Death Academy: The Beginning

Chapter Four

 

“Are you sure the scream was from Fee?” Ryuu asked Lee, as the started running to the girl's dorm.

 

“Positive, something is wrong!” Lee said, gripping his hammer, as they arrived at the front of the dorm.

 

Ryuu and Lee flung the front door open glancing at the girl's sitting on the couch, hiding under the covers.

 

“Where is my sister?!” Lee yelled at the girls.

 

“She ran outside behind Hitomi, they were talking about going to the dock.” One of the girls said.

 

“What was that loud crash and scream?” the girl asked, grabbing the covers in terror.

 

“The docks!” Lee said to Ryuu, ignoring the girl's question, running back outside, “Lets go!”

“Arggggggggggggggg.” The Slade growled, making its way to Ryo'ichi, Zinnia, and Hitomi.

 

“Listen Hitomi, take Fee and go!” Ryo'ichi said, turning to her.

 

“No! I am staying and helping! I am not a freaking wimp.” She said, pulling out her two swords.

 

“No! Go now-“

 

“Let her stay if she wants, we're going to need all the help we can get.” Zinnia said, opening up her umbrella and resting it on her shoulder.

 

“Ugh, Fine, like you were going to listen to me anyway.” Ryo'ichi said.

 

The Slade reached the three and slammed its axe hand down on top of them. Ryo'ichi dodged it, sliding backwards from the Slade; Hitomi dodged it by jumping to the left, as Zinnia jumped to the right side.

 

“Fuck off!” Ryo'ichi yelled, firing a bullet into the Slade's right shoulder.

 

The Slade screamed in pain and stammered backwards. Hitomi decided to take out his arm, she stabbed one of her swords into the Slades left arm, only having it to bounce off.

 

“What?!” Hitomi yelled, when her sword didn't impale.

 

The Slade turned its attention to Hitomi and lifted its shielded arm and hit Hitomi, flinging her across the park, until she landed into some bushes.

 

“Hitomi!!” Ryo'ichi yelled.

 

“Pay Attention Ryo'ichi!!” Zinnia yelled, grabbing him out of the way of the axe that slammed into the ground where he was standing.

 

“Focus, she'll be fine!” Zinnia said, dragging him behind a tree, “We need to formulate a plan!”

 

“Right, you distract him while I come up from behind.” Ryo'ichi said, lifting his pistols in the air.

 

“Got it.”

 

Zinnia ran out from behind the tree, waving her hands in the air.

 

“Hey ugly, want some of this?!” Zinnia said, running in front of the Slade, stabbing it in the toe with her dagger.

 

The Slade screamed in pain and turned all focus to Zinnia; it slammed its shield at Zinnia, and she dodged it only to be slice in the side by the sworded arm. Zinnia tumbled across the ground, stumbling up and holding her side.

 

“Ryo'ichi it would be nice if you kill this fucking thing now before I, I don't know, DIE!” Zinnia yelled inching backwards from the Slade.

 

Ryo'ichi jumped behind the Slade and went to fire a bullet into the back of its head.

 

“Click”

 

“Shit! Out of bullets!” Ryo'ichi yelled in horror.

 

“Out of the Way!” Hitomi yelled, jumping on Ryo'ichi's back, flying off of it, towards the top of the Slade.

 

Ryo'ichi ate dirt after Hitomi flung off of him; he stumbled up wiping dirt off his face and looked to see Hitomi flying towards the Slade's head. She landed on the Slades shoulder, unsheathing her sword.

 

“This is what you get for throwing me, you bastard!” Hitomi yelled at the thing, as she stabbed it through the back of the neck.

 

The Slade cried out in extreme pain, as Hitomi jumped off its shoulders, landing next to Ryo'ichi. Before the Slade died, it let out a blood curdling howl that placed Ryo'ichi and Zinnia into a state of panic.

 

“AHRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOO!” Howled the Slade, right before in hit the ground, dead.

“What the hell was that?!” Ryuu said stopping about quarter of a football field away from the park area.

 

“It sounded like a freaking howl!” Lee said, stopping next to Ryuu, “We have to hurry!”

 

Ryuu and Lee got to the entrance of the park, Lee immediately saw Fee up against a tree, not moving. Lee ran over to Fee, while Ryuu ran over to Ryo'ichi, a wounded Zinnia, and Hitomi.

 

“Fee are you okay?” Lee said, rubbing her shoulder.

 

“Uhhhhhh….Lee?” Fee whispered, dipping into conscious only to be pulled back out.

