Part 10

A Change For The Strange

 

****** Shinji's Room ******

 

 

Shinji opened his eyes and found himself staring at a blue ceiling as the mist of sleep slowly receded to the back of his mind, * An unfamiliar but welcome ceiling * he thought to himself as he looked at the ceiling for a few minutes more as his brain began to kick into gear.

 

After getting out of his bed Shinji got dressed and made his way downstairs to the kitchen and saw one very bleary eyed Drake drinking from a cup, Rei was sitting at the far end of the table rubbing some sleep from her eyes while Gwen and Asuka where sitting beside one another and where talking about school and behind them all was Misato who was standing over a stove and was cooking.

 

Shinji felt his guts rumble at the sight of Misato cooking, half in hunger and half in slightly nauseated fear at what horror it would be subjected to by a way Misato's cooking, Shinji shook his head and started to sit down in the middle of the table, sniffed the air of the kitchen and found to his delight that what ever Misato was cooking smelled good." What are you cooking Misato? " Shinji asked as he yawned.

" Scrambled eggs and hash browns, don't worry it's edible and there's enough for you as well." Misato said over her shoulder as he sat down at the table.

 

" Drake are you ok? " Shinji asked as he took a closer look at Drake who looked like he had been rode rough shod over by an entire calvary battalion save for his school uniform was not ripped or trampled looking.

" Unh not really, had a bad night last night " was Drake's reply as he continued to drink from his cup as Asuka and Gwen gave him a * So what, why should we care. * look that was ignored by all in the kitchen,

" Asuka would you mind getting some plates and silverware out for everyone? " Misato said as she put aside the frying pan full of scrambled eggs and started on the hash browns.

Asuka was about to ask Misato if she looked like maid but decided that it was to early in the morning for an argument and made her way to the cupboards to get some plates then made her way over to the silverware drawer to get some forks, once she had them she began to set them around the table.

 

" Thanks Asuka. " Rei said when Asuka set down a plate and a fork in front of her, this caused Asuka to stop for a moment in amazement, amazed by the fact that Rei had thanked her for something, " Sure, no problem. " Asuka said as she recovered her wits and went about setting the table.

" CHOW TIME! " Misato said as she brought the frying pan of scrambled eggs the table and began to serve everyone save for Rei then once that was done she went around the table with the frying pan of hash browns and served them out and put a few extra ones on Rei's plate as Drake sat down at the table and began to dig into his breakfast as did everyone else save for Rei who gave Misato a questioning look.

" Misato you know I can't eat animal products of anything with animal products in them. " Rei said as she watched Misato's smile grow a bit more wider.

" Don't sweat it Rei, hash browns are made from potatoes try'em I think you will like them. " she said to Rei who broke a bit of the hash brown squarer off with her fork, raised it to her mouth and hesitated for a moment before she popped the forkful of hash brown into her mouth and began to chew it.

 

" Well what do you think? " Misato asked as she watched Rei sallow the chewed up hash brown, " It is strange-" " You got that right. " Asuka said under her breath as she continued to eat her breakfast as she gave Rei a dirty look. "- but I think I like it. " Rei said as she speared another forkful of the hash brown and quickly popped it into her mouth and began to chew it quite rapidly as Shinji, Gwen Asuka and Drake watched her with a look of slight puzzlement on there faces, finding it hard to believe that Rei had never eaten a hash brown until now.

" Yes I like it, thank you Misato. " Rei said after she swallowed her second bite of hash browns on her plate,

" Glad you like it Rei, I'm going to fry you up some soya flavored tofu to got with your hash browns so make sure you save some room. " Misato said to Rei and a cheerful voice that had four of the six people in the kitchen thoroughly confused by her cheerfulness and would cause Gwen more confusion later in the day when she would go to try and make a salad for herself only to find that one of the main ingredients for said salad was missing, Once Misato finished making the rest of Rei breakfast she served it to Rei and then fixed herself up a plate.

 

Shinji looked at the food on his plate with a suspicious look in his eyes as he dug his fork into the scrambled eggs and took a quick look at everyone else and saw to his surprise they where all eating Misato's cooking without complaint, * Either they have cast iron stomachs or Misato's cooking has improved dramatically * he thought to himself before he ate the forkful of scrambled eggs and just about spat them out due to his surprise that they tasted good, damn good in fact.

" Misato this scrambled eggs are great! " Shinji said to Misato in a happy and surprised voice, happy because his stomach was going to be spared from near terminal food poisoning and surprised at just how well Misato's cooking skills had improved since he was away.

" Ah shucks it's nothing, I'm glad you like them. " Misato said in a happy voice as her face turn a slight shade of red due to her embarrassment at Shinji's praise and patted herself on the back for a job well done and the fact that she had given Shinji some much needed delight as she watched him tear into his breakfast like he had been living on nothing but bread and water for a year or so.

 

Misato watched as the children continued to eat and did her best to keep on smiling, even though she had a long and pleasant night before deep in the back of her mind she was worried about what they day was going to hold in store for her as she looked at the calendar, she took a swig from her beer then took a deep breath and decided to get on with the matter at hand.

" Guess what? " Misato asked as she took another drink from her beer and watched as all eyes turned towards her, " What is it? " Gwen asked as she finished her hash browns, even though she was still annoyed at the lack of high class food that she was use to she had to admit that Misato's cooking was good and waited for the answer to her question.

" Today is a civic holiday so that means no school today." she said and saw the looks of glee on the faces of Gwen and Asuka and the looks of relief on Drake and Shinji's and the dead pan look on Rei's face.

then Misato dropped the hammer on them, " I have to go to work soon and I won't be back until very late to night so I- " " YOU MEAN YOUR LEAVING US HERE ALONE!? " Asuka in horror as she looked at Drake

* BAM! * Drake slammed his fork deep into the table top, stood up quickly and pushed his chair aside with a clatter and raced out of the kitchen, his face a mask of stone and the fires of hate in his eyes.

* I don't need this shit! * Misato thought as she and the rest of the children save for Shinji had watched as Drake took off and they could hear his foot falls as he raced up the stairs, Shinji was looking at Asuka and Rei with an evil smile on his face * Perfect! * he purred under his voice and quickly hid his smile under a shocked look as Misato looked back at them.

 

" Just stay away from him and he'll stay away from you. " Misato said to Asuka who had a * Who the fuck are you trying fool! * look on her face, Gwen had a fearful look on her face for she did not want to be anywhere near Drake being the lunatic that he was, Rei's face was still unreadable but there was a look of concern in her slightly shock widened eyes that was not lost on Misato, Shinji had deeply concerned look on his face that made Misato feel overly protective of him.

" I'll have a talk with Drake before I go. " Misato said in the calmest voice she could muster even though she was upset with the way Asuka had handled that news that she would be gone most of the day she could not blame her though and began to think of something to calm them all down.

" I don't know about the rest of you but there is no way in hell I'm staying in this house alone with that nutcase! " Asuka said as she got up from the table, " I agree with Asuka it would be an unwise thing to be here alone with the violent degenerate. " she said with a fearful voice and she too got up from her seat.

* DAMN IT DAMN IT! * Misato thought to herself as she looked over to Shinji who told her that even though he did not know Drake all that well his was not going to put his life in jeopardy by trying to befriend him if he was a dangerous person.

" I do not like Drake, his is a violent person and I will not risk my life by trying to trust him. " Rei said as she too got up from her seat and gave Misato a look that said she was sorry that this was the way things where but it was the way it is.

 

Misato felt a sudden fury take hold of her because the children where not giving Drake a chance to prove himself to them but she had to take into consideration there safety as well, she finished her beer in one go, slammed the can down on the table and took a deep breath to get herself under control.

" Look I don't blame you for being worried about your safety but Drake has been though a hell of a rotten life, worse then anything that any of you have endured and he's having a hard time come to terms with what has happened to him, if we don't give him a chance to have any kind of a normal life he is going to kill himself and if he does it will be us who had failed him and his blood will be on our hands! " Misato said in a slight hard tone of voice, hoping like hell she was not being overly melodramatic with what she had said and continued on.

" Drake has known nothing but pain, fear, misery and mistrust though out his life, you all should be thankful that none of you had to live though the hell he has. " Misato said as she got up from her seat and walked into her bed room to get her purse, leaving them standing there to think about what she had said and came back into kitchen and gave each of them a hundred and fifty yen each.

" If you don't want to be here, go into town and try to have some fun and leave Drake to me. " she said to them and put her purse down on the table and quickly made her way upstairs to check on Drake and hoping like hell that he could be reasoned with.

 

Rei, Gwen Shinji and Asuka stood there in the kitchen with the money in hand and had no idea on what to do next when suddenly there came the sound of Drake screaming from upstairs that chilled them to the bone with a blood curdling fear.

 

" DIE! MOTHER FUCKERS! " Drake screamed as he cut down a person with a hail of heavy machine gun fire that turned the person's body into a leaky piece of meat that fell to the ground in a spray of blood.

