Part 8

Shinji Returns

 

****** The Kitchen of The House ******

 

Gwen and Asuka where sitting at the dinner table talking to one another as they waited for Misato to get up and make there breakfast while the others slept.

" Gwen did you want to go and do something after school? " Asuka asked Gwen for she was getting tired for the whole * Go to school and come home * retinue and it the weather was nice for this time of year and it would be a shame to miss out on it.

" What did you have in mind? " Gwen asked Asuka as he absentmindedly pick at the sleave of her pajama top for she like Asuka where still in there pj's but before Asuka could answer Gwen there came the sound of two sets of foot falls from the staircase and within a few minutes Rei walked into the kitchen dressed in her school uniform followed by Drake who was dressed in a pair of blue jeans and a black T-shirt that had a picture of a well drawn woman clad in a leather uniform that was on a chain leash that was held by a horned demon with the name of some rock band above the picture.

 

" Where is Misato? " Rei asked Gwen who gave her a * Get the hell away from me you freak * look as Drake put on the kettle for his morning cup of coffee, " She still asleep Rei. " Asuka said and not noticing that she had addressed Rei by her name instead of her usual derogatory names that she called Rei whenever she spoke to her when Misato walked into the kitchen and they looked at her and saw that she had wet hair, a different outfit on and a way to strange light in her eyes as she gave them a warm smile.

" Good morning!, I hope you all slept well last night. " Misato said as walked over to the fridge to get her morning beer as the children just stood there staring at her as if she was on some cheep drugs or alien had kidnapped the real Misato and left an imperfect impostor in her place depending on which of the four children you talked to.

 

" Ummm Misato are you ok? " Asuka asked as she gave Misato a very puzzled look as Misato was drinking her beer, even though Asuka could not be sure she knew that something had happened to Misato because of the radical change in her personalty but before she could ponder on the matter any further the kettle began to whistle brake her line of thought.

 

" Well kids get dressed because I'm taking you out for breakfast before I take you to school. " Misato said in a cheerful voice before she finished off her beer then turned off the stove and dumped the hot water out of the kettle, slowly the children made there way to there rooms to get dressed in there school uniforms in a slight state of shock at the seemly bizarre change in Misato.

 

****** Misato's Car ******

 

As they drove into the city each of the children where becoming slightly wary of Misato who was humming a tune as she drove the car as the fact that they where all sitting in the back seat attested to as they wanted to put as much distance between themselves and the up beat Misato, Asuka was sitting by the back door on the passenger's side of the car with Drake sitting beside her who due to a lack of much needed coffee and the way to perky attitude of Misato had made him grumpy, Rei was sitting beside Drake and was so very puzzled by the way Misato was acting and her brain was running thought a verity of thoughts that she hoped would shed some light on the way Misato was acting as Gwen who was sitting beside the back door behind the driver's seat was looking out the window for she was not to thrilled at having to sit beside Rei who unnerved her quite badly.

 

" Why so glum chums? " Misato said to the children with a smile on her face that sent a chill up there spines.

" Ummm Misato are you sure your feeling alright? " Asuka asked with a slightly tense voice for she was sure that Misato had finally cracked under all the stress that not only she but the rest of the children had placed on her, " I'm fine Asuka, trust me some day you'll understand. " Misato said with a sly grin on her face for she knew that the kids where a bit frightened with the way she was acting but she was not doing so in order to give them a fright she was still feeling good from last night's fun and games with the cucumber and the way the kids where acting because of her good mood was amusing had her feeling really good about life at that moment so she decided to have some fun with them.

 

" So where are we going for breakfast? " Gwen asked as they continued there journey into the city was slowly coming to life in the early hours of the morning.

" The restaurant we are going to is called the Welcome Restaurant, they have a really good breakfast menu, trust me you are going to like this place, it so cool. " Misato told Gwen with a bubbly voice as she gave them a big smile and just about bursted out laughing as she saw there face become grave with undue concern because she was in a good mood, * I'm sure they'll feel just as good as I am once they lose there virginity. *

Misato thought to herself as her mind summoned up some truly erotic images that would have shock most people and then giggled slightly causing the children to fear for there lives as her sly grin grew by leaps and bounds.

 

" Relax there's nothing to worry about, I'm fine trust me. " Misato said as she forced the smile from her face as she saw the looks of naked fear in there eyes when she looked into the rear view mirror.

" Misato why are you in such a good mood for? " Rei asked as her mind came up empty on there reason why Misato was in such a good mood so she thought the best way to get the answer was to ask Misato herself.

" I'll tell you when your older Rei, take my word for it I'm fine, haven't you ever seen anyone who was happy? " was Misato's reply, " But Misato I don't know what happiness is. " Rei answered back, causing Misato to frown slightly, " Rei, happiness is what a person feels when they are doing things that they enjoy or something good has happened to them such as winning a lottery or listen to music that they like or a host of other things that makes a person feel good. " Misato said to Rei who still did not understand what she was talking about and Misato could see in Rei's eyes that she still did not get it and asked her what kind of things that she enjoyed.

" I'm not sure Misato, I-I just don't know. " Rei said and there was a hint of confused sadness in her voice that was not lost on any of the others that where in the car.

 

Asuka held her tongue as the urge to take a cheap shot at Rei coursed though her mind, she did so for three reasons, one she was sure that Misato would give her holy hell for ruining her good mood by tell Rei what a ditz she was, second she was slowly starting to realize that Rei was not worth the effort it took to saying the nasty things to her as she had done in the past, lastly she was still kind of freaked out by what had happened to her last night in her room and the last words of the thing that emerged from her mirror where still haunting her mind.

 

Misato looked though the rear view mirror at Rei for a moment as she felt a strange mixture of pity and disbelief towards Rei, everyone had something that made them happy and knew it, that's why they did them.

" Rei I'm sure that there is something that makes you happy, tell you what as they day goes on keep track of what you do juring the day and if you like what you are doing then there's a good chance that you are doing that because it makes you happy. "

 

Rei looked at Misato for a moment and thought about what she had said to her as Gwen was doing her best to put as much space between her and Rei as was humanly possible in the back seat of the car not that anyone noticed this as they looked at Rei with a questioning look.

