Death Academy: The Beginning
Chapter Three

“Whe-Where am I?” Hitomi thought, opening her eyes to a white room.

Hitomi leaned up and got out of the white bed she was in; when she looked around she saw that she was in a rectangular room, the size of two dorm rooms. All around the place was white single beds and in the front of the room was a white curtain spread out across the wall, hiding the very front of the room. She immediately realized where she was at.

“I'm in the infirmary? Why? What happ-“Hitomi thought, but immediately knew the answer.

“Ryo'ichi!” Hitomi said, getting out of her bed and running to the front of the room.

Hitomi flew the curtains open, startling the nurse who was sitting at the desk.

“Hitomi, dear! Are you felling better? You were unconscious for a while!” the Nurse said, smiling at Hitomi.

Hitomi glanced at the clock and was shocked; it was already 7:30pm. Hitomi then waved good-bye at the nurse and walked out the door and ran down the hallway towards the door to the outside. Hitomi open the door and ran outside and made her way towards her dorm. When she got to her dorm, she opened the door and glanced at the few people sitting in the lounge watching T.V.

“She isn't there. Damn it.” Hitomi thought, now running up the stairs towards her room, “Please be in here.”

Hitomi unlocked her door and halfway opened it, when someone grabbed her shoulder. Hitomi, in her stated of shock and confusion, withdrew her sword and went to stab the person who grabbed her. She came two inches from the girl's throat before she realized who it was.

“Fee, Jesus don't do that!” Hitomi yelled, closing her door and sheathing her sword.

“What's wrong? Do you feel better?” Fee said, with a look of concern on her face.

“Yeah, I am fine. Now isn't the time Fee.” Hitomi said, opening her door back up and walking, closing it in Fee's face.

Hitomi ran over to Zinnia's door and knocked nervously on it.

“Zinnia, are you in there?! I need to talk to you!” Hitomi yelled into the door.

Hitomi grabbed the door knob and turned it, the door opened. Hitomi pushed the door open, no one. Hitomi slammed the door shut and ran back out of her dorm and into the hallway. Hitomi got to the stairs when someone yelled out to her from behind.

“Wait Hitomi!”

Hitomi turned around; it was Fee, running to Hitomi.

“What is it Fee? I told you I'm busy.” Hitomi sighed, glaring at Fee.

“Are you looking for Zinnia?” Fee asked.

“Yes! Have you seen her?” Hitomi said hopefully.

“Yeah, that Ryo'ichi kid came up here and knocked on her door. Then they both left and I saw them going towards the dock.” Fee said.

“Thanks Fee!” Hitomi yelled, turning back around and started running down the stairs.

“Wait for me, what is going on?!” Fee yelled, running after Hitomi.

“I still don't get it, Ryo'ichi. Why is it such a big deal that people you know are here?” Zinnia asked, sitting in a lounge chair on the dock, staring out at the starlit lake.

“I really didn't expect you to. The reason is we came here with the intentions of destruction, not having to worry about innocent people that get involved, but now there is innocent people I know that can get involved, people I care about.” Ryo'ichi said, sitting on the edge of the dock, feet splashing the top of the water.

“Aww…..look at little soft Ryo'ichi, I didn't even know that you cared about anything besides yourself.” Zinnia said, giggling a bit.

“Shut up Zinnia.” Ryo'ichi said, still staring at the reflection of the full moon in the water.

“Not that I blame him for only caring about himself, after all the hell he has been through. The suffering that that damn facility put him though.” Zinnia thought, staring at the back of Ryo'ichi's head.

“So, Ryo'ichi is an old time friend of yours?” Fee said, running beside Hitomi, through the trail that led to the dock.

“More than a friend, he was my boyfriend.” Hitomi said

“What? Him? You have really weird taste in guys.” Fee said, looking at Hitomi.

“That doesn't matter, but about a year and two months into our relationship, Ryo'ichi's family was murdered and Ryo'ichi, missing.” Hitomi said.

“Whoa! Did he do it?” Fee asked.

“That's what the police thought until…..” Hitomi said zoning out.

“Until what?” Fee asked again as they passed the park area to their right.

“The found his brother two days later, scared shitless in the woods.” Hitomi continued, “they questioned his brother and his brother said that these people dressed up in robes appeared, and killed his mom and dad. Ryo'ichi grabbed him and locked themselves in his room. Ryo'ichi told him to go through the window and run, and that's the last that anybody heard of Ryo'ichi so they pronounced him dead, until now and that's been three years.”