" RAAAWWWRRRR! " Drake snarled as he launched a grenade into a crowd of masked terrorists then sent body parts flying into the air as he swung his machine gun to his right and hosed down a feeling woman and lost a life point as his unholy rage continued to twist his mind and soul unmercifully.

 

The door to the game's room swung open and Misato saw Drake standing at a shooter video game and just about wetted herself at the sight of his face that was twisted with hate and rage it frightened her badly and jumped slight as he let out a snarling yell as he waved the video game's machine gun left and right as the sounds of heavy weapon's fire and explosions mingled with the sounds of dying people.

 

Misato stood there unsure as what the hell to do as she watched Drake let out a bestial yell as he continued to wave the machine gun back and forth as a blinding pace.

* Good God!, what the hell is going on here! * Misato thought to herself as he stood there and it came to mind that Drake was using the video game as an outlet instead of venting his anger on some one else or himself and that gave her the thin sliver of hope that she might be able to reason with Drake but she reached for her gun just in case the shit hit the fan.

 

* OH FUCK! * Misato thought to herself as he realized that she had left the gun downstairs in her bedroom, as Drake slowly turned to face her, Misato failed to notice the warm trickle that was running down her right leg as she saw his terrible eyes that where as red as blood with no pupils or irises that glowed with unholy fire as he slowly hunched over and was growling at her with his teeth bared and his hands hooked into claws.

 

" Drake! " Misato squeaked out in a high pitched tone of voice as he took a small step towards her, his whole body shaking with barely controlled energy for the lack of a better term for what she was seeing was beyond rage, hate or anger or even madness and from the look on his twisted face with the veins of his head and neck standing out like iron cords Misato could tell that it was taking all of Drake's will power not to attack her as his human side vied for with his animal side for control of his body.

Suddenly Drake threw back his head and let out such an agony filled scream that made all the lost souls in hell seem like as wispier that Misato had to put her hands over her ears to try and block out the sound and watched as Drake dropped to one knee and slammed his right hand into the floor with such force that the floor under the carpeting gave way under the powerful assault as a * CRACK! * as loud as a rifle shot filled the tense air of the game's room.

 

Misato could not move a muscle as she was rooted to the spot in fear as her heart skipped a few beats, Drake was breathing deeply and there was sweat dripping from his face, slowly Drake weakly lift his head and looked a Misato who found herself looking into his deep cobalt blue eyes with such a look that there where no words for it as Misato found herself looking not at his face or his eyes but his very soul.

Misato watched as Drake slowed down his breathing and sat down on the carpeted floor of the game's room with blood gushing from his right hand.

 

" Drake? " Misato asked wearily as she just came to notice the wetness that ran down her right leg but ignored it for the time being because of the strange look on Drake's face.

" Phew!, I needed that " Drake said in a voice that was calm, gentle, almost serene as a smile played across his face.

Now Misato was freaked out and backed up a step as Drake got up off the floor, " Relax I'm fine, really I am. "

Drake said as he took a step towards Misato, " HOLD IT RIGHT THERE! " Misato said in a raised voice and just about dropped a log when Drake came to a stop as her mind tried and failed to understand what the hell had just happened, " What the fuck just happened? " Misato asked in a shaken voice as she tried to recover her scattered wits about her.

 

Drake looked at Misato for a moment with a slightly confused look on his face, * What the hell is going on around here?, one moment I'm having breakfast and the next thing I know I'm here with a busted hand, I hope I didn't hurt anyone * Drake thought to himself as a worried look came across his face that made the hairs on the back of Misato's neck stand on end for it was far outside of anything she had ever encounter in her life and she was lost and unsure as what to do next.

 

" Misato did I hurt anyone? " Drake asked as his brow farrowed in deep concentration as he tried and failed to recall the event in between the time he was in the kitchen and to this point in time.

 

Misato looked at Drake for a moment to see where his head was at and to her surprise she no longer felt threatened by him, " No you didn't hurt anyone, are you sure your ok? " she asked as her mind failed to make heads or tails of what was going on with Drake.

 

Drake let out a relived sigh when he heard what Misato said to him, " Other then the pain in my hand I feel fine in fact I fell better then fine, I feel fan-fuck'en-tastic. " Drake said with a bright smile that made Misato smile for some really odd reason.

 

Misato let out a slight laugh, " Let me see your hand for a moment. " she said to Drake who walked over towards her, holding his right hand then held it out for Misato to look at.

Misato slowly took Drake's right hand in her hands and slowly turned it over a few times and saw that his knuckles where bleeding a lot and watched his face twist up in discomfort as she gently press down on his knuckles one at a time, " Sorry. " she said to him as she continued to check him out, " Well there doesn't seem to be anything broken, come on down stairs and I'll wrap it up in some ice. " Misato said as she smiled at him for some odd reason, maybe it was because of the look of peace in his eyes that made her happy for he had been though so much in his past and he deserved some peace of mind but whatever the cause may have been she felt better because of the sudden change in Drake.

Drake look down for a moment for some odd reason and saw a small puddle on the floor then slowly looked up Misato's body and noticed the wet sheen on her right leg and then the damp spot on her crotch and decided he did not want to know what had taken place juring his black out and quickly looked at one of the video games.

" Thank I'd like that. " Drake as he looked back at Misato who's face was turning a dark red for she had seen Drake look up from the floor and over her body and knew that she had wetted herself, " Let's go, there's nothing else here to talk about right? " hopping like hell that she would take the hint to let this matter drop.

" Ok let's go. " Misato said and mentally thanked him for not pursuing the matter any further as she forced herself to stop blushing and the two of them made there way down the stairs.

 

Shinji, Rei, Gwen and Asuka where standing in the kitchen as Misato went upstairs and waited for they where unsure if they should leave now or went Misato came back down stairs and they felt fear slowly working it's way into there hearts as they continued to wait when they heard a terrible, inhuman scream that would haunt them for the rest of there days followed by a loud crack from above them that sent a chill racing up there spines as the fought down the urge to run for there lives as there brains showed them bloody images of Drake being shot by Misato, his brains splattered along a wall, even though two of the children hated him they did not wanted to see him dead as well as the one child who merely disliked Drake nor did the one child who was unsure of what to make of Drake but if Drake had been shot they would not give Misato any flack over it because they knew full well that Misato was not all that trigger happy or so one of the children thought as they waited with fear for whatever was to happen to happen.

 

" Ok Drake I'll met you in the kitchen in a few minutes. " they heard Misato say as she was coming down the stairs and as much as they wanted to race over to her and ask her what was going on they just couldn't as they stood there trying to understand what had happened up stairs as Misato cut though the living room to her bedroom to change into a fresh pair of panties and paints but was delayed by PenPen who though his penguin senses had known something strange had happened but before he could ask Misato stepped around him and into her bedroom when Drake walked into the kitchen and stopped up short as they saw the fearful and questioning looks on the faces of the other children and just stood there looking right back at them as he held his bloody right hand in his left hand as tension began to fill the kitchen.

 

Misato walked into the kitchen and saw the stand off between Drake and the other children and defused it by calling Drake over to her as she fetched out a first aid kit from the top of the fridge and saw out of the corner of her eyes the way Rei, Asuka, Gwen and Shinji moved aside so he could get pasted them and saw the grave and fearful looks on there faces, * Got to think fast here otherwise they will never trust one another. * she thought to herself as she wrapped up Drake's right hand but had no idea on how to or what to say to get the children talking to one another so they could try and patch things up between them.

 

Gwen felt slightly sick to her stomach when she had seen Drake's bloody hand and wished nothing more then to leave the kitchen but she found that for some odd reason she could not as she saw the strange and tired look on Drake's face and she looked over to Asuka to try and see what she thought about this situation and from the slightly angry and fearful look on Asuka's face Gwen knew that Asuka was not to happy with being in the same house as Drake let alone the same room, but what she could not figure out was if Asuka disliked Drake that much why was she still hanging around for.

 

Shinji watched as Misato started to wrap Drake's hand in a gauze bandage and saw Drake's Rei like face change to a winch as Misato continued to wrap his hand, * What have you been though, what has made your life a living hell like mine? * Shinji asked himself as he continued to watch the show being played out before him and as he watched he came to a decision, he would try and befriend Drake if he could after all Drake and him had one thing in common, there lives bit the high hard one.

 

Rei watched as Misato continued to dress Drake's wounded hand and every time he winched she felt nothing what so ever but she looked at his bandaged hand and saw that his shirt sleave was rolled up a bit and saw the scars that ran across his lower forearm she cocked her head to one side and she became interested in how he had gotten the scars for some reason and the sight of his almost bandaged hand reminded her of the first time she had met Shinji and was almost forced to pilot Unit-01 when Shinji had refused to do so even though she had been badly injured and was in hellish pain and she lost herself in her inmost thoughts as she watched Misato put the finishing touches on Drake's bandage.