 

" Ok kido's where here. " Misato said as she brought the car to a stop in a small parking lot that had a few cars in it and they got out of the car as fast as they could, thankful to be able to starch there legs for it had been quite cramped in the car.

 

As the walked into the restaurant they where greeted by a waitress who was dressed in a 1950's outfit,

" Welcome to our humble restaurant if you will fallow me please. " she said as she bowed to them and they took there cue from Misato they bowed back to her.

" Check this place out. " Drake said as he looked around the restaurant that had rows of padded seats that where built into the walls of the restaurant like an american fast food joint from the 50's and shook his head slightly for he had never seen such a place before in his life.

 

" I found this place a few months ago when me and Kaji where cruising the city one night, the food here is terrific. " Misato in a relaxed tone of voice as the waitress led them over to one of the tables in the middle of the restaurant and smiled slightly when she heard what Misato had said about her place of employment.

 

" Who's Kaji? " Gwen asked as she sat down on one of the bench seats and slid down towards the wall so Asuka could sit beside her while Drake sat down on the bench seat across from her and slid down to the end so Rei could sit beside him as Misato sat down beside Asuka.

 

Misato blushed slightly as Gwen's question of her relationship with Kaji was hard to explain after all there where not really an item but they where lovers that much was for certain and she took a moment to think about there relationship for neither of them had really considered taking there relationship to the next level for a verity of reasons that they where aware of but it seemed to them that there was never the right time to really talk about it as there lives and there jobs kept them apart most of the time and the time they did spent together was usually spent in the sack as they made wild, passionate love to one another.

 

" Well Kaji is a man that I know quite well and..um we well you know. " Misato said with a strange hesitancy in her voice for she was unsure on how to tell Gwen that they where lovers without sounding sleazy about it for she was sure that Gwen was such a prim and proper girl that she would be disgusted at the idea of sex before marriage.

 

" Oh so this Kaji guy is the lucky one who get's to play doctor with you in the wee hours of the night eh? " Drake said a truly perverted leer that left Misato blushing and Gwen with a disgusted look on her face and there was a slightly jealous look on Asuka's face that went unnoticed by Drake and Rei well she just looked at Drake with a slightly annoyed look on her face even though she still did not fully understand human intimacie all that well she did know from the reluctance in Misato's voice that it was not something to be talked about openly as she had learned from past experience when she had grilled Asuka in the classroom about her and Shinji and what had happened after that little game of Q and A.

 

" DRAKE! " Misato half shouted as her face turned a rosy red as Asuka, Gwen and Rei gave him a dirty, condemning look as a few of the other patrons of the restaurant looked over towards them to see what the disturbance was all about.

" What? why are you so up tight about it for?, I mean you and this Kaji guy are in love with one another right?, so why hide it. " Drake said with a smile that only infuriated them all the more.

" That's not the point you don't broadcast stuff like that to the world you know! " Asuka said with a scowl even though she was wishing that it had been her and Kaji that Drake was talking about, " Can it!, I'll talk to you later about this Drake. " Misato said angrily as her face returned to it's normal color and from her tone of voice the children knew that it would be a good idea to drop it and they shut there mouths as one of the waitresses came to there table with a few menus for them and hand them one and quickly left there table not wanting to pry into there affairs.

 

As they ate there breakfast Rei looked at Drake from the corner of her eyes as she ate her rice, boiled mushrooms and tofu balls in a vegetable sauce and watched as he dug into a plate of western style pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon and she thought about how he had embarrassed Misato.

* At lest he should apologize to the captain * she thought to herself as she turned her attention back to her breakfast and found herself started to take a disliking to Drake who remained clueless to the fact that she had been watching him despite the fact that she was sitting right next to him and she began to wonder why she was starting to dislike him for when he suddenly stopped eating and looked right at Misato and there was something different about him, this was not lost on the other as they stopped eating and looked at Drake who suddenly had a strange and far way look in his eyes that seemed to turn from a deep cobalt blue to a stark white with no pupils or irises and there where black veins that where running though them.

 

" Remember this now and always to die alone, unloved and unremembered is the coldest death of them all so cherish the moments you have with the ones you love for your life can end in an instant. " he said but it was not his voice for the voice that came from Drake's mouth sounded like the voice of a very old man who was wise beyond his years and for a moment Misato and the others just sat there staring at Drake who seemed to be looking into nothingness and they could feel that there was someone completely different sitting where Drake was sitting as he continued to stare into nothingness as they hairs on the backs of there necks stood on end, then Drake starting eating again as they sat there confused by what had just happened.

 

" What? " Drake sat as he looked up from his plate as he felt there eyes looking at him and when he looked at them he could see that they had a slightly freaked out look on there faces and they could see that Drake's eyes where there normal dark cobalt blue, " What the hell are you all looking at? " Drake asked as he began to feel unnerved by there questioning stares.

" Nothing Drake, it's nothing. " Misato said as she tore her gaze away from Drake and began to eat her breakfast, Rei, Asuka and Gwen took there lead from her and returned to eating the breakfast, the sudden quietness from the others gave Drake the willies big time, * Fucking freaks! * Drake thought to himself as he began to eat a little faster then before, the others having gone bat shit on him or so he thought.

 

Once they where done eating Misato paid the bill and they made there way to the car Drake could feel the tension that was pouring from the others and it was starting to get on his nerves and decided to do something about it.

" Alright what the hell is wrong with you people, ever since we started eating breakfast you all have been giving me some really odd looks and I don't like this shit so spill it! " Drake snarled as he suddenly spun around and watched as the others seemed to jump back from him, Asuka more so then the others for what Drake has said to her and the others had effected her more so then the other as his words reminded her of the freaky encounter she had in her bedroom as they looked from the fuming Drake to Misato and back to Drake and by some unspoken agreement they decided to let Misato handle this mess.

 

" Drake do you remember what you said to us back in the restaurant? " Misato asked Drake with a hint of fear that went unnoticed by Drake who was caught up in his anger at the silent treatment he had been getting from the others, " What, about you and Kaji playing kissy face in the long hours of the night? " Drake answered back with a hint of confusion in his voice because he could not see how that had anything to do with the way there where acting towards him.

Misato gave Drake a guarded look as she wondered what kind of game Drake was playing with them, " No I mean what you said after that. " she told him and Drake gave her a very puzzled look.

