Weekend Home

They don't know what they are doing. The kids were out for the weekend. Soon looked Mai-Pai in the eye.

“Well… we're here,” he said.

“Yeah,” Mai-Pai said. The adults sat silent.

“Now what?” he asked. She shrugged and shook her head. Sure, they slept together on Valentine's Day. But now what? I couldn't happen again, could it?

Mai-Pai looked away. She cleared her throat.

“Well…” she said. This shouldn't be so awkward. But here they were. Soon gave off a low whistle.

“Yeah,” he said. This felt painful. Something had to give. Soon stood up.

“Right,” he said. “We need something to do.” Mai-Pai raised her eyebrow.

“Like what?” he asked. Soon shrugged.

“I don't know,” he said. “We'll come up with something.” He walked to the closet. Mai-Pai lifted her head. Soon looked inside.

“Hm,” he said. Board games, wrapping paper, coats, umbrellas, more clothes, and another coat. Soon frowned.

“Do you clean this closet out?” he asked. Mai-Pai frowned at his back.

“Shut up,” she said. Soon turned in time to see a pillow thrown at his face. His girl grinned.

“You,” Soon said. Mai-Pai covered her mouth and giggled. He picked up the pillow and threw it back at her. She ducked out of the way in time. The pillow hit the floor. Soon clicked his tongue. Mai-Pai smiled as she stood up. She walked over and kissed Soon on the lips.

“Come get me,” she whispered.

“Huh?” her boyfriend asked. Mai-Pai giggled and took off running. Soon stood confused before it donned on him what happened.

“Hey!” the man yelled. Soon took off running after her. Mai-Pai laughed as she ran up the stairs.

“Come back here!” he shouted. The man sped up. His girlfriend ran down the hall. She looked at the different doors. Where should she go? Left? Right? Mai-Pai smiled to herself. She picked her door.

Soon picked up speed.

“Where did you go?” he asked. The man slowed down his pace.

“Hello? Mai-chan?” he asked. Giggling caught his ear. He quickly lifted his head.

“There!” Soon shouted. The man ran down the hall. He started opening doors. Nothing. Nope. Nada. Still, he wouldn't give up. Only one room left.

Soon grinned to himself and opened the door. Mai-Pai stood in her room, grinning.

“Got you!” her man said. She nodded.

“Yes,” she said. “Yes, you did.” Soon pulled her into his arms and kissed her. She kissed back. What would Saturday and Sunday look like, they wondered.