 

Asuka was delighted to see that Drake was hurt and she though to herself that he had done it to himself to get some undeserved sympathy from Misato and was starting to get mad, * That son of a bitch, how dare he played the bird with the broken wing! * she thought to herself as Misato got an ice pack out of the freezer and gave it to Drake to put on his hand and was about to tell Drake to quit being such a suck hole and deal with the pain, " * WHAT THE HELL!!!!! * Asuka thought as she watched Drake give a surprised Misato a hug and thanked her for looking after him as if nothing wrong had happened, * I bet the pervert is going to try and cop a feel on her ass! * Asuka thought to herself and was quite surprised that Drake had not tried to cop a feel on Misato's heart shaped ass as he hugged her.

 

" Look kids I have got to go I'm late as it is so if any of you are going out be back by six 'o clock. " Misato said as she picked up her purse and took out three hundred yen and handed it to Shinji, " Order a few pizzas or something for dinner and you had better behave yourselves or I'm going to be very pissed off. " Misato said as she made her way out the door.

" Don't worry Misato everything will be fine here. " Shinji said as Misato stopped turned around and looked at the children and said a quick prayer in her mind that none of there where going to kill each other, when she looked at Drake she saw that strange and almost peaceful look on his face and for some reason she would trust him that he would not go after anyone.

" Ok have fun kiddies! " Misato said with a false smile and a forced cheerfulness in her voice as she made her way to the car.

 

After they watched Misato drive off to work they all stood there in front of the house with the same thought in mind * What the hell do we do now? *

 

Drake looked at the others, " Later. " he said and made his way up to his room to do some heavy thinking and did not look back at the others because the last thing he needed at the moment was a fight with Asuka or Gwen.

" Come Asuka let's go shopping. " Gwen said, hoping like hell that Asuka was game for a little shopping expedition, " A hundred and fifty yen is not much, but I do know of a little shop that has some need stuff in it. " Asuka said with a lighter tone of voice and the two girls made there way to the front door, thankful to be getting out of the house and away from Drake laving Rei and Shinji in the kitchen.

 

* Get after them but don't get caught * Dark Shinji wispiered into Shinji's mind for they had both agree last night Asuka was going to be the first to pay what had happened to him and as they agreed the first thing they need to know was what Asuka and Rei hated the most for that information would be the keystone in there plan for revenge, " I'm going for a walk Rei so do what ever your going to do but be sure to be back here by six ok. " he said to Rei in a flat tone of voice that baffled the albino for she was not use to the way Shinji was talking to her, when ever they had spoken to one another Shinji's tone of voice was for the most part upbeat and positive, " I'll be here at that time. " Rei said to Shinji in the same quiet and to the point tone of voice that was starting to get on Shinji's nerves but he forced himself to say nothing about that lest he give Rei any hint that she was in for some kind of payback for having lost his left nut as well as to confuse her by the change in the way he talked and acted towards her.

" Right see you then. " Shinji said and made his way out of the house leaving Rei standing there and looking at the money that Misato had given her alone in her thoughts.

 

****** The Streets Of Tokyo-3 ******

 

" So where are we going Asuka? " Gwen asked as they made there way up the street unaware that they where being followed.

" The store is called the Golden Frog, it's a strange little place but they have some really neat stuff there. " Asuka said to Gwen as they turned a corner, " What kind of stuff? " Gwen asked as she forced the events of the morning behind her and found herself excited by her first shopping trip in Japan.

Asuka looked over at Gwen and smiled, " This place has all sorts of stuff ranging from clothing to charms and other really strange things from all over Japan. " she said to Gwen with an upbeat tone of voice and by some unspoken agreement the two girls agreed not to talk about what had happened back at the house.

" Really?, I can't wait to see this place! " Gwen said with a big smile on her face and the two of them began to talk at length about what was in the store they where going to and what they might hope to find at the Golden Frog as Shinji stuck to them like a shadow was he smiled to himself for he was rather enjoying the thrill of stalking the two girls even though Gwen was not a target to him he considered her a bonus and would enjoy digging up what ever dirt he could on her, * After all you never know when such information may come in handy you know. * Dark Shinji said to Shinji who nodded his head in agrement as they both continued there pursuit of the two girls and they both wondered how long they could keep up there game of stalking before they got busted.

 

" Here we are Gwen! " Asuka said as she pointed towards a fairly large store that had a giant gold frog with it's mouth open as the doorway to the store, " What a tacky looking place. " Gwen said to Asuka as she began to have second thoughts about enter such a place, from the look of the store it seemed to Gwen that it was a store with only common items that a lady like her would never be caught dead buying them.

Asuka had a fairly good idea of what was running though Gwen's mind, " Hey Gwen this might not be a department store for the rich but it has some really cool stuff in it, so let's go! " she said to Gwen who had a

* If I must * look on her face as the battle between preserving her dignity as a lady of high society that did not go slumming around in such low class places and the excitement of shopping was fought in her mind, it was a foregone conclusion after all the power of a woman and shopping was only slightly less powerful then the total energy of an N^2 mine, with a smile they made there way into the store.

 

* This is to easy. * Shinji thought to himself and Dark Shinji who was about six inches tall and sitting on Shinji's right shoulder agreed with that thought after all it had been surprisingly easy to tail the two girls who where so clueless to there surroundings as they talked to one another.

" I wonder what there are looking for, I bet it's something pointless much like them. " Shinji wispiered to himself and with that thought in mind he crossed the street and made his way into the Golden Frog to continue his covert surveillance of Asuka and Gwen.

 

****** The House ******

 

Rei was finishing her glass of soya milk when PenPen came into the kitchen and looked at Rei who looked back down at him, " What do you want? " she said to PenPen with the same slightly cold and to the point tone of voice that she used with everyone.

" WARK! - Hey you, the funny looking girl I want a bath. " PenPen said to the strange quiet girl with the funny hair and eyes, even though he did not know her all that well he kind of liked her after all the large female human that fed him most of the time seemed to like her so that made the strange girl alright in his book.

" I'm sorry I don't understand what you want. " Rei said to PenPen who was cocking his head from side to side as he looked at her,

" WARK-I told you I want a bath, what's wrong with you are you deaf or something? " PenPen said and when Rei looked away from him he decided stronger measures where needed to get his point across.

 

" WARK!-Pay attention to me when I'm talking to you! " * PECK * PenPen said as he pecked Rei in the ankle.

" Stop that! " Rei said as she looked down at PenPen and moved her right foot away from PenPen who by this time was starting to get annoyed with Rei's continual ignorance of his needs and pecked her again in the same spot on her ankle this time with a little more force then the first peck had.

" WARK-Don't make me angry, there's nothing more frightening in the world then an annoyed penguin! " PenPen said as he gave Rei a snarling frown.

Rei got up from her chair and backed away from PenPen as the strangeness of his behavior made her wonder what was wrong with him, " What do you want? " she said to PenPen who by this time was starting to get a quite huffy with her " WARK-Do I have to spell it out for you?, are you truly that stupid?, after all the large female that lives here knows what I need so what's the problem here? " he said to Rei then he got and idea and pointed down the hallway from the kitchen.

Rei looked down the hallway where PenPen was pointing, " You want to go there? " she said to PenPen who slap himself in the head in disbelief at Rei stupidity.

" WARK-Go down the hall and I'll show you want I need." PenPen said to Rei as he pointed down the hallway once more.

Rei looked down the hallway then looked back at PenPen once more, " You want me to go down the hallway? " Rei asked PenPen who nodded his head a few times and then walked part way down the hallways and turned to see PenPen following her and cocked her head to one side as she tried to understand what it was that PenPen wanted and when the penguin pointed down the hallway once more Rei walked down the hallway with PenPen waddling behind her.

 

" Do you want out? " Rei asked PenPen when they came to the front door and he gave her a * You dumb bitch what do you think I am a dog? * look and shook his head and pointed up the stairs with his left flipper and Rei looked at him for a moment and thought about why he wanted her to go up the stairs for when the forty watt blub flickered to life in her mind, " Do you want a bath? " Rei asked and watched as PenPen blinked his eyes a few times, " WARK-YES!, Geez it's about time you figured it out. ", then looked at a part of his flipper where a human wrist would be, * Three minutes and five seconds not bad for an orangutan! * he thought to himself and then nodded his head, " Ok then why did you not say so for. " Rei as she picked up PenPen who gave her a * What the fuck?, I did tell you I wanted a bath * and rolled his eyes in disbelief as they made there way up the stairs.

 

Once they got to the third floor Rei put PenPen down and opened the door to the bathroom as PenPen waddled over to the bathtub, he would have used the one in Misato's room but ever since he had found the cucumber in her bedroom and she pretty well freaked out on him PenPen knew that her room was off limits and in case your wondering how the hell a penguin knows what a bathtub is for you have to take into account that he had been living with Misato for awhile but that did not mean that Misato had shown him what a bathtub was for, no in addition to having a taste for beer thanks to Misato PenPen was also a sawed off pervert to boot who had been spying on Misato every time she took a bath, even though Misato was no female penguin she had all the right curves in all the right places so PenPen thought as Rei began to run a bath for him, once the tub was full PenPen was about to step into the tub he saw that Rei was still sitting by the faucet of the tub and was looking at him with an odd look on her face and he chased her out of the bathroom so he could be alone with his thoughts of Misato.