" What the hell are you talking about?, after I said that I was to busy scarfing down my chow to say anything else." Drake said as his feeling of uneasiness begin to increase as he looked right into Misato's eyes to see if her could get a hint as to what the hell was going on with her.

 

Misato just about told Drake to quit playing games with her when he looked into her eyes and she could see the look of confusion and a hint of fear in his eyes and from that look she knew that he had no idea of what she was talking about, " Forget it Drake it was nothing." she said with a soothing tone of voice that she hoped would calm the visibly shaken Drake so that they could put the event behind them.

 

Drake's eye narrowed slightly as he continued to look into Misato's eyes, and saw that they had a * Please leave this alone, it was nothing really so just forget about it and let's get on with our lives * look in them.

* Fine I don't have time for this shit * Drake thought to himself, " Look I don't know what's wrong with you all but I'm still the same loveable Drake that none of you can bare to live without. " he said with a forced grin as he puffed out his chest.

 

" Just get in the car we're running late as it is. " Misato said before she went around to the driver's side of the car and got into it as Gwen made a bee line for the front passenger's seat for there was no way in hell that she was going to sit anywhere near Drake and Asuka opened the nearest back door to her and got into the car and moved over to sit behind Misato, hoping like hell that Rei would sit next to her for she was still kind of freaked out about Drake but her pride forced herself to act as if nothing was wrong, she let out a slight sigh of relief as Rei got into the back seat and sat next to her then Drake took the spot behind Gwen and closed the back door as Misato started up the car and once the back door was shut she put the pedal to the metal and tore out of the restaurant's parking lot.

 

****** Outside of Toyko-3 Number 1 Public Jr. High School ******

 

Once the car came to a stop Misato told Gwen and Drake to wait for a moment and pop the trunk open, got out of the car and went around to the back of the car then shut the trunk.

" Here you'll need these." Misato said as she hand Gwen and Drake a black tote bag to carry there school books in as they went from class to class," When did you pick these up? " Gwen asked as she looked over the tote bag and found that it was made from real leather, " I got them yesterday while you where in school, I should have gotten them for you when I picked up your school supplies but I forgot, sorry about that. " Misato sad to Gwen," Thanks Misato, there kind of cool. " Drake said with a neutral tone of voice for there had not been many people in his life that had given him a gift without expecting something in return as he absentmindedly tugged at the collar of his school uniform.

 

" No problem Drake and your welcome, don't forget you and Gwen have a sync test after school so don't make any plans, ok. " Misato said to both of them and when they told her that they'd be waiting for her after school she wished them a pleasant day, got into the car and left.

 

" Come on we're going to be late Drake said to Gwen and they took off after Rei and Asuka who where already half way to the school's main entrance.

 

****** Misato's Car ******

 

As she was driving in town Misato decided to stop off at Kaji's place to she if he was home so they could spend some time together doing what they loved to do best when her cell phone rang as she pulled up to Kaji's house and she could see him in his garden tending to his watermelon.

" Hello? " Misato said into her cell phone as she reached to turn off the car's ignition as a lusty smile crept up on her face.

" Captain I want a report on the children within the hour. " Gendo's voice said into her ear and her smile began to fade because she knew that this was not a request on the commander's part as she saw Kaji walk into his house, " Yes sir. " Misato said to Gendo with a subdued tone of voice as her thoughts about making love with Kaji turned to a low burning anger for having to face the commander when she was feeling quite horny and fate decided to be a bitch to her at the moment as her mind flashed her an image of Gendo doing her on his desk in full color and surround sound in her brain, leaving her sitting there fighting down the urge to puke as her guts flip flopped a few times as her brain continued to show her more sickingly erotic images of her and the commander.

" I'll be there shortly! " Misato said to the commander with a slight snarl in her voice as she forced the images for her and the commander from her mind and hung up the cell phone.

 

" DAMN IT ALL TO HELL THIS IS SO UNFAIR! " Misato cursed aloud as she began to turn the car around so she could return to Nerv and for a moment she could not help but to wonder if the commander was not a mind reader who had been waiting for the right time to ruin her day and sped off towards Nerv with a few vile curses hurled at the commander as a chill raced up her spine, * Note to self have Nerv mechanics fix the hole in my car's roof. * she thought to herself as she switched her mind from cursing Gendo to an eternity of sucking shit from the devil's asshole to mentally constructing a report on the children for the commander.

 

 

****** Gendo's Office ******

 

" Good morning Captain I trust that are doing well today. " Gendo said to Misato who was sitting across his desk, his hand where folded over his lower face as usual.

 

" I'm fine. " Misato said with a slight sneer, * Let's get to the point of this shit so I can leave * she thought to herself as the commander continued to stare at her from behind his tinted glasses.

" My my Captain you seem a little testy today, I hope I did not interrupt you from your boring daily retinue." the commander said as Misato sat there fuming, * TESTY! I'll show you testy when I rip your's off and shove them down your throat you asshole! * she thought to herself as the commander continued to play his assinine games.

 

" Anyways Captain shall we get to the point of his meeting? " Gendo asked as he continued to watch Misato squirm in her seat, seats that he had made especially to be uncomfortable just so he could enjoy her or anyone else's misery, " By all means let's get on with this. " Misato said as she wish for a keg of beer to at her side with a long straw in it because she needed a drink.

" So what is the status of the children? " Gendo asked as he paid more attention to Misato's eyes for a hint of anything that was amiss with the children as the game began.

" Well Sir Drake and Gwen seem to be adjusting well to there new environment but Gwen seems to be having a problem with taking responsibility for herself when it comes to doing normal everyday household chores. " Misato said as she did her best to keep calm as she went on with her report.

 

" I see and how will that effect her as an eva pilot? " Gendo asked as he sat there wishing for a nice cigar and a stiff drink as he continued to play his game with the captain.

" Well Sir if Gwen can not take reasonability for herself and do such everyday chores how can we expect her to pilot an eva reasonably and not crack under the pressure of combat." Misato said as she squirmed on the chair who's hard seat was creating slightly painful pressure points on her ass and she could have sworn that the commander was smiling at her discomfort.

 

" Hmm I suppose you are correct on that matter, do you think she will shape up in time to of any use to us as an eva pilot? " Gendo asked and in the back of his twisted mind he was toying with the idea of installing a low tempature hot plate into the chairs in front of his desk, not cause burns on anyone sitting on them but to generate enough heat to cause the person even more discomfort and listened to Misato as she continued to speak.

