Death Academy: The Beginning

Chapter Two

 

 

The Past: 1year ago, TwoYears after the disappearance of Ryo'ichi Gatkai. Location: The Paranormal and Scientific MutationsFacility

 

“Run!” the man kept telling himself, “Just run! Get out of here and you will be free!”

 

“Huff, Huff, Huff, Ken…….I can't keep this up any longer!” the other guy said, breathing really heavily.

 

“Yes you can, Ryo'ichi use it! Use its stamina! I agreed to save you from this Hell, but how can I if you don't try and keep up!!” Ken yelled, still running down the tunnel, a little ways ahead of Ryo'ichi.

 

“GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR!” growled something behind Ryo'ichi and Ken.

 

“Shit! They're getting closer, and to think that I am getting hunted down by my own creations, Slades. Let alone the person who turned them against me! My own…….” Ken thought, but before he could get finished was snapped back into reality by Ryo'ichi's voice.

 

“Ken! Look!” Ryo'ichi said pointing ahead in horror.

 

“Oh no.”

 

The tunnel in front of Ken forked two ways, one to the left and one to the right.

 

“Which away?!” screamed Ryo'ichi glancing left and right.

 

“It's no use……they're going to catch us…..and kill us. Unless….” Ken sighed, looking out into both tunnels.

 

“Unless what?!” Ryo'ichi yelled looking more frantic than ever, glancing back at the tunnel behind them, now starting to see the outlines of the Slades.

 

“We spilt up……, look Ryo'ichi…” Ken said turning around to Ryo'ichi, “The tunnel to the right is the exit; I'll stay behind and make the Slades follow me, through the left tunnel.”

 

“No, either we both get out, or we both die!” Ryo'ichi said glaring into Ken's faded looking eyes.

 

“Don't be so ignorant! It's my fault that you're in here in the first place! It's the only way for you to get out of here!” Ken yelled, grabbing Ryo'ichi and shaking him, “don't you understand?!”

 

Ken grabbed two pistols from each side of his waist and gave them to Ryo'ichi, “These are yours now.”

 

“You know that this means you'll be unarmed? You'll most likely-“

 

“Die?” Ken said finishing the sentence for Ryo'ichi, “yeah I know, now get going!”

 

Ryo'ichi turned around and ran towards the right tunnel and down it until he was visible no more, not looking back once to see what will become of Ken. Ken waited until the Slades were completely visible before running down the left tunnel, just has he had planned, the Slades followed.

 

“Looks like Ken's planned worked!” Ryo'ichi thought just exiting the tunnel now in full daylight, the first he has ever been in two years.

 

Ryo'ichi looked around and noticed he was in a forest. There was a bundle of trees everywhere and he could see in the distance a stream and the roar of the waterfall right above it, and to the right of the waterfall's edge was a bunch of boulders, looking as if the could collapse any minute. Ryo'ichi made his way to the stream and dipped his head into the water, and he started drinking, suddenly out of reflex, he jumped sideways, just in time to dodge a huge blow from a giant axe shaped arm.

 

“Ugh! Shit! One of the Slades followed me!” Ryo'ichi thought sliding backwards from the blow.

 

The Slade lifted its axed arm, and with one quick twitch of the arm, it turned back to a regular arm, well regular as a Slades arm can get. Slades are genetically altered beings that look similar what myths call a “werewolf.” Slades have no ears or tails, and they hear through the tiny holes in their head. This Slade was about nine feet tall and really muscular, a well feed one, looked like it was the leader of the pack that chased us; it was probably more intelligent than the rest, too. Slades natural, well, man-made weapon and defense is their arms. Slades left arms are basically a giant shield that can repeal any attack, even missiles, and Slades right arms has tiny transmutation cells in the ligaments that were programmed by scientists at P.A.S.M to cause transformation of any known, non-gun weapon known to man, examples: axes, swords, spears.

 

“Hah, you're smart; you're the only one who saw through our deception.” Ryo'ichi said recovering from the surprise attack, now pulling out the weapons that Ken gave him.

 

“Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr………” growled the Slade, now transforming its arm into a giant sword and charging towards Ryo'ichi.

 

“Taste bullets!” Ryo'ichi yelled, now firing the pistols at the Slade, one after another hit the shielded arm.

 

“ARRRRRRRRRRG!” screeched the Slade now right in front of Ryo'ichi, slamming his sworded hand right on Ryo'ichi.

 

Ryo'ichi dodged it, but it was so close that he could feel the wind that the blow produced.

 

“Damn it!” Ryo'ichi thought, “This one is smart, blocking every bullet with that damn shield! I have got to get to his backside!”

 

Ryo'ichi immediately looked over at the waterfall and remembered the loose boulders on the right edge of the waterfall.