 

Rei stood outside of the bathroom after having closed the door as PenPen chased her out of the bathroom to escape form the pecking he was giving her, * What an odd creature, how does Misato deal with such a temperamental bird? * she thought to herself then looked around the third floor and was about to make where way down to the games room when suddenly her feet took her in another direction.

 

****** The Golden Frog ******

 

" Hey Gwen check this out. " Asuka called out as she picked out a two piece swimsuit as Gwen was looking at a pair of white shoes and looked over towards Asuka and saw the swimsuit, that's really nice Asuka it suits you. " Gwen said as she looked over swimsuit and saw that it was a light powdery emerald green.

" It's not for me, I think it would look better on you, I don't like green. " Asuka said as she handed the swimsuit over to Gwen who held it up to her body and looked over it, in the aisle next to there Shinji was spying on them and with the aid of the hundred and fifty yen that Misato had given him he had purchased a set of super ears that allowed him to hear every word the two girls where saying.

" Humm that's interesting, so Asuka does not like the color green,even though she does like salads. " Shinji wispiered to himself as he continued to listen in on the girls.

 

Gwen took the swimsuit and walked over to one of the dressing rooms to try it on and after a few minutes she came out of the dressing room and was looking in the mirror on the dressing room door, " What do you think Asuka? " Gwen asked as she slowly turned around give Asuka a good view of her body.

Asuka look Gwen over and saw that for a spoiled rich kid she was in fairly good shape, Gwen had a slender waist, her breasts where about the same size as hers and but noticed that Gwen's butt was a bit bigger then her's but had the good graces not to point it out, " You look good in it Gwen, I bet the boys are going to just drool at the sight of you in it. " Asuka said and saw Gwen's face turn a bright shade of red at her words.

 

" Don't tell me your shy. " Asuka said with a grin on her face, " Hey don't tease me, I'm not shy but I don't like it when boys look at me with there lusty gazes, especially that one boy in our classroom. " Gwen said with a slight whine in her voice, * Gwen does not like to tease boys with her body?? * Asuka thought to herself and her guts churned at the thought that Gwen might be a dirty dyke.

 

Gwen saw the change on Asuka's face and asked her what was wrong and Asuka told her that she was missing out on the fun of teasing boys with her body to cover up her thoughts about Gwen.

" It's not that I hate boys it's just that I think the right one for me should love me for my mind as well as my body after all I'm not some slut that sleeps with anyone, my prince charming should pure and chaste and he should be financially well off. " Gwen said and Asuka rolled her eyes.

" Give me a brake Gwen, you'll never find a man like that! " Asuka said and on a whim she asked Gwen who the boy was that she disliked in there class and after describing him to her Asuka started to laugh.

" What's so funny? " Gwen asked in a slightly upset voice, " The boy your talking about is Kensuke Aida, one of the three stooges I pity you. " Asuka said as she put a hand over her mouth to keep from laughing at Gwen's predicament and mentally thanked God that Gwen was not a lesbian.

 

" Well what do I do about him? " Gwen asked Asuka who told him that she should play up on Kensuke's feelings for her to get what she wanted from him or if she did not want to do that to embarrass him and tell him to get lost then Gwen went back into the dressing room and changed back into her clothes.

 

* Well now as Kensuke's friend I should warn him about this. " Shinji thought to himself and decided that it was time to make tracks and quickly left the Golden Frog leaving Gwen and Asuka to there little shopping spree as he and Dark Shinji talked to one another on how to make Asuka's life a living hell.

 

 

****** Drake's Room ******

 

Drake was laying on his bed and looking up at the ceiling of his room as he tried to understand what was going on with him, * First I'm sitting in the kitchen the next thing I know I'm in the game's room with a fucked up hand and feeling like I'm on some cheap drugs then I see that Misato had pissed herself and that's a scary thought because I bet that she's as tough as nails, so what the hell happened in the time between me being in the kitchen and then being in the game's room? * he thought to himself as he looked at his bandaged right hand and felt his heart sink for he was never one to hurt himself deliberately.

* I'm I losing my mind or what? * Drake asked himself and half fearing that he would get an answer that would tell him that he was as nutty as a chistmas cake.

" Excuse me pilot Frost can I speak to you for a moment? " a voice called out to the right of him, snapping Drake out of his deep and slightly fearful thoughts as he quickly sat up on his bed and saw Rei standing at the top of the staircase that led to his room.

 

Drake looked at her for a moment as she walked into his room like she owned it and sat down on the chair in front of his desk after she had turned it to face him, " Come on in and make yourself comfortable. " Drake said with a sarcastic tone of voice as he fought down his anger towards her intrusion into his room and began to wonder what on earth she wanted to talk about.

" There is no need for sarcasm pilot Frost. " Rei said to Drake as she studied him for a moment and in the back of her mind she could not help but to wonder why she was wanting to talk to him for.

 

Drake looked at Rei for a moment before he let out a snort annoyance, " Look it's not polite to walk into some one's room uninvited you know. "he said to her as he felt uncomfortable by the strangeness of Rei and her odd eyes that where looking him over, " Fine then I'll leave. " she said to him and got up from the chair.

" Since you are here sit down and tell me what's on your mind. " Drake said to her as he tried to figure out what the hell it was that Rei wanted from him as his stomach flip flopped a few time in nervousness as Rei looked at him for a moment with her face as unreadable as ever before she sat back down on the chair and continued to look at him unblinkingly.

" Pilot Frost are you in pain? " Rei asked him as she continued to study his face and eyes to see where his mind was at and cocked her head to one side as his face twisted up in confusion to her question.

 

* What the fuck is she getting at? * Drake thought to himself as his discomfort under her piercing stare began to make the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end and he decided to play it cool with her.

" What you mean this? " Drake said as he held up his bandaged right hand and forced a macho smile on his face, " It throbs a bit but I would not say it's painful. " he added and Rei put her hands on her lap and leaned forwards a bit in the chair, " That's not what I mean pilot Frost. " she said to Drake who's face changed to a confused look once more, " Misato told me that you have then though some pain in you past. " she said before Drake could said a thing to her and was surprised by the sudden change in Drake as his sat up straight and balled his hands into fists and his face became a mask of rage as his eyes shot wide open.

" What the hell did that loud mouth said to you! " Drake snarled as he felt a stab of betrayal, even though neither he or Misato had talked about keeping the scars on his body a secret he was under the impression that Misato respected him enough not to blab about what he had shown her in the Nerv cafeteria to every Tom, Dick and Harry.

 

Rei could see the burning anger in Drake's eyes and from the look on his face and sound of his voice she could tell that he had entrusted Misato with some dark and terrible secret of his past and thought that she had betrayed his trust in her, " Misato only said that you had been though a painful past but she never got into detail about that, when she was bandaging your right hand I saw the scars on your right forearm, that is why I am here. " Rei said and watched as Drake gave her a mistrustful look and she continued to look into his dark cobalt blue eyes and waited for him to speak as she suddenly felt a strange nervousness in her gut that she could not explain.

 

Drake looked right into Rei's blood red eyes and saw that there was not feelings in them save for a sense of curiosity with in the look of innocence on her pale face that seemed to dispell his raging anger at such a personal intrusion into his life and it took Drake a few minutes to gather his badly shaken wits about him.

" Look Rei that's not something I want to talk about, all of that is in my past and I want it to stay there for I'm having a hard enough time deal with the here and now you know." he told her and watched as Rei's face became deeply thoughtful for a moment.

" I understand, I to know about pain pilot Frost I...." Rei was starting to speak but for some reason she could not as her mind recalled at the pain she had been though when ever she piloted her eva.

 

Drake just sat there and looked at Rei who had the look on her face like she was reliving some kind of trauma in her past and suddenly Drake began to understand a little more why Rei was they way she was and his anger died out as she looked away from him.

" Rei are you ok? " Drake asked as he felt a strange tightness in his chest as he continued to watch Rei who slowly looked up at him and he could see such a deep since of misery in her eyes that he was stunned by it.

" Pilot Frost this is pain when ever I pilot my eva and that's all there is in my life, I have nothing else so...."

Rei started to stay to Drake but she could not finish her words as she was swamped by the painful memories of her short life and the vast despair at the emptiness of her life that stabbed at her where every fluttering beat of her troubled heart.

 

"Rei...I...I....." Drake sat there unable to say a words even though he so desperately wanted to but every time he tried they died on his lips as he saw Rei's eyes growing misty before his eyes and cursed himself for thinking that his was the only life that had been lived in utter misery as he saw the look of wretchedness form on Rei's face.

 

Slowly Drake got up from his bed and slowly walked towards Rei in small nervous steps as his mind and heart where thrown into utter chaos by the sight of Rei who was trying to hold back an ocean of tears as her head hung slow in abject dejection, Drake crouched down beside Rei and slowly reached out with his right hand and hesitated as if he was going to burn his hand if he touched her.