 

" I'm sure that she will adjust to take on more and more responsibility if I take it slow with her. " Misato told Gendo who's face was still as unreadable as ever and cursed him once more in her mind.

" I have complete confidence in you ability to whip her into shape." he told Misato and saw the desire to literally horsewhip Gwen in her eyes and smiled as his mind was side tracked down memory lane to the time he and Ritsuko where playing a * friendly * game of slap and tickle a few days ago.

" Hmm horsewhip! " Gendo muttered in a low voice that sounded like the voice of a pre-second impact, animated nuclear power plant worker with a slight mental retardation.

 

" Excuse me commander I didn't quite catch that? " Misato asked with a puzzled look in her eyes as she thought she heard the commander say something under his breath, " It's nothing you need to concern yourself with Captain, now what about the Frost boy? " Gendo asked as he forced his mind back to the main reason for this meeting between himself and the captain.

" Well Sir Drake seems to be taking to his new environment quite well however his behavior leaves much to be desired, he is antisocial, rude and has no empathy or sympathy for anyone as well as being hostile and argumentative with not only myself but the other children as well." Misato said to Gendo as her mind recalled the event at the restaurant but since she could hardly believe what she had seen she decided not to mention it to the commander who would more then like be as disbelieving as she was about the matter.

 

Gendo could see that there was something that Misato was holding back from the look in her eyes,

" Is there some else about Mr.Frost that you are holding back on? " he asked Misato with a slightly hardened tone of voice, " No Sir, it's just that I can't see Drake as being an eva pilot, he is not a team player and he does what he wants when he wants and that is going to put the other children at risk in a combat situation." Misato said to Gendo as she ignored his question and added " In fact I have to question your judgement on recruiting these two children as eva pilots, they will not make it as eva pilots and there going to put the other children at unnecessary risk and that is something we can not afford the stakes are just to high. "

 

Gendo felt his anger staring to flare up, * Who the hell are you to question my judgement! * Gendo thought to himself as he raised his left eyebrow a fraction of an inch, " My judgement is sound in this matter concerning the new children, you will continue to act as legal guardian to the children and you will see to it that they learn to work together as a team is that understood? " Gendo said a with a slight hardening of his voice and Misato knew she had made a mistake in questioning his decision to take on Drake and Gwen as eav pilots but she did not care, she had to say what she had said and damn the consequences.

 

" What about the other children how are they copping with the changes in there lives and how are the inter-acting with the new children? " Gendo asked as he deiced to fish for some answers about Rei, he could care less about Asuka as long as the greman eva pilot could continue to do her duties he would not be to concerned if she was falling apart at the seams.

 

" Well Gwen and Asuka have started to form a friendship between them even though they had some disagreements in the past few days they seem quite at ease with one another, as for Rei and Gwen it seems that Gwen is keeping her distance from Rei for some odd reason but other then that they seem to be at peace with one another, as for Drake well it seems that both Gwen and Asuka have taken a strong disliking to him and he seems to hate them both and I doubt that none of those three would help on another even if it is a life and death situation as for Rei she dies not seem to care about Drake one way or the other and Drake seems feel the same way about her." Misato took a careful look at Gendo's face to try and see what his reaction would be as she finished her long winded speech.

 

" I see, have you noticed anything amiss with pilot Ayanami? " he asked Misato as he considered what he had been told by the captain about the children and began to formulate a plan.

" No why is this something wrong with Rei? " Misato asked as she force herself to keep a neutral look on her face for some odd reason she felt that telling the commander about Rei's problem would be a bad idea and she did promise Rei that she would not tell Dr.Ritsuko and from the way Rei had been so shaken up when she told her about her problem Misato was sure that Rei did not want anyone to know about it.

 

" No there is nothing wrong with pilot Ayanami per say just that her sync rate is down and I was wondering if you had noticed anything out of the ordinary with her. " Gendo lied, despite Misato's attempt to keep her face neutral he could see in her eyes that she was hiding something and as much as he wanted to know what she was hiding from him Gendo knew that subtlety and not outright accusations that she was hiding something from him was the key to finding out what Misato was with holding back from him and there was the added bonus he would enjoy the challenge of cracking her shell.

 

Misato thought carefully on how to respond to what the commander had said to her concerning Rei and Misato knew that she would have to be careful with her words, " Any idea as to what has cause the drop in her sync rate commander? " Misato asked as she looked into the tinted lens of Gendo's glasses and not for the first time she wished he would take the damn glasses off and quit being an asshole with his consent game playing and shoot straight with her, after all there where on the same team right?

 

Wrong, Gendo was in this whole mess for his own purposes and he knew that the only way to get what he wanted was to keep everyone in the dark, " Dr.Akgai seems to think that Rei is under some kind of mental stress and she thinks that is what has caused pilot Ayanami's sync rate to drop by more then ten points. " Gendo said, his voice was a calm as the still waters of a pool of water on a windless day as he continued to look into Misato's eyes and for a moment he thought he saw her eyes narrow a fraction of a millimeter in response to his words.

" I see well as far as I can tell Rei is doing quite fine for herself despite the fact that she has seemed to have lived a very sheltered life up until she was found to pilot an eva, she never complains about doing chores around the house, she seems to have no problems in school or with any of her classes, in fact she has been getting straight A's in her classes and she seems to get along with the other children, and it seems that she is coming out whatever shell she has been living in since I have met her. " Misato said and saw the commander's left eye brow rise once more and that set off the alarm bells in her mind.

* What is you sick little game you shithead! * Misato thought to herself as her mind showed her some very obscene images of the Rei and the commander that made her blood run as cold as arctic ice.

 

" Perhaps you are not trying hard enough to see to pilot Ayanami's emotional needs after all an eva pilot's sync rate does not drop of it's own accord so she must be suffering from some kind of turmoil. " Gendo said as he put the needle to Misato to provoke a response that would give him the answers he was seeking.

 

" Perhaps I can beat it out of her or maybe I can take a few branding irons to Rei in order to get her to spill the beans. " Misato said with a smirk and a mocking tone of voice as she felt her anger towards the commander for being such an all around rat bastard.