“That's horrible; I wonder what happened to him during those three years.” Fee said, upset about what she has just heard.

“That's what I want to know too.” Hitomi said, seeing the dock in the upcoming clearing.

Hitomi and Fee reached the dock and made there way towards the end to the water. When they got about ten feet from Zinnia and Ryo'ichi, Zinnia shot up from the chair unsheathing her dagger from her umbrella, while Ryo'ichi still stared out into the lake, already knowing who it was.

“Stand down Zinnia; it's one of them, the ones that I know.” Ryo'ichi sighed, getting up and turning to face Hitomi and Fee.

“Which one?” Zinnia said, sheathing her dagger back into the umbrella.

Ryo'ichi stared blankly at Hitomi, recalling the past, when everything was perfect.

“Ryo'ichi, long time no see, huh?” Hitomi said, staring back into Ryo'ichi's eyes.

“Hitomi.” Ryo'ichi said.

“Her? My roommate? Well, how awkwardly intertwined we are.” Zinnia thought, walking past Hitomi, and then walking up to Fee.

“Your name is Fee right?” Zinnia said.
“Yes, it is.” Fee said.

“Fee, how about we give these two some time alone?” Zinnia asked Fee.

“Sure, how about you and me go back to the park?” Fee said smiling, and grabbing Zinnia's arm, dragging her back up the trail.

“You owe me one, Ryo'ichi.” Zinnia thought, as she was being dragged to the park.

“I figured I would see you before this day was over…” Ryo'ichi sighed walking up to Hitomi, who was staring down at the ground.

“I wanna know, now.” Hitomi said, clenching her fists.

“I would have guessed you would wanna know what happened to me.” Ryo'ichi said.

“No, I mean yes, but no. I wanna know, if there is anything going on between Zinnia and you!” Hitomi yelled throwing a fist at Ryo'ichi's face, which he dodged without even trying.

“Watch it!” he yelled, waving his hands in her face.

“Well?”

“No, Hitomi. Nothing is going on between Zinnia and me.” Ryo'ichi said staring into Hitomi's eyes.

“Damn straight. Now, I wanna know. What happened to you, where have you been for three years?” Hitomi said, in a concerned voice.

“I was kidnapped, by a place called the P.A.S.M Facility.” Ryo'ichi said.

“The P.A.S.M Facility?” Hitomi said in confusion.

“It's a facility that is located, around here. The name stands for Paranormal and Scientific Mutations. At the time of my arrival at the facility they were working on an experiment that was suppose to create a new weapon for the Government, however the experiment failed.” Ryo'ichi continued.

“What was the experiment?” Hitomi asked.

“Me.” Ryo'ichi said, turning around staring up at the full moon.

“What?!” Hitomi said, even more confused.

“They were trying to make a human that could become the most powerful weapon. They tried to alter my DNA and they succeeded to a certain extent and got more than they bargained for, but what they wanted, they didn't get.” Ryo'ichi said, looking at his right arm.

“Why? Why you? What made you so special?” Hitomi asked.

“I don't know, all I know is my parents weren't who they said they were. They actually worked for the facility.” Ryo'ichi said, sighing, “They came in that day, and murdered them both.”

“So what did they do after they realized you were a failed experiment?”

“They tossed me aside, they couldn't let me go, I knew too much, on the other hand they couldn't kill me then because I was still of value, so I stayed in that facility for two years.”

“Wait! Two years? You've been missing for three!”

“I know, last year I escaped with help from the inside.”

“Zinnia?”

“No, someone else.”

“So you have been free and hopping around for a whole year?!” Hitomi said, with anger in her voice.

“I guess you could say that?” Ryo'ichi said, a little confused.

“POP!”

Hitomi threw her hand in the air and slapped Ryo'ichi across the face as hard as she could. Ryo'ichi stood there, unaffected by the pain, staring at Hitomi with confusion, while a single teardrop hit the wooden dock floor.

“You….you were around for a whole year, and not once…did you ever bother to let me know that you were alive!” Hitomi cried out, clenching her fists until her knuckles turned red.

“How could you do that?! I have been so miserable knowing that you were missing, not knowing if you were dead or alive, and yet you probably never considered to think about me, or everyone else that cared about you!”