" Rei I don't know what to say. " Drake said in a lifeless wispier as he tilted her head with two of his fingers under her chin and when he looked into her blood red eyes he could see suffering beyond his comprehension in them as his breath caught a few times in his lungs.

 

When she felt Drake touch her and when she looked in his eyes she could see such a profound sense of misery and loss to match her own and her heart painfully skipped a few beats as she continued to stare into his eyes as her mind failed to understand what was happening to her nor could she understand what was happening to Drake as they found themselves looking into each other's souls and found them to be a perfect mirror image of the other and not knowing it.

 

Shakily Drake reached out and hugged Rei close to him and he could feel her heart beating ageist his chest as a strange dread filled his mind at the thought of Rei pushing him away from her but Rei did not reject or embrace him and she started to cry on his shoulder, when he heard her crying great chocking sobs he felt his throat become as dry as sand and there was nothing that he could do at that moment but crouch there and hold Rei as his own feelings despair took hold of his mind and soul.

 

When she felt Drake's arms reach out and hold her close to him Rei broke down and started to cry and she was half mad with sorrow and half mad with fear for what was happening to her and the misery that could live in another human being as she looked into Drake's eyes before she started to cry when she felt Drake's heart skip a beat and there was a wetness that touched her shoulder and with a gasp she realized that Drake was crying on her shoulder as the sounds of his sobs filled her tormented soul with a misery beyond anything that she had felt in her entire life and as much as she wanted to hold him she found that she could not and this only served to cause her mind and soul more agony.

 

* Why do we suffer for why must there be nothing by misery and despair in our lives? ! * Rei thought to herself as the tears continued to flow from there eyes, then with out any kind of warning she grabbed Drake and her quiet sobbing became wails of hellish anguish at being exposed to suffering equal if not greater then her own that caused Drake to clutch at her as dying man would the last few seconds of his life.

 

Drake knew that this was some freaky shit that not only he was going though but Rei as well when suddenly every fiber of his being, his mind, his quivering heart and agony plagued mind shifted from himself to Rei and he knew that this was something beyond the two of them as his mind tried to stop crying, he noticed how cold the skin of Rei's tear streaked cheek was that was pressed into the side of his neck as she held him so tightly that he thought he was going to suffocate when his mind started to go blank and all he could was stare off into a place beyond all of creation.

 

Rei noticed that Drake had stopped crying and some kind of force that she could not fathom compiled her to look Drake in the face as her own tears began to subside, as she moved her head from his shoulders she placed her hands on his face and felt the warmth of his face in her hands as she moved to face him and the moment she locked eyes with his time slowed down to a stop and the world around them seemed to fade away into nothingness and all she could do was stare into his eyes as a strange sense of peace flowed over her troubled soul.

 

When Drake looked into Rei's eyes all the pain and misery that he had endured in his life became nothing but a half remembered nightmare that was easily forgotten about and without knowing how he knew it he could tell that Rei was feeling the same thing that he was at that very moment, slowly he took a hold of Rei's face in his hands and saw something that could never be explained by a human being in a billion years and it was good as the two of them remained where they where for who knew how long.

 

****** The Streets Of Tokyo-3 ******

 

" So where do you want to go now? " Asuka asked Gwen as they walked down the street with there purchases in hand.

" I would like some tea do you know of a good tea shop around here? " Gwen asked as they came to an intersection Asuka shook her head but they decided that they had plenty of time on there hands so they walked around for awhile until they came to an out of the way tea store.

 

Once they where inside they found a table to rest at and waited for the waitress to come to there table.

" Boy I'm tired. " Gwen said as she pretty well melted into the chair she was sitting on, " Tell me about it, shopping his hard work but fun though. " Asuka said as the waitress came to there table and gave them both a small tea menu and waited for them to make there order.

Once they gave the waitress there order Gwen began looking though the stuff she had brought as did Asuka while they waited for there tea to arrive.

" What do you think of this ring I got? " Asuka said as she held the small ring case up that she had opened and in it was a gold plated ring with a turquoise stone in it, " It's matches your eyes. " Gwen said as she looked over the ring and even though it was a piece of costume jewelry it was well made and it did not look trashy.

" So what else did you get? " Asuka asked as Gwen resumed digging though her bags of goods, " I got this dairy book. " she said to Asuka as she held up a black book that had a picture of a dove on a sepia background flying over a shinto temple set in a mountain scape.

" You mean you keep a dairy, I have not kept one since I was about ten years old. " Asuka said as she took the dairy book from Gwen to look it over then handed it back to her as the waitress came back to there table with there hit tea, after they paid the waitress they poured themselves a cup of tea and really began to relax, " I find that keeping a dairy helps to put things into perspective, it helps me to write down my thoughts sometimes and I lost my other one before I came here. " Gwen said to Asuka after she finished taking a sip of her oolong tea.

" That's true but I found that it really did not matter to me if I did write down my thoughts as I was growing up so I just stopped when I was ten. " Asuka said as she took a drink from her green tea.

 

" Say Asuka what's the story with Shinji is he a good eva pilot? " Gwen asked, after all she would have to go into battle with him at some point in time and she felt she needed to know if she could count on Shinji doing his job.

Asuka let out a small humpth before she answered Gwen's question, " Shinji is a mediocre pilot, he knows enough to keep him alive but ever since I came to Japan to pilot my eva I have had to pull his butt out of the fire so meany times I have to wonder if his selection as an eva pilot was not some one's idea of a bad joke, after all there is no way he could ever come close to matching my skills as an eva pilot. "

Gwen took another sip of tea before she spoke to Asuka who had a very self satisfied smile on her face.

" If he is such a bad eva pilot why don't he fire him? " Gwen asked as she thought about what Asuka had just told her about Shinji.

" They should but since he's the commander's son he gets to stay on as an eva pilot, I bet you if he was not the commander's son they could have kicked him out of Nerv after the first battle he fought, but it is strange in his first battle he had a sync-rate of over forty percent, I guess there just keeping him on as a back up to me and that ditz Rei. " Asuka said as she down played the fact that Shinji had a higher sync-rate then she had juring the first time she had piloted an eva.

 

" I see, what can you tell me about Rei?, why is she such a cold person for? " Gwen asked as she refilled her cup as she felt a slight chill race down her spine as she pictured Rei's face in her mind.

" You mean wonder girl?, it's a wonder she's an eva pilot, I mean her eva is only the prototype eva and she's so..I don't know what the hell she is, I mean the first time I met her and introduced myself she brushed me off and when I suggested that we be friends you know what she said to me, * Only if I am ordered to. * Asuka said as she did a fairly good imitation of Rei's voice as she quoted her.

 

" No way, does she get along with anyone at all? " Gwen asked in disbelief before she took a sip from the fresh cup of hot tea. " I doubt it the only one she get's a long with is the commander and that's just creepy I mean she looks at him like he's god or something, maybe she got the hots for him if you know what I mean." Asuka said to Gwen who turn a dark shade of green at the metal images that came to her mind thanks to what Asuka had said to her as Asuka rambled on, " She was starting to get chummy with Shinji before he was..." Asuka was saying before Misato's dire warning about talking about Shinji's injury came to mind and she clammed up so fast that one could have sworn her eyes where spinning.

 

This was not lost on Gwen who gave Asuka a questioning look, " Something you want to share with me?" Gwen asked as she finished the last of her tea and began to refill her cup from the small tea pot that the waitress had brought her, " Umm no it's nothing really so forget about it. " Asuka said with a strained smile on her face and Gwen gave her a * Ok whatever. * look and took a sip of her tea when suddenly a strange urge to tease Asuka came to mind as Asuka was taking a drink of her luke warm tea, " So I guess it's safe to say that you don't consider Shinji as a boyfriend? " and watched as Asuka blew the mouthful of tea out her nose, " ARE YOU CRAZY!, I'D NEVER DATE THAT...THAT..BOY EVEN IF HE WAS THE LAST MAN ON EARTH! " Asuka screamed at the top of her lungs as a tea dribbled out of her nose and Gwen cringed in mortal terror as the patrons of the tea shop looked over towards them to see what the ruckus was about but there was something in the tone of Asuka's voice that made Gwen wonder if what Asuka had just broadcasted to the world at large was true but seeing the look of outrage on her face Gwen decided very quickly to drop that matter, " Asuka sit down your embarrassing me! " Gwen hissed at Asuka who came out of her hissy fit and quickly looked around the tea shop to see everyone was staring at her.

 

Asuka quickly sat down at the table and was about ready to crawl under it as her face turned reader then her hair and for a moment there was silence in the tea shop before the other customers went back to drinking there tea, some of them where laughing at Asuka's explosive outburst.

" Can we go now. " Asuka said to Gwen in a small voice as her face continued to burn with shame as she felt like a horse's ass, " I think it's time to go. " Gwen said as her face turn a bright red as well, quickly the girls gather up there things and left the tea shop as fast as they could as there faces continued to grow red with embarrassment.