Gendo let out a slight chuckle that held as much warmth as deep space, " What a wonderful idea, I can even lend you the branding irons and a bullwhip for I am sure that you can handle them quite well and pilot Ayanami should be quite easy to brake. " he said sickingly delightful voice and lowered his hands to smile openly as Misato's face turned a bloodless white as her eyes widened in horror at his words.

* YOU SICK FUCKER! * Misato thought to herself as her stomach lurched a few times as the commander continued to smile that cruel and twisted smile that was on his face.

 

" I'm sure that will not be necessary! " Misato said with a disgusted tone of voice as the mental horror show that her mind was showing her with the commander and Rei as it's stars continued to march onwards and it took Misato a few minutes to get her mind back under her control.

" I'm sure that if Rei is having any problems she will tell me about them-" Misato said but before she could continue the commander cut her off, " At which time you will tell me what they are right? " he said with a low, menacing tone of voice that made it clear to Misato that there was something going on between the commander and Rei that half of her did not want to know about while the other half of her felt the need to do everything and anything to keep Rei out of the commander's vile clutches.

" Yes Sir. " Misato said with a dead tone of voice for she knew that she would be damned if she would give the commander the time of day unless he ordered her to do so let alone tell that sick son of a bitch anything that was going on with Rei even if he ordered her to do so.

 

" Very good, you are dismissed. " Gendo said with a casual wave of his right hand as he mistook the tone of Misato's voice with her defeat to his will as he watched Misato get up from her seat and walked out of his office, once she was gone Gendo pushed a button under his desk and the wall in front of his desk slowly slid out to reveal two dozen full color security monitors of the whole Terminal Dogma complex though hidden cameras like something out of a pre-second impact James Bond flick.

 

" Ahh there you are! " Gendo said with a predatory smile as he pressed a button on a remote control device that filled all of the monitors with the images of Dr.Akgai's office where Ritsuko and Maya where deeply involved in a personal briefing of there own that involved a lot of leather, ropes and a fair number of adult toys and slowly undid the fly of his pants.

 

Fifteen minutes later a very relaxed Gendo Ikari watched as the game between Dr.Akgai and Dr.Ibuki ended with Ritsuko holding Maya and was slowly stroking her hair as they laid on the floor of her office.

* Perhaps little Miss.Ibuki should be included in any further personal briefings with Dr.Akgai * Gendo thought to himself as he continued to watch the two doctors as they cuddled up to one another.

 

* God damn sick son of a bitch! * Misato thought to herself as she made her way back to the Nerv motor pool where she had stashed a twelve pack of beer in the trunk of her car as more and more light was shed onto the reason why Rei was so shy and withdrawn to herself as the heart rending images of Rei being abused by Gendo filled her mind and heart with an unholy hate for the commander.

" Rei you poor girl, you poor poor girl " Misato said to herself as tears began form in her eyes.

* How could I have been so stupid as not to have seen this * she thought to herself as she opened the trunk of her car and ripped a beer out of it's case and opened it.

 

* But why would Rei be so terrified of Ritsuko for? unless she did not want her to find out about her and Gendo's little secret * Misato continued to think as she took a deep swig of her beer, when suddenly the can of beer fell for Misato's nerveless fingers and spilled all over ground of the motor pool as her mind wondered down a dark path to an even greater horror.

 

" MY GOD RITSUKO.......IT CAN'T BE! NOT YOU TO! " Misato gasped and she began to puke as her mind was filled with ghastly images to horrifying for her stressed out mind to handle as she continued to empty her stomach in record time.

After ten minutes of dry heaves Misato managed to stop her body from spasming and began to weep as her heart burst in unimaginable horror and sorrow at the hell that Rei had suffered at the hands of the commander and the woman Misato had until this point in time called a friend.

 

Misato wobbled over to the driver's side of her car, got in and sat there for a few minutes unsure of what to do as her emotions ran from horror to sorrow to an all consuming hate that would have scared any sane human being to death.

 

Slowly Misato fired up the car and sped out of the motor pool, nearly running down a few luckless workers into the motor pool who if that had been a split second slower in getting out of Misato's way they would have ended up sporting tire tracks on there bodies as they hurled curses after her with shaking fists.

 

****** Toyko-3 Number 1 Public Jr. High School Class 2-A ******

 

Asuka with chewing on the end of her pencil when she looked over at Rei and saw Drake looking at her then Rei looked over towards Drake and gave him a nasty scowl as the * What the hell is the look for * loom appeared on his face as Rei continued to glare at him.

 

* Well now what do we have here? * Asuka thought to herself as she continued to watch the face off between Drake and Rei with great interest when suddenly the door to her classroom opened and in walked Misato causing Asuka's heart to race with fear, * It can't be an angel attack can it?, if so where didn't the air raid sirens go off and why didn't Misato call us on our cell phones? * Asuka wondered as she got to her feet as did Rei while Gwen and Drake looked over to Misato as did the rest of the class.

 

" Rei come with me, don't argue just do it. " Misato said in a grave tone of voice that left everyone in the classroom wondering who this person was and what did she want with Rei.

" Misato is it an angel attack? " Asuka called out to Misato who looked like hell, " No Asuka there no angel attack so just sit down and go back to your class. " Misato said as she looked back to Rei who was walking towards her with a very puzzled look on her face after she had gathered up her books.

 

" Excuse me but what is the meaning of this disruption? " Mr.Hugoa asked as Misato and Rei where walking towards the door to the classroom, " I'm Rei's legal guardian and this has nothing to do with you! " Misato said with a sharp voice that caused Mr.Hugoa to flinch slightly as she turned and told one very confused Rei to come with her and then they left the classroom.

 

Drake looked over to Gwen with a * What was that about * look on his face and Gwen shook her head as if to say * Your guess is as good as mine * then they both looked over to Asuka who shrugged her shoulders as Mr.Hugoa called for the class to return to the lesson but try as they might Gwen Asuka and Drake could not pay attention to the lesson as they sat there and wondered why the hell Misato had come into there classroom and took Rei way.

 

****** Misato's Car ******

 

" Captain why have you taken me from my class? " Rei asked Misato who she saw had a strange look on her face that was streaked with dried tears.