 

“It's a long shot and dangerous at that, but it's my only chance!”

 

Ryo'ichi dashed around the Slade and around a few trees towards the waterfall, “Come on, dumbass! Can't catch me!”

 

The Slade took the bait, transforming its arm into regular form, and then chasing Ryo'ichi down the bank of the stream. Ryo'ichi then dashed across the stream about ten feet from the waterfall, as did the Slade, but Ryo'ichi turned around and started shooting right above the Slade at the loose boulders. Ryo'ichi's planned work the boulders above the Slade collapsed onto it but also inches from Ryo'ichi causing him to be flown backwards. Ryo'ichi landed on the ground and smacked his head against a dormant rock, knocking him unconscious, not knowing whether the Slade was dead or whether he would wake up in Hell.

 

The Present: First Day of College, Location: The Prodigy Academy for Weaponry and Tactical Marital Arts. Weaponry and Tactical FightingClass, Girl's Classroom.

 

 

“Ok now then, Hitomi will go against Fee, and Zinnia you will go against….hmm….” Professor Sparks said, scanning the classroom.

 

“You, Tiki.”

 

The professor pointed to a girl who was sitting in the middle of the class, she was a little big, and short. She had reddish hair up in a bun, and she was wearing a short tank top and shorts.

 

“Tiki is a sophomore here at this academy, but I think that you can take her, Zinnia.” Professor Sparks said, smiling at Zinnia.

 

“Yeah………” Zinnia sighed folding her arms and tapping her foot impulsively.

Tiki got up and walked up to Zinnia, staring at her in confusion.

 

“What? You got a problem or something?” Zinnia said, glaring at Tiki.

 

“Yeah I do.”

 

“Oh, and what's that?”

 

“You basically said that you could beat every single one of us in here, right?”

 

“Yeah, I did, and I meant it. You'll be the first to go down, and like the saying goes, the bigger they are the harder and faster they fall.” Zinnia said, grinning evilly at Tiki.

 

“I'll prove you wrong, you bitch!” Tiki yelled, getting very angry.

 

“Watch your mouth young lady!” said the Professor, turning to Tiki and slapping her in the face.

 

“Ow! I am sorry professor; she just made me very angry!” Tiki said, rubbing her face.

 

“I don't care, settle it on the field! You two will go first!” Professor said, pointing to the grassy field on the other side of the classroom.

 

Zinnia and Tiki walked over to the field, never taking their eyes off each other, both having hatred in their eyes. Tiki took the right side as Zinnia to the left closest to the classroom, as everyone else got up out of their seats and walked over to the side of the field.

 

“You're going down piggy.” Zinnia said, still smiling evilly, taking an attack stance.

 

“You wanna see piggy?! You push me and I'll crush you!” Tiki yelled, already running towards Zinnia, fully enraged.

 

“I am sorry Tiki; I believe you have already lost….” Professor Sparks thought staring at Tiki as she made her way towards Zinnia.

“C'mon Ryo'ichi, don't you want to be social able with an old friend?” Ryuu said, still holding out his hand.

 

“Hmm? You two know each other already?” Dean Sparks said, looking at Ryo'ichi and Ryuu in confusion.

 

Ryo'ichi looked towards Dean Sparks, studying him in confusion as his head was spinning in shock. Dean Sparks was about 5'9 and looked around 167lbs; he was well built, tanned, brown hair around his ears, and has gray eyes. He was wearing a black t-shirt with the schools name on it and was wearing shorts with sandals on.

 

“Yea-Yeah we……we do.” Ryo'ichi said stuttering a little.

 

“Yep, Ryo'ichi and I go way back! We are old time best friends.” Ryuu said looking at the Dean, smiling.

 

“Wow, I had no idea! That will make this fight even better.” Dean Sparks said, clapping his hands together and smiling.

 

“Why don't you two walk on over to the field and get ready!” the Dean said, already making his way over to the side field.

 

“Ryo'ichi.” Ryuu said, walking next to Ryo'ichi towards the field.

 

“I know. You want to know what happened.” Ryo'ichi said walking straight ahead not even glancing over at Ryuu.

 

“Well?”

 

“Later, not now, this wasn't supposed to happen, there wasn't suppose to be anyone here that I know!” Ryo'ichi said, in a frustrated and confused voice.

 

“Ok, but there are two things you need to know.” Ryuu said, “One: I am not going easy on you, even if you are…..were my friend.”

 

“I wasn't expecting you to, because I'm not either.” Ryo'ichi said glancing at Ryuu.

 

“And two: I'm not the only one here that you know, someone else is here too, someone who is worse than me.”

 

“Who?”