 

****** In Another Part Of Tokyo-3 ******

 

Shinji was sitting in a coffee shop drinking a cup of coffee instead of his regular cup of tea, both he and Dark Shinji had decided that a change of pace was needed, " So we figure out what else Asuka hates and play up on that? " Shinji said to Dark Shinji who was still sitting on his shoulder, not noticing that he was talking out loud causing the other customers to give his table a wide berth not that Shinji or Dark Shinji gave a flying fuck at a rolling donut about it.

" Yes Shinji we will play up on that but we must be quick about it though, the longer this goes unpunished the worse it will be for us. " Dark Shinji said as Shinji began to rack his brains out in trying to recall everything he had learned about Asuka to pin point every dislike she had.

" I know but we have got to make sure of everything we do otherwise we'll never get under her skin before we really drop the hammer on her. " Shinji said as he took another swig from his coffee and dropped his mug that shattered into a hundred shards of porcelain as the coffee spilled all over the floor as a truly sadistic idea came to mind and he ran out of the coffee shop like his ass was on fire, leaving the workers and the customers wondering what the hell his problem was.

 

As Shinji was racing though the streets of Tokyo-3 he had a very evil smile on his face as did Dark Shinji who was in full agreement with Shinji dastardly plan as they came to a pharmacy after spending a few minutes of searching the pharmacy's aisles Shinji found what he had been looking for and to his delight he found that he had enough of the spending money that Misato had give him after he had brought his super ears and paid for the item he had been looking for, Shinji looked up at the clock on the pharmacy wall and saw that it was 5:45pm and he knew he would have to hurry to get home before Asuka and Gwen as well as the others if they had left to carry out his evil plan and began to jog home after he left the pharmacy.

 

****** Misato's Office ******

 

Misato was just finishing up the last of the complaint reports from the privet sector that had roundly chewed her out for the colossal amount of property damage that had occurred juring the last battle with the angels and it had taken her six hours to sort it all out.

" I'm glad that's over with. " she said to herself as she leaned back in her chair and began to mental unwind her overworked brain when suddenly a chill raced down her spine as of some one had dumped a bucket of ice water down her back as a line from her all time favorite pre-second impact SF movie came to mind,

* I have felt a great disturbance in the force. *

" Oh shit now what? " Misato asked herself as she began to feel a profound sense of apprehension.

She got up from her chair and made her way down to the cafeteria to get some tea to relax her as she wondered what had her on edge.

 

****** The Streets of Tokyo-3 ******

 

Asuka and Gwen where sitting in a park and they where giving each other shit for causing the other embarrassment in the tea shop, after a few minutes of playing the * Who's To Blame * game they both called for a ceasefire.

" Wow look at the time. " Gwen said as she pointed at the digital clock that was in the middle of the park next to the large pond and it read 5:51pm, " I guess we had better get moving or where going to be late for dinner. " Gwen added and the two girls gathered up there things made there way home.

 

****** Drake's Room ******

 

Rei and Drake blinked and they came out of what ever strange state of mind they where in and they let go of one another, " Excuse me pilot Frost I have to go and check on PenPen. " Rei said as she got up from the chair she had been sitting on as her face turned a bright shade of red to match her eyes.

" Umm, ya sure Rei. " Drake said as he sat back down on his bed, his mind thrown into utter chaos at what had transpired with Rei, " Umm Rei could you do me a favorer? " Dark said to Rei who stopped in her tracks and turned to face him and she could see that his face was just as red as her's, " What is it you want of me pilot Frost? " she asked as she struggled to get her wits about her to try and put what had just happened between them into perspective.

" Well Rei could you call me Drake instead if pilot Frost? " he said to Rei and mentally kicked himself for being such a dweb as he found himself hold his breath in unknowing anticipation.

Rei cocked her head to the right slightly as she thought about Drake's request for a moment and found nothing wrong with it even though her stomach was fluttering at the thought of calling Drake by his first name for some odd reason, " Sure Drake, is that all you want of me? " she asked as she watched him sit down on the edge of his bed with a strange look on his face that she could not place.

 

" Umm no that's all. " Drake said as he felt as nervous as a little kid being sent to the principle's office for misbehaving, " And thanks. " he added as he continued to stare at Rei, unable to tear his eyes away from her.

" Your welcome Drake. " Rei said before she made her way down the stairs of Drake's bedroom and felt oddly relieved and yet anxious for doing so, leaving Drake with his thoughts.

 

" Damn that was some weird shit! " Drake said to himself as he laid down on his bed to try and bring his out of control mind and feelings under his will.

 

****** The Upper Bathroom Of The House ******

 

PenPen opened his eyes when he heard a knocking at the bathroom door and made his way out of the tub and shaken the water out of his feathers as the door opened slightly and he could see that head of the funny looking girl appear.

" WARK- Hey funny girl it's ok I'm descent. " PenPen said as he waddled over to the door of the bathroom and pointed at the tub, " You want me to empty the tub? " the funny looking girl asked and he nodded his head a few times and wondered why did the funny looking girl have such a strangely confused tone in her voice as she walked pasted him to drain the tub and decided that it was none of his concern and made his way out of the bathroom and down the stairs as Rei reached into the tub to pull the plug, not noticing the white stuff that was floating in the tub due to her confused state of mind as she tried and failed to understand what had happened between her and Drake and left the bathroom to get a glass of soya milk to help calm down her frazzled nerves.

 

****** The Front Door Of The House ******

 

Shinji walked into the house and went into the kitchen to use the phone to order some pizzas when he saw Rei sitting at the table with a nearly empty glass of soya milk and looked up at him, " Hello Shinji. " she said in a slightly shaken tone of voice that mystified Shinji for a moment, " It's good to see you Rei. " Shinji said to her in an even tone of voice as he took a moment to study Rei, " I'm ordering pizza for dinner is there any kind of vegetarian pizza you want? " Shinji asked Rei as he did his best to keep his cool as Dark Shinji wispiered into his mind that he should not be as nice to her as he was being after all she could just have easily been the one who just about turned him into a eunuch, * Knock it off will you she get what's coming to her. * Shinji thought towards Dark Shinji who had a pissed off look on his face as Rei finished her glass of milk and walked past him without so much as a word to him.

" See the way that bitch just snubbed you while you trying to be nice to her you should get her now! " Dark Shinji snarled as his face turned a beat red in anger, " Cool it will you, we have bigger fish to fry then her at the moment. " Shinji said as he reached for the phone and Dark Shinji just sat there on his shoulder and began to mutter vile curses under his breath as Shinji placed the order for two large pizzas with everything on it and extra anchovies and a large vegetarian pizza for Rei and a six pack of cola when in walked Asuka and Gwen who made there way upstairs.

 

" SHIT! Now we'll have to wait to carry out our plan. " Shinji muttered as he hung up the phone, " No shit Einstein. " Dark Shinji said in a pouting tone of voice as he did his level best to keep his anger under control.

" See what being a nice guy get's you. " he added as Shinji was making his way to the staircase so he could hide what he had brought from the pharmacy before anyone saw what he had in the bag in his right hand.

" Look, we both agreed that when we started out our plans for getting back at Asuka and Rei it would take time and a whole lot of playing nicey nice with them before we really dropped the boom on them, think about this, all this acting will thrown off any suspicion that we are going to hurt them as they had hurt us and when the time come all this acting will made the payoff all the more sweeter. " Shinji said as he walked up to his room and opened the door to his room and tucked away the item he had brought at the pharmacy under his bed.

 

" I know but it does not mean I have to like it! " Dark Shinji said as Shinji felt the urge to leaf though his

* reading * materials that where hidden between the mattresses of his bed even though he felt fear at doing such a thing because of his injury, " Look why don't you talk a walk will you, I want to have some fun. " Shinji said to Dark Shinji who had a sweat drop on his forehead as Shinji pulled out one of his henati manga books.

" Right later man. " Dark Shinji said as he faded away from Shinji's shoulder to the back of Shinji's mind as Shinji undid his paints and pulled them down and then his underwear and winched as he saw his ruined happy sacs.

 

Fifteen minutes later and after reading though his manga book and a whole lot of erotic mental imagery on Shinji's part the result was the same, his might oak was still asleep despite his best handi work and he threw down the manga book in frustrated despair.

* GOD DAMN BITCHES! * Shinji thought to himself as he pulled up his underwear and then his pants as a wave of retchedness washed over him and he began to cry bitter tears for his lost manhood as he vowed that both Rei and Asuka would suffer unlike any human being had ever suffered before when he took his vengeance on them when the doorbell rang.

 

With one last curse on his lips Shinji got off his bed and made his way down stairs to see who was at the door.

 

****** The Kitchen ******

 

" WHAT THE HELL IS THIS! " Asuka shouted as she saw the pizzas that where on the table and saw that they where laced with anchovies, " Sorry Asuka you should have been here when I ordered them. " Shinji said as he walked over to PenPen's food dish and put a coupe of slices of pizza, " WARK- Your the man! "

PenPen said as he greedily dug into the pizza slices, " If you don't like them pick off the anchovies and feed them to PenPen. " Shinji said as he saw Gwen give him a scowling look and wondered what was up with that.