 

" I'll explain everything to you when we get home Rei. " Misato said with a tone of voice that held rage, disgust, wariness and stress in equal measures that gave Rei a bit of a fright, " Have I done anything wrong? " she asked Misato as her voice shook with fear, " No Rei your not in any trouble. " Misato told Rei with a soothing tone of voice as they continued to drive back to there home and she could see the questioning look on the young albino's face and told her to relax.

So all Rei could do was sit there and wonder in great fear as to what was going on as her stomach churned with each motion of the car as they continued there drive home.

 

****** The House ******

 

When Misato walked into the house she told Rei who was walking very slowly behind her to have a seat in the living room as she walked into the kitchen to get a beer.

 

* What does the captain wanted with me, why am I here?, WHY? * Rei thought to herself as she sat down on the couch as she bit her lower lip in dreading fear.

When Misato walked into the living room she saw Rei sitting on the couch and she had her hands in her lap, Misato could see that Rei's hands where trembling in fear, " Rei you can relax you not in any trouble, you have done nothing wrong. " Misato said to Rei as she sat down beside her on the couch.

" Then why am I here, why have you taken me out of my classroom for? " Rei said with a begging tone in her voice as she began to fidget on the couch.

Misato took a long pull from her can of beer and gave Rei the most assuring look that she could muster.

" Rei I need to ask you some very difficult questions, do you think you are up to answering them? " Misato asked and saw a grave look appear on Rei's face and waited for Rei to answer her, unsure on how to ask such deeply personal and shameful questions.

* Has she found out about me! * Rei thought to herself when she heard what Misato had said to her and her blood ran cold and despite her best attempt she could not keep herself from trembling in gut wrenching fear and saw Misato's face grow dark as she watched her with a look of dread on her face.

* God damn it! * Misato thought to herself as she continued to look at Rei who was shaking in fear and she could see the young girl's eye started to mist up.

" Rei I really have to ask you these questions and I tell you here and now there not going to be easy to answer so do you feel up to answering them? " Misato asked as she took another drink from her beer and felt like shit for having to put Rei on the spot but she had to know the answer to her questions.

 

" I-I-I'll try to answer your questions Captain. " Rei said in a soft fear ladened voice as she forced herself to look Misato in the eye.

" Ok then Rei what I need to know...is why do you fear Dr.Akgai for, has she done something to you? " Misato asked and the words where like ashes in her mouth as she tried to keep herself from flying into a rage at the sight of Rei who was so badly frightened that she looked like she was going to wet herself and at the same time try to asked her questions in such a way as not to frighten Rei any more then she was.

 

Rei took a deep breath held it and let it go after a few seconds as she tried to force herself to calm down,

" What do you mean by that Captain? " Rei asked Misato who had a foreboding look in her eyes as Rei called her captain instead of her name, knowing full well that Rei was on her guard.

" Has...Dr.Akgai...touched you in a way that...you didn't like? " Misato said to Rei in a hushed voice and was dreading the answer she was going to receive to her question.

 

Now Rei had a confused look on her fearful face when she heard what the captain had asked her for she could not understand what that had to do with the dark secret that was part and parcel of her existence.

" It's ok Rei you can tell me. " Misato said in a soothing and reassuring tone of voice as she mistook the look of puzzlement on Rei's pale face for a look of hesitance.

" Captain I don't understand what you mean by that question, can you be more in depth? " Rei asked as her fear lessend slight only to be replaced with more confusion at Misato's question, " Has Dr.Akgai touched you down there? " Misato said as she pointed at Rei's crotch.

Now Rei was toldly confused by Misato's question and she asked one of her own, " Why should she have touched me there? " she said to Misato with an innocently puzzled look that floored Misato.

" No, she should not have! " Misato said with a slightly shocked tone of voice at Rei's question as she looked further into Rei's eyes to she of she was lying to her but saw that she was not and began to relax a bit.

 

" Has the commander touched you there? " Misato asked as her tension returned to an all time high for she was sure that commander was child molesting son of a bitch that should be shot and pissed on.

" CAPTAIN! THAT'S DISGUSTING! " Rei half shouted as a metal image of the commander sticking his fingers into body filled her mind and she felt the need to vomit but managed to hold her breakfast down as she glared at Misato evilly for daring to suggest such a thing to her, " How could you say such a thing! " Rei added as she began to get mad for some odd reason that she did not understand.

Misato recoiled a bit from Rei at the hostile in her voice towards her but she could see that Rei was telling the truth that the commander had not laid a finger on her and she felt as if a great weight had been lifted from her soul.

" Thank god your ok Rei. " Misato said as she hugged Rei close to her, giving Rei a slight scare as her confusion turned to apprehension at Misato increasing erratic behavior.

 

" Misato are you ok, you have been acting strange ever since this morning. " Rei said to the captain as she let go of her and Rei could see the look of emenence relief on Misato's face, " I'm fine Rei, it just that the commander said something to me as we where talking about you and the other children that had me really worried about you. " Misato said as she picked up her can of beer that she had set aside to hug Rei and

finished it off.

 

Rei looked at Misato and her fear returned once more once she had heard what Misato had said about the commander and her, " You didn't tell him what had happened to me at school did you? " she whimpered in such fear that Misato felt her heart skip a beat or two, " Shhh Don't worry Rei I didn't tell him a thing but he told me that your sync rate had dropped by ten points and he was wondering why that had happened. " Misato said to Rei who began to relax but still had a confused look on her face, " Misato I did not know that my sync rate has dropped, if it has I do not know why. " she told Misato with a worried tone in her voice.

" Don't worry about it Rei I'm sure it's only a temporary thing, after all everyone has an off day every now and again. " Misato said to as she reached out and gently tussled Rei's hair with a warm smile that caused Rei to relax a bit.

" Why don't you go and relax a bit, don't worry I'll give you a note tomorrow explaining that there was a personal emergency and that's why I took you out of school so you won't get into any trouble ok? " Misato said to Rei who nodded her head in agreement, " One last thing Rei keep this discussion between us ok? "

she added as Rei got up from the couch, " Ok Misato I'll do that. " she told Misato when suddenly PenPen walking into the living room with a cucumber in one of his flippers, sniffed it once and looked at Misato and Rei.

* Wark? *

" PENPEN, give me that! " Misato said as she got off the couch and stanched the cucumber from PenPen who was giving her a confused look as her face went thirty shades of crimson with embracement.

