Chapter 10: From Bad to Worse
Sage's P.O.V
Sage stood along the back wall of the classroom with Mia clutched tightly to her side. The two were frozen with fear, refusing to so much as move an inch from their current location where they have remained unnoticed by the three demons. Although, Sage thought that “demon” was an understatement, considering she's never before laid eyes on the two monstrous creatures that stood before her now.
Everything had happened so fast that both girls had yet to process it. One minute, Sage was telling Chase what a bastard he was, and the next she was standing in a room where time itself had literally stopped, staring at the two unrecognizable demons as they slammed Ace into a wall. When the two finally spoke, they sounded nothing like the Chase and Kel she had come to know within the last few days. Their voices were sinister, and far too deep to decipher what was being said aside from a vicious growl every now and then.
Sage had deeply regretted ever opening her mouth in the first place when she saw Kel swiftly throw his desk into the far wall as Chase grabbed Ace by the throat and smash him into the chalk broad. Luckily, before the scream could leave her lips, Mia's hand latched out and quickly covered her mouth to silence her. The two stood rooted to the spot as they watched the scene play out, knowing full well that they were witnessing something that was not intended for their eyes.
Mia then nudged her gently, directing her attention to the open window mere inches from where they stood. If they were quiet enough, they might be able to make a run for it. But Sage couldn't bring her body to move as her wide eyed gaze fell on Chase's form. He was terrifying; there were no other words to describe it. His beautiful pale blue eyes were lost to the pitch black ones he now wore, and his face was covered in hideously thick purple and red veins. She was sure that Mia could hear the conversation which was taking place far clearer then she could, but their only concern was getting as far away as possible. Mia continued to tug at Sage's arm, gently pulling her towards the window. Mia was just about to reach out and grab the ledge when the floor broad creaked beneath her.
They both froze on the spot, turning their heads slowly to see if the noise drew any unwanted attention their way. It was then that their eyes connected with the pitch black gaze of the two demons, who were now starting intently at them.
Sage was sure that her heart beat could be heard by every demon in the room, since it was too loud for even her own ears to bear.
Chase and Kel shared a look, their expressions blank. They both slowly moved around the desk that Ace was still lying on clutching his throat, making their way towards the back of the room. Kel had his sights set on Mia whereas Chase began to walk towards Sage, like a predator stalking his pry.
“Oh, God…” Sage thought while backing further away, pulling Mia with her.
Sage's eyes drifted towards the door, which was unfortunately located behind Chase. Shooting Mia a glance, Sage grabbed her hand and made a run for the door, hoping that Mia's demonic speed would be of some help in their escape. Before she could reach the door, she heard Mia scream as their hands were ripped away from each other. Sage whipped around to see Kel holding Mia to his chest while she struggled and screamed for him to release her.
Sage took a step forward to help her friend when she felt a clawed hand grip her upper arm, roughly wrenching her around into a hard body. Sage looked up, already knowing who it was, as green eyes met black.
Chase gazed down at her as if studying a creature he's never seen before, his head titling slightly.
“Let us go…” Sage grunted out as firmly as possible, though she couldn't hide the quiver in her voice.
“Why are you two the only ones not frozen?” Chase asked calmly talking more to himself then to her, clearly not expecting an answer in return.
“What are you?” Sage demanded getting her voice under control again.
Chase smiled widely at her, his fangs flashing dangerously. “Can't you tell? I'm fucking Santa Clause! Have you been a good girl this year, little witch?” he replied chuckling callously.
Even though Sage was scared shitless of the man in front of her, she wanted nothing more then to slap that smirk off his face.
“Chase, this is serious.” Kel said in a hard tone, completely unfazed by the struggling panther demon in his arms.
Chase made a gesture as if to roll his eyes, but since he had no pupils the action was lost.
“There's no way these two are normal,” Kel continued as if the girls weren't in the room, “First compulsion doesn't work on the witch, and now altering time and space doesn't work on neither of them…this can't be a coincidence.”
“We can still read their minds though…how do you explain that?” Chase asked his grip on Sage tightening as she tried to wiggle free.
“Gee Chase, just let me get my hell powers instruction manual and…oh, wait— I DON'T FUCKING HAVE ONE!” Kel yelled obviously annoyed by the situation.
“Dude, take a Midol, we'll figure it out.” Chase replied before retuning his gaze to Sage. “Try compulsion on the demon, maybe it'll work on her,” he suggested.
“Leave her alone!” Sage yelled, struggling harder.
Kel grabbed Mia's jaw, forcing her to look at him. “Forget what you saw here…none of this ever happened.” He said in his deep spellbinding voice.
There was a moment of silence as Mia started into Kel's black eyes. The brothers almost believed that it had worked until…
“ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE?! WHO IN THEIR RIGHT FUCKING MIND COULD FORGET ANY OF THIS SHIT? LET ME GO YOU HOMICIDLE ASSHOLE!” Mia screamed at the top of her lungs.
Kel quirked an eyebrow at her reaction, Chase doing the same.