" Damn it Shinji you know I hate anchovies! " Asuka snarled as Drake helped himself to a slice of pizza and began to mau down on it thankful for the food since he was really hungry as Rei who was sitting beside him was nibbling on a slice of her vegetarian pizza lost in her thoughts as usual.

Shinji shrugged his shoulders as he sat down to eat a slice of pizza and smiled to himself, even though he did not like anchovies he had ordered them because he knew Asuka hated them so much and mentally patted himself on the back for a job well done as he enjoyed the look of outrage on Asuka's face.

" Sorry I forgot that you disliked them. " he said as he took a bite out of his pizza slice.

" Damn you Shinji I swear that you did this on purpose you moron! " Asuka shouted as PenPen looked up from his food dish to watch as the red headed devil girl and the depressed music boy started to argue between them while the uptight, spoiled brown haired girl was giving the depressed music boy an scolding look.

 

Shinji decided it was time to put Asuka in her place once and for all on this matter.

" If you don't like it, don't eat it! " Shinji said as he finished off his piece of pizza as Asuka looked at him in disbelief, " Since when the hell did you grow a backbone? " she said to Shinji as she slammed her hands down on the table as Gwen tried her first piece of pizza for there was no way she was going to put up with any back talk from Shinji who gave her a * Eat shit and die! * look, " I have always had a backbone but I never used it because I put up with your shit because I knew you where going though some really fucked up shit, why I did that I have no idea, so just fuck off and die Asuka I'm sick of listening to your whining! "

 

Asuka stood there grinding her teeth as she fought down the urge to scream in rage as she gave Shinji the patented Look Of Death Number Three that usually reduced him to a whimpering pile of jello and was shocked when he looked at her and smiled but what he said next not only shocked her worse then she was but shocked the rest of the children, " Gee Asuka did anyone ever tell you that you are cute when your angry. " then started to laugh his fool head off as four sets of jaws and one beak hit the floor in utter shock but in the back of his mind Shinji could not help but to wonder why he had choose that moment to become suicidal but to his surprise Asuka did not began to try and pummel him into the kitchen floor.

 

Asuka was livid and all she could do was stand there as her face turned purple as Shinji continued to laugh at her and the only thing that kept her from kicking Shinji's ass was the fact that he was acting so unlike himself for he would never dare to mock her in the past and this gave her a bit of a fright at the thought of losing her human scratching post to vent out her frustrations on when she felt the need to do so and in the back of her mind she could not help but to wonder if losing a nut had unhinged Shinji's mind a tat.

 

Gwen could see that Asuka was about to explode in her face as she barely heard the sounds of Asuka's grinding teeth over the sounds of Shinji's laughter, " That's enough of that Shinji!. " she shouted at Shinji who stopped laughing and gave her a * What the fuck is your problem * look, " Look Gwen this is none of your business, this is between me and Asuka so keep your nose out of it, I made a simple mistake that does not give Asuka the right to jump down my throat! " Shinji should as he stood up and gave Gwen an evil stare that caused Gwen to recoil a bit as Rei and Drake continued to watch the show with amusement and began to eat some more of the pizzas.

Gwen knew that Shinji was right but since she opened her mouth she felt bound to continue argument and since Asuka was her friend she felt obligated to defend her, " Be that as it may that does not give you the right to mock her, now say your sorry! " Gwen said as she gave Shinji a harsh look.

" The hell I will! " Shinji said as both he and Gwen began to stare one another down and for a few long and tense minutes no one said a thing as the staring match continued as Asuka stood there looking like she was about to have a fit.

 

After a few more minutes of staring each other down and Asuka standing at the table looking like she was about to either piss herself in rage or take some one's face off the silent tension in the kitchen was broken by the hissing sound of some one opening a can of cola and four sets of eyes slowly looked towards the sound.

 

" I don't know about the rest of you but this pizza is really good and as much as I hate to say it I have to agree with Asuka these anchovies suck. " Drake said as he took a drink from his cola as they continued to look at him as if he had suddenly grown a second head or some other freaky crap like that, " But I have to agree with Shinji, none of us where around when he ordered the pizzas so we shouldn't complain about it after all Misato was good enough spring for the grub so we should be thankful for that. " he added then for some odd reason he felt like being an asshole and said to Asuka, " Shinji's right you are cute when your pissed off, but don't think that means I like you. "

 

Asuka let out a strangled scream and stormed out of the kitchen while swearing up a storm of vile curse and Gwen gave Drake a dirty look before she got up from the table and went to find Asuka to she if she would be alright, leaving the three of them sitting around the table.

 

****** Misato's Office ******

 

Misato looked at the next batch of complaints that had been placed on her desk while she had gone for a tea brake and she had to fight down the urge to pull her hair out in frustration when the door to her office opened and in walked Ritsuko.

" Another day in the trenches eh? " she said to Misato who looked up from behind the high wall of complaints on her desk, " At lest you get to go home at a decent hour, it's going to take me a year to sort though this shit! " she said to Ritsuko with a look of gloom and despair.

Ritsuko looked at her friend for a moment and she could see that there was something bothering her and it had nothing to do with work and called her on it.

" So what's on your mind? " Ritsuko asked as she watched Misato take one of the complaints from the pile and began to look it over and looked up at her as she let out a deep sigh, " I'm worried about the children being alone at home, who knows what the hell is going on with them. " Misato said, not bothering to hide the concern in her tired sounding voice.

 

Ritsuko took out a cigarette from the pack in her right front pants pocket and lit it as Misato gave her a

* Must you do that? * look, " You don't trust them is that what your saying? " Ritsuko asked a she took a deep drag from the cigarette and exhaled the lung full of smoke into the air as she watched Misato put down the complaint from she had been reading from and gave her a helpless look.

" Damn it, I don't know the hell to do with them, there personalties clash so much it's a wonder that they have not killed one another and I am worried about Shinji most of all, I'm sure that he has it in for Asuka and Rei because of what happened to him but I can't prove a thing and I'm sure he's going to hurt them some time soon and I can't do a fucking thing to stop it. " Misato as she opened a drawer in his desk and pulled out a can of beer and cracked it open as Ritsuko gave her a knowing smile.

 

" I have no idea on what to say about that, maybe you should consider having Shinji move out on his own?" Ritsuko asked as she took another drag from her smoke.

" I had considered that but that would be unfair to Shinji, he didn't ask for this to happen to him and as if that's not bad enough I have Drake to deal with and I tell you he scares me some times. "

Misato said as she took a swig from her beer and savored it as Ritsuko raised an eye brow at that admission from Misato as worry began to worm it's why into her heart for she know that Misato was not a person that was easily frightened by anyone, well save for the commander but then again that asshole was frightening to anyone, " Oh has something happened with him recently? " Ritsuko asked as she flicked the long ash from her smoke to the floor before she took another drag from her smoke as a chill raced up her spine at the look of dread and confusion of Misato's face.

Misato took a deep breath and told Ritsuko about what had happened earlier in the day and of what happened in the game's room with Drake.

" Ris I tell you there is something so very wrong with Drake and as much as I want to get rid of him I can't but I feel sorry for him despite his crazy ass antics. " Misato added before she took a long pull from her beer and felt her stomach flip flop a few times at the gave look on her friend's face after she had finished telling her what had happened between her and Drake.

 

Ritsuko shook her head in dismay after she had thought about what Misato had told her and stubbed out her smoke on the wall next to her, " I was afraid something like this was going to happen with him, Damn it I told the commander that Drake was not cut out to be an eva pilot, that kid belongs in a metal institution! " she said to Misato who agreed with her, " Look I tell you what, I'm going home soon I'll stop in and check up on the children if you like. " she said to Misato as she tossed the butt of her smoke into the waste can by Misato's desk.

" Would you?, thanks Ris that would mean a lot to me. " Misato said with a hopeful and some what relieved tone of voice, the two women said there goodbyes and Ritsuko left Misato to her work.

 

******* The Nerv Motor Pool ******

 

Ritsuko was walking towards her car when she spotted Maya who was loading a box into the back of her car and she felt a surge of lust towards the younger woman and walked up behind her and hugged her close to her body as she planted a kiss on the back of Maya's neck.

" Damn! " Maya hissed in surprised delight as she felt the kiss on the back of her neck and a pair of hands slide down her body to cup her breasts and looked over her shoulder to see the smiling face of Ritsuko, Maya lunged her head forwards as she twisted her body around in her lover's arms to embrace her as she planted a deep soul kiss on Ritsuko's mouth and her hand slid down to the other woman's hips and then she slid her hand down the front of Ritsuko's pants and found that she was wet to the touch.

 

After a few minutes of tongue and finger action between them Ritsuko broke from Maya's arms.

" I've missed you so much. " Ritsuko said as Maya brought her juice cover fingers to her lips and began to lick them clean with a shameless and lusty smile, " And I have missed you as well, so where are you off to?" Maya asked as she finished cleaning her fingers.