 

Lee got up from Fee's side and walked over to the others, “What the hell happened to my sis-“he started to say, but stopped when he saw the dead Slade.

 

“What, What...” Lee started to say but couldn't get the words out.

 

“I'll say it for you Lee,” Ryuu said, “What the fuck is that?!”

 

“It doesn't matter!” Ryo'ichi yelled, “We have to get out of here now! Before the others come!”

 

“What makes you think others are coming?!” Hitomi asked, panicking.

 

“That, huff, huff, howl was a distress call the Slades use to call other members of their pack.” Zinnia said, clenching to her side in pain.

 

“Oh no.” Hitomi said, “Then let's go.”

 

“GRRRRRRRRRRRR……”

 

“RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR”

 

“Damn! We're to late….” Ryo'ichi said, flicking a switch on his two pistols, causing them to turn into two “Gunblades.”

 

“Zinnia!” Ryo'ichi said, glancing back at her.

 

“Yea-yeah?”

 

“Take Fee and go, you're in no condition to fight, you'll just get in the way, and she is in danger if she stays here.”

 

“Right.” Zinnia said, stumbling to Fee, picking her up.

 

“Take care of my sister Zinnia!” Lee yelled, staring at Zinnia.

 

“With my life.” Zinnia said sternly, hobbling out of the park, back towards the Academy.

 

The Slades finally showed their ugly faces, stepping out of the darkness growling at the four of them.

 

“At least there is only two.” Hitomi said, a little relieved.

 

“That doesn't make any difference.” Ryo'ichi said, turning to the other three, “I am the only one with actual experience in fight these things!”

 

“Well, teach us how to fight them, dumbass!” Ryuu yelled at Ryo'ichi.

 

“This isn't exactly the time, but I guess I can brief you.” Ryo'ichi said, glancing at the two Slades that were getting closer and closer.

 

“A Slade's weak spot is its head, impact the head and it dies.”

 

“What about the heart?” Lee said, staring at the Slades that were getting closer by the second.

 

“A Slade's heart is its brain and the brain is the heart. Slades only have one organ, and it's in their head. The rest of a Slade is pure muscle.” Ryo'ichi said, “Slades weapons are their arms, their right arm, mutates into any non-gun weapon, while their left arm is an impenetrable shield.”

 

“So basically watch out for the arms and aim for the head?” Ryuu said, pulling his gigantic zanbato out of the sheath on his back.

 

“Well Ryuu, I see you have a new weapon.” Ryo'ichi said, looking at the zanbato.

 

“Yeah it's called the Sword of the Massive.”

 

“Nice, well it looks like its going to get a good work out.” Ryo'ichi said.

 

“Great.” Ryuu sighed placing his sword in front of him.

 

“Ok, Ryuu and Lee you take the one on the left, and Hitomi and I will take the one on the right.” Ryo'ichi said, extending his swords in front of him, “Ready?”

 

“As I'll ever be!” Lee said running towards the Slade on the left lifting his hammer into the air.

 

“Let's kick their asses.” Ryuu, said running behind Lee.

 

“C'mon Ryo'ichi!” Hitomi said, running towards the right Slade, holding her two swords tightly.

 

“Got it.”

 

Ryuu and Lee were the first to reach their Slade, it slammed its shield into the ground, and Lee dodged it, sliding around to the Slade's side, slamming his hammer into its knee causing it to collapse down.

 

“Now Ryuu!” Lee yelled, jumping back.

 

Ryuu jumped up to the Slade's unprotected head, a swung his sword, decapitating the Slade.

 

“Woo! Take that you ugly bastard!” Ryuu said to the head rolling around the ground.

 

The other Slade transformed its arm into a scythe and went to slice Hitomi.

 

“Duck Hitomi!” Ryo'ichi yelled, pushing her to the ground, causing the scythed hand to nip his hair.

 

The Slade immediately went to slam its shield on top of Ryo'ichi and Hitomi while they were on the ground, but Ryuu jumped in front of them stopping the shield with his sword.

 

“Uh, huff, huff, huff, get up! I can't hold this thing for long.” Ryuu said, being pushed down inch by inch by the Slade's power.

 

Ryo'ichi and Hitomi got up just in time as Ryuu let go and jumped backwards.

 

“Ryuu!” Ryo'ichi yelled, finally coming up with a plan.

 

“Yeah?”

 

“Place your sword behind you like a catapult!”

 

“What?” Ryuu said, looking at Ryo'ichi like he was stupid.

 

“Just do it! When I get on top of it, launch me towards the Slade's head, while Lee and Hitomi distract its arms!” Ryo'ichi said.