“Well fuck me in the ass…it really doesn't work.” Chase said evenly. “Looks like you two are going to be coming with us for a while,” he said flashing Sage a dark smile.
“No!” Sage yelled as she felt her powers bubbling up inside her. She then used her telekinesis to pick up a desk and throw it at Kel's back, which caused him to release his hold on Mia. Focusing her powers on Chase, she felt the energy gathering in her hands as it quickly turned to fire. Since he was holding her left arm, she used her right to smash her fire blazing hand into his face. He yelled out in pain as the fire sizzled away at his skin, releasing her to grasp his face.
Both girls made a run for the door when it was suddenly slammed shut by an invisible force. Mia tried to claw at it, but it was being blocked by a barrier of some kind.
“You little bitch!” Chased growled out now fuming with rage as he looked up at her, the burns on his face completely healed.
Chase held his hand out in front of him as Sage felt her body being lifted into the air and flying towards him. He then used that same hand to wrap around her delicate throat before squeezing tightly.
Across the room, Mia was in a similar position. Kel had her pinned to the desk that Ace no longer occupied. She was lying on her back as he stood between her legs, one hand on her throat and the other leaning on the desk by her head.
“Still want me between your legs, bitch?” Kel muttered tauntingly while leaning down closer to her face.
Mia whizzed out a shaky breathe as his grip tightened, cutting off her oxygen supply.
Chase/Kel's P.O.V
To say that they were surprised to see Sage and Mia not frozen along side the others in the room, would be the understatement of the century. An error with the compulsion, that's one thing, but this incident raised a whole new level of questions.
Not only were these girls unaffected by some of their most powerful abilities, but neither brother had the slightest clue as to why. Not only that, but another problem has now added it self to their growing list of worries…their identities were exposed.
They both knew that Craven was going to be pissed after he found out about this. Ace was easily forgotten as both brothers turned towards the girls, both of whom were pissing them selves with fear from what they had just witnessed. However, Chase had to admit that he was a little satisfied to see that they still had some spunk left in them. He's seen some humans and demons break down in tears and drop to their knees by now, but not them. The little witch and panther demon actually tried to escape, and run directly towards him no less.
Chase barely moved as he grabbed Mia by the arm and threw her at Kel, before blocking off the witch. He was actually pleased to see how much she was fighting him, her fear slowly replacing itself with anger. But his amusement died and went straight to hell when the bitch burned him. Now, she was finding it difficult to breathe as he sneered down at her.
“Bitch brought it on her self…who the fuck told them to run?” Chase thought to himself.
“Now look who's doing the exposing…” they heard a quiet voice whisper off to the side.
Both brothers turned to glower at Ace.
“You feel like getting your face kicked in today, kid?” Chased asked seriously.
“No, sir,” Ace instantly replied.
“Then shut your frigging hole.” Chase replied before turning to look at his brother. “What do you wanna do…kill them?” Chase asked, hesitation edging its way into his voice.
Kel looked at him thoughtfully before looking down at Mia, loosening his grip slightly when he saw her about to lose consciousness. He didn't know why he did it, since he was never one to show mercy towards tainted demons, but seeing the pain on her face did something to him. His black eyes locked with her red gaze for a moment before forming a mind link with his brother.
“We'll keep them around for now, they might be useful. We could use them somehow.” He thought to Chase.
“We can't let them go though, they know too much.” Chase shot back.
“What do you suggest then? Create a dungeon in the house and keep them down there, feeding them bread and water every now and then?” Kel asked his voice dripping with sarcasm.
“Damn, and people call me the bastard…No genius, I was going to suggest keeping them with us at the house. This way we can keep a closer eye on them,” Chase replied.
“And when their family comes looking for them?” Kel asked quirking an eyebrow.
“We compel them.” Chase replied
“If Compulsion doesn't work on them, what makes you think it'll work on their family?” Kel asked sharply.
“Then we kill them… I don't fucking know, Kel! This has never happened before,” Chase snapped. “And we can't just kill them because too many people have seen us together already…including Scar. It will cause us even more problems then we bargained for. Plus, this girl is a witch, and the last thing we need is for her family to go putting their little Wiccan noses where it doesn't belong.”
Kel was silent for a moment, taking what his brother was saying into consideration. “We can always threaten their family to make them cooperate. Let's just work out the details later.” He replied.
“Chase…please…” whimpered a soft voice causing Chase to break the link with his brother to look down at Sage.
Chase, becoming lost in the conversation with his brother, did not realize how much his hand had tightened around her fragile neck, causing his claws to dig into her throat and her skin to turn blue. The instant her watery gaze met his, he relinquished his hold on her throat, allowing his hand to simply rest there rather then applying any pressure.
She coughed frantically as the air rushed into her lungs. She clutched at her now bleeding throat, tears threatening to fall from her eyes as she gazed at him. For some reason, Chase felt himself inwardly cringe. He hadn't meant to hurt her, scare her maybe, but not physical hurt her. He suddenly felt a pang of guilt rip through him as he gazed down at her, his eyes slowly returning to their normal pale crystal blue color as the veins receded into his face.