 

Rei who had studied sex though pornography began to blush a bit as she put a hand over her mouth to hide a slight chuckle for she knew full well what the cucumber had been used for and made her way upstairs as Misato continued to scold a slightly shame faced PenPen for sneaking into her room while she was out.

 

****** The Lunchroom of Toyko-3 Number 1 Public Jr. High School ******

 

Drake walked over there where Gwen and Asuka where sitting and dreaded having to talk with them but what had happened in there classroom when Misato had come and taken Rei away with no explanation had been driving him bug shit even though he did not know why that was he had a feeling that Asuka and Gwen might have some kind of an answer as to that was going on with Rei and Misato.

 

" Hey how are you doing? " Drake asked Asuka and Gwen as he sat down with his lunch at there table and they gave him a dirty look, " What do you want Drake? " Asuka asked in a slightly snarly tone of voice that he decided to ignore, " Look Asuka back off I just came here to ask you if Misato usually comes into our classes and takes one of us away for whatever reasons. " Drake said in a lifeless tone of voice as he began to eat his lunch.

Asuka gave him a wary look as she watched him for a moment, " No Drake I don't have any idea why she took Rei away." Asuka said and waited for Drake to take another bite of his lunch before she added

" Worried about your girlfriend? " said to Drake in a sarcastic tone of voice that caused him to choke on the mouthful of food he was chewing.

* Cough, cough, cough * " DAMN IT ASUKA KNOCK THAT SHIT OFF! " Drake snarled under his breath once he caught it, " Rei is not my girlfriend and she never will be got it! " he added as he gave Asuka the look of death, " Why are you asking us about it then? " Gwen chimed in to stop Asuka and Drake from starting a fight, Drake continued to stare at Asuka who was giving him an equally deadly stare before he turned to face Gwen who's face was unreadable at that moment.

" Because we're all eva pilots and we have to watch out for one another for crying out loud! " Drake told Gwen who continued to give him an unreadable face.

 

" I'm sure that Rei is fine and if she is not it is none of our business to get involved. " Gwen said to Drake who gave her an evil scowl, " Your hopeless, both of you. " he said as Gwen began to get a bit huffy and Asuka decided it was time to tease Drake a bit more.

" Oh sure sure that's what you say but I know that you have the hots for Rei and your all upset that Misato took away your girlfriend before you could profess your undying love for her. " Asuka said to Drake with an evil cackle as she saw the look of disbelief on his troubled face.

 

* Ok you bitch you want to play like that do you? * Drake thought to himself as he got ready to let Asuka have it when he suddenly got a brain wave.

" Asuka I have told you that Rei is NOT my girlfriend. " he said in a raised tone of voice that caused a few of the other students to look over towards them.

" Shut up will you! " Asuka said as her face started to turn a bright red as she felt the eyes of the students watching them, " You want to know why? " Drake asked with a truly sick smile on his face and added loudly for all the students to hear, " It's because I loooove you and Gwen, I just want to take you two to my room and put it to you both so hard that you two will scream my name! " with a sappy voice and began the metal count down to the time he had to escape from the two shocked girls and ten seconds later there outraged shrikes of disgusted denial filled the air of the lunchroom as Drake grabbed his tray and ran from the table, laughing like a lunatic as Asuka and Gwen began to chase after him with the intention of kicking his ass as the rest of the students cheered him on and despite there best attempt they could not catch him as he sped out of the lunchroom and amazingly he had not spilt his lunch.

 

When the coast was clear Drake walked back into the lunchroom to find a place where he could eat his lunch without being seen by Gwen and Asuka where were not being taunted mercilessly by the other students, so much so that they had to leave the lunchroom, shamed faced and there lunches unfinished.

 

As Drake sat down to eat his lunch he could feel the stares of the other students that rested on him and ignored them as he began to eat his lunch when he spied Touji, the class rep Hikari and Kensuke sitting at a table, he took a moment to watch them.

He saw that Touji was talking to Hikari while Kensuke was reading from a book as he ate his lunch and decided to leave them alone and got back to his lunch.

 

****** The House ******

 

Misato was walking towards the bar room when she heard some noise coming from the game room and what she thought was Rei's voice, so she walked over to the door of the game room, opened it slightly and looked in to she Rei sitting at some kind of racing game and when the game shook she saw a predatory look in Rei's eyes as she yanked the mock steering wheel to the right.

 

" Well I'll be damned, I never thought Rei was the type to enjoy video games. " Misato said to herself as she continued to watch Rei for a few minutes then walked into the bar room and got herself a fresh beer and noticed that there was only two beers left, " Well looks like it's time for another beer run. " Misato as she crack the beer open and took a health swig from it, she then looked at the watch she was wearing on her left wrist and saw that it was just about 1:00pm.

 

" Rei I'm going to get some beer is there anything you want? " Misato called out to Rei after she had left the bar room and walked back into the game room.

Rei had so wrapped up in the game that when she heard Misato call out to her she just about jumped out of the game's chair in surprise and wiped out her car.

" SHIT! " Rei half shouted, causing Misato to smile at the sound of Rei swearing because for some odd reason she found it amusing.

 

" Rei I'm going to the store for some beer is there anything you want? " Misato said again as Rei gathered her wits about her, " I am running low on soya milk so I will need some more of it. " Rei said to Misato with a slightly sheepish grin on her face, for she had considered her resent interest in the Death Derby 5000 game to be her little secret for some odd reason as a * BUSTED! * look appeared on her face as she told Misato what she needed.

" Ok Rei, did you want to come along for the ride? " Misato asked as she took a long pull from her beer.

" No I'll just hang out here. " Rei said to Misato with a really seen smile on her face, " Ok Rei have fun and give'm hell for me. " Misato replyed as she polished off the beer.

" Give who hell Misato? " Rei asked in confusion that became more pronounced as Misato started to laugh.

" Nothing Rei, have a blast, I'll be back shortly and then she walked out of the game room still chuckling to herself over Rei's question, * That girl has got to learn what a figure of speech is when she hears one. * Misato thought to herself as she walked down stairs and was ambushed by PenPen who was holding his food and beer dish in each of his flippers.