 

“It's…….Hitomi; this is her first day here.”

 

Ryo'ichi stopped in his tracks and looked towards the ground, clenching his fists, “So. It was her that I saw. She……..this isn't good. This is all wrong.”

 

“Are you okay?” Ryuu said stopping and turning back towards Ryo'ichi, “Don't need you zoning out during our fight now do we?”

 

“Yeah, I'm fine.”

 

Ryo'ichi and Ryuu finally got to the field and took their places, Ryo'ichi went to the right as Ryuu took the left, and they both took their stances, surprisingly they had the same exact stances.

 

“Well, well, looks like Ryo'ichi has the same style as Ryuu, Hwa Rang Do. Never ceases to amaze me that these two know an advanced Taijutsu style like that,” the dean thought, smiling.

 

“Ok then are you two ready?” the Dean asked, looking at both of us in anticipation.

 

“Yeah, I guess.” Ryo'ichi said staring at Ryuu, still looking dazed and confused.

 

“Duh.” Ryuu said, smiling and hopping up and down in excitement.

 

“Then go ahead and show us what you guys got!” he yelled, putting up a “thumbs up” sign.

Tiki threw a quick punch right towards Zinnia's face. Zinnia jumped backwards dodging it with out even trying.

 

“You're to slow fatso!” Zinnia yelled, counterattacking her punch by speeding back towards Tiki and sending a powerful kick into her face, sending Tiki flying backwards.

 

“Wow! Zinnia is a quick and powerful one!” Fee said, gazing at the still airborne Tiki.

 

Tiki slammed into the ground while still sliding backwards, and then finally coming to a stop. She stumbled up only to see Zinnia's fist ramming back into her face. Zinnia sent punch after punch into Tiki's face, finally ramming her right fist straight into her jaw, causing her to stumble backwards then fall to her knees into exhaustion and pain.

 

“Huff, Huff ok…..I-I give up….” Tiki said barely getting the words out before passing out.

 

“Hpm. How pathetic, you were nothing but talk. You bore me.” Zinnia said, walking up to Tiki's unconscious body.

 

“Very good Zinnia, you are a very nice fighter. You deserve a break; you are dismissed from class for the day.” Professor Sparks said, smiling and pointing back at the door.

 

“I rather not, I wanna see the fight between my roommate and her….well, happy friend, if you don't mind?” Zinnia said, walking into the side of the field with the rest of the class.

 

“Why of course not, be my guest!” Professor said, surprised by Zinnia's interest in this upcoming fight.

 

“Well, let's not keep everyone waiting! Hitomi and Fee out to the field! Shelia, first get Tiki out of the way and to the Infirmary, now!” Professor said, pointing to a girl in the group.

 

“Yes Ma'am!” Shelia said, running from the side lines to the middle of the field, picking up Tiki and dragged her across the room and out the door.

 

Hitomi and Fee walked into the middle of the field and got distance from each other. Hitomi glanced across the class and locked eyes with Zinnia who was smiling, looking as she was watching an episode of her favorite show.

 

“She must think she will get a kick out of this, she probably expects this fight to be funny or something, like she thinks we are weak or something. I really don't like her…” Hitomi thought, finally returning her focus to Fee, who was already in a fighting stance.

 

“Ready you two?” Professor said, raising her hand in the air.

 

“Yep.” Hitomi said, taking her Iaido fighting stance.

 

“Yes! Yes I am!” Fee yelled in sheer excitement.

 

“Then begin!” she yelled, throwing her hand towards the ground.

“Ryuu is fast, really fast, but not fast enough to match my speed.” Ryo'ichi thought dodging Ryuu's fists.

 

Ryuu sent a kick towards Ryo'ichi's face, but before it made contact Ryo'ichi ducked, slipping a ground kick towards Ryuu's left leg, the only one that was still on the ground, right before it made contact Ryuu jumped and did a back-flip and landed about 5 feet from Ryo'ichi.

 

“You're a quick one Ryo'ichi; this doesn't look like I can end this quickly.” Ryuu said, looking pleased with his words.

 

“Hpm. I bet I can end it quickly.” Ryo'ichi said, smiling and in a spilt second, appeared right in front of Ryuu.

 

“So fast, way faster than I anticipated him to be!” Ryuu said, dodging a punch from Ryo'ichi.

 

Ryo'ichi was now on the offense, and pushing Ryuu into defensive mode. Ryuu dodged every single punch, but he was caught off guard from a kick that sent him flying across the field, slamming him into the ground.

Fee started towards Hitomi, when she got about 3 feet in front of Hitomi, Hitomi did a front flip forward and over Fee's head. Hitomi was almost to the ground when she threw a kick into Fee's back sending Fee stumbling forward. Fee instantly turned around sending a punch into Hitomi's chest.