Before he could stop himself, he was leaning down towards her. She flinched slightly, unsure of what he was about to do. Blood now coated her hand where she held the claw wounds on her neck.
As soon as Chase smelt her blood, he couldn't control himself anymore. It was the most amazing thing he had ever smelt in his entire existence. He didn't stop to think as he leaned his head into the crock of her neck, allowing his tongue to dart out and slowly lick at one of the open wounds. As his tongue licked its way along her neck, he heard her gasp softly, whether it was from pain, pleasure or simple shock, he wasn't sure. As the blood coated his tongue, he couldn't help but moan in pleasure.
“Hmmm…” he groaned out loud, “so fucking good…” He felt his fangs slowly extracting, begging to have a better taste, when a voice snapped him out of his daze.
“What the fuck are you doing? We don't have time for this, Chase. Play with her when we get home.” Kel snapped irately.
Chase then looked up, the blood lust clearly written across his face. The wounds on Sage's neck were already healing due to his saliva as she looked up at him with a bewildered look on her face.
“What did you do to her?!” Mia yelled as Kel held her up with his arms firmly around her waist.
“Eh, shut up,” Kel replied evenly, “Don't make me regret letting you breathe again, Mia.” Mia glared at him but remained silent.
“Alright, let's go.” Chase said muttering some incantations under his breathe, and signaling to Kel once he was done. Kel then snapped his fingers as the room slowly began to shift, returning to normal. Chase and Kel then vanished from the room, taking the girls with them, before time unfroze. Every broken desk, and cracked wall were returned to normal, along with the students and teacher, who appeared to be utterly unaware of the events which took place merely moments ago.
Chase and Kel teleported back to their house, roughly throwing both girls onto the floor in front of them. Ace had also appeared in the room shortly after, his wounds fully healed as he stood against the wall with his hands shoved in his pockets.
Sage and Mia stumbled to their feet, eyes scanning their surroundings before returning to the three demons in the room.
“You guys really shouldn't have said anything…” Ace said shaking his head disapprovingly.
“Shut up, Ace!” Sage and Mia yelled in union before turning on their kidnappers.
“Where are we?” Sage demanded
“Disneyland,” Chase scowled, “Where the fuck do you think?”
“This is our house,” Kel explained, “Well…it is now at least.”
“Who are you guys?” Mia asked her gaze shifting between the three, “And what was all of that back there.”
“Ace, go get your brother and meet us later. We have much to discuss.” Kel said ignoring Mia.
Ace nodded before vanishing from the room, leaving behind a dark misty fog which slowly faded away as well. A moment of silence fell over the four remaining in the room.
“What are you going to do with us?” Sage asked timidly.
Chase and Kel glanced at each other before Chase flashed a bright smile her way.
“Honestly…we're not sure yet. But until we are, you're both staying here, with us.” He said. Although both brothers had returned to their normal forms, they were still quite intimidating to be around.
“You can't keep us here!” Mia shouted, her anger rising.
“Oh, but we can, and will.” Kel replied without missing a beat.
“And if you try to escape, or run or piss us off in any shape or form...” Chase continued, “We will make you sit and watch as we slowly slaughter each and every single member of your family. Now, do we understand each other?”
Both girls slowly nodded in agreement, not knowing what else to do.
“Why are you doing this? Sage asked quietly, her gaze meeting Chase's. He slowly approached her, surprised when she didn't back away from him.
“You two already know enough to warrant death by our hands, you should be grateful that you're getting off this easy. So do yourselves a favor and don't push it. As far as you're concerned, we're doing this because we can,” Chase said calmly.
“You will both remain here until we figure out a solution to this little problem,” Kel cut in, “You will not do anything, go anywhere, or talk to anyone without our consent or else there will be consequences.”
“What kind of consequences?” Mia asked. Kel simply smirked at her, allowing her imagination to take over.
“Well, can we at least take a shit without your consent?” Mia continued to ask bitterly.
“Yes, but you'll have to wait for permission to wipe your ass I'm afraid,” Kel shot back dryly as Chase laughed.
“People will look for us,” Sage said shooting both brothers a glare, “You won't get away with this.”
Chase and Kel smiled humorously at each other before replying. “Yeah, whatever makes you sleep at night, little witch,” Chase replied, “Now If you'll excuse us. We have some business to attend to…don't go anywhere.” He smirked before he and Kel disappeared from the room.
Kel, however, reappeared a moment later. “I almost forgot…make yourselves at home.” He said grinning wolfishly before vanishing once again.
As soon as he left, Sage and Mia bolted towards every door, window and exist in the house. However, ever exist had an invisible barrier blocking it, similar to the one they had encountered back in the classroom. Sage sat for hours trying to think of every spell she knew that could destroy a barrier, while Mia tried to use her demonic strength to break the force shield.
Both girls eventually gave up, realizing that it was hopeless. They were trapped with no way of escape, waiting for their kidnappers to return.
