[ Y - Young Adult: Not suitable for readers under 16 ]
Jade and Jaden were close to a year old now. Jade was taking after her mother, Mari, same black hair, and golden eyes. Jaden was taking after his father, Alder, with his strawberry blonde hair, and bright green eyes that matched his bright smiled. They were both talking a little, and starting to walk. Yet they were right.
" Mari, are the kids dressed, we're going to be late for the movies?" Alder asked from the bathroom were he was making sure that he'd gotten all the milk that Jade and slipped on him because she thought it would be funny.
" Yes, I do sweet heart," Mari giggled a little; she'd found what Jade did rather funny. She was finishing putting Jaden's shoes on.
Jaden was in a shirt that said 'I bite' with blue jeans. Jade was wearing a beautiful pink dress and her hair in a little braid. Yet neither was happy with what they were wearing. They felt very uncomfortable, and both waited for mother to leave the room.
" Mari, did I get it all off?" Alder called from the bathroom, and sure enough Mari went to look at her husbands shirt.
" It looks fine, Hun, don't worry so much," Mari kissed his cheek. " It happens to a lot of father's."
" You think?" He said. Jade was so much like him when he was a little kid, well from the stories his mother told to him.
" Yes, now come on," She started to pull him out the bathroom, holding a bottle that she'd forgot to put in the baby back.
Once back in the living room, where Jade and Jaden were sitting on the couch. She started to say. " You litt----" She stopped and dropped the bottle she was holding. She stared at the twins like she said a ghost.
" What the hell?" Alder said looking at them.
Jade and Jaden had switched clothing while their mother was gone. Jade was now in the ' I bite' shirt and jeans. Jaden was now in the dressed; both were now happy, but their parents didn't seem too happy. They seemed a little horrified.
" They switched?" Mari said, looking at Alder, who looked a little unsure.
" They shouldn't be able to dress themselves yet, and surely we aren't taking them out like that." Alder said, shocked.
" A-Alder, what does this mean?" Mari asked worried that her children might be transsexuals.
" What are you talking about?" Alder asked, going to change them back, but both twins put up a hell of a fight with their father.
" Well...don't you think it's a little odd that they would switch clothing, and Jaden does play with dolls and Jade doesn't. Jade likes cars and stuff like that,"
" Sweetie, I doubt that it's anything to worry about. Maybe Jaden saw Jade playing with the dolls and just got curious, same with Jade. Plus Jade is a bit of a tomboy. You were a tom-boy, Mari, and still are," Alder kissed her lips softly. " You're the only girl I know who like to watch boxing with me, and fishing."
" But, Alder, the baby-sitter told me that when she or her boyfriend plays with them Jaden pushes the cars and stuff away and goes to play with Jade's things, and Jade plays with Jaden's things." She bit her lip, praying that her feelings were wrong.
" I think you are looking to much into it," Alder smiled kindly at his stressing wife. " Let's just let him be for now and see how things go. We're going to miss that movies."
" All right....Maybe I am looking to much into it," She said as she picked up the twins, and went outside to put them in their car seats.
Jade sniffed her mother's hair, smelling the perfume that father had given to her for her last birthday that was a month ago.
" Mama smells smexy," She smiled brightly at her mother, who looked at her oddly.
" Thank you, but where did you learn that word?"
" Daddy," She giggled, proud that daddy taught her something.
Mari gave Alder a mean look, and he gave an innocent smile.
" I didn't think she would repeat it, let alone used it right,"
" Next time, be careful what you say about our kids."
" Yes, honey," Alder, sighed.
" Mommy?" Jaden said, looking curious.
" Yes, Jaden," She looked at her son, finding his face adorable.
" What homo mean?" He nibbled on his finger.
Mari turned her head to glare are her husband, who blushed and looked away. He knew he was in trouble, in big trouble. Yet Mari didn't yell at him like he thought she would. She just talked into him about using bad words in front of the twins. Then again homo wasn't that bad of it word, it was another word for a gay person; sexy wasn't bad either, it was another way was saying someone was pretty or extremely beautiful. But Mari didn't want her kids saying those words, because they were offensive to some people. Plus her parents would freak if they heard homo come from Jaden's mouth. So he said that he would be more careful.
The worry about the twins switching clothing and playing with toys that weren't meant for their gender was forgotten...for a while.