 

“Ugh!” Hitomi yelled, falling to the ground.

 

Hitomi recuperated and sent a ground kick hitting Fee in the knee, then Hitomi jumped backwards and kicked Fee right below her neck causing her to fly backwards, landing hard on the ground.

 

“Ack!” Fee coughed, spitting out a little blood.

 

“Fee, if you wish to quit, just say the word and I'll stop the training.” Professor said, looking at Fee, who was stumbling to her feet.

 

“No! I am not down for the count yet!” Fee said, finally up and smiling over at Hitomi, “You're really good Hitomi, this is going to be fun!”

 

“Yep, you're tough too.” Hitomi said.

 

“Still, both of you are pathetic losers compared to me!” Zinnia thought, sighing at how disappointing this match is.

 

“You ready to finish this, Hitomi?” Fee said, taking her fighting stance again.

 

“You bet.” Hitomi said, taking her fighting stance.

 

“Then let's finish it!” Fee yelled, running towards Hitomi.

 

“You got it!” Hitomi yelled back, running towards Fee.

Ryuu was halfway up off the ground when Ryo'ichi appeared right in front of him

 

“He is fast! I mean this kid is unbelievably fast! I can barely keep up, his stamina is amazing!” Lee thought, watching Ryo'ichi's moves in amazement.

 

“Hmm….this kid……..he, he is different from the rest.” Dean Sparks thought, rubbing his chin.

 

Ryo'ichi slammed his fist into Ryuu's abdomen causing him to spit up blood all over the ground, and then Ryo'ichi instantaneously did a roundhouse kick into Ryuu's face sending him airborne, until he met the wall.

 

“BOOOOM!”

 

Ryuu crashed right into the wall with so much force that he went straight through.

 

“Oh no, on the other side of that wall is……..” Dean Sparks yelled, now running towards the hole in the wall, along with everyone else in the class.

Hitomi and Fee was about one foot in front of each other, fists extended when the wall in front of them crashed. Ryuu came flying towards both of them; they both immediately jumped backwards to dodge the human projectile. Ryuu finally hit the ground a skidded across it, until coming to a stop about 5 feet in front of Professor Sparks.

 

“What in the world is going on?!?!?!” Professor Sparks screamed in anger.

 

Dean Sparks ran through the hole in the wall towards the girl's field, making his way towards his wife, along with the rest of the boys. Ryo'ichi was the last person to come through hole, while the Dean was already at Ryuu's side and listening to his wife lecturing him.

 

“Oops, guess I over did it.” Ryo'ichi thought walking towards Ryuu, and the rest of the people.

 

Hitomi, Fee, Lee, Zinnia, Professor Sparks, and Dean Sparks all crowded around Ryuu.

 

“Ben, who did you, put him against?! A senior?! He is only a-“Professor Sparks started to say but was interrupted.

 

“A freshman. I placed him against a freshman.” The Dean said, sighing as he knelt down to Ryuu, who was now regaining conscious.

 

“A freshman?! Who?! What kind of freshman could have done this much damage?!” Professor Sparks thought.

 

“Ryo'ichi, this was your doing, not bad. You made more of a scene than I did.” Zinnia thought, smiling to herself.

 

“Ryuu can you hear me? Are you okay?” Dean said, shaking Ryuu's arm.

 

“Uh…yeah, I am fine.” Ryuu said, getting up and clenching his side, “just a little bruised.”

 

“Ben, show me the one who did this.” Professor Sparks said, sounding interested in seeing who had this amount of power.

 

“Him.” Dean said pointing to Ryo'ichi, who was just now entering the group, “His name is Ryo'ichi, Ryo'ichi Gatkai.”

 

When Hitomi heard Ryo'ichi's name, her head started spinning. She felt tons of emotions run through her, right before she fainted from shock, she had one thought stuck in her mind, “You're- You're Alive!!”

 

“Hitomi? Are you okay?” Fee said, holding the unconscious Hitomi.

 

“She passed out.” Lee said, grabbing Hitomi and placing her on his back, “I'll take her to the infirmary.”

 

“You go to Ryuu, get yourself patched up.” Dean said.

 

“But- I am fine, I can liv-“

 

“Do as I say.” The Dean said, in a stern voice.

 

“Okay.” Ryuu said, walking out the door behind Lee.

 

Professor Sparks was in complete shock to even notice Hitomi fainting, she completely forgot everything, the only thing rotating in her mind was Ryo'ichi's face.

 

“Oh no, looks like this plan just hit a serious speed bump, It's him.” She thought to herself, staring at Ryo'ichi in pure shock.

 

END OF CHAPTER TWO