 

“Got it!” Ryuu said, laying his sword arched onto the ground.

 

Lee and Hitomi ran up to the Slade, distracting it as it flung its scythed arm and shield all around them, as Lee and Hitomi dodged each blow without trying. Ryo'ichi ran onto Ryuu's sword screaming, “Now!” Ryuu flung his sword up with as much strength as he could put into it. Ryo'ichi flew into the air straight towards the Slade's head. He flew above the right shoulder, impaling it through the head, landing clumsily on the ground behind it, almost falling face first into the dirt, again. The Slade, fell to the ground dead, as Ryo'ichi walked up to it, pulling his sword out of its head, clicking the button again causing it to change back into a pistols as he placed it back behind his back.

 

“So…..” Ryuu said, sitting on the ground in exhaustion.

 

“Yeah….” Hitomi said, falling to the ground too, leaning against a tree.

 

“I don't have time for this; I have to check up on my sister!” Lee said, placing his hammer on the holder on his back, as he made his way back towards the trail, “oh and Ryo'ichi?”

 

“Yeah?” Ryo'ichi said, standing against the tree that Hitomi was sitting against.

 

“Tomorrow. First thing before class, Ryuu, Hitomi, Zinnia, my sister, you, and me are going to meet at the docks, I think we deserve an explanation.” Lee said, turning back towards the trail, running back to the Academy.

 

“Right……” Ryo'ichi thought, a little concern, “An explanation…..I guess they do deserve one.”

 

“C'mon guys, lets go back to our dorms it's already 9:43pm, this night has had enough excitement for one day.” Ryo'ichi sighed, turning to Hitomi and helping her up.

 

“You said it.” Ryuu said, getting up, walking to the trail.

 

Hitomi, Ryuu, and Ryo'ichi walked down the trail as they saw the clearing of the Girl's Dorm, being all together for the first time in three years. Ryuu ran along towards the boy's dorm after saying goodbye to both of them. Ryo'ichi walked up to Hitomi giving her a hug and a kiss.

 

“Goodnight. Love you.” Ryo'ichi said, smiling as he turned back around towards his dorm.

 

“G-night Love you too….” Hitomi said, smiling as she turned towards her dorm.

Ryo'ichi was almost to the dorm when somebody behind him yelled his name.

 

“Ryo'ichi!”

 

“Ryo'ichi!”

 

Make that somebodies, Ryo'ichi turned around to see Zinnia and Fee.

 

“Whoa” he said, looking a little startled to see them already, “You two ok?”

 

“Yep, I woke up to find Zinnia sitting at my side. I feel great, tired though.” Fee said, yawning.

 

“And you Zinnia?”

 

“I am fine, the Slade didn't cut to deep, although the nurse asked how it happened, and I told her that Fee and I were roughhouse and fell, and a coffeepot in the lounge cut me.” Zinnia said, acting as she hadn't been hurt at all.

 

“And she believed it?”

 

“Yep.”

 

“Hah, stupid ass nurse, and before I forget, meeting at the dock first thing in the morning, apparently we have to give them an explanation as to what happened tonight.”

 

“Who?”

 

“Lee, Ryuu, and you, Fee.”

 

“I already told her, I had to.”

 

“Well, I guess it doesn't matter, she was going to find out anyway.”

 

“I don't blame them in wanting to know either.” Zinnia said.

 

“Me either.”

 

“Goodnight Zinnia and Fee.” Ryo'ichi said, waving at them as he made his way into his dorm, “C ya in the morning.”

“Are you sure?” a woman asked someone whose face was hidden in the darkness.

 

“You want to show yourself tomorrow?” she continued.

 

“Yes. Tomorrow, isn't he making his move?” the man in the shadows said.

 

“I believe so.”

 

“Then tomorrow I will end it all, killing two birds with one stone. It is time that they are introduced to the Sin Cleanser.” The man said, laughing as he pointing towards the door.

 

“Go. Make damn sure everything goes to plan!”

 

“Yes master.” The women said, walking out the door.

CHAPTER FIVE PREVIEW:

 

“Knock! Knock!”

 

Hitomi glanced at the clock then at her door.

 

“Knock! Knock!”

 

“Who is knocking this late?” Hitomi thought getting out of bed and opening the door.

 

“Zinnia?” Hitomi said rubbing her eyes, looking at an exhausted, and blood drenched Zinnia.

 

“Ryo'ichi!” She yelled, out of breath, “Ryo'ichi and I were attacked!”

 

“By what?”

 

“A women and man!” Zinnia yelled, “They killed Professor Sparks!”