“Shut up.” Ryo'ichi said, staring down at the ground.

“Of course I cared, every second I thought about you! With that very reason is why I never contacted you, or anyone else!” Ryo'ichi said, looking back up into Hitomi's eyes that were blood red from crying.

“The facility was on my ass, up until recently! If I contacted you I would have put you in danger, and if something ever happened to you I would never forgive myself, because I love you is the same reason that I let you go, understand?”

“I guess…” Hitomi said, drying her eyes, “Now what?”

“Huh?”

“Now that you've brought me into this are you going to up and leave?”

“No, I am tired of running and hiding from that damn facility, that is why I am here.”

“Why here?”

“This is one of the entrances to the facility; I am here to put a end to everything.”

“I will stand behind you one hundred percent!”

“No I can't all-“

“Save your breath.”

“But-“

Before Ryo'ichi could finish his sentence Hitomi embraced him and locked lips with his, kissing him for the first time in three years, happy that everything was coming back into place.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!”

“BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!”

“What the hell was that?!” Ryo'ichi said, cutting their kiss short, and running up to the front of the dock.

“It was a scream followed by a loud crash, in fact….I think it was Fee!” Hitomi said, running up to Ryo'ichi's side.

“It sounded like it came from the park area!” Ryo'ichi said, already making is way down they trail, “Come on!”

“Coming!” Hitomi yelled, running behind Ryo'ichi.

Ryo'ichi and Hitomi arrived at the park area, just in time to see the horror, there in the park about ten yards in front of them was a giant beast. Ryo'ichi instantly knew what this thing was.

“A Slade!” Ryo'ichi said, pulling out the two pistols from behind him.

“Look! It's Fee!” Hitomi said, pointing at the body on the ground about a yard in front of them, “Is she….”

“No.” a voice said from up in the trees.

“Zinnia?” Ryo'ichi said, looking up at the figure in the tree.

Zinnia jumped from the tree branch down to Ryo'ichi's side.

“What happened?” Ryo'ichi said, glaring at Zinnia.

“This fucking Slade ambushed us, knocked Fee across the park, knocking her unconscious and almost chopped me in half, luckily I dodged it just in time and hid up in the trees.” Zinnia said, out of breath.

“Looks like the bastard started looking for you.” Ryo'ichi said, looking at a fallen tree in front of them.

Hitomi ran over to Fee and picked her up and dragged her back over to the trail, sitting her against a tree, then ran back over to Ryo'ichi and Zinnia.

“What is that thing?!” Hitomi said, staring at the Slade's red eyes, recalling the incident in her dorm.

“Oh nothing just another random forest crea-“ Zinnia said, smiling nervously at Hitomi.

“Don't waste your breath, I've told her about P.A.S.M” Ryo'ichi said.

“Oh…well then.” Zinnia said, looking relieved.

“Well? What is it?”

“Long Story short, it's called a Slade, an weapon made by P.A.S.M.” Zinnia said, looking at the Slade.

The Slade, finnaly grew impatient and charged towards Ryo'ichi, Zinnia, and Hitomi, transforming it's hand into a giant axe, coming at them with the intention to kill.

“Get ready for the battle of your life Hitomi!” Zinnia yelled, unsheathing her dagger.

“Damn it!” Dean Sparks yelled, hitting the side of a computer, in what looked like to be a large work room.

“Still can't hack into it?” Professor Sparks said, who was digging through a filing cabinet.

“No!” he sighed, “My brother was a genius at keeping his files well guarded!”

“Maybe there is something in this filing cabinet.”

“No use Haley. I've already searched that thing dozens of times.”

“Really? Then what do you make of this?” Prof. Haley said, holding up a folder that had “Classified” on the side, “Maybe this is it?”

She placed the folder on the desk, as the Dean opened it up. He flipped through some pages and read for a while then slammed his fist against the folder.

“This is it. This has all of it. The information on the person who murdered my brother!” the dean said, lifting his fist up revealing a picture, a picture of Ryo'ichi Gatkai.

“Don't worry Ken. I will make damn sure that I avenge your death.” Dean Sparks said, glaring at Ryo'ichi's picture.

Outside of the office on the front of the door were the words: “The P.A.S.M Facility, Owner and Manger's Office, Ken Sparks.”
