedal and the secenry around her begain to whip by her as the car picked up speed, however this was not to last for very long as her car went off the road and slamed into a rock and exploaded in a ball of fire, then game's video screen then pulled back to show Rei the remains of her car that had been reduced to a mangled heap of flaming, twisted metal.

" Hahaha better luck next time losser! " the disembodied voice of Bad Max said though the speakers and the words * Continue 20, 19, 18, 17, 16, 15, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 GAME OVER!!!! * flashed on the screen as the heavy metal music continued to play from the speaker.

Rei's eyes narrowed even more as she step on the gas pedal once more and the second race began.

As Rei's car luched forwards she turned the stearing wheel hard to the left to avoid hiting the rock that had ended her frist game and slamed into the car beside her as the chair shook voilently and the car creened to the right and slamed into a few pople that where standing on the side of the race track filling the video screen with blood as the screams of the people who became bumper bait for Rei's car filled her ears and she twisted the wheel to the left once more to avoid running down the fleeing people in front of her but over compentsaited and slamed into another car that spun out and reicocheted into another car causing a four car pile up in front of Rei's car and when she slamed into the piled up cars her car became airborn.

Rei's guts lurched slight as the game's screen spun around and around as her car came crashing down to the ground and exploaded on impact in an electronic scream of twisted and crumpled metal.

" Hahahahaha look at that toasted losser! " Bad Max said over the speaker and in Rei's ear as the game begain to count down to game over once more.

" Fuck you! " Rei snarled as she stomped down on the gas pedal to start the third race and with a squeal of burning rubber Rei's car took off and sped down the race track as she saw Bad Max's car ahead of her's, the chair shook as two car on ether side of her slamed into her car causing Rei to fall back as other cars raced past her and Rei put the pedal to the metal to catch up the the other cars that where ahead of her and when she drew up along side one she yanked the wheel to the right as hard as she could and slamed into the other car with such force that the car skidded off the track and exploaded into flames as it slamed into a rock.

" Yay! " Rei shouted enthusiasticly as she begain to hunt down another car with a grim determation however fate was not kind to her as she creened into a tight turn at full speed, flew into the air once more and landed into a computer genrated lake, as the car begain to fill with water Rei could see a school of brightly colored fish swim up to her windsheild and look at her for a moment before taking off.

" Look at the fresh fish bait har har har! " Bad Max snicked from the car seat speakers as Rei tried to strangle the stearing wheel in frustation before she stomped down on the gas pedal.

" THIS TIME YOU ARE GOING DOWN ASSHOLE! " Rei screamed as the fourth race started, luckly there was no one in the game's room to hear her otherwise thery would be quite surpised to see how much Rei was getting into the game.

* GRRRRRRRRRR! " Rei snarled between her cleched teeth as she wiped a car off the track and she continued to hunt down her nemasis Bad Max, if anyone had been in the game's room they would have been shocked by the snarling and hateful look on Rei's face a she begain to bump cars off the track left and right with such gay abandon.

****** Drake's Room ******

Drake was sitting on the chir in front of the desk in his room Misato was sitting on the edge of his bed.

" Ok Drake what are you having a problem with? " Misato asked as she looked at Drake and saw that he was uptight about something, that some had nothing to do with his homework that she was sure of.

" Well I'm trying to say, Good day how are you doing? but everytime I do it sounds all fucked up. " Drake told Misato who told him to say it so she could hear how it sounds and try as he might Drake could not say it right.

" I see well listen to how I say it and then you try it. " Misato sugested before she said " Good day how are you doing? " in japanese and it took Drake five tried to get it right.

" Very good Drake, see it's easy you have just got to try and sound it out. " Misato said to Drake before they moved on to the next problem and within the span of an hour and a half Drake finshed his japanese homework with Misato's help.

" Drake the way you have been behaving in the past few days is unacepable, you did not have to call Asuka and Gwen bitches you know. " Misato said to Drake who folded his arms over his chest at the sound of her words and from the look on his face she knew this was going to get ugly.

" That's bullshit, they started giving me a flack adatude and I was not going to take that shit from them what so ever. " Drake said in a slightly cold tone of voice, after all he was not the one who had started the arugement and he would be damned if he was going to take the blame for it.

Misato looked at Drake and she could see the look of somdering anger in his eyes, " Well if Asuka or Gwen gives you an adatude you should just walk away from them, why waste your time with them? " she asked Drake who told her in no uncreten terms that he was not going to take any lip from anyone.

" Why the hell should I put up with that shit for?, like I told you before I don't start troube so there's no way in hell that I'm going to take flack from anyone sorry but it's just not the way things are with me. " he added and from the look on his face Misato knew that he was going to be a tough nut to crack but she would do her best to get him to see she her point of view on the matter.

" I can understand that but trust me it's better if you just walk away from people like that. " Misato said to Drake who let out a snort of contempt, " Ya right sorry to say Captain but in case you haven't noticed I have to live with them so there's no way in hell that I'm going to let them get the better of me, sorry that's the way it is, I mean how would you like it if you had to live with someone who was getting in your face 24-7? "

Misato knew Drake was right on that matter but she would not be diswaded on the matter at hand, " Don't worry Drake I'll be having a long talk with Gwen and Asuka you can count on that but I realy do need to to keep the peace with them ok? " Misato said to Drake who told her that he was not going to budge on the matter and Misato knew from that moment that she was not going to get anywhere with Drake.

" Look Misato I know your doing your best to take care of us and all that so I'll tell you what I promise you that I will not start any arugements with Gwen and Asuka but I'll not back down from one if they start one with me I mean that's fair right? " Drake said as he lowed his arms from across his chest.

" Your right on that Drake, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that you don't have to resort to swaring and calling a person names in order to defend yourself from a verbal attack, I know you can do better then that.
