Chapter 4

 

Samantha and Kevin were having some problems of their own now. They were arguing all the time. If Kevin chose one direction Samantha would want to go the other. Neither of them could agree on something. Even if it was simple, like taking a rest, Samantha was pretty darn tired. But Kevin wasn't that tired. “Can we take a quick rest?” Samantha asked Kevin. Kevin just looked at her and continued to walk. “Fine then,” Samantha said, “I'll just go back to the dorms then.” Kevin just shrugged. “Fine go ahead.” He said to her as he walked on. Samantha just looked at him with disbelief and turned around and walked in the direction of the dorms.

Megan was still sitting on the stump when Kevin came by. She looked at him with confusion. Kevin didn't notice, but just sat down on the ground next to her. So Megan grabbed her bag and pulled out her paper and pen. She wrote something on it then let the paper fall down on top of Kevin's face. He sat up and read the paper out loud, “`where is Samantha? I thought she was looking for John with you?' She was, but then she went off back to the dorms, by herself.” Megan again looked at him confused, like she was saying, “What?” Kevin looked at Megan. “Don't worry she should be okay.” But Megan didn't think so. She stood up and started running as fast as she could to the dorms. Kevin was yelling after her, but Megan could not hear what he said, she had totally zoned out on him and had her focus on Samantha.

Kevin was totally mad. It was his one chance to tell Megan how he felt with out Samantha there. “Man I hate this!” he said to himself. Or so he thought. John came out from behind a tree, from where he was before. “What do you hate?” he asked Kevin.

“Everything.”

“Okay… Hey you want to go on back to the dorms?” John asked and without waiting for an answer he started to walk off towards the dorms. Kevin didn't answer so he just followed after John.

 

Samantha got to the dorms and bumped into Tom, Lenny, Jamie, and Mina. Samantha was crying when she bumped into them. All four of them noticed and looked worried. “Is everything okay, Samantha?” Mina asked worried. Samantha nodded then ran to the girls' dorms and ran into her room. Mina and Jamie both sighed and walked up to Samantha and Megan's room. Tom and Lenny just headed down to the beach to wait for Kevin to return, hopefully with John.

Mina knocked on Samantha's door, with Jamie by her side. After a few minutes Samantha opened the door. You could defiantly tell that she had been crying for awhile. “Samantha, what's the matter?” Jaime asked as she and Mina walked into the room.

“Nothing really.” Samantha said trying to put on a smile. Jamie wasn't falling for it and neither was Mina. Samantha looked over at the two from the window. “Seriously guys I'm fine. There's nothing wrong, really.” Samantha sniffed then burst out crying. Jamie and Mina both moved closer to Mina.

“Tell me what's wrong.” Mina said putting her arm around Samantha, as all three sat on Megan's bed. Samantha told them about Kevin, Megan, and her going to find John. “Then we split up and he went to find Megan and John. It seemed more like he cared more about Megan then me. And you guys know that I really like Kevin too.” Samantha said as she dabbed her eyes with a tissue. Mina and Jamie nodded in agreement.

“You want me to talk to, my idiot for a brother?” Mina asked. Samantha shook her head. She just sat there looking out the window. “Megan…” She said softly. “Why Megan?”

 

 

How many more will I lose? How much longer will it take to explain? Why me? These are the questions that form in my head every time I lose something.

Meagan ran for the dorms faster then ever. Why me? Why? He chooses me over Samantha! And I don't even like him! Why! She yelled in her head. She didn't understand anyone right now. John not wanting to go right away. And now Kevin not caring about Samantha!

Meagan couldn't stop she was getting pretty frustrated at everything. She ran so fast that when she was running up the stairs to the dorms she nearly fell face first, but she caught herself before that happened. She ran to her dorm and slammed the door open. She didn't notice Mina or Jamie there in the room. Only Samantha. Megan walked over to Samantha ignoring Mina and Jamie, and they did the same to her. Megan looked at Samantha with sorrow. She wanted to say she was sorry, but knew she couldn't. She opened her mouth to say it, but then shut it very slowly. Shaking her head she walked over to her desk and sat there. Her head falling slowly to the desk top.

Mina stayed with Samantha as Jamie moved over to Megan. She saw the sorrow in her. And knew now why her brother was in love with her. “You have something in your eyes that John likes.” She said softly so that only Megan could hear. Megan looked up at Jamie tears in her eyes. She was holding the tears back while she was running, but now they just came, fast as a cheetah. Megan mouthed the words, I do? Jamie nodded, “You do, and maybe even something that Kevin sees.” She replied. “I know, John, he has a soft side for sad girls.” Megan nodded.

Megan grabbed her note book from her top desk drawer. She started to write something for Mina. So when she was done she walked up to Mina and let her read it. Mina took the paper with out looking at Megan and Megan walked over to Samantha and patted her friends back. Mina read the paper out loud, “Your brother is one that will break a beautiful girl's heart. That is cruel and unusual punishment.” Samantha looked up at Megan with tears in her eyes. Megan just smiled at her friend. And mouthed, `Truth.'

Samantha gave her friend a smile and stood up. “Well then let's just forget about all of this after I give Kevin a piece of my mind.” Megan patted Samantha shook her head saying that it wasn't worth it. Samantha nodded and just walked to the door. “Then let's just go roam around.” She said with a smile. Now Megan just nodded in agreement to that.

But as they walked around Megan began to tell (well actually write it, but still you get the idea) Samantha, Jamie, and Mina, about how a jerk Kevin is. She would write things like, “Kevin seems nice, but he can be weird sometimes,” or, “Kevin is very blind. He doesn't see beauty until it's right in front of him.”

After a few minutes of walking they all turn around to go back to their dorms and finally when Megan and Samantha step into their dorm. Samantha says, “Okay Megan you can stop now.” She said this very nicely. Megan just smiled and just nodded her head okay. “Now let's get some sleep okay?” Samantha asked. Megan also nodded her head as they both got ready for bed. At about 10:00 Samantha finally fell asleep, but Megan didn't. She can't fall asleep just yet. She had a bunch on her mind. So when she finally fell asleep it was an hour after Samantha.

Megan's dreams were all about John. Her feelings for him were growing stronger, but they were confusing her. She didn't quite now if she really liked him more than a friend of just as a friend. So one time she woke up at about 2 in the morning and looked up at Samantha who was sound asleep still. She turned her head and looked out side at the moon. It was another full moon. She still loved it and still remembered her lovely mother. She missed her terribly. But she also knew there was no way in bringing back the dead. So after a few minutes she went back to sleep. This time with dreams of her mother.