 

* WARRRRK! *

 

" Sorry PenPen but you'll have to wait until I get back because we're out of beer, besides it's to early in the day for your beer. " Misato said to PenPen as she ruffled his feathers causing the slightly PO'ed penguin to let out a wark that said " Come on I know you have a beer or two stashed some where around here, come on baby fix me up will ya!, I'm dying here. "

 

" Sorry PenPen, I'll fix you something to eat when I get back. " Misato said to PenPen who started to walk away, dragging his dishes in a sulking dejection, * That crazy bird! * Misato thought to herself as she shook her head in bemusement before she made her way to the car and drove into town.

 

****** Some Beer Store in Tokyo-3 ******

 

" That'll be 566.78 Yen. " The casher at the beer store said to Misato as he rung up her order of three cases of twenty-four beer, took Misato's money and gave her the change before she called to her assistant to help Misato with her cases of beer.

" There you go Miss. " the assistant said to Misato as he finished loading the beer into the trunk of her car and bowed politely and Misato returned the bow before he walked back into the beer store with the dolly that he had used to wheel the three cases of beer from the store.

" Hmmm I might as well go and see Shinji before I return home. " Misato said to herself as she opened one of the cases of beer and took one out for the road then shut the trunk of her car, once she was behind the steering wheel of her car she cracked the can of beer open and shotgunned down a hefty swig from it as she thought about Shinji for a few minutes before she started up the car after she put the can of beer into a cup holder beside her seat and made her way towards Geo Front.

 

****** Nerv Mental Health Ward ******

 

" Hi Misato. " Shinji called from his bed as he put down the book he had been reading as Misato walked into the room.

" Hi Shinji how are you doing? " Misato said as she walked over and hugged Shinji, " I'm ok just sitting here and chilling out. " Shinji said to Misato as they left go of one another and Misato felt a surge of confusion for there was something different about Shinji and she could not place what it was.

 

Shinji saw the look of confusion on Misato's face and asked her what was up with that and when Misato told him that there was something different about him he smile, " Well ya there something different about me, a man does not go thought what I went though and stays the same. " he said to her with a slightly cold tone of voice that set the hairs on the back of Misato's neck on end.

" Are you sure you're ok? " Misato asked as she felt like she was looking at a complete stranger for there was something about the way Shinji was talking to her that made her a bit nervous.

" Yes I'm fine, changed but fine. " Shinji said as he saw the wary look on Misato's face and for some odd reason he was not to concerned about it, " So how about springing me from this place? " he added as he sat back down on the edge of his bed, Misato was now cretin beyond any shadow of a doubt that there was something very amiss with Shinji for he was talking and acting quite differently then he had been before he was injured, " Are you sure you are up to coming back home? " Misato asked him as she sat down on a chair that had been brought into the room since the last time she had visited Shinji.

" You know Misato I have been asking myself the question a lot these last few days and to tell you the truth I have no idea of I'm ready to return home but I'll you this I am going crazy in this place and I want out before I go insane, these doctors are starting to get on my nerves and I'm going to do something bad if they continue to annoy me with there constant questioning. " he said to Misato as he cracked his nuckles to drive the point home.

 

Misato was now very worried about Shinji for he had never been as aggressive before as he was now and she could see a hardness in his eyes that she had never seen before ever since she had taken him under her wing, " Shinji if you are to come home I need to know if you are going to go after Asuka and Rei for what they did to you because if you are then I have to refuse you and I don't want to do that. " Misato said to a slightly puzzled Shinji, " You know Misato I never thought about that, on one hand I should make them pay and pay dearly for what they did to me, I mean I doubt you would be forgiving to any one who ripped one of your ovarys out of your body, but on the other hand if I did go after them then that would make a bad situation all the worse right? " Shinji said to Misato as he gave the idea of taking revenge on Rei and Asuka for hurting him some deep thought or so he pretended to for Misato's benefit as he allowed the look of thoughtfulness to appear on his face.

 

Misato thought about what Shinji had said to her for a few minutes as she continued to watch him with trepidation, " Shinji I know that you are a good kid, don't let this ruin your good heart, I'd be so upset if you turned mean because I care about you so much that I-I-I'ed....." Misato but was unable to finish was she wanted to say as a swirling storm of emotions began to run rampant in her troubled mind.

Shinji looked at Misato for a moment and he felt a lump from in his throat because he knew that if he did anything to harm Rei or Asuka he would betray the unspoken trust that both he and Misato shared between them, " Look Misato I can't promise you anything right now because I have so much on my mind right now that I need to do something about it or it will drive me mad. " Shinji said to Misato as he began to rethink his whole life for it had be changed so much that he could not really make any long range plans for his life.

" I guess what I'm trying to say is that I need some time to myself to try and get my life in order but I can't do that here. " he added as they continued to look at each other as they minds began to reconsider the nature of there relationship between them.

 

With a prayer to god Misato made a dissection, " Ok Shinji I'll get you out of here, I hope that you will be ok back home, if you have any trouble you will come an talk to me all right because you always know that you can come to me if you need to. " Misato said as she walked over to Shinji and hugged him tightly as she felt her eyes began to mist up a bit as Shinji returned her hug with equal intensity.

" Thanks Misato I knew I could count on you. " Shinji said as he relished the warmth of there embrace as it soothed his mental anguish like a balm on a bad burn.

 

After a few minutes they broke there embrace and Misato told Shinji to gather his things as she went to find Dr.Newman and work out Shinji's release into her custody.

 

****** Outside of Toyko-3 Number 1 Public Jr. High School ******

 

Asuka and Gwen where standing off to one side of the parking lot to there school while Drake was standing a few feet away from them, when they had met after there last class of the day both Gwen and Asuka where yelling at Drake for embarrassing them in the lunchroom and Drake simply told then that they had brought it on themselves for say that Rei was his girlfriend then he walked away and tuned them out which only served to infuriate them all the more and after a few minutes of trying to get Drake's goat and failing they decided to ignore him.

Half an hour later Misato's car pulled up to where standing they could see a young man sitting in the front seat of Misato's car.

" Hey Asuka who's that with Misato? " Gwen asked as they watched Misato and the young boy get out of the car and when no answer was forth coming Gwen looked at Asuka who was standing beside her with a strange look on her face as Drake walked over towards them and stood beside them and took notice of the look on Asuka's face.

 

" Hello I am Shinji Ikari, it is nice to meet you. " the boy said to Drake and Gwen as he bowed towards them.