" I'm heading home but first I have a little erin to run, why don't you come home with me tonight I could use the company. " Ritsuko said to Maya as she reached out and playful tussled Maya's short hair and her smile grew by leaps and bounds as the younger woman's face lit up like a christmas tree.

" I'd loooove to. " Maya purred like a cat as Ritsuko leaned forwards and pressed her up against her car and she looked into her eyes and Maya could see the fires of raw lust surging in Ritsuko's eyes and she knew that she was in for on hell of a long night, not that she cared a wit about that as she felt her own juices starting to flow as Ritsuko ground her crotch into her's.

 

" Excellent, let's go my little rug muncher. " Ritsuko said as she gave Maya a quick kiss before she before she peeled her body off of Maya's and made there way towards her car and the trip from Nerv to Misato's house would be a long and dangerous one due to Ritsuko erratic driving but she could not be blamed for that because juring the entire trip Maya had her face planted in Ritsuko lap and was doing her best to place her tongue as far up the older woman's body as she could while humming a ditty.

 

****** Shinji's Room ******

 

Shinji was laying on his bed and listening to track twenty-five on his SDAT player but it was not helping to ease the pain in his soul as he stared at the ceiling of his room.

 

* Knock..Knock *

 

Shinji barely heard the knocking at his bedroom door and when he did he shut of his SDAT player, pulled the ear plugs from his ears as the knocking repeated itself, " Who is it? " Shinji called out as he sat up on his bed wondering who the hell was at his door, " It's me, Drake can I come in? " he heard from the other side of his bedroom door and told Drake to come in and was really confused as to why Drake wanted to talk to him for as the bedroom opened and in walked Drake.

" Hey Shinji I need to talk to you for a bit is that ok with you? " Drake asked as he looked at Shinji and wondered if he would tell him what he need to know.

" Sure come on in and sit down. " Shinji said as he felt his guts churn with nervousness as Drake shut the door behind him and took a seat on the chair at Shinji's desk, " What's on your mind? " Shinji asked and saw a deep and thoughtful look on the other boy's face.

 

Drake looked at Shinji for a moment and wondered how he should ask his questions to Shinji because he did not know if Shinji was still mad after the fight in the dinning room and the last thing he wanted or need was another fight, " Well Shinji..I was wondering what can you tell me about the angels that we are trying to kill in order to save our asses? " he said to Shinji and saw the wary look on his face and decided to keep his question to the matter of the angels and piloting eva for the time being.

 

" Well they are the most dangerous threat to mankind since the cold war before second impact. " Shinji said and watched as Drake continued to give him a questioning look as he continued to speak, " The angels are not like the ones from the bible, they don't have halos and wings they don't even look human." Shinji told Drake who had a confused look on his face and for the next hour or so Shinji related to Drake his encounters with the angels as best as he could and saw the range of emotion play across Drake's face, every thing from barely concealed fear to outright disbelief.

 

" That some wacked shit! " Drake said with an apprehensive tone of voice as Shinji finished speaking and for a moment the two boys that there lost in there thoughts, after a few minutes Drake shook the dark and foreboding thoughts from his mind, " So Shinji your a good eva pilot, what about the others, I'd like to know who I can count on to watch my back out there." Drake said as he did his best to relax in the chair in front of Shinji's desk.

 

Shinji thought about Drake's question for a moment, " Well I'm a fair eva pilot, I am still alive you know. " Shinji said with a wan smile on his face, " Rei, well Rei can handle herself out in the field of battle so you can count on her in a bind, as for Asuka....well Asuka's a show off she thinks she the world's greatest eva pilot and she does things her own way instead of following orders in fact I'm quite surprised she has not gotten herself killed yet." Shinji told Drake with a snort of contempt.

" Why does that not surprise me, I knew I could not count on Asuka, hell I'd doubt she would piss on my eva if it was on fire let alone try to save me if I was about to be turned into angel bait. " Drake said with a smirk on his face and a laugh in his voice, " I just wanted to get the straight dope on the matter, thanks for the info." he added when the door bell rang, Shinji and Drake looked at each other and wondered who was at the front door.

 

****** The Kitchen Of The House ******

 

Rei was fishing up the dishes when the door bell range she put down the dish towel and walked to the front door and standing there was Ritsuko and Maya who had a smile on there faces.

" Dr.Akgai and Dr.Ibuki what are you doing here? " Rei asked as she looked at the two women with a slightly baffled look on her face, " Misato asked me to come and check on you and the other children. " Ritsuko said as she gave Rei a commanding look to let her know that she was not in the mood for games.

" Won't you come in? " Rei asked as she backed up from the door to allow the two women entry to the house as she felt a slight chill race down her spine at the sight of Dr.Akgai

Once they where in the house Ritsuko asked where the other children where but before Rei could answer her Shinji and Drake came down the stairs and stopped as they asked themselves why the two doctors where in there house.

" Ritsuko, Maya what are you doing here? " Shinji asked as Drake watched the two women with a cold look for he had not forgotten the way Ritsuko had treated him and Gwen when they arrived in Japan and was none to happy to see her especially after what had happened in the testing chamber for some odd reason but took the time to give Maya the once over.

" Shinji how are you and the other children doing? " Ritsuko asked as she noted that Shinji and Drake had come down the stairs pretty well at the same time and correctly guessed that they had been doing something together and that gave her a small hope that Drake was coming out of his shell and that Shinji was dealing with the trauma of his injury by slowly taking some one into his confidence.

 

" Hey who's here? " Asuka called from the door of her room when she heard Shinji speaking in the distance

" It's Dr.Akgai and Dr.Ibuki. " Shinji shouted up the staircase as he and Drake made there way down the stairs to stand beside Rei in front of the two women, " What's she want? " Asuka shouted back down he stair and Shinji told her to come and find out for herself as both Maya and Ritsuko took notice of the slightly hostile tone in Shinji's voice and wonder what was up with that.

 

A few seconds later both Gwen and Asuka where at the top of the staircase and looking at the two doctors with a questioning look on there faces, " Misato asked me to come and check on you all to see how things where going with you. " Ritsuko said to the children as Maya was trying to reach out and pat Ritsuko on the ass without the other children seeing her.

 

" We doing ok. " Shinji said and then Drake put his two cents in, " I'm cool just sitting back and chill'n out. "

" I am well. " Rei said as she felt uncomfortable in the presence of Ritsuko who reached behind her back with one hand and swatted Maya's hand as it caressed her backside.

Asuka and Gwen told Ritsuko that they where fine and that they did not need anyone to check up on them.

 

" Gwen, Asuka there's not need for that tone of voice. " Ritsuko said to the two girls as she wondered why they where so hostile, " Shinji I would like to speak to you in privet for a moment. " Ritsuko said and gave the other children a * This is none of your business * look as a nervous look appeared on Shinji's face because he could help but feel that he was in some kind of shit even though he had done nothing to have the doctor come down on him and stepped outside to fallow Ritsuko and Maya.

" Shinji what is really going on here? " Ritsuko asked after she had told Maya to wait in the car for her, Shinji looked at her with a wary look that sent alarm bells ringing in her mind and listened carefully as Shinji told of what had happened at dinner time and of the talk with Drake after dinner.

 

" I see. " Ritsuko said as she studied Shinji's face to see if he was hiding anything from her and found that he had been truthful with her, " If anything happens give Misato a call at her office and as a favor to her try to keep the peace here after all your the man of the house for now. " she said to Shinji, hopping that her words would instill a sense of self worth and responsibility in him and then she bid him a good night and walked to her car as Shinji went back into the house.

When she got to the car she saw that Maya had lusty and longing look on her face as she got in the car.

" Your such a brat. " Ritsuko said to Maya for playing with her ass as she spoke to the children.

" But you still love me right? " Maya said with a goofy grin on her face, Ritsuko gave her a * Your going to get it so bad * look as she started the car and peeled out of the drive way and sped to her place as fast as they could so she could make good on that look that she had given Maya.

 

****** The House ******

 

Shinji was going to the fridge to get one of the two remaining can of cola but decided to turn in for the night when he saw Asuka standing at the top of the staircase, " Well third child what there that old bag want with you? " she said and Shinji looked at her as anger began to slowly burn in his mind, " Nothing that concerns you. " he told her as he allowed his anger to fill his voice as he walked up the stirs towards her and saw that Asuka had her arms cross over her chest and a look on her face that told Shinji that his answer was unacceptable, " Move it Asuka I don't have time for your shit and be sure to turn in early because we have to go to school in the morning. " he said to Asuka who was giving him a dirty look.

 

Shinji ignored her and elbowed his way past her and made his way to his room leaving a shocked Asuka standing behind him, once he was in his room Shinji striped out of his clothes and hopped into his bed and stared at the ceiling and made his decision to return to school in the morning even though he wanted to put off all the stares and wispiers of the other students when he went back to school for as long as possible he knew he would have to face the other students and his at some point in time and decided to get on with it.

 

With in an hour and a half Shinji fell into a troubled sleep with all the student of his school where tormenting him as a prelude to what might be in the waking world.
